Excellent AC-3 performance, a little shy with musicThe whole system intergrates nicely and DVD's sound great, although after a couple of months and many DVD's and CD's later I have picked up a couple of short comings of this receiver. The main downfall of the AVR35, is the serious lack of power. Many reviews say that the HK produces more power than one would expect from it's rated power output, put this is not the case. I feel that power is one of the most important factors to consider when chosing an AC-3 receiver or amplifier. With the HK what should be solid bass is actually more like a pat on the back!. Another quibble I have is the harsh tops that this unit produces. This unit is a very poor performer when it comes to musical reproduction. The HK does not produce a clean reproduction of the original source material. This is normally the case with low end equipment, but unlike many other systems the HK seems to take away alot of the musical information in an attempt to some how filter the frequency bands. This results in a loss of low frequency response, and clinical sounding tops. I have found that adding a subwoofer improves the low end some what, but there is still a lack of response above 100Hz. Even the head phone jack lacks sufficient output, and there is not even enough range in the bass and treble controls to compensate for this. Adding bass with the bass control knob only adds boom anyway!.
On the positive side, this unit is very well built, and there are plenty enough adjustments for all speakers, even from the remote. The tuner section is good, and all fuctions are easy to operate once you get the hang of it!. The remote works with all my other components which I have found very useful.
Although this is a negative review, I must admit that the HK does a good job with DVD's. You cannot even compare stereo or dolby pro logic to dolby digital, the AVR35 only comes to life with DVD's, and if the only reason you want this unit is to watch DVD's, then I would give it the thumbs up!.
AVR35 Grate sound with the right setupI have a AVR35 and it has a lot of punch good all round sound and excilent head room. The lows or low and the highs are crisp and clean. The system does need high end speakers though cheep custem home made setup will not work well with this system. I have a set of ecco kefs front center and siround and bileav me it does sound good.

Moster Cable makes the Best Wire Available!!Do I use Monster cable? Well, yes, of corse! I have an Onkyo
60 X 5 surround sound reciver with surround sound model
#TX-SV444. I have KLH speakers. 4 satilites, a center, and a 120 watt powered sub. The set is model #SS02-HTIB. I originally had the stock KLH wire hooked up with my system, and it sounded good. But when I added the monster cable, the sound became strong and full of depth. I got much more bass out of the small sattilites, and the highs were noticably clearer.
If I have a choice, I will never buy another brand of wire.
A Definate UpgradeI was a little hesitant buying 50 dollar speaker wire - I mean come-on - I'm not made of money here... I just bought a $500 Home Theater system. But it was DEFINATELY WORTH IT. The added bass really enhances the full spectrum of sound. Whether you are listening to electronic music, classic rock, or classical - YOU WILL NOTICE A DIFFERENCE on a good stereo. I did hook it up to my low wattage Aiwa bookshelf system and did not find a huge difference. Maybe a little fuller bass.
When considering buying a good Stereo, Home Theater system, or Speakers - Don't go cheap on the speaker wire. It's like buying a Porche 911 and putting pleather on the seats...why ruin a beautiful thing?
ONE IMPORTANT POINT: Monster offers this wire in a off-white color instead of the clear plastic covers. If you want mount speakers on walls or hide the wire discretly - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND LOOKING FOR THIS COLOR. (...)

I dont recommend itCompared to my 5 year old Aiwa with almost same price.
This Stereo has a "background" noise like a computer(but not as loud) so if u listen to music very quietly you hear it.
Sound is Ok.
But Very few functions its ok if you only listen to CD otherwise look somewhere else.

Incredible sound!
AWESOME SOUND AND VERY POWERFULWhen my old stereo system broke i had to search for a new stereo system as i couldnt handle not listening to any 2pac albums i had to quickly search for a new stereo system. What i was looking for was a powerful stereo system with crystal clear sound no matter how loud the volume is and it needs some heavey bass as i have alot of old school rap albums.
Well when i came across this stereo it was in my price range and i liked the looks of the system, especially the little power meter.Anyway i tried a sample on it and i was heeps surprise with the sound.I played it loud and the sound was still very clear unlike some stereos where the sound breaks up because the speakers cant handle it, well the phillips stereo can. There is two volume knobs, the normal stereo volume control and the WOOX advance technology speakers which packs alot of punch.WOOX speakers are optional, so if you want the BASS pumping just turn them on and change the level.Theres are 3 levels with the 3rd level being the most POWERFUL.
There is a sound navigation-JOG:
Digital Sound Control:
-Digital
-Pop
-Classic
-Pop
-New Age
-Electrical
Virtual Ambience Control
-Hall
-Concert
-Cinema
-Arcade
-Cyber
-Disco
Incredible Sound
It has a 3cd changer, double tape deck, tuner(radio) and Aux(cdr/dvd).It also has ECO POWER, i have never seen this before, it is an option so you dont have to have it on but if you do it saves you energy, it plays and everything but with out the lights and display, yeah pretty AWESOME.
I did end up buying this product and i am EXTREMLY happy with it.Especially when i found out that Phillips and WOOX grouped up to be the best technology of the year(AUSTRALIA).During my search i did come across some nice stereo systems but this one topped the list and as you can see i wasnt dissapointed and i strongly doubt you will be either.
HIGHLY RECOMENDED

