This is a very good system! I tried it and it works well! This is a great system for a low price!

These don't sound nearly as clean as the Altec Lansing ACS50's I used to have on the computer, let alone the 3-piece Altec set I have in the office. However, since this is just for the kids to play games, it does the job and the price is right. I don't want the kids going deaf!

"Wow!" was the first word that popped into my mind when I tested this out with a few CD's. Not because of the sound quality, but because of what you can hear. It seems as if this thing 'enhances' the parts you don't normally hear. It's kinda odd hearing your favorite song with the background music playing in the same level with what your really supposed to hear. Sorta like a concert experience. This isn't really bad, but you don't really hear what the singer is saying when the background music is in the way. If your into a more 'concert-like' experience, then this is for you. What this really shines though is in video games. After playing Quake with this, I was blown away. All the bombs and explosions are amplified. In Unreal, you can literally hear the people screaming in the distance (if that's what you want to hear, LOL). For movies, it's a mixed bag. I love this with action movies (because it makes the gunfire and explosions all the more convincing), but it's always kinda odd hearing the background sounds while the characters are talking.

It all depends on what your into. If you love video games, or want a concert-like experinece, then this is for you.

I have had these subwoofers for a year now and they still hit very strong. They sound great and they last long. I highly suggest getting a set of these baby's.

my cuz has two of these tornados hooked up in his 1971 buick centurian. he has them hooked into a u.s. acoustics 150x2 amp at 4 ohms. i sat in his car for maybe 5 min last night and could barely roll out of bed this morning. for the price some of the best on the market. also for only being 175 watts i could not believe what these were putting out. there is definitely better out there but these are the way to go for the money. buy these and rattle like he is in his buick.

This is the pair to get hands down if you have a 200 square foot room or so. It has nice acoustics and a smooth balance across the range. I like the crisp sound with a snappy bass effect. Good highs and excellent lows for this size speaker. I highly recommend it.

I bought these speakers from Best Buy almost a year ago for $20 a pair. I use them as fronts for my Pioneer VSXD411 receiver,and have the KLH AV1001Bs as surrounds. Just so you know, home theater has just recently become a passion of mine, so I wouldn't call myself an audiophile. But I do know what sounds good to me. These are great as main speakers, although they appear to have a little distortion with high frequencies. This is only noticeable occasionally, since I mostly use them for movie sound. The bass is more than ample. Movies like the Matrix and Lord of the Rings sound rich & full, even when not using a sub!
I've been in those sound rooms with all the BIG names in home audio, with some snotty sales geek telling me how much better a set of thousand dollar speakers will make my system sound. I can say that I honestly can't hear a huge difference between theirs & mine. At least not enough to mortgage my house for.
I may upgrade someday, if I can find better speakers for a reasonable amount of money. At regular price, these may not be better than comparably priced Sonys or Pioneers. But if you can get 'em at ten, or even twenty bucks a pop, jump on it. You will be satisfied. Here is a list of what my budget system is composed of:

I just ordered my second KLH 10" sub after using another one for almost a year. I shopped for nearly a month and could not find anything better for the price. I use it in a small room, primarily for home theatre use and it works well. It gets a little flabby if pushed hard but that's to be expected in a speaker in this range. Not the best choice for loud music but decent for the 5.1 soundtracks. Plenty of rumble. I never use mote than 20 watts when listening to music and at that level it is reasonably clean. Hard to beat for price.

I Just got this system a month or two ago, and I'm happy with it. The speakers are quite outstanding actually. I have everything run through a Sony Receiver (the one that I've already reviewed) along with some vintage Yamaha center speakers, and the setup sounds quite nice so far. As everyone has already mentioned regarding KLH sound systems, the speakers are amazing, and the subwoofers lack bass. Then again, you do save a great deal of money on the sattellite system, so throw it towards a decent sub. The speakers come with everything required for mounting, except decent wall screws. Also, the included speaker wire is absolutely dreadful, I'd recommend getting your own separately.

This system is perfect for an apartment where you have to worry about neighbors above and below complaining about constant wall thumping. I've had no complaints thus far. I don't mean to sell the sub short, it is nice for the price, and doesn't seem like its going to blowout any time soon. Again, if you want to shake the paintings off your neighbors walls, you might want to try something else.

These speakers are a cost-effective solution for remote sound in a Family Room or Home Office. The sound is better than expected for the low cost. Plenty of power to be used without additional speakers. Wall mounting is tricky (non-adjustable bracket), but achievable.
