I bought a set of surround sound speaker mounts at another retailer and I was shell shocked at how expensive they were...100 dollars for a set of five. I just couldn't believe that such a little item could cost so much. I was even more disappointed when I opened them to find that they weren't even metal but a heavy gauge plastic! I'm definately in the wrong business! I was determined to find them cheaper and thankfully I found these. I saved 60 dollars ordering these and they are much better made!

This would be a good upgrade from any 2 speaker set that you get from DELL, COMPAQ or so. AVS300 features a large subwoofer so that it really enhances the otherwise weak satellites.
Do not expect much from these speakers and start to compare it with other speaker sets. It definitely sound better than ANYTHING that is under $50 MSRP, but do not go overboard and compare it with the logitech Z640's. It would provide enough "boom" and clarity for mostly everyone's listening. I'm a college student and can't say how i like these speakers, and i listen to MP3's all day and play counter strike too. For around $20 these speakers are a great value.

The sound is pretty good for a sub 30 dollar system, but overall, they need more adjustable sound. Sometimes the bass is perfect (techno music) and sometimes it's too much (dvd's) Overall, worth the money, but you get what you pay for.

This 6.1 speaker system sounds terrific with our Yamaha RXV630 receiver. They perform very well for normal TV viewing and music, but really shine when watching a DVD with true surround sound.

They were easy to set up. The set includes color-coded wires which correspond to individual speakers; you do have to provide the appropriate connectors on the wires to make them compatible with your receiver.

The speakers are bigger than some other surround sound systems, but they are solidly built with quality wood cases. The three small rear speakers have built-in mounting brackets.

THIS WALKIE TALKIE IS A GREAT FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY YOUNG AND OLD. THIS CAN REACH A REASONABLE DISTANCE AND IS VERY AFFODABLE IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GOOD WALKIE TALKIE TIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU.

I bought this system several weeks ago and could not be more happy with the way that it performs. Every snap, crackle, and pop of a film comes to life and envelopes you. I watched The Matrix after hooking this up and couldn't keep the grin off my face. The receiver unit is fantastic and offers a decent array of selections for surround sound options. Anybody for beers and a movie at my place?

My two complaints are relatively minor:

1) The bass box doesn't roll out bass that you can feel. The lows aren't quite as deep as they could be. I think my roommates are quite happy with that, though...

2) The remote lacks the control of some of the features on the head unit. It also is not programmable for all of the other devices that I own. I got it to turn my TV off and on but that's about it.

Keep in mind that setting up a home theater can be extremely time consuming. Running the wires under your carpet and attching satellite speakers to your wall can be daunting. While the kit does come with some cable, it definitely is not enough to wire a larger room.

You're also going to have to purchase Audio/Video cables to match whatever you're setting up (I needed two sets of A/V cables for my non-Dolby Digital setup - you may need more).

For the money, this is an all-around fantastic bargain that I would recommend to anybody without a huge bankroll.

Most units with these features cost a lot more, so I am very pleased with the value and performance. The sound is very good, but then I expected that after reading the many good reviews for other Philips products. There is a little hiss when playing some tapes with the bass boost but it really is only noticeable when sound is turned way up and you're close to the speaker. The bass boost is the only sound quality adjustment. Simplicity is a virtue in this case!

The radio reception is excellent and digital signal lock-on is much better and faster than with dial tuning. Setting up radio presets (30 each for AM & FM) and changing stations is a bit of a pain since the remote and unit buttons do not allow for direct numeric entry (forward/back only). There is station search.

The remote is small and fits well in hand or pocket, and works well enough *for what it is*. But, it doesn't allow changes from one feature to another (i.e. radio to CD). For that you have to go back to the box. There is no mute button.

The unit looks really heavy but is not- it is just the typically bulky speakers. The speakers can be seperated and moved further out to provide better sound or for a larger area. The only caveat- the speaker wire is very thin and the end connected to the speakers is buried inside, so replacement would mean light disassembly. This is no big deal for me since I plan to use it mostly all together, but for someone else you might want to plan to improve the wire from the beginning to avoid breakdown at an awkward time.

these speakers work great. they are easy to use and set up. There sound is outstanding.

The picture on this monitor looks great, the pixels are sharp, and it's nice to finally have a flat monitor that supports 1600x1200 resolution. Having said that, however, there is a noticeable waviness, and often a flicker. My ViewSonic 18" LCD doesn't have that problem at all.

[CORRECTION: My wallpaper was causing the unstable appearance. I changed to a different image and now it looks nice and stable.]

These polk self-powered speakers are surprisingly accurate sounding and very professional looking in any room. They image well, creating an accurate stereo field. Midrange and treble frequencies are crisp and defined. The bass is a bit thin but still accurate and not a serious drawback to the overall sound. The polk atrium monitors mount very easily in both vertical and horizontal positions. The large, easy to manipulate adjustment knobs on the top and bottom of each speaker make installing, adjusting, pivoting and fine tuning the position of a speaker in the room, or on cieling a breeze. The grills have a very low profile and are detachable, revealing a sexy blue full range speaker and tweater. The speakers look great with the grills either on or off.

These monitors are a fantastic substitute for a mini/micro audio system. Just hook up a set of these in your bedroom, office, library and hook up an ipod, diskman or laptop for great sound or to create a mini a/v system. I use mine with my ipod. I also use with my powerbook to listen to iTunes or to watch dvd's with much fuller sound than the onboard speakers. The Atrium's crank and can get very loud. Well worth the money but shop around.