No component video with LDsIn the dying days of Laserdisc you may was to reevaluate this purchase unless you have a large LD collection not available on DVD (as the price of this player and a modulator would by a lot of replacement DVDs).
In playing DVDs and LD's these problems aside, this player does an excellent job.
WOW!!! BEST PURCHASE I HAVE EVER MADE!!!!This is probably the best purchase I have ever made. This thing is everything I ever expected and more!! It's easy to use as well - even my wife can operate it!
I have to say, everyone out there who is thinking of buying this, stop thinking. I bought it and I am extremely happy with it the moment I powered this thing on. YOU ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY CANNOT GO WRONG WITH THIS PURCHASE! I GUARANTEE IT!!!
Not an Elite, but still great! One other thing: upon receiving delivery of my player, I found that the laser was bad and was in need of replacement. It was taken to an authorized Pioneer service center where the laser was replaced swiftly, free of charge, and with no fuss. Many months later, it still works perfectly! I appreciate Pioneer's service. On my previous Elite LD player, which was hit by the lightning, the Pioneer service center I took it to worked tirelessly for weeks trying to fix it. In the end, they failed, but they also did not charge me for the work they did. Thanks again!
This is my third Pioneer laser video product. Based on my experience so far with my Pioneer LD player (rest in peace), mini DVD player, and new DVD/LD player, I would never purchase a laser video product from any other company.

Glad I Upgraded
Excelent option for palm loversI bought this unit recently, and love it. The screen is sharp (screen protector is a must before any use) and colourful. The dual card option (memory stick & CF) is scarse in PalmOS PDAs. I am a pediatrician an use both 1GB CF & 512MB MSPro cards. If you need to store a lot of data for reference or database needs, then NX-73V or NX-80V is for you. The difference: 5MB more (real) RAM and 1.3MP camera for NX80V. But NX73V is comparable in use and has a beautiful black case.
JackFlash is a must to take use of 15MB aditional FlashROM memory available inside the NX73V, so you take many files off RAM (to cards or FlashROM) to make space available.
Hope Palm & others will offer dual card capability in the future for PalmOS, but it would be unlikely.
I like it!I've found myself taking it wherever I'm going (which is the point of a PDA!!!). This never happened before with my older PDA's because they were simply calendars and phonebooks... I enjoy having the camera on me at random times. Taking a little picture of my favorite dish at a restaurant or capturing a great picture of my dog at the park. Those are times you always wished you had brought your digicam but never had it on you!
The DECUMA input sucks... you need to write really neatly and separate e a c h l e t t e r so that it knows what you're talking about. I much prefer Graffiti 2. Graffiti 2 is soooo much cooler than Graffiti 1 that I have been using previously. BUT best of all, this thing has a QWERTY keyboard. I cannot stress how much nicer it is to use the QWERTY. I haven't used the stylus much at all. Most of my inputs are now a process of using my fingertip and then using the keyboard. It REALLY is much faster.
I also enjoy the fact that the thing doesn't have to boot up to get to the digicam or the voice recorder. One click of either button and the unit automatically snaps to the application you are requesting. I am enjoying taking oral notes with the voice record feature when I'm on the go and don't have time to type.
Overall, I'd suggest that you also check out the NX80 due to the better camera. I think I'll buy an NX80 eventually, but right now, for the price, the 73V does exactly what I need without costing TOO much.

Best PDA I've Owned1 Palm OS excells,
2. HP iPaqs are a disaster,and
3. SONY exceeded my expectations.
Unless you need Wi-Fi, it's not worth it.
This is by far the most feature filled unit that is on the market. It's size and features will address just about any need you may have.
Keyboard is comfortable, and bundled software is great to show off the features. You'll be hard pressed to get over the novelty of this wonderful machine. You won't be sorry.
Best PDA out there (not including UX50)Pros:
- Super compact

Cons:
- Battery life not great, but OK

Turned me into a videojunkie
A great camcorder with a few extra bonuses
Well worth the money
The multi-room feature may seem unneeded, but it's nice to have. You can send a line-level signal to another amp, and listent to the same thing in separate rooms. You can also have the HK send a different signal to the second room than you're currently listening to on the main channels. It would be nice to have more video switching inputs, since I have used them all at this point. I think the next model up (AVR500) has at least one more video option.
I've only had one problem with my AVR300, and that's heat. I had mine in a glass-front cabinet along with my other equipment, including a DVD palyer and computer. After enough time with everything running, the amp would cut out on one or more channels. I eventually removed the glass door, and haven't had any problems since.
