Be Careful!

A 2-piece speaker system never sounded so good! These Yamaha speakers are excellent! They have the perfect amount of bass and treble with separate controls for each. There are not many two-piece systems in this price range that have two separate controls for bass and treble. The 3D surround sound is incredible. It also comes with my favorite part of any speaker system, a headphone jack for private listening which really brings out the gaming experience.
My computer games sound incredible and my jazz CDs now project the perfect tone and balance with no bass distortion. The bass perfectly supports the highs making a very realistic balance.
For this price range and from a company that has many years of experience with audio, I really can't see getting a better two piece system with this much output and control over a wonderful and true sound.

Incredible sound from a small package
Everyone will envy these babies! For playing games, especially the ones which use EAX...this system is the best! You can hear every single detail and its just mind blowing.Mp3's sound awesome and wanna make you listen to them again and again. These speakers can be hooked up to the PS2 which is also a great feature.People complain about the wired remote but its not that bad.You almost never need to move the remote and it also has a big extension wire in case you would ever need to take the remote around your room.
This system is reasonably priced (if you can find the right deal).People would often come to me and ask "Woah ,you must have spent a fortune on those things!" and I most gladly reply "Nope".Being a freshman right now,I am positive that i will not need to buy any other speakers before i graduate.I can't think of any reason not to buy this system except the big sub (which is kind of big for my cramped dorm room) but hey that's what gives the thump thump, BOOM BOOM!! I would higly recommend buying these SWEET speakers!
ROCKS MY SOCKSAs far as speaker performance in computer speakers go, these are the best sounding speakers that I have EVER heard. I sampled about 10 different kinds, including klipsh, promedia, and the monsoon systems. Some of them had pretty rich bass and could pump out a lot of volume, but none had the clarity or the sonic tonalities that the 621's can produce. For an msrp price of 150 dollars, you are getting 2 bookshelf speakers which in my opinion, could almost pass as audiophile speakers. The subwoofer is extremely powerful for a computer system, it can fill an entire room.. and a large one at that. It is also accurate.
A major problem with many computer speakers these days is distortion and cheap plastic contruction. You won't find this with the 621's, the have metal stands and the subwoofer is a nice wooden cabinet. I love to play my music LOUD, raning from jazz, to rap, and plenty of rock and roll. Even on the "gangsta rap" tracks (in which the bass usually pops and distorts on other speakers systems) had loud, punching, and undistorted bass. Now certainly it's nothing like the 2 12" subs I have in a bandpass box in my car, but for a home system, this sub gets almost as loud as the MTX 10" home subwoofer, as well as the JBL PB10. It's a beautiful thing when you can get that kind of bass, and two beautiful sattelites, for well under 200 dollars!
Now as far as the music i've played on these, MP3's sound quite good, and CD's sound quite a bit better. The CD's i've played so far range from reggae to country.. and the tweeters greatly reproduce the sweet sound of a country violin, and the subwoofer busts out the beats in the reggae music. You can optimize these speakers using an EQ on your computer sound card, or using a program like winamp.
What really, really impressed me was the DVD playback. My eric clapton live DVD sounded absolutley stunning, every single note the bass player hit was reproduced accuratley, and eric's acoustic guitar was crip his electric was growling.. just like it should be. Movie playback should be a treat as well! BUY THE ALTEC LANSING 621's, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT GETTING ANOTHER SPEAKER! email me with questions..

