Good Speakers for the price
I have owned these speakers for almost a year and have been very pleased with them. I use them for gaming, playing audio CD's on my PC, and hook them to my TV for better sound. They provide great sound and sufficient power. The Bass is truely exceptional (PC Gamer loved the sub-woofer). I love these speakers, but I might now opt for the Creative-Cambridge PCWorks FourPointSurround , though I haven't tried them.

These speakers are top of the line for their catagory
For a two satellite, one woofer system, this 70-Watt system blows competitors away. It has a Dolby Virtual Surround setting that I found skeptical at first, but it surpassed my expectations. Coming from a two-satellite 5 watts per channel computer speaker with a 20W woofer (which I thought were the best), these 15Ws really do the job well. The room is filled with rich sound and a smooth sounding 40W sub-woofer-- Definitely worth the cash. No need to ponder. These have been the top on reviews on all my searches before I set out to buy them.

I auditioned many multimedia speakers and these are the best
I've seen these same speakers at major retailers and superstores for $50 more. The sound quality and the full range and depth of the bass from the sub woofer fills my room. Now I'm wondering how much better they would sound if I had a better sound card. Buy these you won't be sorry.

Good Value, Really Nice Looking
I purchased these speakers to replace my Altec-Lansing ADA-880 speakers that were fried by a lightning strike/power surge. I chose these speakers because they do not look stupid, like so many of the new speakers being sold. These are very nice looking speakers. They are not some goofy space-man looking piece of crap. They will work great with your computer, or any other audio device with an 1/8th inch stereo plug. They produce respectable sound, and a fair amount of bass. If you like TONS of bass, that you can feel thumping in your chest, (like the exceptional ADA-880 speakers that are no longer available,) you will be a little disappointed. I would have rated them a 5 if they produced more bass.

Top of the Line Speakers for CHEAP!!!
i was plesantly suprised with these speakers. they are really worth it because they have top of the line sound that you would expect for $200 speakers, but theyre durt cheap!! if you are thinking about buying new computer speakers, buy these!

Great system for the price!
At this writing, it'll be darn hard to find a better 3-piece system than this!

So that you know where I'm coming from, I label myself a "low-budget semi-audiophile," meaning I squeeze as much value as I can while building my stereo component by component. Translated, I hate all-in-one mini stereos and especially loathe tinny speakers. I demand clarity, warmth, and good, tight bass response. I'm also an amateur musician for the last 15 years, and I was looking for a system that would do reasonably well while I build a somewhat low-to-mid budget computer recording setup.

These Yamahas deliver almost exactly that for this price point, with some qualifications as noted below. They have done exceedingly well in reviews here and elsewhere on the net, even after you weed out the chaff, which was a major reason for me to at least try these speakers.

These speakers will not replace your component stereo (certainly not my Klipsch bookshelf speakers and Polk sub), but at less than 100 USD, that's to be expected. The sub is plenty tight and as loud as you need it for various music--some earlier reviewers, it appears, need to learn that subs are more to be felt than heard. Given the price, I find the crossover to be just fine. Mids are also quite strong. The speakers are generally *very* warm (and I typically dislike most component loudspeakers as too cold and sterile!) with something of a "surround"-type presence.

The qualifications force me to disagree with some reviewers, if somewhat subjectively. The treble is reasonably good, but not great, certainly not brilliant or sparkling as previous reviews and advertising may suggest. There is no treble knob, as there darn well should be (my old Altecs had a treble knob...). As a treble fix, I've downloaded the newest versions of Winamp (2.78) and Sonique (1.95) to use and compare their EQs (less than 10 minutes download on either on a 56K modem). That solves some of my yearning for treble, but to a point, as each EQ appears to affect MP3s far better than direct CD-player audio, where Sonique appears to have a slight, marginal edge (and a 20-band EQ instead of 10 on Winamp). I should underline that I am a perpetual EQ tweaker, and really, the treble with the added EQ is quite good. Still, I've kept my old Altecs chained up to the second (additional) input on the Yamaha's right speaker to add a bit more treble for direct CD-audio.

One other minor qualification is that the power cord is built directly into the back of the sub. This may be typical of the competition, but it's annoying to pack back into the box if you have to move it, and will be subject to stress with much greater difficulties in replacing it, compared to a cord with an adapter that you could remove. The plus is that the plug on the other end is a normal-sized three-prong, not a wall-wart (i.e., big fat AC adapter).

Overall, the sound is excellent at this price point, and I'm very happy with my decision to buy this three piece system. Sure, you can spend $$$ and get something better, but I very much doubt you'll beat the bang for the buck this Yamaha 3-piece provides.

