Not so great
Well I've had it for almost 2 years and it just stopped working yesterday. Granted, I have dropped it a few times in the past but it was fine after I dropped it. I haven't dropped it in a loooong time. The problems I've had with it are 1) the anti-skip wasn't so great; 2)the headphones broke (only one "ear" would play) after only a few months and I bought another set of Sony headphones and the same thing happened, and two more sets of Aiwa headphones and guess what! The same exact thing happened. I thought these were supposed to be the good brands?? 3) Another problem with this Discman is that when I used batteries, the display (i.e.Song #13 or how long the song has been playing)was faded or I could only see half of the numbers. It didn't do that when I used an adapter; and finally 4)Lately what would happen is I would stop listening to one CD, put in another immediately, and when I tried to play it it wouldn't work. So I took out the batteries, put the same batteries in again, and it would play. Well finally yesterday when I did that it wouldn't play at all even though I changed the batteries several times, put brand new batteries in, etc. Great now I have to buy another one. I had an old Sony Discman and it worked for YEARS. I'm sorry that I gave it away now. No it wasn't fancy looking like this one nor nearly as expensive but it worked.

Great...Until it breaks!!!
This is a really great CD player until it breaks!! I've had it for about 2-3 years and all the features are really excellent. The headphones are nice and it's generally easy to use. A few months ago the LCD screen started to go, which was a big pain because it is really hard to adjust the volume and the what song you're on. One day I tried to turn it on and it wouldn't go. I tried new battteries, hooking it up to the wall, etc. It just died. Now I'm really mad because it was expensive and only served 2-3 years. Come on Sony-this is just cheap!!!

I love the groove option.
If you dont already have one of these you should get one. I never use the headphones that came with it(Optimus is nicer) but the portable cd player is really great. The groove option makes bands sound like what they are:bands. You should be careful not to drop it and even if the thing does break you can just use a regular stereo.

Hip hop
This is a tight cd player, but the only thing that is missing is the heavy bass sound. If you listen to rap music you want that heavy bass but I still recommend this cd player to anybody, its one of the best cd players that I own. If you want cd player that got a heavy bass go copp the Sony DSJ15 Portable CD Walkman.

Vlad
This is the best CD player I've ever listened to.
I've tried every iRiver, RioVolt , etc..and this is the best!
I usually listen to jazz and some rock and this guy rocks! Smooth bass and at the meantime it's fast, middles are distinguish and bright, highs are crispy and not annoying. You can listen to music for hours without getting tired which is the hi-fi attribute of quality. It's definitely not a MP3 player and it shouldn't be! If you really want a hi-end sound it's always on CD's , not in MP3 disks. I've got an MP3 Player too.
It's Sony D-CJ01(with remote $40 on ebay.com) which is a winner for MP3's on disks.
I think everyone who is about to buy the similar product (Sony D-EJ2000)has to realize what he or she is going for. If you need a perfect sound, then this CD Player is exactly what you need.
Highly recommended with a new pair of headphones!

the best portable cd player so far in the market
I have used many different brands/models of portable CD players, about 10 top models of Sony, Panasonic, and Philips in the last two years. This is far the best one ever, unbelievably light, and works extremely well. I recommend this highly to anyone looking for a new portable CD player. If there are anything to complain about, it is the headphone that comes with it - but Sony's CD walkmans all come with terrible headphones, and that's that. Just get yourself a decent headphone and you will not have any regrets.

HELP - Tuning
Sorry, this product was delivered -1 manual... (not from amazon - i might add! :) ). I heard it and can give some good sound for its size. If someone could please email me at dag6@kent.ac.uk, how you preset a station into it I would really appreciate it... The only function that is not clear at all on the radio.... Many thanks.... buy and enjoy....

