The IPod for those on a tight budgetI purchased this little guy about 3 weeks ago - I got it for $ after rebate, + $ for a 128MB Smartmedia card. For the total price, this can't be beat.
It's basic - no song title information, setting up playlists, etc. But it holds about 40 songs, has really good sound (4 preset settings - stick to Rock or Jazz), and best of all is the size of a beeper and weighs 2 ounces. I live in NYC and travel the subway every day - this player is so small that I can put it anywhere (shirt pocket, around my neck, etc.) and not feel it. Great for joggers, etc.
This thing is LOUD, and gets about 12-15 hours on 1 AA battery. The software is very simple - just drag and drop MP3's onto the player using UBS cable - downloads are pretty fast. It has basic features (FF/Rewind/Pause) and has a hold button so it won't get turned on by itself.
Downsides? Won't play VBR files. No belt clip (although it comes with a cute felt sack that I use for my electric razor). That's about it. For value you can't beat this player.

- Built-in, transparent screen protector - a very thin, clear layer of silicone that protects the LCD screen from scratching
- Play-through design allows access to iPod mini's jog wheel and an opening at the bottom for the iPod mini dock connector

Foxda MP3 player

My thoughts on Bantam 800
- 4-in-1 MP3 Player/Voice Recorder/FM Radio
- Compact and Lightweight design
- USB1.1 interface
- Stores 128Mb worth of data or MP3 music
- USB data cable and FM Tuner earphones included

Great Product at a Great PriceAccording to other sources, the unit can hold 180 minutes of music or 512 minutes of digital recordings. I have not tested this.
There are some things to note.
1) The unit is too bulky to plug directly into a USB port that is tightly packed with other accessories and cables.
2) The LCD display is a bit small. I have trouble reading the small text and resorted to memorizing menus from the manual. (an extreme case as I am nearly blind)
3) The unit's FM tuner is a feature of the included earbuds. They work great but are not for those who have trouble with this type of headset.
The box includes:
The MP3/Recorder/USBDrive
1x AAA Battery (supposed to last 12 hours)
1x (watch-type battery for headset)
1x FM Tuner headset
1x USB Cable
Software
The unit is light and has met all expectations. AND it seems significantly cheaper than other comperable products.

- Intel 400MHz processor
- 64MB SDRAM/32MB Flash
- SD, SDIO, MMC support
- Windows Mobile operating system
- What's in the box: iPAQ Pocket PC, USB Desktop cradle/charger, AC Adapter, Holster with belt clip, Battery, Getting started poster, Charger adapter, hp iPAQ Pocket PC Companion CD
