Hard to hear
It was a lot more hard to hear through this headset than regular phones. Otherwise, everything else was fine.

Greatest phone I've ever owned!
I purchased this phone in January of 1999 and it has worked really well. Phone calls are extremely clear and the headset is very lightweight. The only problem that I've had with it is a problem that is common with most headsets, the headset part wears out rather quickly and breaks. After about 2.5 years, it finally broke. I must admit, I have been rough on it a few times, but the design is still destined to break after a couple years of regular use. I am considering buying this again, but I would like a two-line phone with a few more features, so I am looking at some other phones by Plantronics.

Great!
I think this headset is great! It works very well. You can hear wonderfully and the headset doesn't fall off like most other headsets. It's very comfortable and light weight. It's great for teenagers when they do their homework while on the phone, much like myself. It's so easy to use. The only con is that you can only go a short distance with it.

poor sound quality
this headset was a waste of money, maybe it just had problems with my computer but the sound output was very low but people told me they could hear me over the mic. just fine. I usually wore a regular headset for sound or sent the sound to my speakers and just used the microphone part, after about a month I ended up breaking it so the mic is no longer attached to the headset, now in the market for a good one.

Nice unit, but falls short.
Works great for PC gaming, but PS2 use is limited. I had no problems using this unit with SOCOM, & SOCOM 2. But it does not work with Champions of Norrath. Now I'll have to buy Sony's headset afterall.

Great Headset
I use Skype to talk not only to my colleagues all over the United States and also to my parents in Japan. I like this USB headset so much that I am ordering it again. Not because it's broken, but because I want one for my home use.

What's good about this headset is that it goes into USB interface instead of speaker interface. If you have a speaker already, you'd have to unplug it and hook the headset in if the headset uses normal speaker interface. But for USB, that's not a problem. Even after using long hours, your ears won't hurt. Stereo one covers your ears too hard that my colleagues complain that their ears hurt.

So far, it never went bad or anything. The quality of the product is pretty good. Now that Skype is offering this feature that allows you to call all over the world with a minimal fee, I am getting one for my home!

    Alright.
I got these for one use...Gaming. When I got them, they were great! The sound was clear, consistant, and the microphone was amazingly CLEAR! The only gruge I have against them is that it broke about a month after I purchased them. Other than that, I'd recommend them to anyone with intrests in gaming or any kind of entertainment.

Works great, when it does work
When I needed a headset, I got this one for the Labtec name and the price. After 2 WEEKS the headphones stopped working, and now the microphone is dead. My first email to Labtec went unanswered, hopefully my latest one will be answered. Nonetheless, when the headset worked, it had great audio quality, and didn't make my ears sore.

Labtec, this microphone needs to go back to the lab
I purchased this microphone because I wanted a hands-free microphone to use with Yahoo Messenger. Since this headset is one of the cheapest on the market, I thought I would give it a try. I like that you can easily adjust the microphone closer to your mouth for better voice recognition. It also picks up your voice as good as you would want for talking with another person. However, trying to use the headphones and microphone at the same time did not work for me. The microphone worked great, but it was very difficult to hear the other person in the headphones. I tried adjusting the volume on my system (I use Windows XP), but no luck.

I think the worst complaint I have with this headset is that it isn't one that will last a good amount of time. I used this headset for about a year when the microphone died on me. I think it may have had something to do with the fact that I was wrapping the cord, but still! I also gave the same headset to my boyfriend, and the same happened to him. His microphone just stopped working.

Okay, so I did buy another one of these headsets, but in the same day the piece that holds the microphone broke when I tried to adjust it. So now I have to tape it in place to talk with it. This was enough of a sign to tell me that I will never buy another headset from Labtec!

    to big
THESE HEADPHONES WERE CHEAP. BUT THEY R GOOD. WHEN I BOUGHT THESE HEADPHONES I REALZED THEY ARE TO BIG IN SIZE. BUT THEY ARE WORTH. BUT FOR STREET STYLE I RECOMMEND BUY ANY OTHER MONITOR HEADPHONES FOR PAYING A LITTLE MORE.

    Very comfortable, and good value
    Pros:
    - In terms of sound quality, it is above-average in its class.
    - So very very comfy!

