Yes, cables matter, but...Like most things in life, however, if you put a little effort into research you will find better choices, for similar prices. Make sure you buy from a place where you can return the item, however!
In my first real eye-opener as to cable differences, I switched from Monster to Audioquest 4's (.. no terminators, just bare wire)and my _wife_ noticed improved sound (she didn't know I'd changed anything).
Spend the extra money.

Don't like it...
Good, but not great

Cool, but poor construction
great headphones for the pricenow on to comfort cuz thats an important thing with headphones. everything is nicely padded on these babies. the headphones fit nicely over your ears with enough space so that ur poor earlobes and such aren't crushed. even the band gets kudos from me cuz of their comfort. the soft padding won't make a dent in ur head like some other headphones i've tried when u wear them for long periods of time. the headphones have purposely been "bent" meaning that the band and the earparts are not in a 90 degree fashion. when you put the headphones, you should adjust them so that they sit straight on ur ears first, and then u will realize that the band sits more forward on ur head than most other headphones. this is smart cuz they're more comfortable that way and they don't easily slip off.
hey you kno, they're are a lot of reviews out there for these headphones. go read up on them. it really is a great buy. and from what i can figure out, they stopped manufacturing them (i think) so the already really low prices have dropped to around [$$] incredible price for an incredible product.
oh yeah. before i forget, they take 2 AAA batteries for a 30 hr usage... not bad... just remember to turn em off when ur done

Great for CD's, lousy with MP3's and ATRACS.1. Long battery life.
2. Decent sount (on CD's).
3. Easy to read display.
Cons:
1. Plays first quarter of an MP3 fine, then it starts scratching and eventually stops.
2. Plays first tenth of an ATRAC disk fine, then it starts scratching and eventually stops.
3. Takes about 5 - 10 minutes (not seconds!) to read a MP3 disc before playing.
4. Button placement makes it easier to use with your left hand rather than right.
5. You have to press a button rather hard and long to make the function work.
In other words, if you listen to the radio and CD's only - and are left handed, this is the perfect player for you!
Operates faultlesslyThe exterior design does leave things to be desired. The control buttons are cheesy and hard to operate. The display is too small. Instead of a carrying case or an anchor for a strap, there is a stupidly designed protruding flexible handle that makes the unit twice as bulky as it needs to be.

Great recorder BUT no external mic jack!
Great quality sound, not a big priceVariable speeds. Only the reverse control is slightly awkward, and this is because I have used the same tape recorder since 1985. New Technology, you never get used to it.

- Power adapter supplied
- 2 AA rechargeable batteries and battery charger supplied
- 3 LED battery level warning system
- Voice-operated recording
- Microphone jack

Not a Good ChoiceI cannot recommend this unit, nor any Sony microcassette recorder for that matter (I've had several from Sony), because, of all the great products they make, they somehow misstepped in this category. If you want a good microcassette recorder, I'd recommend something from Olympus, or if excellent sound quality is really important, go with a Sony digital recorder, an area in which they more than made up for the shortcomings of their microcassette line.

Walkman
Very good!
Monster Cable might be good for speaker wiring if you're an audiophile with actual supersensitive audiophile eardrums, but otherwise it's just a huge marketing gimmick.
