Philips CD Radio
This boombox is pretty cool for the price I bought it. It was refurbished, so I had to purchase from a seller. It came with all the proper accessories though. After using this boombox for almost 2 weeks, I find that I like it a lot. The only problems I have is that the remote control is absolutely useless unless you're just listening to a CD. You can't control anything else with it until you manually switch to the tuner feature. But that's fine because I didn't buy this product for the remote control. The other thing that slightly bothers me is that the CD player makes a faint squeak between songs when it's on shuffle mode. But all in all, for the price I paid for it..., it's a great product with excellent sound.

Great Buy!
The quality of sound is so good that it seems that the vocalists are in the room with me. The clarity is as good as and better than some more expensive boomboxes of more popular brands. (I already had one of the more expensive ones that makes a fuzzy sound when the radio is on.) It is easy to operate, too.

Great Sound
Has great sound for the price.....easy to use digital tuner.

Off on switch OK, but should have been a push button. Gave it to my teenage daughter and she loves it...

A good buy.
This is a soon-to-be dorm room stereo. It is attractive, pretty solidly put together and has a very nice sound with surprisingly good stereo separation. The CD player is also very good, and the FM tuner is well above average (actually more sensitive than the nice Bose system that won't be headed for the dorm). My only regret is that it doesn't come with a remote, but of course I knew that before I ordered.

Great Radio
If your looking for a radio with all the basics, this is the one. Although based on the picture this item may look confusing, it's not. The sound quality is VERY good and the buttons become very easy to use once you get to know the item. The display is very easy to read even in low light situations. It truly is a good radio to own for CD and Cassette playing. Radio station are very easy to tune to and CLEAR.

Great CD Boombox for the Money!
This high quality boombox is a great value. It has a lot of great features like bass enhancement and it sounds a lot more powerful than it actually is! This would make a great gift for a graduate or teen birthday.

Great Price, Great Purchase!
I exclusively use a portable CD player at the gym. So when my Memorex CD player recently stopped reading CDs (I has never happy with it), I had to go shopping for a new one. First I tried the Panasonic SL-SV550.($60) But the maximum volume was very low, so I took it back. Then I bought a Sony D-NF610. ($90) Great player, but it has a single Stop/Start/RW/FF button the size of a quarter! That was a big problem while running on the treadmill - it made it impossible to control properly! So finally I bought this Phillips CD player.($40) GREAT sound, Good controls, GOOD volume, and GOOD skip protection. And a nice unexpected surprise - The headphones that come with the player are VERY GOOD! (MUCH better than the ones that Panasonic or Sony include.)Most CD players come with low quality headphones, forcing the buyer to spend even more money on decent headphones. My final verdict: For less money than most other players, this Phillips CD player has turned out to be exactly that I was looking for - A great CD player to use at the Gym. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars - I haven't owned it long enough yet to speak on its durability.

Nice, Easy, Relieable
This was a great purchase even though it costed me 63.00 with the warrenty. It was so easy to use. I loved the FM Radio feature too. This is very relieable I have had it for a year and I have had no problems. I love this CD-Player.

Brand Name-FM Tuner-Stylish-Great Value- whats not to love?
i have had this product for a month now and i have been VERY satisfied. I couldn't find a brand-name cd player with an FM tuner for less anywhere. it comes with comfortable headphones (behind-the-neck) and a belt clip. it has never skipped, and the radio reception is almost as good as my dedicated sony walkman AM/ FM radio which cost almost as much as this. keep in mind that this device doesn't have AM. (that wan't important to me at all) Good sound quality, and pretty stylish. I've seen better, but not at this price with these features. you can preset up to 30 FM stations. It uses two AA batteries, and with 1/2 FM and 1/2 CD use, they last around 25 hours. The more you use the radio, the worse the battery life. this product is a great buy. I have been very happy with Philips.

Searching for this kind of Mini Stereo...
I definitely like the sound quality of this mini stereo. After buying and returning several mp3 stereos, i decided upon this one, and was surprised that it was able to rewind/fast forward through mp3 files (something critical that most mini stereo manufacturers touting mp3 capability have yet to add). Although the sound isn't audible while rewinding on mp3s,(minor drawback, but the positives outweigh the negatives).

I finally invested in a stereo in which, i feel the manufacturers made mp3s their main focus. Other manufacturers treat mp3 capability as an after thought. With a large collection of mp3 cds, i enjoy being able to listen to them without changing cds all the time. (have yet to hook it up to pc via usb,though)--My main concern was mp3 cds.

