much better than had anticipated
I bought this CD player about 5 days ago and while it is very good, there were two things that I thought should be mentioned. One is that every time you pause your CD, it makes a loud, piercing beeping noise until you un-pause it, which is no huge factor, but it can become quite irritating after awhile. Second, the volume is either at a low decible or muted, which is also not huge, but on my previous player, it had a scroll type volume controller, which I think is better than buttons.
But, despite those two factors, Sony's Psyc CD player is a very good piece of equipment.

excellent choice for bargain hunters
if you're on a budget; or love burning CD's the EJ100 is an excellent choice, it's got a cool, stylish design, great sound and INCREDIBLE BASS! of note are also the stylish and functional earphones and the remote which fits the bill nicely. overall this is an excellent choice for those only willing to withdraw $50 from their budgets.

Well Done Sony
I have had this walkman for only two weeks and I am definately not returning it. I love music and I wanted a great walkman and I found it. This model is a good buy because the remote is handy and no matter how much the walkman shakes and bumps I still get a crystal clear sound. There is only one con to the sony psyc walkman, the volume buttons on the main thing are too small. The remote volume buttons are bigger than the the ones on the walkman. I strongly recommend this walkman!!!!!

Good for Walking
I use this to hold my CD player while I'm on a treadmill, elliptical machine or just outside walking. It's a bit bulky but does the trick if you strap it low on hips.

Great, Soft and Practical
I purchased this for my special needs son who is 4 and needed a case for his cd player. It is very lightweight and soft and has space for a few of his cds. The adjustable belt is very easy to open and close and make larger and smaller. I am very pleased to have made this purchase.

IT'S GOOD, BUT TO BIG
This handy product is really nice, but it's just to big and bulky to carry it on your waist like it's designed to do, but it's great to use it as a hand carrying case especially if you have a lot of CD's to carry.as well as the CD player.

very convenient
This item has plenty of space for the personal cd player,cd's,car kit,ear phones,ac adapter, and more.

Wish it has a Greater Capacity
I used one for over a week now. I am happy with it. Here are some observations.

1. The belt is wide, so it is comfortable. I hardly feel it around my waist.

2. Well made. I expect this to last me for quite a while.

3. A little too small. Once my CD player is in the case, I cannot fit in much else. I figure that I probably will be able to fit in several CDs without cases behind the player, but that is it. It would be nice if I can fit in my billfold or something.

4. 2 side pockets that can be used to hold spare batteries but not anything bigger than those.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase, but then I got it on sale.

Perfect in every way I care about!
Cons:
1. It only holds 3 CD's, comforably without cases (there are pockets).
2. Hard to mess with CD-player on the move (it gives you a weird angle).
3. A bit tight for some CD-players.
Pros:
1. It fits tightly around the waist, this thing stays put.
2. Very comfortable, it's can be eaisily forgotten about.
3. Lots of extra battery space.
4. Very slim yet it has just enough padding to keep player/CDs safe.
Bottom line: the cons are just picky things on are really great CD-case. I don't see myself getting another one for many years.

There isn't 4.5 stars
Well, I just bought this today, and I loved it ever since I've had it. Blue lighting, auto dimmer, so many options. This was the cheapest I found with the standards I had (digital tuning, CD player, etc.) The remote is very useful, but too bad they don't save the radio stations (have to tune every time). But they do save the order of how you want your tracks to be played on your CD. The motorized door is such a special thing. The themal snooze is also sweet, so you don't have to find the snooze button to keep on sleeping. I did find it hard to use set the minutes and hours for the alarm and clock (hit one accidentally). But, the light on the side of the glass makes up for all of that (it looks so cool...) Pros: Digital FM/AM radio Motorized door to play CD Auto Dimmer CD-RW player Thermal snooze 2 3 inch speakers 2 antennas (for AM and FM) Memory for track order Cons: Confusing for setting time and alarm Small wire is antenna for FM radio No saved radio stations Knob used for tuning Have to hit the alarm off button after snooze (probably standard for all alarm clocks) If they had saved radio stations, I would've given this a 5. Its kind of a hassle using the knob to get to the exact station.

love it and well worth the wait
I bought one for my daughter for Christmas and she loves this compact alarm/radio/cd player with remote to boot! The motion sensor to turn off the alarm is a real cool factor for her. Now my other daughter wants one when her boom box dies. I had a great experience with Target and will definitely purchase another one.

