Pretty goodI wouldn't recommend it for production A/V use, but for online gaming, online talk features in IM software, as well as just a regular set of headphones, it's a good product.

UNCOMFORTABLEI purchased the stereophones because of their low price and usefulness of noise cancel technology for use with cross-talk on an operations floor in an office environment.
The noise cancel seems to work well for the price. The bass response is absolutely the best I've heard for a pair of headphones under $100. Clarity is excellent.
If you can get over the EXTREME discomfort. The plastic bracket around the back provides pressure against my outer ear cartilage. Of the test subjects from the pool of 100 employees, have confirmed this issue.
Most of what I found is that the bass response is so impressive; it's worth putting up with the irritation. However, after long periods of time this pain can irritate.
The stereophones themselves are excellent, but the bracket that holds them to your head is very poor design. Also, does not make a complete airtight seal around your ear, which can also provide some outside noise interference.
I called KOSS and spoke with JESSICA from marketing 5-14-2004, 12:00 EST. Her response is that this design was not a mistake. She had no excuse and assured me this is the way it is. I could not get very many words from her in regards to answers. I was told these are a "STREET LEVEL" series product - and that the way it is. She did explain a new product from koss is currently in production to be released to the open market within the month.
I would like to see the same set of stereophones released with a different bracket that is away from my ears.
There is a weird sensation of what I can only explain as being underwater, or being inside of a custom-fitted car with super-loud bass amplified subwoofers w/ the windows up. The pressure of the sound created from the bass of the stereophones in my ears causes some type of unusual feeling inside the cavity of my ears. You may need to be aware of this sensation, especially if you intend your children to use the KOSS QZ50 STEREOPHONES.
I will be conducting a series of tests with a professional otologist, in an attempt to resolve my concern for health issues in the internal ear. I would not want to have someone close to me suffer from painful side-effects from long-term use of a product which has engineering issues.
Uncomfortable and not much in the way of Noise Cancellation

Sounds good to me, but not to the other personIt is a very comfortable headset and I can wear this all day! Snug yet you can quickly forget its there. It will never pop out either.
The sound quality to me was low, but acceptable. I have an LG phone, so I agree with the other reviewer that this might be an issue for folks with lesser amplified phones. But for me, it was fine.
The problem I had was that the people on the other end kept complaining that my phone was cutting out, I was difficult to understand, etc. I suspect the noise cancelation circuitry is responsible for that. When people would complain, I would unhook the headset and things would improve. The issue was definitely the headset.
I returned it and I'm looking for something else now. I recommend you avoid this way and be wary of other units with noise cancelation circuitry. Which whatever you buy, test it on yourself by leaving yourself a voice message using the headset and you will see how clear - or unclear - you really sound.
this headset has all the qualities i look for in a girl...(enough of my odd humor for now...)
So I bought this headset along with my sanyo pm8200, which is a nice phone by the way. Anyway, I absolutely love the headset. I can hear the people I talk to perfectly, and they can hear me fine. The only time there was a little trouble was when there was a little wind. The noise-cancelling capabilities were not operating to their fullest apparently, because I could not be heard crystal-clearly through the gusts of wind.
So quality of input/output is great, but what about the big C- comfort. Actually, it's a very ergonomically-correct headset. It doesn't have the horrible feel of a pair of regular headphones (with the earpiece engulfing your ear), while it also doesn't have the headache-inducing pain of an earbud (the kind that sticks right into your ear). It's something completely new. In case you're unfamiliar with the design, it looks like an earbud with a little flexible hook attached to the bottom. This hook wraps comfortably around the bottom of your earlobe, and the earbud sticks in your ear (yet somehow doesn't stick in it all..it just rests there). Here is where the headset design is both ingenious and annoying. Maybe it is because I have big ears, I'm not sure...but whenever I put this thing on, it stays on my ear fine, but the earbud never stays INSIDE my ear, or at least it doesn't feel like it does. It's distracting for me, because I constantly feel like the thing is going to fall out of my ear. But I also wouldn't like it if it was jammed too far into my ear...
Perhaps I am being too picky, or maybe I'm just wearing the thing incorrectly. In all fairness, this headset deserves a 5 because of its ingenious ergonomical design, great quality of input/output, and good looks (compared to some others I've seen people touting on their heads).
Great headset, looks really cool and works well

not pleased
Ok Sound quality, poor life
Good for voice/net telephony, bad for serious stuff
- Open-air, dynamic headphones which fit comfortably in the ear
- Water-resistant sports design for active, weather-inclement use
- Nickel-plated mini-plug is L-shaped
- Neodymium magnets for max power and light weight
- 3.3 foot cord (1 meter) for ease of movement

Durable, Decent SoundHowever the sound is very weak, and does not sound good with my ipod... Sounds good with my high power PC audio but not with
portable devices.. But its ultra durable and good looking
There's better for the money

Piece of junk; Sony's quality is fading quickly!!First of all, the plastic that contacts your ears is hard and funky, which is painful after 10 minutes or so. Second, the battery life is HORRIBLE!! I get 1 3-hour baseball game's worth at best. I get a message in the display stating that the battery life is gone, then I can remove and replace the batteries and get more life. Good or bad? This sucks, because the excessive handling and ineffective display are a joke!!
I own many other Sony products and I feel that they are living off of their past branding successes. It is apparent to me that they are no longer "top of the line" and are cutting too many corners on the quality. Color me gone!!
A big disappointment
Great product.
- Uses VOX (voice activation) to transmit as you speak
- Makes radio use completely hands-free

Earbud Confusion
Vox verses Ear Pain
Confusion !!!There are several model numbers shown on the Amazon (and other) web sites, with the differences apparently being: (1) the radio model numbers with which they can be used (probably related to items 2 & 3 which follow); (2) the connectors attached, 2 pin or 1 pin; and (3)their VOX capability. Reference to the Motorola web site for 2 way radios does not clear it up.
The Model numbers I've found for the earbud/mic units are:
#53727 single pin connector and apparently no VOX capability.
#50229 double pin connector and apparently no VOX capability.
#50256 double pin connector with VOX capability.
Anyone who has definitive applicability/use information could be a hero.
By the way, the same confusion would appear to apply to the headset/boom mic units (model numbers #50226 with 2 pin connector and VOX and model #53725 single pin connector and VOX). Same for the speaker/mic units: model #50225 (shown on Amazon site as only for 250 Series radio), and model #53724 apparently for all other radios. It's not clear to me if either of these has VOX capability.
If you understand these mysteries please post a review with the answers. Failing that I suspose I need to use the phone to call Motorola and enter the labyrinth of their automated phone system.
