High Quality and Versitile
I've had this unit for several months now and I love it. In comparing it with other models having the same features, I believe the slightly higher price is justifiable. There are plenty of audio inputs for the average user, and each channel (all 6) has a line-level output. Compared to other brands which only provide Center and Sub, or just Subwoofer line outs, this is a nice touch. The sound quality is excellent, even through lower-end speakers, and there's power to spare.

The multi-room feature may seem unneeded, but it's nice to have. You can send a line-level signal to another amp, and listent to the same thing in separate rooms. You can also have the HK send a different signal to the second room than you're currently listening to on the main channels. It would be nice to have more video switching inputs, since I have used them all at this point. I think the next model up (AVR500) has at least one more video option.

I've only had one problem with my AVR300, and that's heat. I had mine in a glass-front cabinet along with my other equipment, including a DVD palyer and computer. After enough time with everything running, the amp would cut out on one or more channels. I eventually removed the glass door, and haven't had any problems since.

Once in a lifetime purchase
For me, this is one of those well spent "Once in a lifetime" Purchases. The unit does everything I ever wanted an A/V system to do, plus much more. EXAMPLE: With it's on-screen display system, I can delay the sound output of any specific speaker to the nano-second so that every speaker delivers sound to my ears at the exact same time. It's spectral range goes below and above what the human ear can detect and is incredibly sharp on both ends, thanks to the reserve amps. From the rumble of a 747 take-off, to the high-pitched chirp of a bird in a surround speaker. Add to this no audible hiss or distortion at all, even at peak volumes. This unit also actually switches all of your Audio AND video feeds together with either coax, s-video, digital, or fiber cable inputs and outputs. This feature truly eliminates multiple remote controls for ALL of your other A/V components. After all of this techno-babble, the instructions were very clear and the unit was fairly easy to set up. It did take me a few hours, but the time spent was well worth it. This unit was built with top notch quality. You will probably never have to (or want to) purchase another reciever.

Excellent AC-3 performance, a little shy with music
The HK AVR35 is my first home theater system, which I combined with Yamaha surrounds, custom built front and centre speakers, and a Pioneer DV414 DVD player.

The whole system intergrates nicely and DVD's sound great, although after a couple of months and many DVD's and CD's later I have picked up a couple of short comings of this receiver. The main downfall of the AVR35, is the serious lack of power. Many reviews say that the HK produces more power than one would expect from it's rated power output, put this is not the case. I feel that power is one of the most important factors to consider when chosing an AC-3 receiver or amplifier. With the HK what should be solid bass is actually more like a pat on the back!. Another quibble I have is the harsh tops that this unit produces. This unit is a very poor performer when it comes to musical reproduction. The HK does not produce a clean reproduction of the original source material. This is normally the case with low end equipment, but unlike many other systems the HK seems to take away alot of the musical information in an attempt to some how filter the frequency bands. This results in a loss of low frequency response, and clinical sounding tops. I have found that adding a subwoofer improves the low end some what, but there is still a lack of response above 100Hz. Even the head phone jack lacks sufficient output, and there is not even enough range in the bass and treble controls to compensate for this. Adding bass with the bass control knob only adds boom anyway!.

On the positive side, this unit is very well built, and there are plenty enough adjustments for all speakers, even from the remote. The tuner section is good, and all fuctions are easy to operate once you get the hang of it!. The remote works with all my other components which I have found very useful.

Although this is a negative review, I must admit that the HK does a good job with DVD's. You cannot even compare stereo or dolby pro logic to dolby digital, the AVR35 only comes to life with DVD's, and if the only reason you want this unit is to watch DVD's, then I would give it the thumbs up!.

AVR35 Grate sound with the right setup
I had a look at a review from a gentalman from JHB South Sfrica
I have a AVR35 and it has a lot of punch good all round sound and excilent head room. The lows or low and the highs are crisp and clean. The system does need high end speakers though cheep custem home made setup will not work well with this system. I have a set of ecco kefs front center and siround and bileav me it does sound good.

