Don't buy it!!!
This system just has too many hastles... The cords for the speakers are too short, if you turn the volume control just SLIGHTLY, the music goes WAY TOO LOUD! And eventually, my speakers started to fade in and out and I'm sure it's the speakers because when I plug in another set, works fine! So don't bother wasting your time or money!

Mid-Range for little $$$
The speakers are mid-range for a good price. One of the speakers was dead right out of the box so that was dissapointing, but it probably was an isolated case.

Great speakers for a relatively low price
The FPS1500 speakers are a great value for the sound they deliver. The four satellite speakers provide good sound and can be mounted almost anywhere in the room thanks to their 3 meter long (two speakers) and 5 meter (other two) long cables. The subwoofer provides excellent, strong bass. If one complaint should be made, it would be that the external, movable volume control is a bit too sensitive at certain points. For example, turning the volume knob up from about 33% to 40% increases the volume twofold. This can be remedied by altering the volume on the computer itself and keeping the optional volume control at a set level.

Excellent speakers overall, and a great value for anyone looking for good surround sound for a reasonable price.

EZ Setup BAD Sound
Ok heres my boring story:
I got the top of the line computer and the "best" speakers aka boston speakers. I have had so many problems with the sound turning off for no reason, the speakers make weirdd noises from no where, and even though this system is easy to set up it is still hard to listen to those nice CDs of games without hearing a "slam" or a stop in the middle of a peacefull waterfall CD or in the middle of an online game of StarCraft. These Speakers are not the best i would go with another company not boston.

Good upgrade from basic computer speakers
This system is a good upgrade if you have basic desktop computer speakers. The satellites have a fairly wide dispersion pattern so you don't need to be confined to sitting in a certain location. The subwoofer is very punchy without being too boomy. It adds great impact to video games and music. However, the satellites sound rather dull; you need to boost the treble on your OS's control panel. Also, when playing strictly piano music, the satellites can vibrate noticeably at certain frequencies. Also, the volume control is rather odd, instead of being continuously variable, the volume seems to increase in increments and there is too great a gap from the lowest setting to when the control shuts off the whole system.

Great subwoofer + digital!!
This speaker system is great! I saw my roommate has one, so when I got my new computer, I ordered it alone. It produces loud, sharp digital sounds sent from my Sound Blaster Live!, and the subwoofer is awesome in spite of its size and weight. It rocks my room!! When watching DVDs with DTS, such as U-571, the high-pitched sound sounded just like it was in theater, even better. The only thing I don't like is its cords and their plugs. Slightly touch of the plugs makes speaker noises. And the cords are too short, too. But overall, it's a great system. You'll love it!!

Poor reliability
The speaker was fine while it worked. The circuitry just went out on mine, however, for the second time in just over a year of light use. I had it replaced the first time (at half of the cost of the original unit) and now plan to give up and buy something of higher quality. Quite a disappointment.

Subwoofer
In the 8 months I have had this subwoofer, the base has never been a good "thump". It seems there is more amp than there is speaker. In trying to get what I was looking for, the subwoofer went out. Now I am looking for a new speaker. I always had to keep the gain and the frequency turned down to half or less than half in order for the sound not to have a splat to it. I am now looking for something that will hold up better.

This is the same as HTA-1000
I bought the HTA-809 system ...recently and found that it gives decent performance for the price. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that a 100W subwoofer is included in the system....

Very Pleased - Good Clean Product
In the four months I've owned my KLH HTA-809 Home Theater system, it has proven to be an excellent improvement to my home electronics collection. The system arrived at my door well protected in its own special packaging, which wouldn't have been better designed even if the equipment had cost ten times more.

The individual components are also extremely clean...no ill-fitting pieces, bad edges, grilles that don't fit properly, etc. Again, all was found to be as good as one would expect of far costlier systems.

The instructions are a bit sparse and confusing, but the need to refer to them is quite minimal as hookup is straightforward. The factory packaging includes precut 24-gauge wire, and hanging brackets for the four twisty satellites.

I found prior reviewers of KLH subwoofers to be correct in their observation that the "Auto" power setting is not sensitve enough to be useful, unless you routinely listen to media at moderate sound levels and which has pronounced bass content. I just leave my subwoofer on all the time, though it could probably be plugged into the "Switched" outlet found on the backplane of many receivers.

Some other reviewers have also cited problems with complete failure of the subwoofer. These complaints have me looking over my shoulder a bit, though I can report that my own unit is functioning fine.