Very good product
While others have complained about the upgraded (30) model of this player skipping, I have never had such a problem with this player skipping in mp3s even after dropping it on concrete and using it in my partially leaf-sprung truck for weeks.
What this player does do is DISPLAY ID3 TAGS and play very loudly out of the headphone jack (gets slightly distorted @ loudest possible setting). The headphones that came with it were no good at all, as are all "free" headphones. This is possibly the easiest to navigate player I've used; all the critical buttons are there and spaced and sized so as to feel different from one another in the dark.
The player features some worthless equalization modes and programming options, but goes through batteries as fast as the average mp3 Cd player. The top cover is actually made out of aluminum, which is a blessing and a curse since it will not snap like plastic, but can bend with abuse. The male portion of the hinge locking mechanism is entirely metal, and so likely much more robust than most tend to be.
The only problem I have ever had with this player is that it apparently does not have a resume feature.
While I have come to despise JVC home theater equipment (particularly their recievers), this product is one of the best of its type.

Really good, really simple, really sturdy
The reviewer from Santa Rosa said just about everything, but I have a couple things to add.

The display is large and clear, and even I, with my bad eyesight, can see everything without problems.

Even though there appears to be no resume function, the forward and reverse buttons work so rapidly that it's easy to get back where you left off.

The only equalization available is "Hyper bass", but this one doesn't seem to need any; the sound is loud and clear through a set of high-quality headphones.

Mention of the aluminum lid doesn't do this thing enough justice; I've looked at and tried a *lot* of these MP3 CD players, and this one feels sturdier than all the others. The IRiver SlimX 350 may be just as sturdy, but the JVC has a really hefty, army-tank feel to it.

I was looking for something to replace my dying TDK Mojo 620. These MP3 CD players all have different features and different trade-offs, but if I had to start over again, I'd pick the JVC XLPM20 as the overall best replacement for the MOJO.

Surprisingly unreliable
I bought this boombox just one year ago. I was please with its performance, but the cassette deck completely broke down. I called the Sony helpline for advice as to how to get it repaired, but they were of no help. I was disappointed that this boombox had broken down so quickly.

Quality and convenience
This unit has great sound, crisp and clear. Also has excellent radio reception. We live 50 miles from a major city and still get good reception for many stations. We bought it for listening to soothing music while lounging in a hammock on the porch on summer evenings. The remote is great for changing functions or radio stations or skipping tracks on a CD when we are really comfortably situated. However, I wish it had a lighted display. Otherwise it is a great system and a good value.

Solid value for the lazy folk
Solid value for the lazy folk

I've been looking exactly for this product - decent sound with both radio and CD (tape is a bonus) WITH REMOTE! There really hasn't been a middle-ground niche for reasonably-priced, decent featured audio boxes for the office/extra room/basement work area. This is the exact product solution to all my lazy needs for the various formats I like to listen to + a plentitude of functions. The Sony CFD-S39 has a nice little LCD clock, plus bonus timer functions for wake up, standby, etc. The design is quite attractive with decent heft and footprint.

The sound quality is very good - the MegaBass is not too much of an overkill. Optional 8, D-cell batteries make a nice power backup for your clock/presets even with power outages. I love the remote - CD + radio functions can be easily controlled at a distance.

Minor negative attributes is the absence of audio RCA jacks input/outputs - but I suppose that's how they keep the cost down. The only other minor frustration is the interface layout/programming. A few of the buttons serve as dual functions and it's not as intuitive as many other Sony well-designed products.

Great but delicate.
The sound and G-Protection on this cd player are amazing. i shook it hard for a full FORTY SECONDS and it didn't skip. however, i dropped it two or three times, and it broke. the peice of plastic that holds the laser on the track cracked, so it wasn't directly parallel with the cdanymore and it wouldn't play. however, if you keep it in a padded case, it should be fine.

real nice
This product rocks. The built-in rechargeable battery feature is cool because I hate buying new batteries all the time for these things.