Awesome features and reliability!
After owning two very average Pioneer receivers, I decided that I wanted to step up to a better brand to best complement the new JVC DVD deck that I had just bought. Wow! I really missed the boat by not going this route a long time ago. The salesman at Circuit City steered me away from more expensive units that had too many bells and whistles, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. This is an awesome unit with plenty of power and versatility. I especially enjoy the incredible fiber optic audio that can be used eith the purchase of an interlink cable. Great sound. I would recommend this unit to all that like ease of use and functionality in a mid priced receiver.

JVC RX-778VBK-"Its all good"
This reciever has been great for the apartment that I'm currently in. Since I can't play it too loud at certain times its prefect. I choosed JVC cause most (JVC recievers) have nice crisp sound thats not destorted and very clear, compared to others. The 100X2 when listening to music sounds like studio quality and 100X5 surround sound is also great, a JVC DVD player onscreen control. Very easy is to operate was/is a plus. As far as speakers I have Klispch quintet which are nice also. I would reference this reciever to someone starting out that wants to have a great sounding system thats not to beefy, sounds crisp, a nice look.

Outstanding Sound & Price!
The JVC RX-778VBK is an excellent sounding receiver, with a great digital surround sound section. With a DVD player & good speakers, it sounds terrific. No noticible distortion and plenty of power. Easy to use & set-up, very good FM reception, as well. Certainly not the equivalent of top-of-the-line receivers like the Denon 5700, it does share a number of the features of the most expensive units. I compared this to the equivalent receivers from Technics, Sony, and Onkyo, and thought the JVC offered better sound quality, more features, and greater value for the money.

Wonderfully surprising...
I purchased this reciever in a package along with the Cambridge Soundworks Movie Works II Home Theater Speaker system and i must say that I am pleasantly surprised. Because it came in a set, i assumed that it would be under-powered, and have sub-par sound quality. When i took it home, i was very surprised. It not only exeeded all of my expectations, but i have not come upon a better reciever for the money. DTS? Who needs it? Instead of shelling out all that extra money so that you can play the select few DTS dvd's, buy this little guy and save that extra money for purchasing a Cambridge Soundworks Movie Works II (which i am also extremely satisfied with). This reciever has 110 watts for the front speakers, and 100 everywhere else. Not only that, it also has outputs for TWO SETS of main speakers. I have another set hooked up in my living room which i use for music. I have them shut off for movies so that i may take full advantage of this recievers spectacular dolby digital decoder. It even has TWO optical digital inputs! One slight misfortune- the remote can only control JVC dvd players, which i remedied by purchasing a Sony LCD Touchscreen Remote commander. (sounds as good as it is!) This reciever fits right in with the best of systems-mine.

You'll notice the difference.
I had some cheap speaker wire running between a great receiver and some decent speakers. I thought it sounded okay, but I wasn't really impressed. I bought some of this cable and as soon as I had everything rewired and turned on the system, I could notice that it sounded better. The bass seemed a lot lower and I was happy with the difference. My roommate also noticed the difference as well. Investing in cables is usually a pretty good idea considering how much interference can be caused by a lack of shielding, and how many cables you usually have running out of the back of a system.

Moster Cable makes the Best Wire Available!!
Those cheap, thin wires that come with your speakers do not take full advantage of your stereo. The high resistance of thin wires looses wattage and can make your sound somewhat distortated or lacking depth. If you have a high powered system, a several thousand dollar quality system, or just an every day sony system, you will notice a difference. More power reaches your speakers making more base and less distortion. The thick wire adds depth and can greatly improve overall quality.

Do I use Monster cable? Well, yes, of corse! I have an Onkyo
60 X 5 surround sound reciver with surround sound model
#TX-SV444. I have KLH speakers. 4 satilites, a center, and a 120 watt powered sub. The set is model #SS02-HTIB. I originally had the stock KLH wire hooked up with my system, and it sounded good. But when I added the monster cable, the sound became strong and full of depth. I got much more bass out of the small sattilites, and the highs were noticably clearer.

If I have a choice, I will never buy another brand of wire.

A Definate Upgrade
Many people have not had the opportunity to listen to a good stereo with good speaker wire. Let's face it, many people have not had the opportunity to listen to a good stereo. After hooking up the Monster XP speaker wire to my Kenwood 507 Home Theater in a box system, I was truly amazed by the sound quality difference.

