MP3 buggy
I just bought one of these. It could just be the one I bought, but... it works fine except for the following egregious problem: When it reads an MP3 file (and I tried several times on different CDs), it gets "confused" and treats each file as several different little tracks, making a delay between each one. At first I thought it was skipping, or buffer overrun, but nope, it's that weird thing. I will have to return it.

Good but disappointed
Pros
Has played everything so far without skips
Price

Cons
NO FREAKING REMOTE!!!
No "scan" capability when listening to MP3's
Big pause between songs when listening to MP3's

Overall it's a pretty good unit for the price but it's missing some things that should be standard (like scanning). And I chose this model over others because it was supposed to have a remote.

SLIM, TRIM, AND FIT MP3/CD PLAYER
I chose the Panasonic SL-MP36C for its inovative stylish good looks, it's amazing size, and it's versatility.

The most amazing thing for me was this players size. In comparison to most portable CD/MP3 players in the market right now, this has got to be the smallest. I have compared it to most players out there, and not even SONY has come up with a smaller size MP3/CD player. To me it seems since this MP3/CD player thing is still new, most companies out there are starting us off with bulky equipment so that later you will be tempted to buy their newer slicker upcoming models. I think in that respect, Panasonic jumped the gun and gave the consumer what they really wanted.

I purchased the unit mostly so that I could play my MP3/CD's in my car without having the need for a CD/CHANGER. The unit works beautifully and does not skip(45-sec for CD-DA and 100-sec for MP3 playback). The unit also offers up to 40 hours MP3 playback on two "AA" Alkaline Batteries and up to 30 hours for your regular music CD's making it the longest I have found. The unit has a stylish finish and is not thick or oversized/bulky like some others I have compared it too.

Overall, it has been a great little MP3/CD player and with care should give you lasting hours of good music. The unit has Good quality sound and like most portable CD players, the headphones are not the best and should be replaced for some quality ones. I also found out that not all these units include the remote like you see in the picture, mine did not come with the remote (I don't know why) which would have been very helpful. I think maybe I should write Panasonic about it. So, if you want a slim, trim, and fit MP3/CD player I suggest you look at the Panasonic SL-MP36C.

check the steinberg site before you buy this one
The first problem I experienced with this software was it could not see my cd drive. I went to the Steinberg site (the company who supports this software) and found that there are quite a few problems with this software. I also searched their site for technical support and could not find any. Maybe it is there, but it was hard to find. I wanted to return the software but I bought it here (Amazon)....

    Fabulous Editing Software
Wow! I guess I am lucky - no problem installing or using. I use Windows XP and have had to reinstall after a crash with no prob. I use this software to edit songs for my (personal hobby) internet radio station - it is excellent for that! I have also used the software to ID3 tag MP3's that didn't show up correctly on CDDB, and I love the crossfade function for my mixes. I am not an expert on anything technical, and this software has been pretty user friendly for me. I plan to upgrade to version 5 when it comes out.

    Update to the Above
I finally got some help. Not from Steinberg but from Pinnacle systems. We had to edit a couple of registry entries before the software would work. Now I have to say I am pleased with the product. I was using MusicMatch and I've left it alone to use myMP3 Pro.

No good for exercising, Fine for sitting.
I bought this to play MP3s while walking / exercising. It is unusable for that purpose. It skips very often (like every minute) when in motion and when it starts to skip I have to stand still for a few seconds for it continue. Perhaps my unit is defective. It was cheap and is usable for sitting in one place so I won't bother returning it but I do have to buy a new portable MP3 player to walk around with. I'll probably find an ac adapter for this and leave it at work. For the price if it gets stolen it's no big deal.

I think the controls (buttons) are very well designed and the price was the lowest I found.

    Rio Volt SP60
After ordering a Rio Volt SP60 MP3/CD player, I found it could not play MP3 CD's. I was sent another unit and it too would not play MP3. The MP3 CD was burned on a PC and plays on other MP3 compatible players (i.e SP50).

