this is the best cd player ever. ive gone thru 3 cd players in 2002. the first three couldnt take my kluzness.(i dropped those things alot) well this helps in two ways. 1) it has this AWESOME hand strap, that makes it easy and convenient to get the volume and song selector button (i think thats what its called)and 2) if i was to drop it down the elevator shaft at the sears tower it still wouldnt skip, let alone break. if you need a new cd player, go with this one. its well worth the 50.00 above the other sonys ive seen. and the head phones are awesome. sooo much better than those wraparounds that just dont like my ears.

I have gone through 3 portable cd players in the past few years, dropping one down the stairs, the volume knobs fell off another and the 3rd just decided to stop working. Then I bought this one, it is great, so much better than any of the other ones I have owned. I go to the gym daily and run with this cd player on my hand, it's convient and tough and it has NEVER skipped. I can't say enough good things about this cd player, it's definitely worth the extra money!

I am notoriously clumsy and am known to break electronics extremely quickly. Before purchasing this CD player I had gone through five CD players within the space of a year (of various brands...i think i had two panasonics, one classic, one other kind of sony, and one aiwa). I decided to splurge a little for this discman and was not disappointed. I have had this for almost two years now, drop it almost daily (often from considerable height onto tile floors or concrete), often store it at the bottom of my heavily loaded backpack and it is still in perfect working order. I think that the sound functions are starting to go, as i now have to purchase new headphones every two weeks, but I think I will buy the exact same discman again to replace it, because it is by far the best CD player I have ever had.

Great deck for the money, features are well thought-out w/respect to ergonomic location, labeling, etc. Downside to this unit (as with so many others) is the relatively poor documentation found in the owners manual - difficult to read. Manual basically labels component features but provides no additional info as to their practical use or interaction. For instance; the unit boast of "Fader-start". However, this will only work with certain models of DJ mixers - the manual does not list compatible models, nor does it list the tech specs on the "fader-start" interconnects.

A TALE OF THREE ENTERTAINMENT CENTERS.

THE FIRST Crosley Entertainment Center that I owned was defective or damaged in shipping. The turntable speeds were all slower than they were supposed to be. It was impossible to play a 33 record at any speed. In addition, the turntable was crooked and off balance. The unit made sounds (clicks and static) when music was not playing. AM reception was okay,but FM reception was full of static.

THE SECOND ONE: I then looked at a friend's Crosley. It played records, tapes and cassettes, and the sound was all right. Unfortunately, the FM reception was poor.

THE THIRD ONE: The replacement Entertainer that I received had the same problems with FM reception but played all the media adequately.

The style of this item is very attractive, especially the wood cabinet. It looks wonderful. Unfortunately, it needs an amplified indoor FM antenna ($14.00 - 60.00). However, it lacks a coaxial connector that would allow you to connect the Crosley to an indoor FM antenna. The audio components (CD drawer, controls, tone arm, speed level, turntable, cassette drawer) function but seem cheaply made. The tone arm looks as though it will break if used by a teenager or adult who is unfamiliar with record players.

In summary, I really like the appearance of the Crosley. A negative is that it needs an FM antenna, but, as I am told, it cannot be connected to one. It also needs owners that will treat it gently. It does look very attractive! If the Entertainer cost $ 100 or less, I would recommend it with these reservations.

I bought this record player a little more than a year ago and it has been great. It has worked on every record I put in it and always came out clear. I was surprised by the quality and give it five stars.

The CD player itself may be good, but the accessories are not. I bought it because it had a car kit. Well, the cassette that goes into the tape deck made a crackling sound so that it sounded like I was listening to a scratchy old record instead of a CD. The instruction sheet actually mentioned that this could happen. If they know about this problem, why haven't they tried to fix it?

It also played very low. I had to turn the volume up all the way just to get it to a decent listening level. And then there is the beeping problem mentioned in another review. It will make a very loud beep every time you change tracks. You can turn it off, but you have to remember to do it every time you plug it in. I can't figure out why they would make it to do that in the first place. And even if there is a good reason, why not make it so you have to do something to turn that on if you want it instead of having to turn if off if you don't - every single time you use it!

Oh, and the headphones it came with didn't fit well either.

All in all, very disappointing. I returned it.

This CD player is simply magnificent. The headphones hurt but most people don't use the headphones included with their CD player anyways. I suggest buying a Sony MDR-G52LP Headphones and Sony SRS-A27 Portable Speaker System as add-ons. The sound on this CD player is superb and the buttons are easy to find and press. The LCD screen is extremely easy to read and it's compact shape let's it fit into your pocket easily. Also the skip protection and bass rock! The car kit provided is just like any other. I've had no problems with it so far. As an added bonus there's also an AC adapter and remote control for the car included with this set. I'm sure you won't be able to find a CD player at this price with all these accesories better than this one

I was confused by the reviews of people who didn't like it. I first purchased a 'Memorex' one for the price, but I had the worst time with it...needless to say I had to exchange it 2 times,after which I finally returned it.
I went with the Sony as it was priced at about $100 (max for my budget) and came with a car kit. I love the remote for it, so you don't have to fidget with the small buttons while driving. I too had a problem with the beeping sound that it made, but fixed it no problem.
Above all this is a great product and I recommend it 100%.

This is a good starter dj unit if this is your first time buying dj equipment. It is not the best value though. ION has a dj kit that is also avalible from AMAZON.COM. It is extrememly similar and runs a "touch" more expensive (last time i checked only about $20 more) BUT it includes a pair of starter speakers. This one does not. The ion one does not say in the product description that it does include speakers but trust me, it does. The speakers ION includes are not the best ones but atleast they are something to get you started. They are sufficient enough for practicing in your room or at maybe a small club.

I have used this for only about 2 months for my business. It worked great until this last week. I'm getting a delayed start time and much skipping. I am no longer able to use it for my business because of it's inconsisitency.

I didn't receive any warranty or trouble-shooting information with the product, only basic operational instructions. So, now I'm in the process of tracking this information.

Hopefully, this can be resolved satisfactorily (and quickly)! If so, I'll certainly upgrade the rating!
