A good television
I purchased this television from Amazon a few weeks ago. It took about two and a half weeks to get it.

We're using it in a home gym in the garage.

I have to say that the picture is quite good and the sound equally so.

My dislikes are that the picture tube front is highly polished. If there is a lamp or a glare anywhere, you see it. I had to purchase a glare filter from a company in N. California for US$79.99 to cut the glare by about 50% and make it usable.

I'm sure if it was in the house this might not be a problem.

The other thing is that the remote is not particularly user-friendly. Set-up of the picture is awkward and inconsistent. The remote responds slowly to commands. We have a satellite feed and the TV must stay on channel three, just like a cable feed. If you don't turn on the satellite unit first, the TV won't lock on to channel 3 and goes to 224. A little over-engineered, I would say. Give me snow on channel 3 and let me decide what to do with it.

The unit takes some hard handling by the freight carrier and is packed OK, but now overly well packed. The plastic bezel on the left upper side of the picture tube was bent in shipping. Not enough to file a claim, but not perfect.

It has all the inputs one would ever need, however we're just using it as a simple TV.

The headphone jack placed in a flip-up cover on the front is a plus.

Lots of contrast, color saturation and good focus at all corners.

Overall, most would be quite happy with this unit. For $299 and free shipping, I can't see how one would do much better.

Great tv at a reasonable price
I actually tried an LCD set and didn't like it. But if you want a sharp picture and great sound without paying alot, check out the Toshiba 24AF44. The screen looks larger than 24 inches and the appearance of the silver color is attractive. It's really
easy to set the video and audio choices using the menu on the
practical remote. If you haven't kept up with the latest advancements in CRT technology, just compare this set with a
LCD or plasma. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. What can I say, a wonderful TV for under $300 and free shipping from Amazon. The picture using a DVD is flat out amazing. A real winner you won't regret buying.

great 24" TV
Did my research and noted many of the same problems with the sony 24" model that others had cited (fuzzy picture at corners).
Came down to this one vs. the similar offering from JVC. I've always loved JVC products and it was basically a tossup--at 92 dollars less though the toshiba won hands down.

Exceptionally good sound (given the usual limitations of onboard speakers) using just the TV's own speakers...the bbe function does wonders for dialog clarity. I'll probably hook up to a low end surround system though. Great small room TV and the prices of the flat screens have finally gotten to be a real bargain. I highly reccommend.

A Nice product but at a high price
A year ago, I bought a TSS-1B, so I decided to upgrade it with the RP-U200. After some wire cutting on the speakers, I had my system working. To tell the truth, I didn't notice a huge improvement, but silent cinema is fantastic. The FM tuner also comes in handy, but the presets must be saved in the computer's HD. The remote control is also useful, especially when watching movies with a few people in a small room. Oh and lastly, the unit looks nice. :)

So this unit is good, but is a bit expensive. For around 150-300 US I believe that full 5.1 PC sound systems can be bought, and they work well.

Excellent external audio device for your PC or audio devices
I would have to say this was one of my smarter purchases. As one of the previous reviewers stated concerning their initial purchase of the TSS-1B, I did the same. I replace it with this unit and the sound quality is much better. I am not taking the old TSS-1B speakers and attach them to this unit, for I intend to sell the TSS-1B. I opted for Yamaha's NS-U50 for my primary speakers, plus added a Sony Sub, soon to be replaced by a Yamaha. I really like this unit, it is very versatile and I have also hooked a tape deck and a minidisk deck to it, where I am transferring all my old tapes to digital media. I found a USB audio recording program that allows this and it works great. I don't believe you can do any better than this unit for your PC's audio functions. I also got it from Yamaha Shop online for under $200. It was a good deal, considering what I have invested in the past for lesser quality audio devices for my PC.