I believe since the software in the SP60 is Version 1.0, it's possible there are still some format issues yet to solve. The RioVolt company could not assist in any way, so the unit was returned.

    perfect, and no nonsense
i bought my sp60 on clearence...which i guess is the norm as it seems to be Rio's older model. But that was what made it such a great buy. A $30 or under it plays all CD's and as many MP3 or WMA files you can fit on a disc. It plays flawlessly and sounds really great. Only sometimes when playing back MP3's it will skip if even slightly bumpbed or moved...this is however rare but kinda bugs you when it does do it. Overall this is a great player to buy, and even better if you own Rewritable CD's because you can make discs and erase them to make new ones. They usaually hold about 300 MP3's and i drove non-stop to chicago 5 hours and never got even halfway through the whole disc.
A great player that isn't rocket science to figure out how to work, you won't be disapointed

    Bad joke?
This gotta be a joke. Other 64MB MP3 players with expansion, from Now Evolution, etc., cost as little as 1/5 as much, and has much better sound. I truly think this player is a cruel joke for people who know nothing about technology.

    -
I Purchased this product july 10th because like most people who purchase these items i was tired of spending money on cds and CDRW's so i decided i'd give this mp3 player a shot. It was shipped extremely fast within 24 hours w/standard shipping and arrived nicely packaged. The software itself was quite easy to use and the mp3 player itself is very small, sturdy, and sleek. When i first started downloading/uploading songs onto it (while using Kazaa) it worked just fine. But after a few days it rendered my USB (universal serial bus port) disabled and wouldnt let me use it well now it's july 27 and after 60+ hours of work and over 11 people's help and assistance it still says my USB is disabled and no longer there. Which also means i cant use my printer which shares a USB port itself. so now i'm forced to either buy a new computer, or a new media card with a USB on it. Maybe it's just my computer that's the prob. but i've had numerous comp. technicians say they've never seen ne thing like this before that could be blammed on a comp. But for the time it worked it was a great sounding, playing, and very versitile MP3 player. So i give this item 4 stars rating it on the time it worked. My only complaint about the product (besides killing my usb ports) is the controls on the headphones have a special adapter that isnt common in most places so like the other person who reviewed you cant buy new headphones if you want the controls that come w/the headphones in the package.

    quite good
This player plays wma sound files quite well. The sound is great. The player itself is more sturdy than most small mp3 players, but it would have been even better if the player had a metal exterior. The software for the PC that comes with the player is very simple to use. There are 2 issues though: the remote controls are part of the headphones that come with the player so you can only use the remote control if you like the earphones that come with the product. And it is not clear if you can use 128MB size memory cards in the device. Zenith's website is unclear. You can definately use 64MB cards and 32MB cards.

    Jokebox Recorder
This is a piece of junk. I got it to record my band sessions. I leave it charging all week, and actually plug it in during our sessions, and it only works half the time. Right now I have it plugged in, and I can't get it to turn on. It might just be my unit, but this thing is pretty worthless. I looked on the Archos site, and I don't think there's much I can do about it.

Even if it is just my defective unit, the interface is pretty clunky. I can't imagine trying to navigate 15 G's and find a specific song. You'd be there all day. However, if it just worked it would be perfect for what I want to do.

    Hours and Hours of Music
This is a great MP3 Player. I've loaded it up with hours of music plus hours and hours of old Bob and Ray recordings. The best feature is the recorder. I can plug the Archos into my stereo thru the tape monitor and record my old LPs and tapes without having to hook everything up to the computer.

I wouldn't suggest this for anybody.
When my joybee came I was very excited and thought it looked very slick and neat. Well the thing stopped working the same day I got it. The usb wire never worked in the first place and the player itself broke a bit later. This is from carrying it in my pocket for 4 hours btw, not even playing it. Not running, not jogging, walking in a store with loose fitting jeans. I'm hoping for everybody else I just got a dud but I'm not taking any chances.

While it did work it was decent, not the best but decent.

I'm now in the process of trying to get my money back. I don't even want another product by this company. I just want my money back so I can buy a player that won't break.

Compact and stylish mp3 player with good sound quality
I like this player a lot.

Size - This MP3 player is very compact and lightweight.

Look - The brush aluminum look makes it very modern and stylish.

