as good as component video dvd players
i mainly was using this for the karaoke features, but when i compared the svideo output against my toshiba sd1600 that has component video outs hooked up to my toshiba 65" hdtv widescreen, i saw no difference. i looked at the same movies, same scenes and the picture was great!!! i was truly amazed. plus it has vcd, svcd and karaoke features that my toshiba didn't have. now my toshiba sd1600 is collecting dust while my gpx gets shelf on the entertainment center!

Much Better Than Expected
I bought his a week or two before Christmas. I wasn't expecting much -- I'd never even heard of GPX -- I mainly picked it up because it was the cheapest one there and it had a 3x zoom. Let me tell ya', it's a very good player and well-worth the [$] I paid for it. The picture is sharp and the sound is much louder & clearer than anything I've ever heard on a VHS. There's even a pointless karaoke option for when you are drunk and want to embarrass yourself in front of friends & family.

Now it's not perfect, on the newer DVDs -- ones with the dual-layer format -- your always going to get a slight pause an hour-something into the movie when it switches over to the second layer. I'm not positive; but I believe almost every low/midrange player that doesn't have a dual-laser reading thing is going to do this when it switches layers. I wouldn't say this is even that annoying though -- the people putting the movie onto DVD know this and make sure to place the layer switch during a scene break or something. I have 27 DVDs at the moment and none of the dual-layer ones have layer switches during action scenes/when people are talking, or anything like that. Basically, if you blink at the right time; you might miss it altogether.

Now on the plus side, I really like the 3x zoom option. I always make sure to get widescreen versions because you can just hit the zoom button which makes it fairly close to the TV format. The 3rd zoom is kind of pointless though -- none of the DVDs I've played have enough picture quality to show a decent picture on 3x (I doubt many do at the moment).

The only other thing I can think to point out is that you might want to turn it off for about 15 minutes between movies to let it cool down. I had a few very slight freezes once near the end of Saving Private Ryan, and I think the player had been on for about four hours. I have to attribute it to being on so long since that's the only time it's happened.

Great product, needs more advertising
I recently purchased this product as a gift (for myself :) ) and i didn't expect much. Gpx has never been much of a brand name, and i had no intention of using it that much. Now, after spending countless hours watching ALL of the DVD movies I can get my hands on, i have a new perspective. It is merely the name that keeps this product from being a bestseller. Dont look at external appearances, read into it, watch the EXTREMELY high quality movies, and enjoy life!

Great DVD Changer
I needed a new player and decided to go with a changer (oh, I'm so glad I did. They are so much more convienent than the single disc players). I wanted a quality player that didn't make a spinning noise when playing discs. I was tired of hearing spinning noise at quiet points in the movies. I also wanted a player that had quality slow motion capabilities and progressive scanning.

I did the research, shopped around, and talked to people and I settled on this model from Onkyo. Everything I was hoping for in my player has been realized.

Only complaint is that the remote is not "ergonomically" designed and has no backlight. But that said, the remote is more sturdy and of better quality than some ergonomically/backlit remotes i've had. And the Onkyo remote has more "quick access" remote buttons. A single button leads you right where you want to get to. For example, while watching a movie, if I missed some dialogue, I can just hit the "Subtitles" button on the remote and rewind a little to see it again with subtitles. Hit same button again to turn off the subtitles. So the remote is good too but not awesome in intuitive layout/placement of buttons. But the remote is also the least important thing to me because if it is a serious problem one can always get a universal "high-tech" remote if they don't already have one.

Best DVD player I've owned yet. I'm totally happy with it. i wanted to write this to let others know my experience who might also be wondering about this player. Good luck in your selection.

Great picture and superb sound
I did not buy this through Amazon, but I have to let everyone know, it is an awesome product. If you run across the DV-CP701, stay away. It has problems with showing green tint artifacts on backgrounds. The new 702 however has no problems and performs beautifully, especially when paired with the HTR S-760 Component HTiB. Great purchase, if you can find one!

AWESOME PERFORMANCE
This DVD player has been worth the money. Granted, it is more expensive than many others, but read the reviews on others...they all have problems. The Sony 665 has problems and Consumer Reports wasn't impressed with picture quality. Pansonics have glitches with playback, JVCs are almost as expensive...there is a new Toshiba out that might be worth considering.

The video and audio on this player are impressive...and I've had a Toshiba and Panasonic 5-disc changer in the past. The audio out of this player (digital connection to a Yamaha receiver) is incredible, much better than the others. There is a button for random play on the remote. I read people complaining about the noise on the Onkyo 701...there isn't a noise issue on the 702. People also complained of long times to change discs on the 701 and 702...this is still ture but it is no slower than the Panasonic F87 (which I owned and returned) and the F87 claims to have a fast disk exchange.

Having the 6th disk is nice and ordering it through Amazon/Crutchfield is an added bonus. The player arrived 24 hours after I ordered and I used the free/standard shipping. The item shipped from the east coast, so if you live out west, you might have to wait a day or two.

