worthless
Quite good for the priceEven so, not all that fragile, design is very effective, the headband is large and adjustable, the soft cloth pads are very pleasant. Overall, these headphones are EXTREMELY comfortable, probably the most comfortable headphones I have ever tried. The longevity of the HD590 is assured since all vital components can be replaced when damaged. The OFC cable has the usual detachable mini-jack (one wire only, attaches to left transducer) always useful if you keep tripping on the cable or need an extension. The velour pads are also easy to remove (which is good since they seem to pick up dust like a vacuum cleaner). Also, keep in mind that they are very permeable to ambient noise because of the open design. If you plan to use them in noisy environments, that might be a problem.
When it comes to sound, some people think the treble is inexplicably sharp and intrusive, probably making these more adequate for jazz and classical. They are indeed very bright, but I don't find them fatiguing or excessively harsh. True, these excel in detail with classical and all acoustic, but also sound pretty decent with completely different sounds from Rage Against the Machine to Bauhaus. Very high resolution, with natural bass, not too punchy, but enough to please most listeners.
Yes it is true, the Sennheiser HD 600 are also amazing headphones, a lot darker than these, but still great. There is a catch however, at 300 ohms the 600 need lots of juice, definitely not easy to drive with maximum quality unless you have a dedicated headphone amp or a very good integrated amp. The 590 don't need a dedicated amp, at only 120 ohms nominal impedance, they are easy to drive, even from laptops, portables and other low output sources. When it comes to sound quality, there's really nothing like picking a few models and listening before choosing (to the right CDs). Your opinion might be completely different. To me, while not perfect, these are definitely in my list of favourite non-electrostatic headphones. I also own the pricier Sony MDR-CD3000 (a fairly high-end model often considered superior to such beasts as the Grado RS-1, the HD 600/650 and the AKG K1000) and comparing the two I can say that at about 33% of the 3000's price, the 590 sound very, very good. Ok, so not as good as the 3K, but still great value for money in the market of circum-aural open headphones.

A little tinny but good overall
A good Microphone.
- Telephone with comfortable, adjustable headset
- Flash, Mute, and Redial buttons
- On/Off button and volume control
- Tone/pulse switch
- 12-button keypad for dialing
List price: $75.99 (that's NaN% off!)

It works...It has a volume adjuster, but it must always be set to 9 (the highest setting) and even then it is difficult to hear callers unless I'm in a quiet room.
There's a redial button, but no memory or phone book features, so each call must be dialed manually. This device also includes a flash button for using call waiting or other phone company features that require a quick tap on the 'hook'. A mute button rounds out all the features of this item.
The headset is funtional, but it squeaks a lot if you move around any. The microphone, on a short (~4 inch) boom, works well.
This item has the bare minimum of features, lacking many that even the cheapes phones sets offer.
Next time, I'll look for phone number memory, call display, etc. before purchasing a handsfree phone.

Electronics wiz
Uncomplicated eleganceThe headphones fit snugly, and the static is surprisingly low for a radio that (is so inexpensive)! It is extremely easy to switch between the modes, and you dont need to be ambidextrous like me to do that. Use either hand, its a snap!
Also makes a nice surprise gift for that person "who has everything". Nothing can kill the radio star!

Cool, but poor construction
great headphones for the pricenow on to comfort cuz thats an important thing with headphones. everything is nicely padded on these babies. the headphones fit nicely over your ears with enough space so that ur poor earlobes and such aren't crushed. even the band gets kudos from me cuz of their comfort. the soft padding won't make a dent in ur head like some other headphones i've tried when u wear them for long periods of time. the headphones have purposely been "bent" meaning that the band and the earparts are not in a 90 degree fashion. when you put the headphones, you should adjust them so that they sit straight on ur ears first, and then u will realize that the band sits more forward on ur head than most other headphones. this is smart cuz they're more comfortable that way and they don't easily slip off.
hey you kno, they're are a lot of reviews out there for these headphones. go read up on them. it really is a great buy. and from what i can figure out, they stopped manufacturing them (i think) so the already really low prices have dropped to around [$$] incredible price for an incredible product.
oh yeah. before i forget, they take 2 AAA batteries for a 30 hr usage... not bad... just remember to turn em off when ur done
I have been dying to find some decent earphones, preferably self-retracting because the cords get so unwielding, but the Jensen does not appear to be much better. The in-line volume control is a nice addition. Overall, I would say, keep looking.