I was a little hesitant buying 50 dollar speaker wire - I mean come-on - I'm not made of money here... I just bought a $500 Home Theater system. But it was DEFINATELY WORTH IT. The added bass really enhances the full spectrum of sound. Whether you are listening to electronic music, classic rock, or classical - YOU WILL NOTICE A DIFFERENCE on a good stereo. I did hook it up to my low wattage Aiwa bookshelf system and did not find a huge difference. Maybe a little fuller bass.

When considering buying a good Stereo, Home Theater system, or Speakers - Don't go cheap on the speaker wire. It's like buying a Porche 911 and putting pleather on the seats...why ruin a beautiful thing?

ONE IMPORTANT POINT: Monster offers this wire in a off-white color instead of the clear plastic covers. If you want mount speakers on walls or hide the wire discretly - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND LOOKING FOR THIS COLOR. (...)

I dont recommend it
I bought this Stereo here at Amazon.
Compared to my 5 year old Aiwa with almost same price.
This Stereo has a "background" noise like a computer(but not as loud) so if u listen to music very quietly you hear it.

Sound is Ok.
But Very few functions its ok if you only listen to CD otherwise look somewhere else.

Incredible sound!
It goes without saying that this is one of the most powerful compact stereo systems on the market. The sound is extremely powerful and most importantly clear! It has many important features that modify the sound, such as incredible surround, enhanced bass and numerous others! Even when you turn up the volume, the sound remains clear and powerful; this indicates a high quality product. This is without doubt the best buy I have made so far! Ironically, the price is the best part, it cost only [dollar amount]. When compared to other more expensive products, this compact stereo is by far the best, both when it comes to sound and the looks! In short, this is a high quality poduct to a low price that I strongly recommend to prospective customers.

AWESOME SOUND AND VERY POWERFUL
Are you looking for a stylish and POWERFUL stereo system with extrodinary BASS? Look no more, this is it, thats right the picture above this review is a great device.

When my old stereo system broke i had to search for a new stereo system as i couldnt handle not listening to any 2pac albums i had to quickly search for a new stereo system. What i was looking for was a powerful stereo system with crystal clear sound no matter how loud the volume is and it needs some heavey bass as i have alot of old school rap albums.

Well when i came across this stereo it was in my price range and i liked the looks of the system, especially the little power meter.Anyway i tried a sample on it and i was heeps surprise with the sound.I played it loud and the sound was still very clear unlike some stereos where the sound breaks up because the speakers cant handle it, well the phillips stereo can. There is two volume knobs, the normal stereo volume control and the WOOX advance technology speakers which packs alot of punch.WOOX speakers are optional, so if you want the BASS pumping just turn them on and change the level.Theres are 3 levels with the 3rd level being the most POWERFUL.

There is a sound navigation-JOG:

Incredible Sound

It has a 3cd changer, double tape deck, tuner(radio) and Aux(cdr/dvd).It also has ECO POWER, i have never seen this before, it is an option so you dont have to have it on but if you do it saves you energy, it plays and everything but with out the lights and display, yeah pretty AWESOME.

I did end up buying this product and i am EXTREMLY happy with it.Especially when i found out that Phillips and WOOX grouped up to be the best technology of the year(AUSTRALIA).During my search i did come across some nice stereo systems but this one topped the list and as you can see i wasnt dissapointed and i strongly doubt you will be either.

HIGHLY RECOMENDED

No component video with LDs
While this player is a great space saver with nice features like E-Turn, like so many DVD VHS combos, component video output is not supported for the LD format as neither is enchanced letterbox detection...forcing you to use 2 inputs on your TV or receiver if you want to use component video for DVD. Also like most AC3 equipped LD players, Dolby Digital/DTS output for LD is only supported through the use of an external modulator which is a substantial sum in and of itself...given that you can even find one. And if you do, like video, you'll be using 2 digital audio inputs on your receiver to handle both DVD's and LD's. Also, this aging player, even at this price is missing features found on much much cheaper DVD only alternatives like Progressive Scan 480P output.

In the dying days of Laserdisc you may was to reevaluate this purchase unless you have a large LD collection not available on DVD (as the price of this player and a modulator would by a lot of replacement DVDs).

