This unit has great, clear sound, especially with HDCD discs. But it will often choose not to play them, and absolutely will NOT play CDr's. Also, I found I had to leave the power on at all times, or else it would have to "warm up" for twenty minutes or so to play the CDs it did happen to like without skipping. I got sucked in by the name. After suffering through 3 different crappy Sony Cd changers one would think I would have learned that lesson.

A friend just gave me a free, dusty, abused CD jukebox changer, and while the sound quality is not as clear, at least it works! It hasn't missed a track yet, even with the home-made CDr's. Off to the trash with the Harman Kardon!

I've just got this player last friday. I must say that I was quite happy with the way it sounds but, after just five days of very light use (I hardly played more than 15 CDs since friday) it's already refusing to work properly! It just wont play discs that my 15 year old Sony CD-player had no trouble playing!

I read some alarming reviews about the former version of this model but I was confident that the mechanical bugs described in those reviews had been fixed on this newer version! Apparently I was wrong!!!

Last night I wrote a review about the wonders of the Harman Kardon receiver (HK-3480) that I bought along this CD-player. I guess that Harman Kardon still has a lot of homework to do with their CD-players!

I'll ask for my money back and will start looking again for a decent CD-player!!!

the audio quality of the HK is wonderful, and it does have nifty programming features.
But--the carousel grinds very loudly. louder than the music, and loud enough to hear from 2 rooms away. opening the tray is also very loud, and sounds like an old chevy motor. This is why it isn't a 5 star. i expected much better.

We bought dozens of these for our classroom music staff and many have stopped working in less than three months or were defective right out of the box, so this isn't a fluke. The customer service is awful, both from the seller and from Aiwa. These were a big waste of money and we will never again buy this brand.

I was pleased with the size of the system, but the speakers could be a little bit better (the sound was slightly tinny). i substituted a better quality pair of aiwa speakers already in my possession, and got better performance. remote control was missing from the box.

I got this CD-player as a gift for Christmas. Not even a month later and I'm already thinking of going out and buying another. It is the worse! It will be in the middle of playing a song then it stops or it refuses to play at all. It consistently stops for no reason. It has anti-shock yet it stops when I move. Basically that's all it does... stop, stop, and stop! I am always changing the batteries and that doesn't make a difference. I can't believe the horrible quality of this product. It is really disappointing.

I bought this personal CD player about a year ago and it was wonderful at first. It hardly ever skipped and it had great sound quality. It was great for about six months, but then the quality started to decrease. It skipped like crazy, and half the time it didn't even play. It wouldn't play anything for about four months, but then a little while ago, I got it to work again. But even then, it would skip so much I couldn't even listen to a CD on it. I even set it down flat on a table and didn't move and it STILL skipped. So, I do not recommend this product. Get a Sony or a Panasonic instead of wasting your money on this.

This CD player wont work in the car, it wont work when I'm sitting on the train at times because of the slight vibration, it hardly works when I'm walking, in general, it should only be used if your going to leave it on a table or something flat and never touch it while it's in play mode. The bass boost makes everything sound distorted, the anti-shock is a total joke, and on top of everything, it's bigger and heavier then the average portable CD player.

My advice to you, buy this item for someone you want to avoid for the rest of your life.

The play quality of this player is, really, quite good...so long as you don't mind really annoying buzzing sounds every minute or so. For some reason the anti-skip feature really doesn't work for very long and, if on for a while, it will stop playing the CD and just have this really annoying buzz sound, that will only go away if you take off the anti-skip (which really defeats the purpose of it). I would not reccomend this product to anyone looking for a good CD player...it's not worth it.

I received this product as a gift and have had nothing but problems with it. After only 2 weeks of use, it is already completely "dead".

First of all, it doesn't really fit in my car, as the company claims it will. We managed to get it installed and it worked great...for about 3 days. It occassionally locked up while playing a CD. I mean REALLY locked up - to the point where it had to be turned off and back on again. Then it mysteriously erased all my preset radio stations for no apparent reason (other online reviews mention this also). Now the entire screen is blank and NONE of the buttons work! Therefore, the radio doesn't work either. Needless to say, I'm sending it back.

I thought I was getting a great deal for an MP3/CD player for my car. I didn't want anything expensive, but I wanted something that would last. This was not the deck to get.

I've had it for less than three months. The player 'skips' on a brand new disc while sitting still (no bumps from driving). If the disc has the smallest scratch on it, the cd will skip (this doesn't matter if it is MP3 or CD). Also, the LCD has already gone out. There is no backlighting at all, so you can't read anything on the LCD.

