EZ Setup BAD SoundI got the top of the line computer and the "best" speakers aka boston speakers. I have had so many problems with the sound turning off for no reason, the speakers make weirdd noises from no where, and even though this system is easy to set up it is still hard to listen to those nice CDs of games without hearing a "slam" or a stop in the middle of a peacefull waterfall CD or in the middle of an online game of StarCraft. These Speakers are not the best i would go with another company not boston.

Very Pleased - Good Clean ProductThe individual components are also extremely clean...no ill-fitting pieces, bad edges, grilles that don't fit properly, etc. Again, all was found to be as good as one would expect of far costlier systems.
The instructions are a bit sparse and confusing, but the need to refer to them is quite minimal as hookup is straightforward. The factory packaging includes precut 24-gauge wire, and hanging brackets for the four twisty satellites.
I found prior reviewers of KLH subwoofers to be correct in their observation that the "Auto" power setting is not sensitve enough to be useful, unless you routinely listen to media at moderate sound levels and which has pronounced bass content. I just leave my subwoofer on all the time, though it could probably be plugged into the "Switched" outlet found on the backplane of many receivers.
Some other reviewers have also cited problems with complete failure of the subwoofer. These complaints have me looking over my shoulder a bit, though I can report that my own unit is functioning fine.
My KLH system is driven by a Sony STR-635 receiver. I have a Sony 32" Trinitron and a Toshiba 6-head Hi-Fi stereo VCR. The system is used in a 12x12 foot family room with standard 8 foot ceiling, though it will occasionally also be used in a 12x20 room with a 20 foot vaulted ceiling when I want to do "Theater" for a larger home audience. The KLH system is competent in this larger environment.
I typically listen to "dramatic" instrumental music (e.g. Jerry Read Smiths's hammered dulcimer) at moderate levels, and generally older videos such as Alfred Hitchcock. I have however tried the system with more recent material (The Bear, Paulie, letterbox Ben Hur, Sound of Music with THX) and the KLH system delivers a very impressive experience. I think readers who prefer modern action videos with advanced soundtracks, would also find the KLH package a worthwhile investment.
Last night I went to a neighbor's home, taking my copy of "Mrs. Miniver" (a British WWII movie) with me. I found the neighbor had a small Sony home theater package custom-installed in his family room. We started the video. On the neighbor's Sony system, my video didn't sound as good as I thought I remembered it to be.
After ten minutes, I talked the neighbor into coming to watch the remainder of that video on my system. My KLH speakers outperformed his Sony stuff without even breathing hard! The sound during the bombing scenes couldn't have been better if we'd been in a commercial theater.
I not only can recommend the HTA-809 to others as a quality investment, but I'm planning to take my own advice and buy a second KLH HTA-809 package for my own home!
I give four stars only because of the insensitive Auto power setting on the subwoofer.
Good for a budget
- 6 satellite speakers and a powered 8-inch subwoofer; 70 watts total system power (140 watts peak)
- Enjoy twice the bass of conventional designs with Logitech's patented subwoofer design
- Place the satellites on a shelf or fix them to a wall; a headphone jack accommodates private listening
- Create 6.1 surround sound from 4-, 5.1-, or 6.1-channel sources using the source selector switch
- Easily hook it up to your video game console with the included adapter; hear the action behind you for greater gaming intensity with rear center channel

the z 640
Logitech X620'sUnfortunately they were sold out, so then I spotted these! I knew logitech were well recommended for sound, so I decided to take a plunge and buy some 6.1 speakers.
Well what can I say? Im not going to be too biased like some stupid reviwers on here lets start with the good points:
>Strong Subwoofer with 25W RMS output (Doubled due to patented technology) definately the best bass producer ive ever heard!
>Strong speakers, 8 Watts RMS per channel over 6 speakers! With 20 Watts in center channel!
>Headphone socket for private listening
>Source switcher - upmixes a 4.1 or 5.1 signal to 6.1
>Subwoofer Volume Control
>Sturdy Volume control - these speakers can go mighty loud, and volume control is progressive, but I dare not turn them up to the max!
>Speakers have their own stands, or can be rotated 180 degrees or attached to a wall via a screw
> Free console adaptor ensures these speakers can be easily used with xbox gamecube or ps2 right out of the box!
>These speakers ARE compatible with DVD players!
>Quickstart Manual and Warranty Card
So the good news is these produce a rock solid sound for a great price, better than Inspire 5.1's? Yes i would think so, definately better than my other two speaker sets anyway!
Sadly the bad points are, but to be fair i must state them:
>Subwoofer cannot be turned off and can be a hinderance as even on low volume it produces a tonne of bass
>Back speaker wires are particularly short!
>Needs a 6.1 Audigy to take full advantage.
So not being biased, honestly i have listed only two bad things i can see at this time. I really do like these speakers and am very pleased with them. The only concern is the amount of wires i have in my tiny room lol... these speakers are compatible with almost any home device and you are even given the adaptor to do it for free!
So if you're looking for a bargain way to step up from 5.1, grab these! I assure you the sound they produce is great, and isnt some thrown together budget model! the specs say for themselves:
70 WATT RMS Output
140 Watts Peak Output
These speakers rock, 5 stars!

Bose- Overpriced, cheaply made testament to advertising.Consumers should do their research before shelling out money for Bose speakers. A google search will bring you to epinions or audioreview websites where you can find review after review from buyers of Bose products.
The commonly accepted wisdom in audio circles is that Bose makes low audio quality products and sells them at very high prices. In other words those Polk, JBL, Wharfedale or Infinity mid-fi products you can find at Amazon are usually higher quality at much better price points.
Compare the sound if you ever get a chance. Make sure you DO NOT depend on volume, in other words volume is a bad indicater of quality. Listen for the high and low notes and to the clarity of the music. Tough to do in a showroom at Circuit City or Best Buy, but even there the differences will show up. Bose attempts to prevent consumers from doing this by segregating their products away from the competition.
After this you might look at online audio magazines (do a google search), Audioreview (one word) and Audiogon. You'll find whole NEW world of audio products such as PSB, Paradigm, Vandersteen, Quad, Sonus Faber, ACI and many more who's products will put you on a much higher level of audio than you'd ever imagine. Usually these speakers are SEVERAL times more electronically sophisticated than Bose at the same price! Good luck and happy hunting!
Quality sound that you would expect from Bose
its worth the money