P.S Remember to push the megabass button, it sounds much better with it! :)

Great CD player
I received this CD player as a birthday present and started using it immediately. So far, I have not been disappointed by it. The sound quality is excellent, although I've never been much of an audiophile. I haven't had any problems playing CDs, whether they were bought CDs or CDs that I burned myself. The volume levels are good and there's a good range of volume. Some people complain that certain CD players don't play loud enough, but the volume level on this CD player goes quite high, so if you like your music loud, you can hear it loud. The radio function is great, with good reception. I especially like the jogdial, which allows you to move from track to track on CDs or from radio station to radio station with ease, and the remote control is an added bonus, although I don't use it that often. Over all, a great product with a reasonable price tag.

Good Looks and Sound Quality
This is actually a review of Sony CFD-E75 CD/Radio/Cassette Boombox (Silver), exact thing except color. I "borrowed" this from my wife when I found I didn't have any cassette players (except in a car) and had to listen to a cassette. I was impressed by the sound quality for spoken word cassettes. Everything sounds normal like a human is talking! I've also listened to music cassettes and music CD's and am just amazed at how good this sounds. The "wheel" for selecting CD tracks is a great idea and is used for tuning the radio when in "radio" mode. That makes it easy to find your station.Speaking of which, this model has a "real" three section, rotating antenna, not a skinny little wire hanging out the back What won me over though was the FM AND AM reception on the radio section of this item. We live in an area where the big broadcast antenna are on a hill real close to our home so we've always had problems with radio reception. A good adjustable Bass with the Sony "Mega Bass" button does change the sound noticably. I like the styling and I keep the thing on the night stand next to my head so haven't needed the remote. I guess I'll let my wife keep that. HA HA

This was a good purchase. She swears she got ot for considerably less than the price shown. But even at the price shown, I think it's darn well worth it!
Highly Recommended!

looks very nice but it is useless
I bought it because it looked nice and because it uses Smart Cards, but it is a flop. The menu is impossible to navigate, the manual not helpful at all, and the software that comes with it is basically useless. The manufacturer does not offer the patches required to make it work with Windows XP. The letters on the screen are hard to read. Good sound and the FM radio included is a good feature, but it is not worth the hassle of going through the installation. The buttons are confusing, too many functions in too few buttons. The remote control is even harder to use. After trying to instal it in a brand-new laptop I gave up and had to return it. Why not paying a bit more and getting a hard drive memory MP3 player with several GB that will allow one to store tons of music...that's what I did and bought a Zen NX Jukebox with 20 GB. I transferred all the music I had in my 7 128 MB SmartCards and still have over 17 GB to go!

MAC ver.X
Dis-Advantages:
Upgrade Mpio Manager from web site as interface is unable to resize. Fixed with new version.
Unable to support Smart Media cards larger than 128 mb according to manual.
Suggestion get encoder for MP3 encoding.
I gave only 4 stars because I was not happy with software.( Not the MPIO Manager the other thing that was included)
I Use MusicMatch Jukebox Plus and hopefully support would be added in the future.

It's great
This mp3 player is great!! It looks better than I thought. The manual doesn't help though. That is the only thing that sucks. You could make playlists too - I didn't know this until I made a playlist. It comes with downloading software - .99 per song.