Nice Speaker
Good sounds. Buy Two. Be Happy.

Great Speaker
This was my upgrade over an Accoustic brand. The JBL was more balance between bass and treble. So, I did notice the treble tinging and more clarity in the sound, less cracking. The Accoustic provided more bass and was starting to crack. With more bass it had a more surreal ambient feeling. It was humming beautifully. The clearer JBL lack that touch of feeling, which I still had not gotten over with. But I did get a new reciever with my JBL so the comparision would not be just on the speckers alone. Overall I am Happy with it.

Very good speakers for the cost
I got a a couple of these speakers with an Onkyo TX-8211 receiver and they have been performing beautifully. The sound was obviously a huge upgrade from the cheapo $100 boombox I had before but more surprisingly was a significant upgrade from my Grado SR60 headphones which I used to use for serious listening earlier (even with the same receiver). Considering I paid only $175 including shipping for each speaker, that is very good value for money and these outperform other speakers twice their price. Of course, they are not as good as the Veritas speakers but then again they are one tenth or so their price.

Another thing to note is that the black ash finishing is actually very well done and this speaker should fit in well even in well-decorated houses (considering I am in a bachelor pad, it is easily the most beautiful piece of furniture in my living room :)

    GREAT SOUND
I AM VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE OVERALL QUALITY AND SOUND!AND I'M A MAGNAPAN GUY! HIGHS AND MIDS ARE VERY WELL BALLANCED AND SMOOTH.VERY TIGHT BASS.I THINK THE PRICE HERE MAY BE ON THE HIGH SIDE...

    Great speakers but.....
while they do have excellent response in the hi and midrange areas the 6 1/2 inch woofers dont have enough kick for me. I for one love heavy, heavy bass and while these are good enough so that you can hear the lows and feel some of the bass from music and exlosions in movies its just not enough for someone like me. Overall these are great speakers but if you wanna have your walls shake go get a separate subwoofer and you will have a perfect setup.

jensen isn't as bad as you were told
if you are looking for something that is cheap, yet good, then you have found the right speakers. Money can be a problem, yes i know, but i needed new speakers badly for my super computer room. I listen to mp3's like a mug and play games loudly and i demand good clear sound for my 279 hours of mp3's and games and these jensens work more than well for me. bass could use a little work, but good nonetheless. but i have a sub so it doesn't matter to me. i wanted clarity in my music. i am all about clarity. these speakers are not a waste of cash. they may be cheap, but they will do what you want them to do. if you want clarity and you don't want to spend a ton of cash, then get these bad boyz. trust me. its worth it

    You'll notice the difference.
I had some cheap speaker wire running between a great receiver and some decent speakers. I thought it sounded okay, but I wasn't really impressed. I bought some of this cable and as soon as I had everything rewired and turned on the system, I could notice that it sounded better. The bass seemed a lot lower and I was happy with the difference. My roommate also noticed the difference as well. Investing in cables is usually a pretty good idea considering how much interference can be caused by a lack of shielding, and how many cables you usually have running out of the back of a system.

Moster Cable makes the Best Wire Available!!
Those cheap, thin wires that come with your speakers do not take full advantage of your stereo. The high resistance of thin wires looses wattage and can make your sound somewhat distortated or lacking depth. If you have a high powered system, a several thousand dollar quality system, or just an every day sony system, you will notice a difference. More power reaches your speakers making more base and less distortion. The thick wire adds depth and can greatly improve overall quality.

Do I use Monster cable? Well, yes, of corse! I have an Onkyo
60 X 5 surround sound reciver with surround sound model
#TX-SV444. I have KLH speakers. 4 satilites, a center, and a 120 watt powered sub. The set is model #SS02-HTIB. I originally had the stock KLH wire hooked up with my system, and it sounded good. But when I added the monster cable, the sound became strong and full of depth. I got much more bass out of the small sattilites, and the highs were noticably clearer.

If I have a choice, I will never buy another brand of wire.

    A Definate Upgrade
Many people have not had the opportunity to listen to a good stereo with good speaker wire. Let's face it, many people have not had the opportunity to listen to a good stereo. After hooking up the Monster XP speaker wire to my Kenwood 507 Home Theater in a box system, I was truly amazed by the sound quality difference.

I was a little hesitant buying 50 dollar speaker wire - I mean come-on - I'm not made of money here... I just bought a $500 Home Theater system. But it was DEFINATELY WORTH IT. The added bass really enhances the full spectrum of sound. Whether you are listening to electronic music, classic rock, or classical - YOU WILL NOTICE A DIFFERENCE on a good stereo. I did hook it up to my low wattage Aiwa bookshelf system and did not find a huge difference. Maybe a little fuller bass.