My KLH system is driven by a Sony STR-635 receiver. I have a Sony 32" Trinitron and a Toshiba 6-head Hi-Fi stereo VCR. The system is used in a 12x12 foot family room with standard 8 foot ceiling, though it will occasionally also be used in a 12x20 room with a 20 foot vaulted ceiling when I want to do "Theater" for a larger home audience. The KLH system is competent in this larger environment.

I typically listen to "dramatic" instrumental music (e.g. Jerry Read Smiths's hammered dulcimer) at moderate levels, and generally older videos such as Alfred Hitchcock. I have however tried the system with more recent material (The Bear, Paulie, letterbox Ben Hur, Sound of Music with THX) and the KLH system delivers a very impressive experience. I think readers who prefer modern action videos with advanced soundtracks, would also find the KLH package a worthwhile investment.

Last night I went to a neighbor's home, taking my copy of "Mrs. Miniver" (a British WWII movie) with me. I found the neighbor had a small Sony home theater package custom-installed in his family room. We started the video. On the neighbor's Sony system, my video didn't sound as good as I thought I remembered it to be.

After ten minutes, I talked the neighbor into coming to watch the remainder of that video on my system. My KLH speakers outperformed his Sony stuff without even breathing hard! The sound during the bombing scenes couldn't have been better if we'd been in a commercial theater.

I not only can recommend the HTA-809 to others as a quality investment, but I'm planning to take my own advice and buy a second KLH HTA-809 package for my own home!

I give four stars only because of the insensitive Auto power setting on the subwoofer.

Good for a budget
If you are wanting a surround system on a budget, I would recommend this system...it is packaged with a 100 watt sub. I have heard better with more expensive systems (the reason for 4 stars, not 5) but for the price, I have yet to hear a speaker system that has the same depth of sound and quality. If these speakers are in the price range you are looking, I believe you will be pleasantly surprised.

Logitech X620's
Ok so I have recently become obsessed with the world of surround sound audio. I have previously had Creative Inspire 4.1 speakers, then upgraded to Ozaki 5.1 Home Theatre. Of course, with only 25 Watt RMS total power they were hardly amazing.. So i was looking to upgrade again! I got some Logic 3 console soundstation speakers, and they didn't connect very well so i got a cash refund. So I headed to comet with the Intentions of buying a Creative Inspire T7700 set of 7.1 for £99.
Unfortunately they were sold out, so then I spotted these! I knew logitech were well recommended for sound, so I decided to take a plunge and buy some 6.1 speakers.
Well what can I say? Im not going to be too biased like some stupid reviwers on here lets start with the good points:
>Strong Subwoofer with 25W RMS output (Doubled due to patented technology) definately the best bass producer ive ever heard!
>Strong speakers, 8 Watts RMS per channel over 6 speakers! With 20 Watts in center channel!

>Headphone socket for private listening
>Source switcher - upmixes a 4.1 or 5.1 signal to 6.1
>Subwoofer Volume Control
>Sturdy Volume control - these speakers can go mighty loud, and volume control is progressive, but I dare not turn them up to the max!
>Speakers have their own stands, or can be rotated 180 degrees or attached to a wall via a screw
> Free console adaptor ensures these speakers can be easily used with xbox gamecube or ps2 right out of the box!
>These speakers ARE compatible with DVD players!
>Quickstart Manual and Warranty Card

So the good news is these produce a rock solid sound for a great price, better than Inspire 5.1's? Yes i would think so, definately better than my other two speaker sets anyway!

Sadly the bad points are, but to be fair i must state them:
>Subwoofer cannot be turned off and can be a hinderance as even on low volume it produces a tonne of bass
>Back speaker wires are particularly short!
>Needs a 6.1 Audigy to take full advantage.

So not being biased, honestly i have listed only two bad things i can see at this time. I really do like these speakers and am very pleased with them. The only concern is the amount of wires i have in my tiny room lol... these speakers are compatible with almost any home device and you are even given the adaptor to do it for free!
So if you're looking for a bargain way to step up from 5.1, grab these! I assure you the sound they produce is great, and isnt some thrown together budget model! the specs say for themselves:
70 WATT RMS Output
140 Watts Peak Output
These speakers rock, 5 stars!