I'm extremely disappointed in this product and wouldn't recommend to anyone.

I purchased the 2500 model... and right out of the box had an array of problems. ....

Second, it was impossible for me to add chapters.

Third, and most annoying, this model's make compatible command does not work and therefore recorded DVDs cannot be read by other DVD players.

Fourth, Cyberhome does NOT respond to email.

I returned this product after playing a half does or so DVD's. I had it hooked to a 1996 27' Sharp via composite yellow cable. I played a half dozen or so DVD's, most brand new. The picture 'flickered' at scene changes. This was very annoying. Some DVD's were worse ( flickering at almost every scene change) than others (flckering 4-5 times per movie). I never got around to recording or even playing cds because the DVD playback was unaceptable. Made in China. Their US customer support was difficult to locate and could not help.

When there are bright white scenes in the movie, the player will not read it and the screen goes black. This is kinda annoying. I have burned CD's with it and it does a good job. You cant switch the CD out and pick songs off another one and burn them though. You have to record the entire CD for it to work. Not my first choice for a product but what did I expect for 150 dollars

This is the worst purchase I've ever made. The radio didn't tune correctly, the sound was bad (even with CDs).

When I tried to get an RMA to have it fixed it took over a month.

Now they've had it for over a month and I have heard nothing. When I wrote to request my money back, I got absolutely no response.

Save your money and sing to yourself.

The worst sounding boombox I've heard. No bass at all, although it claims to have a bass boost. All the components in it are crap ! It is also very heavy. I guess the manufacturer has mistaken weight for quality.

As the previous reviewer stated, the sound coming from this "boombox" is not very good. I didn't expect Bose quality, but when you plop down 110 bones, you can get far more quality from one of those "ultra-bass" stereos at Costco at a cost of about $150.

The controls, although they looked choice in the pictures I saw before I bought this item, in actuality they are ultra-cheap plastic and very flimsy. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the first items to fail on this thing.

I guess the only plus for this thing is the enclosure it sits in. Looks and feels rugged. Waterproof. If the stereo doesn't last, this box may make a good container of some sort.

Skip on this Jeep boombox and get a real one with better quality.

I received this as a gift and know the Grundig name typically as a quality product. The sound was so poor I decided there must be something wrong with the unit. I called the Grundig tech support and explained that I heard a very tinny sound with no bass at all. The tech without pause said "Thats typical with all of those units." He further continued to say "you'll get some bass response with the headphones but thats as good as it gets." I couldn't believe something with a $150 price tag was known to sound so bad. Do not waste your money on this product.

Unfortunately, my husband bought this piece of junk well before I'd had a chance to read any reviews. I think it's all been said before, but this CD player is a complete rip-off, and an expensive rip-off at that! We were wondering why we only got a couple hours out of a set of batteries, but apparently it's not just us; the problem is inherent in this poor excuse for a CD player. And if you still think you might like to buy one, you can have mine. I'm going to buy something that works.

I purchased this to wake up to a CD. It takes 40+ seconds to fill the buffer for the anti-shock system. During this time, the CD stutters. Extrememly annoying. You can shut the anti-shock system off, but only after it begins playing. By that time I'm awake and irritated.

Other than that, I like it.

. . . that's putting it nicely. The CD player - when it works - skips if you even so much as look at it. The sound quality is same as those tin-can string "telephones" that we used to make when we were kids. My expectations were pretty low when I ordered it because of the low price, but if I knew then what I know now of this product they couldn't give it to me.

There's another product that looks *almost* like this, but also include a fog-free mirror, more CD features, and better sound quality. Go for that one instead!

This radio lasted 3 days in my shower. Then suddenly it just wouldn't turn off. Even though the power was supposedly turned off, it would suddenly emit noise. I finally had to remove the batteries...and return it to the store!

Ditto on all previous reviews. Nothing to commend this device.

This is a horrible, horrible product. I keep it in my baby's room. When the power goes out (as it does occasionally) and comes back on, the alarm is blaring. It woke my son up today for the LAST time. I took this sorry product and put it straight in the trash. The sound quality is lousy, the commands for the CD player and confusing and don't always work, and then there's that alarm problem. Don't waste your time on this junk.

I wanted an inexpensive clock radio & CD player with relatively good sound. The CD quality is great, but after owning the clock for just one month, the radio tuning dial broke. Now I must guess the stations, as the indicator is stuck between 94 and 96. If you plan to use this clock primarily for the radio feature, there have to be better products on the market!
