Bought it December last year, been listening to 8.4s since the purchased date and it sounds more better each day. I tried max volume of up to -20dB on a Yamaha RX-V640 and I'm please with what sound and detail it produced. Even with different genre Jazz, Classical, Rock, Pop, R&B, etc. The bottomline is that this speakers are professional performers.

Though it takes sometime to break-in, listening to it out-of-the-box will annoy your ear, it's muddy at first power-up then became nicer and nicer. The grills are flimsy but for the price this speaker are really best buy.

I got these babies about 2 weeks ago from Amazon.
They are not as compact as I thought.
I think that this is an excellent speaker for the price I paid (400$ / Pair), but I don't think spending the original price (600$) is reasonable, and not because of sound quality.
Actually I haven't decided if I'm going to keep mine or not.
I live in Oklahoma and it's very difficult to buy speakers over here, because you don't have selection of speakers that you can audit.
I love British speakers and they are very expansive in the States.
Let's get to business: sound quality is superb. Very effective and punchy low end without neglecting the high end which performs great clarity and a very open sound.
Bi-Amping is significantly, unbelievably effective. I did it with a pretty powerful NAD receiver and the compatible power amp. Amazing sound and capability.
The negative side (critical to me but does not effect the rate, just because of the price I paid): UK speakers which are made in China, I don't think that this is suitable for speakers (and I didn't notice any comment regarding that on Amazon), terrible grills - I don't know how long they will last, also I don't like the finish (vinyl that I'm not sure how durable it will be and how they will look like in few years).
Bottom Line: great sound but still hesitating due to the built quality, I'm eager to get something like Monitor Audio Silver 6/8 or the astonishing Wharfedale Pacific Evo 30 but they are more than twice the price I paid and I'm not sure that the sound is any better.
If you can compromise about the built and you get them, try Bi-Amping with quality compatible Amps and you get a high end sound.

It's somewhat hard to describe the sound quality of a speaker in words -- it's kind of like when people wax poetic about a fine wine.
So, I'll cut to the bottom line: I have been very pleased with my Diamond 8.4s. At this price point, nothing comes close to the combination of outstanding sound quality, build quality, and good looks. If I had to do it over again, there is no question I'd go with Wharfedale.

For the price these Advent AS2 Dual 6" 2-Way Tower Speakers preform like $400.00 speakers. You can not go wrong.

As the previous reviewer had said these are awesome speakers for the money. They are made in China as most electronics are today but the quality is tremendous. The sound is awesome and I have these combined with a Cerwin Vega center spearker, Advent Marbl I/O spkrs, and Advent subwoofer and the whole system rocks. You will find none better for the price. I had seen these in BJ's and had wanted to buy them but I found them on here for less.

If you in the search not for good, but for the BEST audio 2.1 system it is. Nothing else even can't approach. NO Bose, no Harmon, no Logitech, nothing.
This system will reproduce music and any sound with UNMATCHED quality. You can use it as the reference monitors because it is exceptionally linear sound.
I repeat NOTHING else can't come even close. I have $1000 Onkyo system that isn't bad ;-). But it smokes, no place to comparison.

I don't think there are too many other speakers out there that pack this much power and clarity. We are talking 245 watts total power! (125 watt sub and 60 watt each L and R mains). These things are outrageously loud and clear. Punchy bass and clear highs (not tinny). You could use them for just about anything really. They have RCA L and R channel inputs so they can be hooked up to a portable CD player, MP3 player, MiniDisc, or TV, just to name a few. There are also some convenient mic and aux inputs on the right main cabinet. They are larger than most PC speakers but the amount of sound is well worth the extra space.

I listened to every speaker system I could find at any of the major stores and this was by far the best sound comparing them to most I found. The only other speakers that come close are the Klipsch ProMedia line speakers which are fantastic also (but also very expensive). I wanted Klipsch speakers bad, but I bought these at an outrageously good price so that's what made me decide to purchase them instead of the Klipsch. I saved $130 off the normal price on these believe it or not, so it was impossible to pass up!