In playing DVDs and LD's these problems aside, this player does an excellent job.

WOW!!! BEST PURCHASE I HAVE EVER MADE!!!!
I just bought this thing from Amazon and all I can say is WOW!!!!

This is probably the best purchase I have ever made. This thing is everything I ever expected and more!! It's easy to use as well - even my wife can operate it!

I have to say, everyone out there who is thinking of buying this, stop thinking. I bought it and I am extremely happy with it the moment I powered this thing on. YOU ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY CANNOT GO WRONG WITH THIS PURCHASE! I GUARANTEE IT!!!

Not an Elite, but still great!
I was forced into buying a new Laserdisc player after my previous Pioneer Elite CLD-79 was struck by lightning and subsequently destroyed. Sadly, the Pioneer Elite DVL-91 is no longer available, so I settled for this. As it turns out, however, I was not settling at all. This is a great player! The picture quality is not quite as crisp as my previous Elite, but it is still fantastic on both LD and DVD. Most aspects have been improved. LD side change time is roughly half of my old Elite player, sound is better, and LD spin up is faster. My only real quibble is that the remote control was apparantly designed by someone who hates people. Buttons are arranged seemingly at random. Even after several months of ownership and use, I still have to take a long look at the remote before I venture a push of the buttons. The design of my previous player's remote control was far, far superior.

One other thing: upon receiving delivery of my player, I found that the laser was bad and was in need of replacement. It was taken to an authorized Pioneer service center where the laser was replaced swiftly, free of charge, and with no fuss. Many months later, it still works perfectly! I appreciate Pioneer's service. On my previous Elite LD player, which was hit by the lightning, the Pioneer service center I took it to worked tirelessly for weeks trying to fix it. In the end, they failed, but they also did not charge me for the work they did. Thanks again!

This is my third Pioneer laser video product. Based on my experience so far with my Pioneer LD player (rest in peace), mini DVD player, and new DVD/LD player, I would never purchase a laser video product from any other company.

Glad I Upgraded
Previous happy owner of a Clie NR60 but had to upgrade when I dropped it and broke the screen. The NX73 has everything I liked about my previous machine and in addition is Faster, has better screen resolution, and the Upgraded Palm OS. The Decuma handwriting recognition is great. The more I use it the more I like the ablity to take notes in my writing. The camara is lame and not a reason to buy this machine. The option for using CF cards is great plus in flexibility and cost. If you like to type your notes into your PDA, then this machine is not for you. The touch of the keyboard gives barely enough feedback. The Tungsten C has much better keyboard feel if you feel this is important. Bottom Line, if you like the big screen of the CLIE clamshell models (which to me makes a big difference), this is definitely the machine to buy.

Excelent option for palm lovers
I came from using TRGpro & Handera 330. Difficult to find a new PalmOS machine with the high usability of extinguished models.
I bought this unit recently, and love it. The screen is sharp (screen protector is a must before any use) and colourful. The dual card option (memory stick & CF) is scarse in PalmOS PDAs. I am a pediatrician an use both 1GB CF & 512MB MSPro cards. If you need to store a lot of data for reference or database needs, then NX-73V or NX-80V is for you. The difference: 5MB more (real) RAM and 1.3MP camera for NX80V. But NX73V is comparable in use and has a beautiful black case.
JackFlash is a must to take use of 15MB aditional FlashROM memory available inside the NX73V, so you take many files off RAM (to cards or FlashROM) to make space available.
Hope Palm & others will offer dual card capability in the future for PalmOS, but it would be unlikely.

I like it!
I gotta say, I bought this thing thinking that I would probably just use it to store numbers and play MP3's. I've owned the old Palm Pilot Original, the Palm V, and now this Clie. I must say that the Clie simply blows everything else out of the water. It's like a mini computer! I can view pictures, PDF's, XLS, DOC with the bundled software. The screen resolution is really awesome.

I've found myself taking it wherever I'm going (which is the point of a PDA!!!). This never happened before with my older PDA's because they were simply calendars and phonebooks... I enjoy having the camera on me at random times. Taking a little picture of my favorite dish at a restaurant or capturing a great picture of my dog at the park. Those are times you always wished you had brought your digicam but never had it on you!