    Cons:
    - It sounds very weak on portable players. If you want headphones for you're mp3 or CD player, these are NOT a good choice.
    - Big
    - Yes, they sound good for cheap headphones. But they just don't sound as good as a pair of $100 headphones.

Another thing worth mentioning - the cord is extremely long. This may be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on what you're using it for. Normaly I love long cords, but the cord in this is just ridiculously long.

If you're in the market for computer or media system headphones, and want something you can wear all the time withought you're ears coming off, these are a great choice. If you want some better sounding headphones, and comfort isn't an issue, then I would recommend the Jensen JF25 Stereo Headphones.

Very comfortable and an excellent value
I'm not an audiophile par excellence, but I do know a thing or two about comfort. I bought the less expensive Sony MDR-V150 headphones for a song, and returned them after a couple of weeks because the darned things were very tight and uncomfortable. I would say that this MDR-CD280 is about the same in terms of quality, but leaps and bounds better in terms of comfort. I can wear these all day long and not even know they are on. And music sounds great. If you don't want to spend too much, and you want comfort, you've found the right product.

Muddled high-end for this price!? NO WAY!
Well, I embarked on finding a new set of travel headphones after my last long plane ride. The earbuds just weren't hacking it, even though the pair I have are quite good. The jet engine noise finally got to me.

I have an old pair of Sony MDR-M77 headphones which are quite good, but I wanted something new. So, I studied what was available and settled on the MDR-V500DJ headphones. After purchasing a pair, I regret my choice and I am returning them.

When I got these headphones, I immediately plugged them into my iPod and picked a favorite cut from XTC (Mayor of Simpleton). As I listened to the song, I kept wondering what was wrong, Then, it dawned on me, the treble was entirely muffled. I grabbed the MDR-M77 and did a A-B test with several tracks. Same result. The MDR-V500DJ has little or no high-end. Just as a sanity check, I grabbed my Sony MDR-V6 phones and did the same test. I consider the MDR-V6 one of the best headphones ever made by the way. Yeah, the bass was definitely richer than the MDR-M77, which seem bright in comparison, but both were much closer to what I expected than the MDR-V500DJ.

I thought it might be the iPod, so picked a coupled of CDs (MFSL Dark Side of the Moon & Bernstein in Berlin-Beethoven Symphony no.9) to try in my portable CD player. Same result. While the MDR-M77 was the brighest of the three, the lack of high end on the MDR-V500DJ made neither CD sound good. Once again, the MDR-V6 was the best and most balanced of the three.

Still seeking the perfect lightweight headphones, I went to a local Magnolia Hi-Fi to try a better comparison. I tried both noise cancelling models from Sony, several Sennheiser models, the MDR-V600, MDR-V500DJ, and MDR-V300. First of all, forget the noise cancelling models. None of them sounded as good as MDR-V500DJ. The MDR-V600 was the best of them all and reminded me of the MDR-V6 (which I understand they replaced). The MDR-V300 is definitely better than the MDR-500DJ by a long shot, and I would say the MDR-V300 is comparable to Sennheiser HD-212. I am going to try them side-by-side at home soon.

Although many of the Sennheiser phones sounded good, they seemed over-priced compared to the MDR-V600. The only one that was close in price and quality was the HD-280. By the way, the HD-280 was uncomfortable and put a lot of pressure on my head.

Unless you like listening to bass only, do not buy the MDR-V500DJ headphones.

Too quiet for their intended use
Let me begin by saying that these headphones are advertised as "for DJs/for studio use." Given this, one would expect Sony to be targeting their DJ audience with these headphones.

Which they most certainly did not!

While the audio quality of these headphones is quite impressive for the price (surpassing the similarly priced v600s, if you ask me), the fact that these are designed for DJ use bothers me because they lack in volume. Even with both headphone & master volume maxed on my mixer (pre-amp), I find myself struggling to hear what's happening on the channel B while channel A is playing over the speakers.

Kick in the extra cash and get the v700s, which outperform these in every way possible and are much better suited for live performance use. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a set of headphones for home use, these are a reasonable consideration.

