I have had my wharfedale AT400 speakers for four days now and I'm still waiting for them to shine. Not that I'm disappointed with the speaker, but I did expect a little more bass than they were able to produce. I was going to go without a sub-woofer, but found that I had to purchase one anyway to help reach those deep bass sounds I expect from my surround sound system. I have an onkyo receiver and these speakers handle the power well and sound great at high volumes. The mid range is a little muddy which gives the speaker a somewhat smooth sound that would please the jazz lovers in the crowd. I would recommend these speakers for any one who wants decent sounding speakers for a good price.

I had this speaker for about a year and the bass management is great be it in Dolby digital, DTS or PCM Stereo. It's just a matter of adjustment from the Home Theater Receiver. I recommended this speaker to some and they were satisfied the way it performed especially when the dynamic range is already 40.
It is durable except the grill when it becomes loose it could be mistaken as sound of a distorted tweeter. Try it, it's worth the price.

I recently purchased the Atlantic 400 floorspeakers not expecting much based on the low price. These speakers are a great value. However I could only muster up four stars for two reasons. Reason one; I expected more bass from them than they can provide. Reason two; the removable grills aren't very well engineered, they are difficult to remove and are very flimsy,feels almost like they're going to break when trying to take them off. But all in all I challange you to find a better speaker for your money. I have owned several speakers over the last ten years, constantly looking for something better. I think these speakers will satisfy my taste for quality sound for years to come. I have added a JBL 250-watt 12inch powered sub to fulfill my need for bass. Don't misunderstand, these speakers provide tight accurate bass, but I like to "feel" my music a little bit more. Get yourself a pair, You'll be glad you did for the price! Remember we're talking about WARFEDALE speakers,GOOD STUFF!!

I purchased this set to replace a pair of KLH's 905b and that was being used as my main front speakers to my DTS system. I found the AudioSource to be very flat and more natural than the KLH's in the voice range. I plan to move the KLH's back to the front and use the AudioSource for the rear speakers. I found the AudioSource a bit to flat for my use. I like the sparkle on the highs that the KLH's gave, sinch the center speaker carries the main vocials. Other than the flat or natural or a better term dull sound and I am not sure I would use the AudioSource outsied, sinch the case is ported the weather could enter the speaker, unless used under an overhange.

Ok I bought this Jensen sub a few months back now, but as it is only an 8inch it wasnt quite enough bass for me. I needed to fix this problem. I though gee this is a power amp right, if i want more bass i need a bigger sub but could not afford these. So in order to fix this problem I had a 10inch Pyramid car subwoofer that i had picked up at london drugs for 30 bucks canadian and I had a sealed box laying around for that as well. I installed the 10 in the new box, I then removed the 8 inch from the jensen box took the wires off of the sub and then added more wire onto the lead to reach the 10 inch box and plugged it in bass had been doubled and then some. That still was not enough. I proceeded to go out and buy a 12inch bandpass car subwoofer box($100cdn)and then a Clarion SRW1243 12" SINGLE VOICE COIL SUBWOOFER($89cdn) WOW I can not beleive the sound from this!!!!!!!!!!!!! It performs the equivelent of any 800 to 1000 dollar powered woofer.

Yes, this sub does not have the best features or engineering when compared to JBL or Bose (for those of us in the mid-market range), however, for 50 bucks I couldn't be more happier. The 8 inch cone distorts at higher gain (when the dial in the back of the sub is set to "max"), so the frequency response when the volume is jacked up isn't great.

However, if the dial is kept in the middle, and when paired up with decent front speakers, this sub can really drill the LFE's. I almost crapped in my pants when i played Armageddon on DVD. I use a Yamaha receiver with Sony DVD player. I didn't feel like spending 200 bucks on an 8 inch driver, so i took a chance and I'm perfectly happy with the Jensen JS800. I know i can't overwork it or i'll blow the cone, but in an average size room paired with good speakers, this things is worth every penny. i purchased it form J&R for 50 bucks, free shipping and used Monster's 16 foot subwoofer cable to hook it up.

The black cabinet looks good, it doesn't take up a lot of space, and its amplified at 100 watts RMS. it was a great deal.

The CD player is pretty good, but the enclosed headphones were awefull. Sound breaks in and out, they also feel and are cheap. Replace the headphones and you're ok

GOOD because it's inexpensive (free shipping too) AND speakers do
a passable job when you're puttering around OR when you "need" it
to create white-noise to mask intimate sounds from snoopy persons
in adjoining rooms OR when you wish to listen to music/lessons at
work (where it is forbidden to plug personal equipment into their
precious wall sockets). Mind you, the speakers merely prompt your
imagination as to the true sound of the original work: they don't
provide high-fidelity reproduction of speeech, much less music...
NOT AS GOOD AS the "JWIN JX-CD775", which includes AM & FM radio.
The JWIN JX-CD775 (with digital AM/FM) costs more, so in case you
do not need a built-in radio, then by all means go for the CD-575
Since (as of 2004-03-27) Amazon has yet to carry the AM/FM/CD one
(do a search; you'll see), I will copy below for you TWO features