The Sonic XS line is made by Electro-Voice (EV) who is one of the top manufacturers of professional sound systems found in night clubs and concert halls so they have definitely done their homework. Horn tweeters allow for louder highs without distoring and the long throw sub speaker has killer bass that absolutely thumps. I have the Sonic XS 2.1's hooked up to my PC which has an Audigy 2 Platinum soundcard in it. I have my computer volume set at 60% with the sub level set at about 25% of the volume level and the main is only at around 20%. Any louder and you will have to leave the room! You will hear stuff from your computer games and digital music that you were never able to hear before, that I guarantee. You will think you are at a live rock concert. Unbelieveable!!

I purchased this system for use as an enhancement to my TV speakers. For a table top TV with audio outputs, these powered speakers do wonders for the sound. A ... table top TV sounds like a million with these puppies hooked up. It doesn't hurt to have digital satellite tv audio either (sounds great off the dish). The sub woofer is gutsy with a level control and the other speakers have a horn tweeter as well as a woofer. There's an on/off and bass/treble control. There's also a mike jack, input for a portable device (such as a portable CD player) and a headphone jack (all on the right side speaker). For the money you can't beat them in my opinion. Amazon had the best price also. ... Great product!!

These are awesome speakers! I bought 4 for my home theater system. The sound is amazingly clear and even though they are small, they give lots of sound. From what I understand, these speakers use the same tweeters as the top end model by NHT. Can't beat the price, either.

This is the perfect speakers for midrange and high tones. Extremely warm and smooth tones - great for jazz and classic music listening. I've got 4 of these units primarily for home theater listening though. It's a perfect mix and match satellite speakers for audio DVD experience. After much searching for a home theater package system - I found there really wasn't a very good solution. This pieced together with a center channel and decent subwoofer will not disappoint. You will definitely need a subwoofer and an AVReceiver that can pump enough energy out.

The actual design hasn't changed much from it's inception. The high-gloss is truly like glass. These are great build and finish quality for such a reasonable cost. The speaker connects are too closely packed together for easy wire installation - but I can live with the nuisance for the outstanding sound and value.

Just a warning to all of you out there.

I bought the boombox to listen to non-music content, e.g. books on tape and news. As it happens, its music ability is pretty good, and logic controls for all functions makes it a pleasure to operate. The only drawback so far is a somewhat noisy tape mechanism--audible at low volumes, but not too distracting.

I've had it only for only a month, but so far I am quite pleased with the purchase.

I recently received the Aiwa CSD-FD92 and am VERY satisfied with my purchase. It is an excellent value considering the great sound (best I've heard in a boom box) and the extra features (incl. remote, able to modify sound to pop, rock or jazz, etc., etc.). I plan on buying more for other members of my family as they all want to borrow mine! If you're looking for a reasonably-priced boom box with great sound, you won't be disappointed with this item.

The sound quality is excellent for the price range. Great for a small room. This unit has a lot of features that are only seen in models costing ...more! cd-r & cd-rw compatible, autoreverse cassette player.

It's been my experience that Altec Lansing makes good computer speakers. In this case, not only do they make good speakers, they make them affordable too. Unless you have real high expectations.

Considering that these are a low cost option, they sound real good. The sub unit has enough punch to add a nice bass line to your music. The satellites are small but produce good sound. Even at some higher levels they don't get real nasty and distorted like lesser computer speakers.

I would have liked to see a headphone jack on these, but considering the cost, I guess features have to suffer. Perhaps more money could also get a sub level control on one of the satellite speakers. As most might, I placed the sub under the back of my desk, thus it's not real easy to access the level setting. At least it has one though.

Overall, I'd say this set is a good buy if you're not concerned about having surround sound or a bunch of settings at your disposal. I'm sure people have paid more and gotten less. Picky audiophiles may want to pass on this and look up other options, but for most, this should fit the bill.

I bought these primarily for watching DVDs on my PC and they haven't dissapointed me. These are excellent speakers, and the subwoofer is great. They provide an excellent 3-D effect. The subwoofer has a separate volume control---- perfect for when you want to adjust how much the room will shake as you watch a movie. The only problem this set has is that it doesn't have a jack where you can plug in your headphones. Oh well. I solved that by buying a small extension cable, so I don't have to reach behind my desk to plug the headphones directly.