Definately worth it's price...
Well, I've been searching for a new CD player for a while, since the one I had was the Sony Discman from 3 years ago. I'm a high school student and I *LOVE* music and being in style, so when I decided to get a new CD player, I was willing to pay a lot of money to get a high quality, stylish CD player that can handle the harsh high school environment (if you went, or go to high school, you'll know what I mean). Well, the first thing that caught my eye was the headphones. I liked the idea of having a mini subwoofer on the back of my neck because I listen to fast music with lots of bass. I also loved how the CD player looked like. For about a month, I just went from site to site looking at it's reviews and searching for a good price for the CD player. Anyways, there's a red and black one with silver accents (the one I got) and a blue and silver one. Some reviews said this product sucked and max volume was too low, and some said the headphones didn't do much and were uncomfortable, and some said the CD player didn't work right or something. Well in my opinion, this CD player is just fine. Actually, it's AWESOME!! At first when I got the product, I was disappointed, but then I realized I didn't plug in the headphones all the way. When i finally had control of the product, IT BLEW ME AWAY!!! The vibrating may not really be bass, but it sure feels like it, and it definately kicks the music up and makes it a lot more intense and fun to listen to. For so much options built into a small CD player, it has AMAZING sound quality. This may not be Bose (for you music product illiterates, Bose is probably the most expensive and high quality brand of sound products), but it can definately match up to it. The headphones seem to make the music even more powerful than the huge Sony system in our living room. So if sound and bass is what you're aiming for, this CD player definately has it. As for the headphones, they aren't nessecarily uncomfortable, but I have to admit, after a few minutes, the headphones do begin to hurt. They feel fine for the first half hour or so, but they get slightly painful. But it's still worth the extra bass it gives you, so just use the little pads it comes with. The headphones are also very light. I had expected them to be like huge and heavy because of the bass thing, but its surprisingly very light. Although I haven't broken it YET, the band does seem kind of weak so be careful. These headphones by it self [are expensive]. I am also a very clumsy person. I tend to spill things and drop things and hit them on accident often. This CD player is water-proof (I can spill my drinks on it and not worry! not that I do it on purpose..), it has a very sturdy metal/aluminum cover, and it has a HOLD option, which prevents things from accidently touching it and messing up your songs or whatever. One thing though, the CD player's inside seems a little unsturdy. When you open it, you see the band connecting the controls on top of the CD to the inside of the CD. I dunno.. it just kind of makes me feel like it might break or something. Also, if you're panicing because you can't find where to put the batteries, it's also on the inside. In a way,t his may be strange or you may think it's bad, but it prevents batteries from falling out, and also, just because it's new doesn't mean it's bad. When you are done playing the CD player, you can push a small button in the middle of the CD (where it clutches the CD)and it will pop out. Easy. Overall, this is definately a high quality CD player with great sound and great bass and looks stylish. Except, I'm not too sure about the sturdy thing.. the insides of it just freak me out. That tiny little plastic band... anyways, I hope this helps! Get it! I can't think of a better CD player!

You have to buy it, to believe it!
WOW! I love this CD Player. Not only is it the coolest looking CD player in the market (I love the red and black color, and its so compact!), it has the best sound system you can imagine.

Truly, this little, compact, tight CD player is the best. I am an avid jogger/dancer, and my one and only problem was the constant skipping, and halting of any other CD player I had. Well, I have kissed that problem goodbye. I jump, I shake, I just move everything you can imagine, and this awesome CD player does not miss a single beat!

I was soo amazed. Believe me, I had a Sony sports walkman, and this Panasonic SLSW880K rocks compared to it. The remote control feature on the headphones is pretty nifty. The VMSS sound shaker is mind boggling in itself. What else can I say except, if you really want an OUT there sound enhancing and body bumping CD Player, then this is the one for YOU!

Three so far...
...because I buy them for friends!...the headphones make it...I'm spoiled forever now...Great sound, however, they could fit a little better...I've tried to make this one skip and I can't, even my teenage nephews cannot...The best portable tape/CD player I've used so far...

CD Unit Doesn't Take & Keep: No support.
I bought this system used from a reputable dealer on Ebay. It was supposedly 8 mos old and in fine condition. After setting
the unit up with help from an electronics technician--the Manual is very poor, undetailed and does not even include contact numbers or logins to reach Sony--I got a big surprise. The CD(s) when fed in kept being spit out. We tried to get
a CD to stay in. I tried many different CDs, all which played
well on other boom boxes and systems. The CD would not be
accepted.

I did not buy for MP3 use. The system looks better than
depicted. The radio sound was okay. I wanted a multi-play
CD system. I had looked at the comparable Panasonic unit
but decided to go "Sony." My experience with a top loading
Panasonic system was not good. The Sony doesn't even take.

I live near Orlando. The nearest service center is 140 mi.
away. The vendor did not have the warranty. To send it back for service = $140 + shipping.

A local serviceperson stated this was a "throw-away" item in that if it broke, the repairs were nearly impossible.

