Good entry level powered subwoofer
Quality & Low Price-Not an Oxymoron
A Nice SurpriseWhile shopping, I came across this KLH BB-II for $29 each (closeout at Fry's). I decided to go ahead and buy 3 of them since they seemed to be constructed fairly well and they were so cheap. I suspected I would be returning them the next day assuming they would likely not sound very good.
I first hooked up a pair in the guest bedroom and adjusted the volume using Video Essentials as a guide. And then I put in several DVDs that I am familiar with (Phantom Menace, Ozzy Live, Elton John live, The Matrix, etc.).
What a nice surprise! I was immediately impressed. It's a fairly large room (20x25 feet) and the little subs made a tremendous difference. I was startled to hear them sound so tight and punchy without distortion and fairly loud levels. I can't say they were overpowering or anything, but I think that is partly the point. The fit in nicely and simply do what they are designed to do - handle the low end without being overt. They are definite keepers here for this room!
Then I took the remaining KLH BB-II I had purchased and hooked it up in my master bedroom - to see how it compared to the much higher wattage subs I've had in there in the past. I had even tried a 10" KLH powered sub in this room in the past and was very disappointed at the result (it sounded really bad to me).
But this BB-II model took my by surprise again. It may sound crazy, but I actually thought the KLH sounded better than anything I'd ever tried in there before. Better than the Polk, Yamaha, Altec Lansing (and of course the other KLH). I was very excited about it and plan to keep it there too. It just sounds smooth to me. It's not boomy or obnoxious. It sounds clean to my ears and I am very happy with my purchase!
Again, it may seem nutty, but these little subs really do perform great. They may not be the biggest and baddest, and certainly not appropriate for the extremely high-end crowd, but I honestly believe they compare favorably to many of the subs that are out there that cost several hundred dollars more unjustifiably. Just get them setup correctly and you'll be amazed at what they do for the price.
Highly recommended!

- Revolutionary subwoofer delivers twice the bass energy
- Innovative satellites stand on desk or mount on wall
- Convenient headphone jack and volume control
- Dual chamber subwoofer plays louder and goes lower for unbelievable bass
- Satellite speakers provide silky smooth mid and high frequencies

they're mediocre
Top-notch soundThe speakers are solid and well-manufactured, like all of the logitech products I've used, and I highly recommend them.
Outstanding for the price! The subwoofer is great. I have never owned a subwoofer before and I was a little surprised at how large it is. There is definitely plenty of bass, the nob isn't even at halfway.
The setup was a breeze. It took me about 10 minutes. Anyone can do it! The little blue light isn't as annoying as everyone says it is. If you don't like it, stick a piece of tape over it! Simple. I love the fact that there is a headphone jack in the front speaker.. this makes my life alot easier.
Overall, these speakers were a great, small investment and I'm glad I chose Logitech!

Best deal on a 17" LCDSure, you can get a better monitor, for example a Sony or a Viewsonic, but it will cost you 1 1/2 to 2 times more. And despite the price, this unit doesn't compromise quality. No dead pixels, good viewing angles all around, and a crisp, bright screen at the native 1280x1024 resolution.
This monitor also has a superbly small desktop footprint. Sure, all LCD monitors will save space over a CRT, but the GVision's oval base gains a couple inches of footprint savings over comparable monitors.
The built-in speakers don't produce a lot of sound, and they are a bit tinny. But if computer sound is important to you, you'll probably want to invest in a separate amplified speaker system anyway. For me, I just wanted to get rid of my ugly accessory speakers and clear some desk space. These built-in speakers did the trick.
Best LCD for displaying text. Weak on graphics. The movie issue can be improved in two ways:
1. use the monitor bright mode for movies and regular mode for text
2. use the bright feature in your movie software.
Option 2 works the best as I have experienced, especially for widescreen movies.
The monitor also performs well for games despite its 40ms rating for latency. No ghosting whatsoever.
I also bought a VPR matrix LCD which had a digital input and did perform better on movies and games. It also had a better viewing angle. Yet, the KOGI was far better for text so much that I return the vpr matrix and kept the KOGI.
The vpr matrix had 5 dead white pixel while the KOGI had none.
I got the black version of the KOGI, which goes well with my other black computer equipment.
One last advice is to get a dual display setup: LCD + CRT. That way, you get the best of both world.
Kogi 17" A Great Balance of Price and ValueI don't know why they allow whako product reviews --- although do note that you should not plug in anything but USB to a running system.
If you first see a Kogi as I did, next to a dozen competing lcds, it stands out. It has bright, vivid colors mixed with a clear display ---- and an exceptional control menu usually found on more expensive monitors.
The white is very white, the colors very strong --- but when you go to the menu you'll find the factory default for brightness and contrast is at 50% --- a very good sign for the future as it signals that the factory isn't 'maxing' the display to make it look good.
Next, and very important, Kogi has expanded the warranty on the 17" to three years ---
As for text display, Windows XP has a feature to smooth the jagged edge of text on lcd --- but for free you can get ClearTweak to give you even more control and better, clearer text ( [website] )
Prices are coming down, but at [money amount]after rebates this 17" is off to a very promising start and looks like it will be a solid choice even as prices fall as we go toward Christmas.
A few Final Thoughts: Buy only what YOU like, with features YOU can personally see and which make sense to you --- then make sure you can bring it back without an 'open box' penalty (Stand at the cash register and ask for a waiver and see how fast a manager will be there to say 'sure' --- be sure to get it in writing: I get them to put it on the back of their business cards.) Next be sure the warranty is workable and the understand the relationship between the optional warranty and the store that sells it --- my son has a letter from a major retailer that says they require three attempts to repair before he can expect them to honor the 'instant replacement' promise they made when he bought the warranty.
Lastly, Enjoy!