Bottom line: these are great for movies, games, music--- and they won't ruin your budget.

This speaker set is a very good product for one's computer or small stereo system and also for using less room for BIG audio as the speakers have very good audio quality. The only thing that is missing from these is a plug to put in my headphones!! Other than that, this is a worthy product.

These speakers are well worth your money, especially with the price that they are selling it for. The speakers and subwoofer maybe be small compared to other speaker systems but this is good in the fact that you can put it almost anywhere. Although, it is small it has a lot of power. Just half volume and it's already intense. It's excellent for Gaming, and Music. Especially with CounterStrike, and other multiplayer games. Gun shots, grenades, and all other effects are very crisp and intense. As for music goes it is one of the best I have experienced in Cambridge porducts (knowing that I have good knowledge in what speakers supposed to sound like). The Subwoofer surprised me because I didn't expect all that much power to come out, out of that small sub. Overall, I really enjoy the FPS 1600 and it is a very good investment that is well worth your money. I mean you can spend $...+ on other speakers that give you the same quality and power but for a higher price.

bought this set of speakers about 2 years ago and up to date it has never disappointed me.incredible value.size of the speakers are very small.but don't be fooled!!they will sound exceptionally well for their size.nice crispy highs,good mids and a thumpy(but not very low)bass-thats the summary for this system.they wont get very loud still enough to fill a small to medium sized room with excellent sound.great!!!!!

These little guys sound great! I use them for heavy, loud gaming, and am totally pleased with the performance. crisp highs, nice midrange and the low end (while not as low as it would be with a larger woofer) is thunderous. For the money, theyre killer little speakers.

have had these speakers for years, and they are outstanding. have surpassed my expectations, and just read that Consumer Reports gave this model a best buy rating, for sound, value, and their 10 year warranty. I've had mine for 12 years, and they play as well as the day I ordered them. thank you henry kloss- you make a great speaker. and now I can spend my saved money on other things. like my fishing trips!

I received these speakers as a gift and have been nothing but impressed. They have a terrific sound. Great bass and at a very affordable price. I highly reccomend the Model-six bookshelf speakers!

This pair of speakers is the best bargain I have ever come across in over fifty years experience in purchasing high quality sound systems. I really don't see how Cambridge SoundWorks can make a living at this, but I certainly hope they continue to do so.

...because even though I have tested them and they sound great, the Bose Companion 3 is like the best thing for computers. Trust me, nothing gets close to it, or maybe something gets close, but nothing beats it. So yeah from now on Id give the Companion 3 5 or 10 stars.. and all speakers would be below it. Ive got Klipsch 2.1 Promedia, they were great but the Bose speakers are so much smaller and sound even greater! the Bose basically kill the klipsch, and if it kills klipsch, it also kills this Creative speakers. Trust me, save another $$ and get the Bose companion 3 instead! you wont regret it! I payed $200 for the companion, and what someone said of having a faulty one.. dude you should have stayed with it till the store got it back!! Then exchange! You did a HUGE mistake! When I connected the companion to my comp I was VERY amazed.. it sounded like a $600 hometheater!

I needed to upgrade my dingy old Altec Lansing's, bought in 1999. I researched several speakers sets. All I needed was a simple 2.1 or 3 speaker set up since I dont use my PC for watching DVDs and thus didnt require a 5.1 spendy setup. My budget was 150$. I didn't need to waste 250$ on the (greatly overpriced) Bose companion 3 or the top of the line Logitech Z680. I looked hard at the Klipsch Promedia 2.1(150$) and the very affordable Logitech Z-2200(105$)- great value. I almost pulled the trigger in favor of the Z-2200 until I read more about the Megaworks 250D on creative's website, then I was sold! It is more expensive(155/140$ after rebate), but also offers more power & features and I felt better quality. Here's the specs: generous 300w RMS, THX, 3.5" sats(75w RMS/ea.) & 8" (down fire) wood sub for the bass(150w RMS), 99db SNR, and 25-20kHz range. Now you're playing w/ power!

I gave these as a holiday gift and they sound superb in their new home. Even when they are cranked-up all the way they still are stunning with no crackle or hiss. I have the Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1 and for a 2.1 system these are comparable.