Good Speakers
JBL Creatures are In a League of Their OwnI only bought these speakers from amazon.com for their amazing price, but I would never purchase speakers without hearing them first. After about a month of looking I was able to narrow my speaker choice down to two speaker systems, "BOSE MediaMate" two-piece system (for $99) and the "Klipsch ProMedia 2.1" system (for $169), the JBL Creatures weren't one of my choices because I was ignorant and thought they were too ugly considering I am not an apple owner.
The Klipsch system blew me away with it's powerful bass and clear satellites. I was immediately blown away again when I heard the clarity of the Bose speakers, which made a mockery of the Klipsch satellites. This is great right?, except for the fact that the Bose system does not include a seperate sub which meant that the bass, although clear, was not very strong.
If only I could find a speaker system that combined the bass of the Klipsch and the clarity of the Bose system for a reasonable price...
In case you didn't get the idea, the JBL Creatures were the solution to my problem. As I was walking down the aisle of my local...store I heard the JBL creatures playing the new James Bond movie. Wow. Ever since then I knew that the JBL's were the best choice for my college dorm, and that was for $130 dollars in the stores. Considering Amazon.com has them for less..., you would have to be stupid or deaf to not pick up a pair of these amazing speakers.
This price is a STEAL for these speakers!!Watching DVD's with these babies are just like being in the theater! GREAT BASS! I love the lights under the two satalites, nice touch!
Playing CD's, mp3's, AAC's, and games with these are a pleasure! I especially love turning up the volume (with the touch sensitive buttons on the left satalite) when I'm playing games on my computer (such as Starcraft!) and enjoying being emmersed into the game! The sound is very crisp and clear, no muffled sound.
These speakers are worth every little penny I paid for them! My speakers arrived the next day, and I was so excited to get them out of the box and try them!
I also use these with my ipod...AWESOME!

Excellent system for the priceThere are a few compliants I do have with this system. The constant hissing is a nuisance (though it's almost inaudible over computer noise and usually unheard when anything's playing), but I've heard that if you bug Logitech hard enough they'll send you an upgraded control unit that solves the problem. The other problem is that sounds are a bit muddled unless you remove the satellite covers (I got this idea from one of the numerous z680 reviews). With certain instrumental pieces, it sounds almost like a completely different system. (I keep my on because I'm afraid I'd do something stupid and break it.)
But on the bright side look what you do get: Coax and Optical digital connections and the standard 3 port analog connection,DTS and Dolgy Digital Decoding, and Dolby Prologic II encoding in music and movie modes and of course THX certification (though I consider that more marketing than anything else).
Sound quality is of course top notch compared to most other computer systems, comparable to that offered by the high-end Megaworks and Klipsch sets though I do have a few nitpicks. Removing the cover helps sound brightness though the highs still seem to roll off when approaching the upper limit (maybe it's just a placebo effect). The bass is awesome, but sometimes I find it too awesome; it completely drowns out the satellites. The Klipsch isn't without faults either; I'm not a big fan of its sub or its performance at high valume. The Megaworks have excellent satellite performance, and the bass is tighter, but somewhat lacking in games and movies (and I use that term loosely; none of these systems have lacking bass compared to your mid-to-low range computer speakers). Granted no computer speakers are going to equal high-end home audio setups, but these 3 sets come the closest, though each has its own quirks. The price and features provided by the Z680s swung my opinion.
This baby ROCKS! ! ! !-some people complain about a hissing sound. There is in fact a hiss comming out of the satellites, but IT'S NOT A PROBLEM FROM THE SPEAKERS, it's a problem with the source. Check your source and the connection which you are using. I plugged these babies to my laptop (lousy sound card) and the hiss was quite annoying esp. at high volumes, but then I plugged them to my DVD player and the hissing dissappeared completely. I tried a PS2 and no hiss either, so I came to the conclusion that the speakers themselves DON'T PRODUCE ANY HISS.
-These speakers are LOUD. But when I mean loud, I mean LLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUDDDDDDDDDD. If you are looking for a speaker system for a small room or just for ambient hearing, you might want to look at Altec Lansing speakers, which sound just as good but no even remotly as loud. The bass sounds OK even at 100% volume and 100% bass (don't try this for a long time or you will pop the speaker). But you don't need to get above 30% bass in order to feel the windows shaking.
-The bass doesn't sound equally loud at frecuencies (try the CB song I recommended above) but honestly, I've heard and tested at least a couple docen commercial home speakers and they all have had this flaw. Only professional or semi-professional speakers (Bose for example) eliminate this volume change. Don't let this be a put-down when thinking of buying this system.
-The only CON if found is the weight. When my girlfriend them to me, the box was so huge and so heavy I needed help loading it in my car. This is because the bass is HEAVY. But when you hear ir roar, you'll see why. =)
If you want a home theather and don't want to go as far 4 digit prices, this is the choice to make. Hook up to 4 devices at a time and change the input with a single click from the remote (you can do EVERYTHING with the remote). Loud, crystal clear sound; deep, loud bass; no distortion at any volume level...what more can a humble man ask? The price is excellent for what you'll get.
Finally, forgive my lousy english (me don't speak english regularly)
the best for the money