Just as good as the Z-640's, but 1 more satellite, nice 6.1
I am writing a review because some want to know if these are good. Well I bought the Z-640 from amazon last summer and I had bought later a Audigy 2, 6.1 surround sound card. So I waited for 6.1 to come and X-620 came. However, amazon did not stock this, until just recently. Where I bought it already from somewhere else. But these speakers are awesome. Just like the Z-640, exactly the same output 70 watts, except 1 more satellite speaker to give you nice 6.1 surround sound. 3 speakers in the front and 3 speakers in the back give it a nice distribution of sound. Perfect configuration I think. 3 on 3, instead of 3 on 2. And the subwoofer I think got even louder and better. Defintely see a difference in the bass with X-620 over the Z-640. In end, if you liked the Z-640 you will defintely like the X-620, I know I do. So check out the reviews for Z-640, maybe that will help you more if mine didn't. Amazon is the best.

Terrible feedback, lo-fi sub
I bought this subwoofer based on the excellent reviews found online, but what a disappointment. This subwoofer sounded horrible from the first minute. The receiver that it was plugged into was a Sony STR-DA4ES.

DON'T BUY THIS SUB AT ANY PRICE.

It simply hums.
I bought this system to go with my JVC 400 watt surround. As soon as I connected it it began to hum. I thought maybe it was my JVC so I reconnected it to another RCA system I owned and it did the same thing. The sound is great at high volume but has the annoying hum at low volume and the sub drops out at low volume. I returned unit for a refund.

sw-10 is graet
I have a 17'x21 open living room to the kitchen and this sub works great in it. I had a klh 10 inch and It stopped working after I played an Iron maiden concert. This one rocks the house.

Not Great Stereo
Unlike most new Aiwa's I've seen or purchased, this particular stereo seemed to be way out of date. The buttons were hard to push, and the remote was almost useless. The sound was decent, but for the money, I wouldn't recommend buying this stereo.

A little disappointing
I didn't buy this from Amazon.com, but did get it as a gift last year. I was thrilled when I tore open the gift and saw I got an Aiwa boombox as I had bought other Aiwa products in the past and have been extremely satisfied with them. However, after I started playing this boombox, I was a bit disappointed with its limited volume output capacity as well with its volume output of recorded cassettes. But, overall, it serves its purpose and I can't complain otherwise.

Great Boombox
As a 13 year old, I feel that this is a really great boombox. I really like the appearance; it's attractive looking. The sound is really good. And the Q-sound (virtual surround sound) is a great feature in that it makes the music sound like it is all around you. The only thing I don't really like about it is that it has a rather flimsy CD lid. Other than that, I am very pleased with it.

BOSE 3-2-1 GS DVD Home Entertainment System - Silver
Made by Bose
    Amazon base price: $
    Average review score:

Bose- Overpriced, cheaply made testament to advertising.
Bose is a fascinating case study of what the power of advertising can do for a product that is cheaply made and outperformed by nearly all of its competition. Based on audio theories from the 1960's and parts of lower quality than what can be bought at Radio Shack, Bose has built an incredible empire out of poorly designed products.

Consumers should do their research before shelling out money for Bose speakers. A google search will bring you to epinions or audioreview websites where you can find review after review from buyers of Bose products.

The commonly accepted wisdom in audio circles is that Bose makes low audio quality products and sells them at very high prices. In other words those Polk, JBL, Wharfedale or Infinity mid-fi products you can find at Amazon are usually higher quality at much better price points.

Compare the sound if you ever get a chance. Make sure you DO NOT depend on volume, in other words volume is a bad indicater of quality. Listen for the high and low notes and to the clarity of the music. Tough to do in a showroom at Circuit City or Best Buy, but even there the differences will show up. Bose attempts to prevent consumers from doing this by segregating their products away from the competition.

After this you might look at online audio magazines (do a google search), Audioreview (one word) and Audiogon. You'll find whole NEW world of audio products such as PSB, Paradigm, Vandersteen, Quad, Sonus Faber, ACI and many more who's products will put you on a much higher level of audio than you'd ever imagine. Usually these speakers are SEVERAL times more electronically sophisticated than Bose at the same price! Good luck and happy hunting!

Quality sound that you would expect from Bose
It sounds good but understandably if you are looking for true surround sound it's not your answer. With this system you will get more of a high quality stereo effect. The trade off is it is easy to set-up. You will be enjoying your movies in about half an hour. This is easily accomplished because all the wires can be hidden behind the entertainment center.

    its worth the money
this small package packs a huge punch. the sound is great, its easy to use and simple to put together. in my opinion, it is well worth the money.
