I have had my Sony boombox for nearly six years now. This is the updated model of wha I have and I'm thinking of buying new. Not because my old one's shot (Even though it's on approximately to hours a day!) I want to rebuy because I want one for my basement AKA the exercise room, but I won't let the one in my room out leave the room because someone else will nab it and I'll never get it back. A Sony is the highest quality electronic device you can buy, in my opinion. There are virtually no down sides to this. It never skips CD tracks, it has never "eaten" a tape, it makes crystal clear copies of radio prbrams and CDs (Mine wear out so fast, I have to make copies!) and best of all, it's (cheap). I would recommend this to anyone looking. The only negative it has is that it's a little heavy- okay, mine's REALLY heavy (10 lbs) on the bright side, if you lift it while you dance, you'll get a GREAT workout!

I've bought a refurbished unit of this model.
It's really good, the sound is clear, the remote is complete (includes power, but not K7 deck management), the mega bass and xtra bass are nice (although I found the xtra bass bringing some distortion at louder volume).
Maybe the radio reception is not the best possible, but it's average and pretty reasonable. And the weather channel really work!!! I didn't get reception for TV channels (do I care?), but this may be a problem of channels availability here where I live.
The K7 deck would be greater if it had the autoreverse feature, but who cares now that K7s are piece of museum?
Overall, great great stuff (and for a great great value!!!!).

I've been looking exactly for this product - decent sound with both radio and CD (tape is a bonus) WITH REMOTE! There really hasn't been a middle-ground niche for reasonably-priced, decent featured audio boxes for the office/extra room/basement work area. This is the exact product solution to all my lazy needs for the various formats I like to listen to + a plentitude of functions. The Sony CFD-S39 has a nice little LCD clock, plus bonus timer functions for wake up, standby, etc. The design is quite attractive with decent heft and footprint.

The sound quality is very good - the MegaBass is not too much of an overkill. Optional 8, D-cell batteries make a nice power backup for your clock/presets even with power outages. I love the remote - CD + radio functions can be easily controlled at a distance.

Minor negative attributes is the absence of audio RCA jacks input/outputs - but I suppose that's how they keep the cost down. The only other minor frustration is the interface layout/programming. A few of the buttons serve as dual functions and it's not as intuitive as many other Sony well-designed products.

Those of you who are looking for a really good portable CD Player, I would recommend this one. The sound is VERY clear and crisp, and the volume has a nice range that can go pretty high. I like the little clip-on controller that comes with it. I was confused at how to hook up the controller at first and there are no intructions anywhere on it in the owner's manual (that I could find), but I finally figured it out after awhile. So for those of you who may be confused also, you connect the controller into the earphone jack and then connect the earphones to a jack that is on the back of the controller. This is a very nice CD Player and great for the money,too, I think. I don't think you'd be disappointed.

I've had this CD player for almost two years, and I plan to keep it until it gives out. It has the best sound quality and the best bass of any portable CD player I've ever tried. Sony makes the best audio products of any brand I've ever used, so I knew when I was buying it that it would be good. The only complaint I have with it is that a few months after I got it, the left speaker on the headphones stopped working (but that was probably just the headphones), so I had to buy new ones, which weren't expensive, but it was slightly inconvenient. The battery life of this model is pretty good too, especially if you don't use the mega bass.

This cd player has the BEST sound, super long battery life (up to 86 hours) It does have an external battery case but you don't need it on because it has a built in battery case. It is thin but not to compact lenght wise. I don't even use the shock protection, it doesn't skip, even when going over a bump in the car. THIS CD PLAYER IS A GREAT VALUE!!!

The Sony Psyc D-EQ550 Walkman is by far one of the best and most creative cd players on the planet. It comes with 2 vibrant lids which you can switch out to fit your mood plus matching clips for your headphones. I really like how you can personalize it by putting your own photos and other art in it. The sound is awesome!!!!! It gives off a rich sound when you have the MegaBass on. It sounds like mini subs and amps are inside the headphones. I would recomend this cd player for all teen girls who like to have unique styles.

A lot of people at school have this CD player and we love it.

Everything on it is perfect! The Cool and Sleek design is very awesome, the sound is crystal clear, and it has never skipped once! You can turn it upside down, on it's side, jog, run, play it in the car and it never skips once!

The Mega Bass works really well and at the volume's highest setting (it can go really loud)the sound doesn't even crack. For the money it even comes with a car kit!

I have had this CD player for 3 years (I have one of the older models) and it still works like I just bought it! I use this Cd player everyday for at least 3 hours a day and I haven't bought new batteries in 4 months, it only takes 2 AA's!!

Trying to decide what walkman to buy to me is stupid. They're all pretty much the same so you should just go for the cheaper ones. I have had this walkman for over 5 years now and I have never needed to repair or replace it. The only thing that's ever happened to it is that there are VERY minor scratchs on the silver plated top which show in the light. The ESP is great and having traveled on planes, trains, and automobiles with it active there has never been a time where it continually skipped, maybe once or twice but never more.

Mainly, this is a great walkman that does the job to perfection and should never need to be replaced. That means that you should go and buy this walkman!