I must throw it away. Sony! Any suggestions? The micro-chip(s)
tied into the CD system is/are bad. Factory installed, go try finding any or fixing it.

Thought about it
I did not acutally buy this system because after playing with it in the store I realized you have to stop the CD that is playing to add or change another one. I found that to be slow and annoying.

So I bought the Sharp XLHP500, which does have play exchange, wonderful sound quality, and great looks. Check it out.

Excellent shelf system!
I just bought this system 2 days ago. It works great. The sound quality is excellent. The ability to play mp3s is what makes this an great buy. I can store 100+ songs on a single CD if they are in mp3 format.

Pretty Darn F-unny
Sorry, but I came upon one which started out broken - not mine, but a client's. Regardless of how it broke (I don't know), it's not worth fixing simply because the repair cost is likely to eclipse the replacement cost. It should either have been 1) designed to not fail or 2) designed to inhibit chances of breakage.

Throwaway items are no longer acceptable in our current business or consumer environments. Therefore, this one gets a wholehearted "thumbs down."

CD Roulette 101
Pioneer makes a good "basic" unit here. A somewhat bulky black box... remember, it holds up to 101 cd's standing upright. Limited features: 3 group files to program your cd's into... not enough for me. If my kids have one file, my wife has another one, that leaves me with ONE file for my many moods (classic rock, metal, oldies, jazz, etc). My next cd player will have more of these group files. This unit has a nice feature in the "Best" button - letting you program up to 20 of your favorite tunes and making them play at the touch of one button after you turn the power on. It has the standard (repeating) random button. The display on the PD-F908 is average... track # (where the cd sits in the roulette rack, track/song #, and time (no 'reverse' time to let you know how much time is remaining on the song - bad for making home recordings). Along with more group files, my next cd player will have cd text. I like knowing what's playing, and not have to revert back to the cd cases or the piece of paper I usually have them written down on. Overall a good unit and super price (consider what you are getting for the $$$) from a well-known maker... as "basic" as it may be.

Simple, affordable...a good choice.
If you survey reviews for multi-CD players like this one, you may find many horror stories of discs falling around inside when the players go wrong. I didn't find any complaints for this unit, no stories of rampant lemons, and the price was good, so I made the leap and bought it - upgrading from a 5-CD player to this 100-CD model. I've had it for about a month and am pleased. I have several different brands of CD-Rs in it and they all play fine. The discs change faster than I expected (having been warned that these kind of units tend to be slow), and the changer, while not quiet, is not particularly noisy. The random mode is wonderful - that's the reason to buy a unit like this; it is like your own radio station - and from what I can tell, it plays 100 songs and then stops. This is good, since if you fall asleep with it playing, you probably don't want to wake up eight hours later to discover it's been going all night. 100 songs in a row is several hours - perfect for an evening. The fiber optic output really does have more clarity - it was a subtle difference, but I finally understood some lyrics that had always been a mystery to me.

No complaints about this unit except for some internally placed amber LED lights that flash on and off when the disc is changing. Soon as I can, I'm going to get some black electrical tape and cover those flashies over. Also, I couldn't get the universal Pioneer remote control to control this CD player, so I ended up just using two remotes.

Another benefit of having a 100 CD player is you can include some of your CD singles. Myself, I never listened to my CD singles because it was a pain to load one disc up for only a couple songs. But when they are part of a 100 CD mix, suddenly the singles have a real purpose. If you have a bunch of singles, and are concerned you'd fill up the 100 slots too fast, nothing would stop you from burning a bunch of your singles onto one CD (if you have a CD burner in your computer); using random play, you'll hear tracks you haven't heard in a long time.

Unreliable
I owned this player for almost two years before it had an irreperable failure. The same goes for the 60 CD version which I also owned for two years before its mechanism jammed and failed. This twice-shy buyer will never again buy a Technics or Panasonic product.