Great product, no complaints, looks sharp, awesome performace. Highly recommend, despite the price.

Great Bang For The Buck
I bought this as a gift for my parents for Christmas. They absolutely love the system, and it has performed very well... A great first-time surround sound audio collection...

Great product, easy to use
This product is wonderful. It was quick and easy to set up and it came with everything necessary to put it together. I had a DVD playing 10 minutes after I took it out of the box! I shopped around before purchasing this system and this truly was a great value. The Oritron HT240 is one of the better-priced complete theater systems, and aesthetically it is one of the most attractive.

great video and sound reproduction for the price.
i find this dvd /cd player one of the nicest to use and watch. very easy setup and what a great looking piece to look at too. the colors a very accurate with no bleed through as i have viewed from other pricer players. the black detail was outstanding and i also like the ability to adjust it if i liked. freeze framing was very cool to use, no motion jiggle was observced. the audio portion sounded bas good as my elite 700.00 cd player. so if you want one of the best dvd/cd players currently on thr market this is the one.

Condensed From Materials Provided By The Manufacturer
With the CD Copy Cruiser Stand Alone CD Duplicator you have the convenience of simple one touch operation or the choice of using powerful duplicating tools when you need them. CD duplicating professionals and serious users must have the flexibility to control CD duplicating processes over a very wide range of variables. You may want to reduce copy speed to reproduce the highest quality audio, or your blank media may be certified at less than the maximum recording speed. Many times source discs are of questionable quality or have been created in a way that makes duplication difficult. Alera Technologies, innovator of Prosumers' Choice products, has designed the CD Copy Cruiser with its Cruise Control 100 professional CD Duplicator Controller to put you in control. You can adjust speeds and other copy functions, verify the copies after they are made, simulate the copy process without actually burning media and much more with a complete menu of tools necessary for making successful copies and improving yields. Or you can simply push "Copy" for a quick, easy duplicate disc. Without these features a CD duplicator can have very limited uses.
Now you can compile your own custom audio CDs with the CD Copy Cruiser without a computer, as well as duplicate CDs at speeds up to 52x. The advanced features of the CD Copy Cruiser make it the right choice for your computer room, entertainment center and your office or business. Its distinctive "Professional Black" look fits anywhere and is available only from Alera Technologies.
More and more business, government and education offices, musicians, record publishers, audio and video professionals, software and game developers, graphic artists, churches and other private organizations, are looking for a cost effective means to duplicate CDs to distribute to customers, clients, employees, students, organization members, etc. The need to duplicate CDs in your own office, where you have total control of the schedules, quantity and content has been growing since the first CD-Recorders came on the scene. The actual time to copy the information a source CD to CD-R blank discs, start to finish, will vary due to the quality of the discs being used, write process initialization tests by the duplicator controller, writing lead in/lead out information, etc.
The CD Copy Cruiser incorporates a back lighted LCD readout that reports the % complete and other status elements of the copy process. It is important to be able to see this information as the process is taking place so you have an idea of when it will be completed. This is particularly useful when copying difficult to duplicate CDs.
CD Copy Cruiser stand alone CD duplicators do not require a computer for any of their duplicating or editing functions. Since CD Copy Cruisers do not require connection to a PC, they do not interfere with valuable workstation activity. No special computer, multimedia or mastering experience is needed to make copies. For the normal copy job, you simply load the CD to be copied in the CD-ROM drive, load the a blank CD in the CD-Recorder, Select Copy, Select the copy speed and in a few minutes you have an exact copy of your source CD.

Dependable, solid, large
This Case-Logic CD carrier is a good, solid storage device. It is pretty standard wallet, with space for 208 CDs or DVDs divided into 26 pages of sleeves (4 CDs each side, front and back), plus space for an additional 16 CDs inside the front cover. Although it is a tight squeeze, it is possible to fit both the CD and the booklet or liner notes into the same sleeve. The pages are held in place in a ring-binder type arrangement, so it is possible to unlock them and take individual pages out of the case, if you want to remove them for travel (or possibly to add more pages for more storage.)

The sleeves are well padded, so your discs shouldn't get scratched. The top, bottom, and binding of the case are solid, and leave the contents well protected. I've had my case a few months and haven't had any significant wear or tear- the zipper seems to hold up well, too.

Obviously, when full of 200+ discs, the case can get pretty heavy, and isnt going to be something that you want to take on a 3 hour trip. But if you move around a lot, or are looking for some long-term storage that will cut down on the bulkiness of your DVD cases, this is a good buy. I bought mine because I was moving from the US to Europe and wanted a way to transport and store my music and movie collection without all the extra packaging- and I've been satisfied.

Good product but...
I have used LaCie drives before in the past and I have been impressed. Unfortunetly this product does not properly fit inside of an Apple G5. When I try to eject the drive, it gets stuck unless I manually force it out. There is no problem with the drive itself, its simply a flaw in the design of G5, I would however recommend it for a Windows/Linux based PC.