    They fill the need.
Good - Loud, Crisp Sound, Fairly Comfortable, Tough Bad - Big, Heavy, Large Heads Only

I bought these as a replacment to the flimsy plastic headphones that came with my Discman. They definintely serve as a good replacement set for desk listening. They are quite bulky and "DJ" feature of the ear pieces makes them awkward to carry around in a bag. They do a great job helping me tune out the world around me. The cushy ear pads fit comfortably around my ears to seal them off from most outside noise. The bass is almost two much for my little brain - caused heavy brain vibration. The heavy duty construction is a strong selling point for these babies. You can break them with normal use and occasional drops. The do fit fairly snug on my bald head. However, even with my fairly large melon, I have to keep them on one of the smaller settings. The above metioned construction makes them heavy and they tend to slip quick. To prevent this slipping you have to have the cross piece rest directly on your head. Those of you with an afro or fluffy hair may want to consider another set of headphones.

      think hard
Mine was falling apart within a day. Also, the band is poorly shaped. I can't imagine it fitting anyone. The long cord is good but make sure you need one. Mine gets tangled because it is too long for what i need

      Nice cheap headphones.
I bought these very cheaply at a discount store, for use with my laptop, because earbuds hurt my ears after a while. These headphones are collapsible, which is a plus, but the plastic seems flimsy, which is a minus. I don't think they'd survive being sat on by accident.

The sound is surprisingly good, even on bass! I've only had these for 2 weeks, so I can't attest to longevity. I was going to give 3 stars, but added one more because of the price. For < $10, I can't ask for more.

      Excellent portable speakers
Great value. Six-foot cord was what I was looking for, so it connects to the computer sound card at the rear, but I can still dance. Folding frame makes for excellent portability. Sound: great! Excellent clarity, bass isn't disappointing. You don't lose anything with this headphone set.

      OUCH! My achin' ears!
I've had these headphones for 2 years, using them off and on, because apparently the pain they inflict upon my ears is like childbirth in that I keep forgetting how bad it is. I should have trashed them a long time ago, but I'm a tightwad. The sound is satisfactory, but I can only wear them for about an hour before my ears get SUPER sore. Since I work in an open office, I don't really have a choice but to listen to music with headphones, but at some point I just have to stop because it hurts so bad. I was on the site shopping for some new headphones, and thought I'd do (hopefully) some of you a favor by warning you about this. Good luck.

      disappointing for home use
I guess these headphones may be good for portables but I bought them for home (stereo, computer) use and am disappointed.

My main complaints are: (1) the cord is short! It's only about 4 feet, nowhere near 8 feet described here, and (2) they aren't very comfortable so far. Too tight on my big head and it makes my ears warm.

Also not mentioned is the function of the little box inline with the cord. It is a filter to let you play with 3D effects and "move the sound around inside your head". It's an interesting gimmick, but I'd rather have a longer cord.

      Koss R45 headphones
I don't find these headphones extraordinarily comfortable (the padded headband is great, but my experience is the same as that of the reviewer below--there is pressure on the ears, which makes them warm). The sound is *extremely* good for the price. The treble is good and the bass is quite strong; the midrange is a bit distant, but very natural in tone. I'd be happy to find affordable loudspeakers that sounded this good. The R45s are not efficient, so if you want headphones that blast your eardrums, look elsewhere.

Expensive in price but cheap in quality
I purchased this headset a couple months ago to use with my current cordless phones and a new one I purchased. I was excited to get one because using a headset is much nicer than holding a phone in your hand or shoulder. Intially I was fairly happy with the purchase. Eventually, people started to complain that they couldn't hear me properly on one of my phones (a Uniden 5.8ghz). So I had to use my 2.4ghz GE which had terrible signal strength (my 900mhz phone picked up alot of noise while using the headset). It became annoying, because I would want to go further with the headset so I had to make a choice between the person not hearing me or having static. I finally became too frustrated, especially since the Uniden didn't have very good signal strength either anyway and purchased a 2.4ghz Panasonic (which is an outstanding product). But the person on the other end still couldn't hear me properly with the headset on. So it must've been a problem with the headset. However, I still put up with it. Then the earpiece started coming out from the mic and it was annoying but wasn't a major problem, until.... it just broke completely. So obviously the headset is completely useless if it can't go on my ear. This is just after a few months of use. I've now decided to buy a new Panasonic headset. Others have complained of people having problems hearing on the other end while using Plantronics headsets also, so stay away from these.