The sound quality is excellent. It produces a clean, balanced sound, not too bassy(more natural). DVD movies sound very good through the auxilary inputs. Only issue, is the stereo has a fan built in it, in order to keep from overheating (i guess), which isn't noticeable unless you have very quiet songs or volume turned down low. (the fan is built at the back of the unit and turns on when the unit is on(similar to a computer drive).

A little powerhouse
I was a more than a little leary of ordering this. I've not had good luck with Philips electronics in the past, but this little wonder put those fears to rest.

First of all, it looks great. I love the styling, although I'm still not real fond of the blonde speaker cabinets, but it's growing on me.

The unit sounds like a washing machine when you first turn it on, I guess it's checking each of the CD drives. The main reason I bought this was the MP3 capabilities, and I believe Philips has optimized it for that purpose. Instead of a single platter type changer, it has FIVE separate cd trays. You can play all 5 CDs straight through, but shuffle and repeat modes only apply to the current disk. So, if you load this thing with 5 CDs, it won't shuffle between all 5 disks, only the current one, then it switches to the next CD. This is fine if you want to shuffle through a homemade MP3 CD each with hundreds of songs, but not so good for plain old audio CDs.

The best feature of the unit is the sound, it is enormous for such a little thang. I have a big Sony system in my with den with huge JBL speakers, and this little dynamo sounds darn near as good.

I've compared standard audio CDs versus my homemade MP3 CDs, and I really can't tell the difference in sound quality. It has 4 equalizer and 4 reverb settings, they all sound great to me. The MAX SOUND is basically a loudness button on steroids, boosting both the highs and lows and adding some reverb. Again, I hate to keep repeating this, but it sounds great for such a little unit.

It has a clock display and a timer feature. The FM tuner is okay, it comes with one of those dopey wire antennas, I wish it had a telescoping type instead.

Overall I am very happy with this unit and would recommend it to my friends.

Great sound, Fits in a bookshelf, Plays music from computer
This is very good sounding for a small room, I have it in the basement, gets the whole family dancing. It plays CDs (CD-R and CD-RW) with MP3s on them as well as normal audio CDs. And hooked up to the computer with USB cable I can listen to the music before burning CDs, also internet radio.

Great for those who don't need all the memory.
I purchased this on sale in my local Target and it's the neatest thing since sliced bread. The USB storage device is simple to use (you don't even have to install any software if you're running Windows 2000/ME or higher) and it stores enough for a good run (52 mp3s has been the max I've been able to put on it so far). This thing eats batteries like candy, so I only give it a 4 star rating. If you do buy this, use lithium AAA batteries, not alkaline- they're more expensive, but they'll last a lot longer.

its sweet
i like it because it comes with the speakers and it can hold 80 songs i dont know why you would want a mp3 player that holds 1,000 songs

GREAT SYSTEM !!!!!!
Great sytem for the price , highly recomend for anyone wanting a MP3 player ...cool thing is it also comes with those great little speakers .....they kick --- !

Great Durable Boom Box

I shopped for several weeks for just the right boom box. I wanted something that would survive the rough construction site abuse it would have to take at work. I initially passed this one by trying to avoid push-button volume controls and radios "that look like space ships." But I came back to it because of its hardiness, even though I had vowed to get one with a rotary volume knob. Both the cassette and CD doors have mouldings inside that prevent dirt and dust from getting into the mechanisms. (Most others looked like they would let stuff get in the cracks, but if any gets into the cracks on this model it's confined to an interior trough separating it from the sensitive moving parts). It is very solid feeling and very durable.

It is stable laying flat or standing up and sounds great either way (but if you're a thump-hound you might find it a tad lacking in bass despite the "mega-bass" feature.) The preset sound settings are, at best, a fair substitute for tone control, but that's pretty standard these days. I would have liked a Jazz setting. (It has Rock, Pop, Vocal, and Live)

The store I tested it in was on the fringes of the city and so radio reception was marginal on most of the boom boxes in the store. This model, however, pulled in all my favorites without even extending the antenna. This is the primary frustration I had with my old radio, it simply didn't have a very good tuner. This one is really nice. Having a digital tuner is a very nice convenience. Plus I think it pulls in stations better than other models (both cheaper and more expensive ones).

The CD player works great as does the cassette. I have not made a recording with it yet. The alarm clock function seems like it would be useful, but the LCD display has no illumination so its alarm clock capabilities would be of limited use for me, especially at night.