Footnote to the fence-sitters:
Should you have qualms about splurging on the jWIN brand quality,
do keep in mind that to get the equivalent in FEATURES from Sony,
Aiwa, Panasonic, Philips, and the other heavily advertised brands
you'd have to shell out more dough than for a schlock brand, such
as Coby, jWIN, and GPX. There is no way that you're going to hear
GOOD sound from shallow speakers that are built into a CD player.
Furthermore, regarding the "Lightweight Digital Stereo Headphone"
that is so graciously included with each model: you might as well
toss it into landfill or gift-wrap it for a lukewarm friend; that
accessory is torture. Better to simultaneously order Amazon.com's
ASIN: B00004TZJQ (which does NOT include free shipping). With the
Panasonic RPHC100 ("Noise Cancelling Headphones") you get quality
sound, extremely comfortable ear cushions (the padding SURROUNDS;
it does not COMPRESS the cartilage of the outer ear), and circuit
which somehow electronically cancels out undesirable frequencies.
Since this folding headphone is still bigger (and more expensive)
than the CD player itself, you might downgrade to a schlock model
that still does a satisfactory job, such as the ASIN: B00007E7L4.
Shipping costs nothing when you order enough merchandise together
to add up to the minimum, so the Coby CV190 is affordable (25% of
the cost of the Panasonic RP-HC100), and there is ear padding (ON
the ear, not AROUND the ear -- not as comfortable or effective) +

the useful noise-canceling feature (powered by one AAA battery, &
the folded size of the Coby is more compact than the Panasonic. I
realize that this info about headphones is useless to someone who
already HAS a decent set; I write about the Coby/Panasonic 'phone
for those shoppers who are about to be saddled with the jWIN one.
Even the name-brand products that include "free" headphones often
stick you with junk. Unless you are on Death Row and have used up
all your appeals, don't live with what these Pacific Rim products
bundle as headphones; you MUST replace garbage with quality. Bye.

Ussually I am very fond of KLH pieces, but this one has left a very bad taste in my mouth. Going from my other KLH set to this one is like going from candy to eating what the dog left behind. Well I guess they aren't that bad.

I don't know what the guy who wrote the review that said that this system is like dog regurgitation was on, but this is definately not a dog's projectile vomit. its bass is quite good if you are looking for a sweet system for your dorm, and its probably very good for some 15 years old who wants to show off for his friends. overall, this system is the living end for anyone who wants to add on to their current system.

The speakers built into my monitor produce a clearer sound. These crackle and the quality is poor.

I've just connected up and am listening to Handel BIG TIME! I'm no audiophile...I listen for the music, but this is great! And there's half a knob of bass unused. The highs are crisp and the bass solid. I cannot ask for more, and I'm hooked up analog! What must Digital be like? I may never find out.

I keep these in my computer bag for those days (1-2/week) that I am not in my primary office, where I have a decent pair of phones. First and foremost, they are extremely portable. The case is probably 3-4 inches in diameter, so they'll take up little space. The sound is decent. After 6-8 hours wearing them, though, and inserting/removing numerous times when moving about, the comfort level drops precipitously. Also, the cord is pretty short, so even pushing away from the desk can put you at the end of your tether. Still, for [X] or less, they are not much of an investment. I am searching reviews now for some 'phones that are going to be more comfortable. I can't imagine I'll find anything more portable.So, for infrequent use, these are fine. For more regular or prolonged use while on the road, I'm going to spend more and hopefully get something more comfortable.

These are decent for their size and price. People complain about lack of bass capabilities, but there are limits when you have a speaker that small. Good, i recomend them, the case is nice, bit time consuming to constently put in and take out, but alaround good.

The speakers sound great but the headphone jack (my primary reason for purchasing the system) hisses loudly at all volume levels. I'm returning them.

A 20 watt Labtec 3-speaker system has enough punch of Bass and clarity music from the satellites... Labtech speakers are one of the best I've heard. Well, then Imagine what a 70-Watts sytem specially designed for that xtra deep punch of incredible bass with 3D spatial effects will deliver to u. Also, unlike many other speakers, it has full volume and bass controls thats a very convenient feature. And, of course the headphone and microphone jacks thats a great feature of this. So, why wait?

I bough this sub about a month ago and I am fairly satisfied with its performance. It works will with my Home Theatre System and movies ound great with it. However it is a bit lacking if you like to listen ot bass-heavy music like rap or dance. A bit of 'boominess' sets in at frequencies below 70 Hz and the volume has to be quite low for it perform decently at under 40Hz. Overall Im fairly satisfied with my purchase but I do think this sub is a tad overpriced for the level of performance it gives. So be sure to shop around before you make a decision on buying this product

Over all, a very good sub, but keeping in mind its price tag, not a good value. It delivers good clean deep bass, expecially good at high volumes. It would definitely complete a high-end system. My problem is that for half the money, most people can get a sub that would fit nicely in a big room and deliver high-end quality sound. Not something to purchase without hearing first, but if the money is there, you will be happy.

I must say that I was very impressed with the low end extension of this subwoofer. Placement was relatively easy, and the instruction manual was detailed, yet concise. The bass is deep and tight, not muddy or boomy. I have listened with both music and movie/dvd sources and have been blown away by the chest thumping bass this thing puts out. I had done my research before buying this sub and feel that it is a bargain for the money. ... This sub has a great combination of deep, controlled bass and a great price. With this subwoofer you get what you pay for and more.