Excellent unit, great sound, and good solid build quality.
Comes with infra red remote control. Supports Dolby ProLogic, Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 decoding for DVD playback on a PC. Has seven Digital Sound Field Processing settings. Headphone socket and nice large volume control on front of unit. Built in FM tuner (which can be controlled from the PC) and external FM antenna connector. Has digital optical (S/PDIF), digital coaxial, USB, and analogue audio inputs for connecting to the computer. Also two auxiliary inputs (one for analogue and optical, one analogue only), plus analogue and optical outputs for recording. Supports up to five (unpowered home theater type) speakers, 14 Watts per channel. Line level subwoofer output. Works fine with Windows XP. Paid $ 200 for mine from Yamaha: http://www.yamahashoponline.com/.
Works well with the Sony SA-VE445H 5.1-Channel Surround Speaker System.

      would be five stars, but...................
If you are crazy about MP3 music this one is the best you can buy. Although you can also look pictures on it and even films this is not the reason why I bought it. Nice to have, but need to be??? No, I bought it for the music, the 40GB is great and in price absolute better than the Apple Ipod.... The extra feature using it as a extra harddisk is great. The sound setup is good en easy. All together great but It looses 1 star because the batterylife is not that great. Only to use with a AC adapter will cost 1 star. 7 hours???, I doubt it, it charges fast so that is a good thing but if there would be a possibility to use normal batteries it would be a winner forever... Still great too bad for the batterylife.............

      Great product, great service
I can't believe the folks at Archos aren't getting more press - they are fantastic! I have the AV140 w/DVR100 and Camera module, and the interface is great, music quality is fantastic, and video quality is stellar. You have full control of the sound (treble, bass, loudness, bass boost, balance, etc). Transferring music from CDs or downloads is really easy, drag and drop. Plus, you can use the Archos AV140 as an external hard drive! And best yet, the Archos doesn't convert music into some proprietary format (ahh...like the iPod). Tech support is fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about this company or their products.

      Great Player, But Bad Batteries!!!
Well, I bought a AV120, and I have filled half of it already. It has great tech. Videos & photos can be seen clearly in color, and the screen isn't that small. All the description Amazon fives explain what it does clear enough, but the only problem it has are the batteries. In a way, it'd be better to have a discman or cd player, for you can change when they expire, but with the Jukeboxes, you have to charge them. On the manual, it says you have to do it for 3hr, but it doesn't explain or tell how much they will last. I charged it for 2hr, and that was how long it lasted, but what if you go on an 8hr trip, and there is nowhere to charge the batteries? Try changing the batteries? that's a good idea, but you have to take the screws, and that ain't as easy. But besides this little defect, it id great. If you'll use it for short trips, it's a great aid to keep you entertained

Does everything it says it does
The Jukebox works fine and does every thing it can perfectly. Its quite an amazing device giving the fact that you can watch clear DVD quality movies on that little screen and record directly off of a TV, computer etc. This is alot more convenient than buying a portable DVD player and bringing that on an airplane, train etc.
It is extremly simple to use, if you have a current version of Windows (or mac) , than all you have to do is plug it into your computer's USB, and it will then instantly pop up as a second harddisk on your computer screen (for example, in the My Computer folder in windows).Archos definitly hit the spot in the Ease of use catagory. GREAT as a Laptop companion. I have been able to store more than 45 CDs on my Juke box (I have the 20gb model) and I still have used up only 1/4th of the space on Mp3 format(yes, the music plays clearly and their is a whole menu where you can adjust Bass, Treble, pitch etc. Great on Storage

      ---------------------------------------------------------------
The only problem I have with jukboxes (yea, all jukeboxes) is that you still can not take this to places where you will be away from AC power, or places where the Jukebox could get damaged. I have recently taken the Jukebox to Austrailia and back, and it has been great on those long flights, but you would have to watch your battery life. (with a cd player, you just have to replace those affordable Alkaline batteries, not with Jukeboxes). It has also has been great on space. It is nearly a hundred times smaller than a CD player + all the CDs you have to carry with it. .

So in conclusion the Archos AV 120 / 140 is PERFECT for home and office use, short trips and short airplain flights. It is also good for vacations where you know you would be visiting a AC power socket for re charging the battery. The only place where the Jukebox does not belong are places where it could get damaged (example, boating) or places where you would be away from power, in those cases, you should take your more durable CD player.