This is the only boom box I have ever heard of that comes with both an AC adapter and a 12v car adapter. What a great convenience! However, the one complaint I have about this model is with the AC adapter. It is one of those "wall-warts" with a big heavy block that plugs into the wall. Every other boom box I have had just used a cord to get AC to the unit and it had the adapter built into the radio. Instead, with this model you have to lug the bulky adapter around separately. On other models you could wrap up the cord and stuff it in the battery compartment. Not with this one. The adapter is too big - it's very large, about the size of a can of SPAM. The car adapter is relatively compact although it does not fit in the battery compartment either. In short, this nicely portable radio is encumbered by having to carry bulky accessories separately.

I have not used it on battery power yet so I can't testify to its efficiency. It takes 6 D cells for the main unit and 4 AA batteries for memory backup so your preset stations will stay in memory. The clock and alarm settings are also retained.

I use this unit as my primary source of music away from home. I use it at job sites and in the office (I carry it around a lot which is why I have found the power adapter to be cumbersome). A little bit of me wishes it had a remote control, but that's less of a complaint than a testimonial to what a great radio it is -- I want to use it as a stereo. All in all it's a great item. A tad pricey for it's class but for the extra durability and dirt and water protection I found it worth the money.

Good luck and happy shopping.

Stands up to abuse!
I bought this for my husband about 1 1/2 years ago, and he is still thanking me! It bounces around either on the floor of his pickup truck or in the truck bed, and still works great. On the job, it is constantly subject to all kinds of dirt and dust, ranging from powder-fine sheetrock dust to wet, gritty mud, and is still performing without any problems. We agree that the A/C adapter block seems excessively big and can be a bit of a hassle to carry around, but it is a small price to pay for an otherwise fabulous boombox.

Good camping radio
I recieved the Sony Boom Box five days ago specifically to keep in my new camper and to have a CD player in the truck cab while driving to and from our camping destination. I was a bit concerned when I first noticed there were no bass and treble controls but found the sound button much easier to use and created great sound with it's 5 presets. The AM sound comes in with a little to much bass for my liking but others found it just fine. It also appeared to pull in the AM stations a little better than my other radio. The CD player worked flawlessly with great sound and much volume when set on the roof of the truck (not in the campground). The case appears to be very rugged and the rubber foot pads are easy on the counter tops. At nine+ pounds and with a comfortable handle it should be no problem carrying long distances. We did not get a chance to use the tape deck, but on our recent wild boar hunting trip we were lulled to sleep by Ozzy Osburn and the auto shutoff, then rudely awakened by the same with the timer. This function also works with the radio but not the cassette. Sliding volume controls would be better but you get used to the +/- buttons. The unit comes with AC and DC cords, nothing extra to buy. Battery operation was not tested as this unit will rarely leave the camper and the 12 volt outlet. My hunting buddy Bob liked it so much he's ordering one as soon as he gets home. We only tested it for 5 days but would highly recommend it.

Not so good!
I recieved this product as a christmas gift. Overall I would give it five stars, but unfortunately it stoped working after 15 months I guess that's its life. It has great sound, look, it even has a remot control.

Sound value
This is an ideal product for people who can't afford a full stereo system. The sound is crisp and does'nt give the music that "tinny" feel you normally associate with most systems in this price range. The "dynamic bass boost" adds a nice oompf to the sound without drowning out the musics' nuances. The radio reception is superb and it has a staggering 30 station preset feature; that's ten more than you get with most systems at twice this price. The easy-to-use remote is truely the icing on the cake and a godsend for lazy people like me who hate having to get up off the sofa to press the skip button on that one annoying song.
The only flaw, albeit a small one, is the cassette deck is positioned so low that the tape mechanism does'nt fully eject properly, unless it's positioned on the edge of the table or has say a book underneath. Overall though this is an attractive, great sounding product with a price tag that brings music to my ears and I highly recommend it.

Best Sounding Boombox!
Philips has really improved their technology in audio. I used to never see any of their products and now they are everywhere. Probably because the value and quality of their products can't be beat! This boombox has a lot of terrific features and it even comes with a little remote control. I don't even have to get out of the hammock to change tracks any more. Terrific bass and overall sound is great too.

Watch out before you by the EXP50117
I just bought this CD player, the problem that I find is that the resume botton, that helps to continue the music at the same moment where it was stop, only works for some minutes. After that, I have to find where I stay before and because the search is not fast, it takes a lot of time. In this case, I have always to remeber where I stop the CD. This will work when the mp3 file is not to large, but if it is a 30 minutes file, imaging you stop at the 15 minutes, it will take some time to get there.