Not up to the hype...
Hmmmm. It seems like a safe investment, doesn't it? Technics. Good company. But I've owned mine for a couple of years, and right from the beginning I've had lots of problems. CD's get stuck frequently, and it is NOT a good cd player overall, as some other reviewers here have mentioned, sometimes brand new cd's will skip terribly, so then you check your new album, and lo and behold...no scratch, nothing. And I too have taken mine to a repair shop, where I was finally told, it simply is not a good player. It's not all bad, but these are considerable problems( and if your cd actually does have a scratch, forget it. It's not worth the aggravation you'll go through skipping tracks, even a minute scratch...), and the pretty blue lights just don't make up for it. Don't say you were not warned...

Very nice
This CD Changer is very nice. I would probably recommend it to almost everyone. The only thing I dislike about this specific changer is the fact that it doesn't have anything but the RCA audio out ports. It would be better if it had a digital output.

1 OV THE BEST CD PLAYERS
I GOT THIS CD PLAYER AND NOT ONCE HAD ANY PROBLEMS. I LOVE THE SOUND BUT THE HEAD PHONES ARE WRACK, I ADVISE YOU TO BUY BETTER HEAD PHONES. THIS WOULD BE THE BEST! CD PLAYER IF IT HAD MP3, WHICH ANOTHER VERSION OV THIS CD PLAYER ALREADY HAVE IT. YES BUY THIS CD PLAYER ITS GOOD AND YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

This is a great Player, highly recommended
I got this player as a present around 1 year ago. I was really impressed with the sleeknesss and cool design, and how it had an AM/FM tuner. (it has AMAZING reception for a cd player! I live in pittsbug and I got stations from PHILADELPHIA! pa)

As for playing CD's, it has never failed me. Not once, not ONCE has this player skipped. For background info, although it does not say so, it is really water resistant. (I am a member on a swim team that goes to long 1 week away meets almost once a month, and this player goes with me EVERYWHERE. To the pool, hotel, restaurants, everywhere I have dropped it a few (to say the least...) times, and it played great afterwards.))

The headphones, are, erm... not the greatest. (Since I gave it 5 stars, all of the other good features out-weighed the bad ones...)They sound fine, but i do recommed getting new ones. (you don't have to spend a lot either, i am currently using Koss KSC-50's, wich sound GREAT, and they were only $13)

The sounds that the player picks up on the sound are incredible. really. I am currently using Good Charlotte 'The Young and the Hopeless' and one track 4, you can hear the guitars as if they were right near you. You can hear their fingernails plucking the strings. ( Its not a bad thing, they sound so much better!) The on thing I do have to point out is the bass. IT IS OUTSTANDING!

The only other thing I complain about is the ambsence of a clip or hand strap, but i bought one and it works fine.

I highly recommend this player. (It is ANYTHING BUT flimsy..... no hard feelings!)

frustrating
This is a mediocre CD player. It plays your CDs with decent sound, nothing more, nothing less. It's very wierd, however, that I have dropped this player over 10 times. I've owned several portable CD players and have dropped this one more than all of my others combined. It also has so pause button, which should be illegal. Its the first CD player I've ever seen with no pause button. Also, with the Super Bass thing on, I'll turn it up to full volume and it'll make popping sounds. I also hope you don't intend to jog (or do anything where you need to move) because it will skip all the time.
The bottom line: buy this if you see it for cheap or you won't be using it much, other wise go with something else.

Not as bad as they Say
Everyone is saying bad stuff about this player and I don't think it's bad. I use it all the time. It's got good sound and the mega boost doesn't ruin the music. The batteries last an ok time frame. The only bad things are the missing pause button and that about every time you knock the player it moves. Overall, it's got good music but better for people who don't move around alot.

Takes a lickin...
I have owned this one for 5 years now and it's I'm telling ya, it's still working perfectly. I've dropped in many times and it's so durable. The bass on it is pretty good. It shows you when the battaries need to be changed. My only complaint this whole time was that it skips very easily. Whether I'm just walking with it or if I'm in the car and we hit a bump, it skips. I'm buying a new one for the MP3 feature, but I don't think I'll give this one up ot throw it away!