The sound is great, it never skips when I'm working out or in my car. The accessories are of high quality, as is the unit itself. It's very intuitive/easy to use.

I can't give it five stars because I haven't had it long enough, and besides, these portable gadgets are never perfect, but, this comes close so far.

Roboportable
What is the life expectancy of molded plastic electronics in the concrete jungle? Two to three years if you are lucky and very careful I would guess. This particular unit is a a poor mans mobile unit that takes lots of abuse not to mention the regular shock that the patented G Force was made to withstand. I took this unit on many a Baja road that is like the surface of the moon and the thing never skipped a beat. Like the Timex watch it takes a lickin and keeps tickin, I mean playin. This is like the energizer of portables and has more lives than the proverbial cat. I have dropped my unit over the years numerous times on the concrete only to rattle it and find it continues playing; except the last. Finally after three plus years it was demoted to car duty only since it doesn't play as a portable anymore because of too many bumps and bruises. The thing is a marvel of abused electronics, it glows bright red in the dark as if daring you to make it stop. The chargeable batteries are an additional bonus and simple and quick to charge up. As usual the phones are average to mediocre at best but all the other stuff works fine.I recently had a problem with the cassette insert for the car but I'm inclined to believe it is the car deck itself rather than the portable. The remote is unnnessary unless you are a complete lazetron who needs a gadget in his hand at all times. I tried making use of the remote but felt it was a frivolous novelty and not very practical. This is the destructo of portables. With an upgrade in phones it was sweet music to my ears before it was 'broken."A very good unit to have when you are on the run for all your physical activities and you won't skip a beat.

Very good sound at decent price
I bought this unit to put in a workout room for background music. After loading the cd's and listening to some of them, I was very impressed with the features and sound of this system. Very good sound for the money. Nice way to store cd's also. Works like a mini jukebox.

Chock Full of Features
I bought this online several months ago and am very pleased with both the sound and functional quality, however it has so many features that I often need to keep the manual handy to figure out how to use them, and I'm not the kind of person who normally needs to do this, you with me?

THE BEST
I just bought this and it is the est sounding mini system i have ever heard in my life. I have gone through many cd playyers and none of them compares to this one.

Great System
Eventhough this is made by the same folks that make Panisonic stuff it works great! It has lot of cool stuff, like a blue light that lights up the display, you may want to turn this off or on. On with all the lights off and some jazz playing makes for a great night! Some lowlights are, it only holds one CD so you have to keep getting up and changing the CD when you are done. It has another good feature called CD Text, this will list the songs for you on a screen. You can have it scroll or just view a portion of the title. (Not all CD's have this option) Check this out. GREAT PRICE 2!

A GREAT BUY FOR CERTAIN SPACES AND TASTES
Although there are four separate components and plenty of dials, toggles, and buttons, this is not the set for tinkerers who demand control of the sound. There's a button that gives you enhanced bass and a dial that supplies fine tuning of the tweeter, and that's it! Not even the ability to balance the speakers. The flip side of course is simplicity, and simplicity is the name of the game from assembly to operation of these handsome components and speakers. Just link everything together, plug it in, and enjoy impressive sound. Impressive, that is, for everyone but those who want to rattle the walls with amplified rock and loud orchestral compositions. They should look elsewhere. But for those who, like my wife and I, live in snug apartments and whose tastes run to small-group jazz and classical chamber music with emphasis on solo piano, violin, guitar, sax, and trumpet, Technics has put together a terrific audio system. Just squeeze it in wherever there's room and let it fill your space with warm, balanced sound.

Blue Neon
With it's cool blue lights, this micro-system really has an incredible look. Even tough it's very small, the sound comes comes loud and clear. You can play your music as loud as you want without a bit of distortion! The only negative point I see would be the cassette player which looks very nice but maybea little cheap and complicated: a door similar to the one of the CD player opens and a little rack pulls out.
