The speakers worked great for maybe 2 weeks. Now they let out an annoying hum noise when turned on. Regardless of whether they're plugged into the computer or not.

I can't seem to find their website or get any kind of support whatsoever.

Be warned!

This is a pretty impressing set of speakers. Mainly because of their versitility, but the sound quality is hardly compromised. Because of the amazingly ingenious silver dongle switch that sits on your desktop, you don't have to touch the actual speakers for power and volume functions, which can be difficult and certainly inconvenient in some setups. Even if you don't have them in any particular position, though, they sound great.

I bought these for a 1.25 Ghz G4 PowerMac, hoping to find an inexpensive speaker solution. The sound from these guys is pretty decent, especially for the price. However, 2 annoying issues persist that have me sending them back. 1) When you turn the speakers on, a very loud pop comes flying out. Sounds like a mini-explosion. 2) There is a continous low level "hum" that is perfectly annoying, especially if no music is playing. I've done lots of testing and it has nothing to do with my computer or soundcard as both issues exist if the computer is turned off or even if the X-120's are in a completely different room and not plugged into any audio device. It's too bad, because the sound is otherwise pretty good. I'm returning these and buying JBL Creature II's instead. My foray into cheap speakers is over, hopefully the more expensive, and sheilded, JBL's will be better........we shall see....

I was surprised when I first connected these speakers and heard the amazing sound coming out of them. A great buy!

There are better choices than Monster, look into Kimber or Audioquest cables. For the same price, they are considerably better than Monster. Monster has the lion's share of low-end (read:zip-cord) and entry level hi-fi cables, because of great marketing. Go to any chain store (e.g. Best Buy) and you'll see Monster for sale.
Like most things in life, however, if you put a little effort into research you will find better choices, for similar prices. Make sure you buy from a place where you can return the item, however!
In my first real eye-opener as to cable differences, I switched from Monster to Audioquest 4's (.. no terminators, just bare wire)and my _wife_ noticed improved sound (she didn't know I'd changed anything).

Ever since I started building a home theatre, I have upgraded the speakers to try to improve the quality of the sound. While the speakers were getting better and better, the sound wasn't improving like I was hoping. After purchasing these speaker wires and the subwoofer cable, I can tell what a difference the cables make in the sound quality. Don't buy high price, high quality speakers without investing the extra money to buy quality speaker wire. If the sound signal isn't pristine when it gets to the speaker, the speaker won't produce pristine sound.

These satellite speakers look stylish and are small, and the subwoofer has good sound ouput, but that's where it ends. The satellite speakers have a flat, tinny sound. When someone sings an "S" sound, it comes out with a harsh-sounding hiss. Even at reduced price, I don't recommend these. I'm pretty disappointed, because I've had good experiences with Philips products in the past.

The two speakers are small, compact and stylish and have a great loud sound with clarity. The subwoofer is great and maintains a great balance of bass with the two speakers. I love philips products, and at this price for quality, it is a awesome "must buy" deal.

for less money and better sound i was able to get a subwoofer that shuts itself off after 11 mins of no music input. i read the instructions and dont see anything about auto shutoff... so
apparently this just runs 24/7 while im at work or leave for the weekend to my other house which HAS auto shutoff subwoofers..has sony ever heard of energystar?? otherwise it works well but for less money you can find one w/auto shutoff.
i use it in the bedroom and it provides adequate base..

There really not much to say about this sub, except it sounds good & works great with my system. Good Sound, Solid Bass.

First, I'm assuming my specific ve510+ was defective. Some pixels (little dots) were permanently blue. Other pixels never lit up at all. This problem persisted on two separate computers: one with a Radeon graphics card; the other with an nVidia. Certainly, the image was viewable. Only a few pixels seemed to be affected. Nevertheless, this funkiness bugged me. So, I returned the monitor.

Nevertheless, even ignoring my pixel problems, I am only giving the monitor three stars. Frankly, given the brand (and the price), I expected a higher quality image.