The rest of the CD player is ok.

I don't own it,but I will very soon ;o)
I was lookin' for a MP3-cd-player and I ended up on this one...It matches all of my needs, REALLY, I visited several sites about this cool Discman (...).

You should check it out....IT BEATS EVERY OTHER DISCMAN!!!!

Great features, perfect sound, reasonable price.
I bought the RCA RP2410 (also available on Amazon.com) a couple weeks before I bought this model. The sound was poor, not only on the headphones it came with, but also on the high quality headphones and high-end stereo I own. So I quickly returned it and shopped around online. I figured I'd spend an extra 40 dollars or so and get a model I was less likely to return, so I bought this one. The sound quality is perfect; just what I was looking for. The design is gorgeous (which, ok... isn't that important, but hey, it's gotta look good, right?). And the battery life is very good as well. Also I'm a huge fan of backlit displays, and this model's is VERY handy. 100% visible in complete darkness.

The only downfall is the headphones it comes with. I WOULD recommend using your own. But they ARE free... so no biggie. Use them for spare parts. All together, I highly recommend this player.

Could use resume play after power outage
This is a nice LCD DVD player. I like the fact that this operates in DC and AC modes without bulky power adaptors. The cables and remote neatly hide in the small storage compartment. My kids figured out the operation with zero help from me.

The only feature I'd like to see is the ability to resume playback after a power outage. The 12V power plug in my car cuts out when I start the car. Unfortunately, the DVD player insists on starting all over again. This is only a small inconvenience since we use this player primarily for long trips.

Great Item;poor sound;great customer service
Pros:
Excellent video quality
Very Compact
Nice Features
Supurb costomer service

Cons:
Very poor sound (must
buy headphones to use)

All in all this is an excellent item. The Sound quality is so poor, that I couldnt use this item until I bought a pair of good head phones. The Costomer service at Amazon.com was the best Ive ever seen. The first unit that was sent to me had a problem with the screen(which should be bigger, it was innefective at this size). The LCD display would not light correctly on one side of the screen, so I sent an email to Amazon.com's costomer service center, and right away(within the next day) I revieved and answer. They said it would be fine, to just send them the deffective player, and they would send out a new one(checked over personally by them) ASAP. And I guess they did, because the new item arrived within the next week. Orrigionally I wasnt supposed to recieve the player for another two weeks, so all in all, I recieved the second, working one, before it was predicted that I would get the first one. THANK YOU AMAZON.COM. If you order this product from Amazon.com you will be amazed by the quality of the product and service.

Excellent Product
Easily the best mobile DVD player you can buy for the car, short of having an expensive professional system installed.

This unit is also safer than those "in a bag" portable DVD players, which hang on the back of the seat. Imagine what would happen in a car accident with one of those. I wouldn't want to be sitting behind it.
The RCA rests on the seat, and is buckled in with the seatbelt, a much better (and safer) design.

The only downside is there is no battery, but if you are using this for the car, or for a hotel room, you simply don't need one.

CD/Cassette/AM-FM System A Sharp, Budget-Priced Combo
This portable CD system, featuring cassette player/recorder and AM/FM radio, is a budget-minded first player for a child, or supplemental for beach, pool, or spare room. It plugs in (detachable cord included) or takes six "D" batteries.

You receive full, round sound from either recorded format. A Steely Dan CD and Gregorian chants cassette (my musical taste, what can I say?) caught most subtleties. A brief listen to an AM music station sounded deeper and richer than in the car. You miss normally standard features such as adjustable speaker balance and bass/treble control. The analogue radio dial helps for better tuning, although the short airial hinders far away signals. The advertised "Big Sound" tends more bass heavy than I prefer, but that probably won't matter to rap and hip-hop fans prefering those styles phat-bottom anyway. (You can record from CD or radio to cassette, although it's hard imaging anyone but pre-teens doing so in these Napster days).

Overall, the QT-CD210 is a solid, unspectacular purchase for passive listeners. If you need little control over sound but to pop it on or in while working or playing, this set provides reliable, affordable entertainment.

Review !
This is a pretty okay product for the price. I would surely recommend this one, if your budget is strictly around $60. It has decent sound effects. It looks pretty too. It is sad they do not have a picture here.

A great buy
Nice and compact. Not heavy. Descent sound and simple buttons. Overall a really good buy.
