This discman does not skip! I literally took the cd player andshook it relatively violently and it didn't skip a note.

Of all the CD players that I have looked at, this is the best. Its not just a pretty color, it has great G-protection to let you jog, jump, do whatever you want with it. I have just ordered it in green and I am counting the days till it arrives. I hope that you will pick this product, it is a pretty and great product to invest your money in!!!!

It's only out of fashion. It's unfashionable because consumers aren't aware of great products like these. I bought this combo player/recorder about two years ago, and I've never been more pleased.

Granted, this won't convince the avid computer-based CD-RW user. But, I use my computer's CD recorder, and I still prefer this device. Record a MiniDisc with tracks in a particular order; listen; then go back to the MD and rearrange the tracks, updating the Table of Contents in less than 15 seconds. Nothing is faster or more manageable. The only questionable characteristic is compatibility, but that's for you to decide.

I wanted a unit that would be an improvement in sound over my old cd player as far as simply playing cd's, and one that could be used to record original cd's from my Roland VS 840 GX. I did several hours of research and believe the Sony RCD-W50C to be the perfect solution. I had heard complaints from some people about an audible click between tracks with most cd recorders when recording one track at a time. However, this unit has no noise at all between tracks when you set the "gap" to "on". You really ought to consider this unit. Simply put, it sounds great!

It is a great unit. The sound is incredible and the CD loads eloectronically vertical so the unit is narrow. Has a great remote for all features.

Ordinarily I'd never write a review on a cd player like a Teac but I make a big exception for this one. I own both the NAD 541 (older version) and a Rega Planet 2000; I bought the Teac Distinction C-1D for my son for Xmas. Apparently the Distinction Line is was part of Teac's venture into higher quality sound and performance (their version of Pioneer's Elite series?). There is a tuner and integrated amp in the Distinction Line that I haven't seen nor heard.

My son and I took the time to hook up the Teac to my (ever-changing) system with a Rotel integrated amp and Totem Model 1's.

What a surprise. I've had Sony and Pioneer cd players on my system before and they sounded fair to middling bu tnowhere near the NAD or Rega. The Teac Distinction C-1D sounded amazingly clear and natural. I'd venture to say they almost, but not quite, equaled the older NAD 541 in performance. Most surprising was the fact that the Teac didn't have to be embarrassed to be in the same company as either decks. Teac did something right with this cd player.

The deck is also well made. I've seen Teac decks from their other lines that look and feel like the lower end Sony/Pioneer/Kenwoods- decent quality control but a plastic-cheap feel. These feel less like plastic and more like a higher end construction- not quite there but on its way.

Quite a feat for Teac. They seem to be holding the line by introducing high-quality single players to the mid-fi set as Sony, Pioneer and the rest seem to be opting out for multi-disc players. They seems to have put a lot of thougth into making an effort to build quality- at least in this Distinction Line.

For the value and quality I'd highly recommend this particular Teac model, it's a no-brainer step-up from the plastic Circuit City/Best Buy player specials.

the first thing i have to say is that this player is CDR/CDRW compatible; i bought it a week ago at J&R ,and a played all my cdr and cdrw discs , let me tell you that have a great sound. No problems whatso ever .The reason I bought this player is that my DVD player does not play anymore CD's.just DVD's. I recommended this player to anyone who is looking for single cd player.

I have had the player for two days and it works just fine. The only thing I don't care for, is that you can only access shuffle play via the remote control. It is extremely easy to use.