The DECUMA input sucks... you need to write really neatly and separate e a c h l e t t e r so that it knows what you're talking about. I much prefer Graffiti 2. Graffiti 2 is soooo much cooler than Graffiti 1 that I have been using previously. BUT best of all, this thing has a QWERTY keyboard. I cannot stress how much nicer it is to use the QWERTY. I haven't used the stylus much at all. Most of my inputs are now a process of using my fingertip and then using the keyboard. It REALLY is much faster.

I also enjoy the fact that the thing doesn't have to boot up to get to the digicam or the voice recorder. One click of either button and the unit automatically snaps to the application you are requesting. I am enjoying taking oral notes with the voice record feature when I'm on the go and don't have time to type.

Overall, I'd suggest that you also check out the NX80 due to the better camera. I think I'll buy an NX80 eventually, but right now, for the price, the 73V does exactly what I need without costing TOO much.

Best PDA I've Owned
I've owned way too many PDAs, and have come to several conclusions:

1 Palm OS excells,
2. HP iPaqs are a disaster,and
3. SONY exceeded my expectations.

Unless you need Wi-Fi, it's not worth it.

This is by far the most feature filled unit that is on the market. It's size and features will address just about any need you may have.

Keyboard is comfortable, and bundled software is great to show off the features. You'll be hard pressed to get over the novelty of this wonderful machine. You won't be sorry.

Best PDA out there (not including UX50)
I have had several PDAs, and this is by far the best. I got it mainly for the built-in keyboard and high-res screen, but it is the total package. I sold my Dell Axim which was quite good to get the UX40 and I don't miss it at all.

Pros:
- Super compact
- Loaded with features
- Bluetooth built-in
- Great screen
- Keyboard is very convenient
- Multimedia
- Fast
- Super cool and well made

Cons:
- Battery life not great, but OK
- Kind of pricey
- Camera good only for low res pics

- Landscape screen only (not a big deal to me)

Buy it - you know you want it.

Buy it if you have the money!
Size, WiFi and Bluetooth, video playback, design. This unit is amazing. It arrived monday (one week early) and exceeded expectations. It is smaller than I expected. Set-up was simple...within minutes of taking it out of the box I was surfing the web via Bluetooth. The screen looks great, though a bit too small. Web browsing is very cool, but you dont want to spend alot of time online as the screen is very small. Email app works great. MP3 player is stereo which is awesome. You can listen to MP3's while browsing the web and transfering MP3s to a memory stick is a breeze. I transfered over 50 MP3s in a few minutes to a 256MB Pro stick. The design is great, looks very sexy as is very small. Smaller than most PDA's on the market. The onboard camera is descent, but should have been better. In movie mode it records 15fps not 30fps. The video player though, plays back awesome 30fps MP4 video....looks GREAT!!! This is one of the UX40's best features.

Turned me into a videojunkie
We bought this camcorder to record our children. We went with it based on reviews we'd read here on Amazon. It has lived up to our expectations. It's easy to use and takes really nice shots. The best part is being able to hook it up to our iMacDV with firewire and edit the footage.

A great camcorder with a few extra bonuses
This camcorder is an excellent product, as are all of the Sony range. Basically, it offers easily accessible and professional features in the guise of a consumer Digital 8 camcorder. The Picture and Digital functions are amazing and offer a discernable edge to home movie making. The Digital 8 format is fantastic, as it allows you to utilise existing Hi-8 tapes, and reduces the cost of tape purchases, given that the new Mini DV tapes are significantly more expensive. My only criticism of the product is that aside from not being the current model, it seems that the primary extra feature that this model offers over the lower models is that it has a larger sized LCD screen. Aside from that, this is an excellent product and quite possibly one of the best Digital camcorders on the market.

Well worth the money
This is the first camcorder I've ever owned, and I love it! I looked at camcorders in several price ranges, but this one had all the features I could want with a price tag less than $1,000. The LCD is crisp and bright and the picture quality is nearly flawless. I've taped two family weddings with quality that is as good as professional work. Because it is a Sony, I look forward to many years of high-quality performance.