Built-in USB Plug - This is a saver if you plan to use it as USB flash drive. It will save you to bring along or buy an extra USB cable. And since it is retractable, it doesn't make the player any larger when it is not needed.

Rechargeable battery - This is one of best feature that I like the most. I don't need to worry about buying batteries. Addition to the AC adapter, it also allows me to recharge the battery by plugging it in to the computer's USB port.

Earphone - The material of earphone that came with this player is only so so. It has a very plastic feeling. But the sound quality that it puts out is not too bad.

Radio - The receiver is not very strong. I constantly getting weak signal and have to point the device to different position to get a better signal. But it is still better than the other players.

MP3 - It plays MP3 and WMA. The sound quality is very good. It is definitely above average. It also puts out nice bass.

    DO NOT PURCHASE THE iAUDIO!!!
Don't be fooled by the bells & whistles, the iAudio is the worst MP3 on the market!!! I purchased the CW200 and after 3 months it became defective. Apparently they all have a manufacturing defect of a loose memory board and battery flap. Once the memory board falls out over the normal course of use, the device becomes inoperable and must be shipped back for repair. After returning the device once, it stalled again just 30 days later. The second time the repair dept hassled me for shipping costs and wanted another copy of the warranty info they had on file. Don't waste your time w/ this. The iPod, which I will be getting, is much better holding >1000 songs much better than the measley 70 songs the terrible CW200 holds.

    Frickin Amazing!
I've had this player for about six months, and it is the best piece of electronics I've ever had. it's never had a single problem. I recommend this product to everyone I know.

    just my luck
apparently doesn't work with windows xp program, my usb port is not detected when i plug the mp3 player into it..

    Works fine.
I've had this item for over a year and it works fine. Simple, easy to use and understand interface. No frills( that's a plus) Only complaint is the first one I had had intermittent problems reading the smartmedia card. At first I thought the problem was the card (it wasn't). I exchanged the unit it's worked fine ever since.

Works, but I'm going to replace it with a non-Kenwood
I have been using the KDC-MP8017 for several months. It installed flawlessly, and except for a smudged CDR it has played all the CDRs I've given it. There are two major problems that have me shopping for a new player now. 1) The fast-forward and rewind for MP3s is useless. Near as I can tell, holding the REW button down for ten seconds rewinds only five seconds. There is no time indicator when you FF or REW an MP3. I use FF and REW when listening to language CDs. 2) The folder navigation appears broken, or buggy at best. I organized a CDR by genre using different folders and the folder navigation sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Sometimes the player appears to lock up (a minutes passes and nothing happens), and I have to eject the CD and start over. I've read the manual a couple times, but I cannot consistenly get folder navigation to work. Perhaps it's cockpit error, but I think I'm pretty technically savvy (installed the receiver myself, burned the CDRs myself, fix other peoples' computer problems... you get the idea), and this has been sadly frustrating.

So, the bottom line is I want to replace it, and I'm avoiding Kenwood. I'm thinking the Blaupunkt MP3000 looks attractive....

    Not perfect, but close
I bought this unit on an impulse and did the research afterwards. Fortunately, I think I made a pretty good choice. Once you've had an MP3 deck in your car, you'll never go back to an ordinary CD player. You can put at least 10 albums on one disk. The sound quality is indistinguishable from the original, at least to my ears. Here are my small complaints:

The display is poorly designed. The unit can only display one thing at a time. So if the clock is display, no song titles or radio station information. That makes the clock pretty useless. If the song title is display, no track or elapsed time info.

The unit can only do random selection within a folder.

You have to flip down the faceplate to change CD's. Kind of a nuisance.

    Crooked!
My scans come out crooked. If I align it at the top the whole thing has to be rotated. If I align it with a side, then it's off center. This is very frustrating and I will return it. The scans came out decent but very dark. I had to lighten them tremendously.

    decent
Overall a decent scanner. You'll have to do adjustments to your scans with any scanner. The transparency adapter is pretty good, too. I've had some problems scanning negatives. You have to check with microtek to see where it is available. There were some problems installing the scanner with XP, but i got it to work. They might have even of improved the drivers since then.