When considering buying a good Stereo, Home Theater system, or Speakers - Don't go cheap on the speaker wire. It's like buying a Porche 911 and putting pleather on the seats...why ruin a beautiful thing?

ONE IMPORTANT POINT: Monster offers this wire in a off-white color instead of the clear plastic covers. If you want mount speakers on walls or hide the wire discretly - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND LOOKING FOR THIS COLOR. (...)

    great sound but picture misleading
These speakers sound great for their size. The picture that amazon.com has representing the speakers is misleading though. The maple speakers shown have nice silver accents. The ones I received are in fact maple, but have black where the silver is represented in the picture.

Nice open sound period; nevermind the price.
These are really nice speakers. The highs are clear; the bass is tight. The midrange is a tad thin but really clean. I have a pair of AR 215PS bookshelf speakers at about the same price. The Wharfedales are flat out better in all categories. They fill a medium size room with smooth sound; they even look better. NICE!!!

Just to address a couple of issues. The Black Ash speakers I received have silver accents on the top and bottom front of the speakers, but not on the front center of the units. As I said above they look very good. The dimensions are 15 1/8" High X 8 1/4" Wide X 6 1/2" Deep. The Wharfedale manual that comes packed with the speakers lists frequency response as 48 to 20,000 Hz. The tweeters are fero-fluid cooled.

Buy these speakers. Buy them as fast as you can!!
Happily this day, my wonderful Wharfedale Atlantic 100's have arrived. I'm still waiting for my Harman Kardon receiver to show up, so tonight I plugged my barely decent Sony boom box receiver into them. It boasts a modest 3.2 Ohm preference, so I'm "pushing" the sound into the 6 Ohm Atlantics. The boom box has endured about 7 years of moderate tape playing. So to slap in an equally worn copy of Steely Dan's 'Aja', only to find resoundingly detailed and rich sound flowing out the other end . . . and I paid less than 100 dollars for these little guys . . . okay, Wharfedale, what is your secret!? I suspect that when the Harman Kardon arrives, and the 2 meet, the results will defy my greater sensibilities. To say the least. So my friend, treat yourself a little this day, and buy a pair!! And the speakers happen to be beautiful as well, elegant and matching their crystal sound with both class and style. January isn't even over, and I've already made my best purchase of the year!!

    Modus Music Center Speaker
This center went quite well in my system, I would recommend this speaker as the best center you can buy in it's price range. Build quality is good, front baffle is think and non-resonant- the speaker has been a good purchase.

Wharfedale modus is a powerful center.
In todays surround systems, the center channel just does not do voices alone. The job of a complete full dimensional channel is handled superbly by this center from wharfedale. The price is right and the sound is full. Wharfedale continues to produce items that can be enjoyed by those without deep pockets. I had no problem in balancing the timbre with my Infinity Kappa series 7.5 front speakers.
    Great Stuff!

solid speakers that will please any audiophile.
I would recommend this system for anyone wnating to intensify their DVD experience. The sound it very clean, but not overbearing or "tinny" with its silk tweater. The dual drivers with the silk tweater provide a comfortable listening experience. Clear, accurate, sharp appearance and sound, Good build quality and hardware.

A word about the size: if you have size constraints, be careful, it will not rest lightly on your TV.

I'm trying to limit my bias, but I liked the sound of this center speaker so much I bought two more for rear speakers. MFM-7s left right, modus music centers, center and rear.Matched up with a Yamaha 795 receiver and a decent Polk sub, and your in DD or DTS Heaven!

    Excellent Value
These are excellent speakers for the price. Compared to the Bose 101's, these are 2-way, with a larger driver, heavier, and 1/2 the price. They have a better high-frequency response, and the bass is impressive for this price range. The mid-range is a tad bit "muddy". However, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the sound and the solid construction.

    Happy Snappy
I was looking for a pair of decent speakers to hang on my sunroom wall, and I looked in the right place with these. This pair of speakers does not take the cake for the most attractive speakers, but you do not need to look at them to hear them. They sound pretty good, and considering their price, they are everything and more than I expected. They do not have the best range in the world, but they certainly satisfy me.

I got my pair at The Wiz. Nobody beats this pair of speakers at this price. I guess that is kind of ironic, becuause 'nobody beats The Wiz!' Heh heh heh heh.

    Great speakers, great price
These are really nice speakers. Solid construction, heavy magnet and nice design...You can't beat the 5.25" woofer and bass response for their size and cost. It would be nice with a separate mid range speaker, but even despite, the highs and lows are very clear and crisp. Update, the speakers are manufactured by Recoton.