Finally a great headset for all my phones!
I have tried several headsets, including a couple that received good reviews on amazon.com and elsewhere. This is the first one that fit well and had good sound. I use it on my new Sanyo 8100 as well as my GE and Vtech cordless phones at home. I'm on the phone very frequently so I never take it off.. I just switch it to whatever phone I'm using. It doesn't hurt contrary to what one reviewer said. It is completely flexible and adjustable for a custom fit. I like a headset to fit firmly around my ear; it bothers me when they just sort of hang there. I'm wearing it now and it's firmly in place yet I can't even feel it. I'm buying another one to have on hand for when this one ever wears out. That's how much I like it.

      Great product and great warranty
Plantronics is a leader in the field of headsets. Compare the workmanship on this headset to other manufacturers and you will see that the wires and parts are far better protected and more likely to last. Sound quality is excellent as well. After a while, the over the ear loop might start to become a bit uncomfortable, but that is the nature of this type of headset. Add to that a 12-month FREE REPLACEMENT WARRANTY, no matter what the reason for the breakage, and you cannot beat it!

I bought one about a year ago and the wire somehowe got pulled out of the plug. I called them up and they told me without a receipt, I could not get the free replacement. I was not too upset since I was not sure that I had actually had the headset for less than 12-months. So, I sent an OUT-OF-WARRANTY quote request to them via their website on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 15, 2003 to find out how much it would cost to repair. Imagine my surprise when I found a new one at my door on October 17th!

      Great service. Great product.

      Beware of this Item
Generally i dont write the reviews. But really for this item, i felt like writing.
Beware !!!!!!!!!. MIC Does not work. Mute does not function at all, whether it is off or on. Sound is OK if you keep it low. If you keep it high, then sound is horrible. Think twice before you buy....

      This is bad
I've never written a review on a product before, but this one is so bad I feel I should warn others. The speakers sound great, and the voume control works. That's where the fun ends. The mute button for the microphone doesn't work. Also, the line has a short in it somewhere, every time I breathe I get tons of static. Even with the microphone on "mute". I know that it didn't cost a lot of money, and this just proves you (don't) get what you (don't) pay for.

      Mic sucks.
      Headphones are awesome.
mic sucks. it is very very quiet..
I turned the volume up on my comp.. and its still quiet.

hard to get to fit right
These wouldn't even stay on without bending the spring wire. Unfortunatly, the wire is a flat spring steel, and you cannot just bend it without it distorting somewhere else. I spent over an hour trying to find the right way to bend the wire to keep them from just falling off. I got one configuration to work, but only if I did not move my head. They are very lightweight, or at least seem so, since they are usually falling off. I can not attest to the sound quality, as I never got so far as to plug them in. If you buy these, definitely buy a couple of pairs of pliers to assist in the custom fit. You will look really cool with these, no doubt, as you are cruising down the boulevard, constantly fidgeting with them, trying to keep them on your ears. $45 down the toilet.

      Nice sound but terrible fit
I am searching online for a replacement of these phones. They are uncomfortable and feel like they'll slide off my ears at any minute. I've tried for a year to use these things. What a waste of money. They just feel awful.

The best headphones I've ever owned
These are by and large the best headphones I've ever used. I'm a college student, and I have to cram my headphones into my backpack to use them after and between classes. Normal headphones usually break after a couple of weeks of this treatment, and earbuds get lost. But these phones have no rigid parts, just a bendy wire that connects the two cans, so they're extremely durable.

The connector loops behind the back of the head, which means they're great for outdoor use because they won't slip off the top of your head like normal headphones. They stay on by slipping partially behind your ears, so they're not on too tight and do tend to come loose every once in a while during very rough activities like jogging.

I find they give better sound and stay in better than ear buds, and they hurt my ears less than the headphones that clip directly onto the top of your ears.

So, for durability, comfort, and ability to stay in place, I highly reccomend these headphones. Plus, they look really cool.