Good Buy1. Never skips. I ride school bus(very bumpy) and it never skipped when riding the school bus.
2. Its abilities are all excellent (Ex: Bass boost, built in speaker, etc)
3.Over 24 Track programmable CD memory.(a lot of songs)
But there are several major Cons though on this product.
1. 40 Seconds Anti shock isn't bad but most of other CD players on this price range has 45 Seconds Anti Shock.
2. The price may have gone down a little, but its still little steep for a CD player that just plays CDs. (Ex: not capable with MP3 and doesn't have radio)
3.It is very easy to spot scratches when you drop them. (Very common with Panasonic Products; in my opnion)
Overall, this product is very descent and recommendable to anyone. But I would prefer Aiwa Products because their price is very reasonable and they have some excellent CD players. I would also prefer MP3-CD players (especially Rio One) because they have some very good capabilities.
Great product but doesn't have mp3 formats
bass isn't everything

Exactly what I neededFor the price, you really can't go wrong with this speaker set. PC owners will delight in the superior sound coming from their computers.

Excellent Value for a small roomSpeaker cables are problematic as they are not flexible for different layouts. Hiss levels on this speaker setup are also loud for something this small.
Overall, a good economy buy, but don't expect world class sound quality.
Powerful bass, music lacks overall warmthThis system does what it says: it's designed for gamers. Q3A and CS games have perfect sound effects. You can feel the rockets exploding or count the bullets blasting out of your M16 with the subwoofer. Positioned correctly, the satelites provide spectacular surround sound. They are especially useful for those climatic ends when you need to hear where those footsteps or gunshots are coming from.
As an avid music collector, I can say that these speakers do a pretty good job of handling many types of music. However, it lacks warmth with classical and thrash (yes, old school Metallica and Sepultura). The sound comes out dry, which is why I'm giving this 4-stars.
I haven't had a chance to test the digital inputs, so I can't help you there. SB Live! 5.1 users like me should look for a different package if digital is so important (which it isn't... look at Klipsch!)
At 90 bucks (wherever you can find them), the ACS56 is a great bargain. My friend has an ATP 2.1 set that works great too. Altec Lansing is THE choice when you're looking for multimedia sound from low-end to the upper mid-range cost brackets.
Great sound quality in low price range
- 70 watts of 4-channel gaming output adds excitement and surround sound
- Four compact satellites are amplified and magnetically shielded
- Powered 6-inch wooden subwoofer adds dynamic bass response
- Two analog inputs accommodate 3D positional soundcards
- Digital control for master, surround, bass and treble levels with LED display

Bigger is Better
Pro: Hey, it's a $100.00 subwoofer. Con: Hey, it's a...That being said, it's adequate for a [price] for use with a *small* stereo system. Don't expect it to perform a miracle on a [price] surround system. The bass is adequate, but frequency range is narrow and "thumpy" lacking detail. Tends to make a system sound like a boom box. On hardwood floors it's a good performer but too small for carpeted rooms. Both the frequency cutoff and volume are adjustable. But the controls are rear mounted and placement of the sub can make accessing the controls difficult. The remote controls provided for newer models are far more convenient.
As others have noted the "auto power on" feature is flawed and produces an annoying THUMP when your system is turned on. It's better to disable the feature, although that leaves the sub drawing power on a constant basis.
I cannot figure out, as one other reviewer has noted, if an apparent lack of bass on occasion is a "feature" or a technical problem with the auto power off. Every so often I find myself putting an ear to this sub to check if it's powered on or not. Some times the bass is barely audible. At those times, even with the "auto power on" feature disabled, I have to flip the power switch off and on again to get the sub to function.
It's great for my sister's stereo but I wouldn't buy another one. If you want a hundred bucks worth of sound reinforcement for a weak, low end system - it's a good buy. If you want something that sounds really good - look elsewhere and spend more. Especially for a unit with a remote control.