Certainly, the colors were good. However, the overall image did not appear to be a significant improvement over other 15" LCD displays costing considerably less than the ve510+. ...Actually, I thought the picture was a bit grainy -- but then, maybe I was influenced by the odd and/or missing pixels... :-)

Bottom line, the ve510+ appears is an acceptable monitor. If color is your primary criteria, it may be one of the best choices. However, I cannot recommend the overall picture quality. And, for those on a budget, I feel you can purchase a comparable unit at a significantly lower cost.

Before I begin my review, I need to explain to readers that I'm new on LCD Viewpanel user. My requirement for LCD Display was my CRT monitor would dying soon and a need of space.

Overall, this LCD is good, It's color is good.

Since I'm in Video Editing fields, the color is really important for me. If you're using it for video / graphics / desktop publishing, I can recommend this one. At first I'm a bit worried on color when using LCD, but, after take a look, the color is great, almost like CRT monitor. The LCD panel had Larger viewing angle (Larger Horizontal and Vertical view)

Other thing which make this product good is so thin (and smaller) compared with other LCDs (including other Viewsonic LCDs). My workspace is very-very limited, but when I remove the CRT monitor and changed to LCD, now I have a lot of space, larger space.

Unfortunately, this is why I only put 4 stars for this product, the built-in speaker is poor, not really good. The quality of the sound is just like hearing radio. I suggest you bought other speakers if audio is an important thing.

Other great things you can have from this, although I'm not using it, you can put this viewpanel on the wall, mounted on the wall. It already had place for screws in the base for attach to optional wall mount adapter.

When buying this unit (or other newer viewsonic monitors), you'll get Viewsonic color Wizard CD-ROM to calibrate your viewpanel. It helps a lot.

However, beware purchasing them from Amazon especially with the "in stock soon" qualification. I ordered similar speakers from Amazon and they never got them in (after months of insisting that they would be available soon.) I ended up getting these speakers for much less elsewhere and, while I'm very happy with them, I'd be very hesitant about buying them here without guaranteed delivery. Basically, the speakers are nice, but Amazon has some delivery issues regarding this brand. Do NOT get in line unless you're prepared to be disappointed.

I bought these to use with my ipod, I just couldn't see spending the $100-150 for the high end Altec Lansing and Creativ speaker units, especially given the fact that reviews seem to be love 'em or hate 'em for those models as well.
I quite like these speakers, the sound quality is good and reasonably full with Jazz, Classical or Rock music. True given the rather limited output, these would not be suitable for a display at a convention or a raging party, but they are perfect for a hotel room, (quiet) dorm or office. Yes, there are three wires (2 for the speakers the other from the music source (ipod, mp3)) but the advantage is that you can space the speakers farther apart then with other speakers I've seen. The unit does not come with a power adaptor but has an input for one which can be purchased on the manufacturer's website www.si-5.com. Otherwise it uses 4 AAA batteries.

These speakers are well designed, and give a good, but not great sound. Highs are bright and crisp but slightly wobbly, midrange is fine, and bass is present but somewhat weak. Sounds best at moderate volume.

One of the key things for me is portability, and here is where this system shines. The speaker/amp package is great for travel or just toting about town. To start with it is very light. The form is also also thoughtfully designed. The two speakers clip togeather to form a package slightly thicker than a standard CD jewel case. This also protects the papery speaker fabric. The tiny amp is sculpted so that it fits your hand, and the wires are plugged at poth ends and detachable. Be sure to have a clip or rubberband around to keep the wires together after you dissassemble.

I can't belive how inexpensive it is! You won't be sorry if you buy this, but even if by some odd chance you were - it's not much dough out of your pocket.

Just spent the last month checking the internet for portable speakers to take on vacation. I wanted something as small as possible, good sound and a modest price. When I first saw the price of the SI-5, I thought "They can't sound very good for that price but after reading all the reviews on amazon.com and a few other sites I decided to purchase these. If they turned out not so great sounding, I could return them and start my quest all over again. I bought them this past Saturday at BestBuy and hooked them up almost immediately to my Sony MD Walkman. All I can say is "What a surprise." I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for compactness, good sound and an incredibly great price in travel speakers. I only regret not waiting another day because Circuit City here had them on sale for $17.99 and I also had a $5.00 off coupon which would have brought the price down to $12.99. That would have been an even more incredible bargain for what you are getting for the little bit of money being spent.