      I find Archos AV 120/ AV 140

Great timesaver ... a must for professionals
If you run a lot of coax, you need this tool. I install cable television, so needless to say, I run a lot of wire during the day. This tool cuts the time it takes me to run a line almost in half. Instead of hammering in individual staples, just point and shoot. Pretty much the only surfaces it won't staple into are metal, asbestos siding, and concrete/stucco. I only wish it could hold more staples at a time. It's also a little on the pricey side, and I almost didn't buy it because it's so expensive. But having used it, I'd say it was definitely worth the investment. It's earned a permanent place in my tool belt.

Really Useful Gadget If Cabling is Your Thing
I install Electronic Security Systems & I find this tool invaluable, saves time, Its finished appearance is neat
      & it doesn't cost the earth :-)

Ohh & if a piece of it breaks, you can get spares for it too!

Wish it has a Greater Capacity
I used one for over a week now. I am happy with it. Here are some observations.

      1. The belt is wide, so it is comfortable. I hardly feel it around my waist.

      2. Well made. I expect this to last me for quite a while.

      3. A little too small. Once my CD player is in the case, I cannot fit in much else. I figure that I probably will be able to fit in several CDs without cases behind the player, but that is it. It would be nice if I can fit in my billfold or something.

      4. 2 side pockets that can be used to hold spare batteries but not anything bigger than those.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase, but then I got it on sale.

Perfect in every way I care about!
      Cons:
      1. It only holds 3 CD's, comforably without cases (there are pockets).
      2. Hard to mess with CD-player on the move (it gives you a weird angle).
      3. A bit tight for some CD-players.
      Pros:
      1. It fits tightly around the waist, this thing stays put.
      2. Very comfortable, it's can be eaisily forgotten about.
      3. Lots of extra battery space.
      4. Very slim yet it has just enough padding to keep player/CDs safe.
Bottom line: the cons are just picky things on are really great CD-case. I don't see myself getting another one for many years.

      Surprising Sound!
The Creative Labs TravelSound MP3 has surprisingly good sound for such a little unit. It's a "palm-sized)" one-piece stereo speaker system, little larger than an eyeglass case (WxHxD 6" x 2" x 2.5") but the sound is nearly as good as a small boombox. This unit does a great job in smaller rooms but you'll be disappointed if you try to fill a large room with sound. You do lose most of the low end so the bass is a little anemic. But the mid-range and the high end are crisp and clean.

You can hook up your portable electronic audio equipment like your CD/MP3 player, portable DVD player, even your laptop computer but being able to download MP3/WMA files directly to the unit is a definite PLUS.

It is a little $$$ but it is still a good value. I recommend it to anyone who travels a lot but likes to have decent tunes in their hotel room.

Great for sound in your pocket
I was looking for an active speaker system that would fit in my pants pocket and produce enough sound to practice dancing. I purchased 3 units to try - the Creative TravelSound MP3, the Sony SRS288 and the Panasonic RR-SPT70. After thorough testing, I've decided to keep the TravelSound and return the others. For me, the most important feature is that it fits well into my pants pocket and can connect to a sound source in my shirt pocket, such as my Palm Tungsten T3 (MP3 player) or Sony NetMD player. I rejected the Sony because it had a 16 inch cord, which was too short for pants with deep pockets. The others had 22 inch cords, which was adequate. I rejected the Panasonic because it was too long for my pants pocket when unfolded, and too fat when folded. The TravelSound fits into my pants pocket the best. Some other advantages of the TravelSound are (1) it doesn't have a grill over the speakers, which the others have. Hence, I can clean out grit that would get behind the grill of the other speakers. (2) At high volume the sound is less distorted that the Panasonic. (3) Although the MP3 player is a plus, it really needs an LCD screen. I control what I play using the Pocket Tunes MP3 player in my Palm, or from my MD player. Nevertheless, I still use the TravelSound's MP3 player for my favorites. One caviat, anyone planning to run the speakers from house current needs to be concerned about hum (reported by other reviewers). Since the TravelSound doesn't come with a power supply, to use house current, you should either get the power supply from Creative (sold separately), or get the Sony, which comes with a power supply that can be used world wide. If you buy a cheap power supply, it probably won't have enough filtering, and you'll get AC hum. The Sony has no hum when run from its power supply. I haven't tested Creative's power supply. With the TravelSound, I'm now a "walking boombox", and there is enough sound to fill a small room that allows several couples to dance along with us. This is a really great way to share music.
