The product description sounds like an engineering success, but the speakers sound like a bad AM radio. Very little bass, tinny sound.

I was excited till the time I recieved them. The minute I saw the size of the box/packing they come in, I was extremely dissapointed.
Well then I had a thought before opening the box. "Big things come in small packages" or "Do not judge the book by its cover". Thinking that the quality would outperform the size.
I always have a good intution and this is one of the few times that they were reassured after plugging them into my sound card. I have a great sound card so I know that the bad sound is not from my sound card. The left speaker would just stop working every now and then.
They are cheap and built very cheap. I would rather invest my money and pay a little more $$ on a better set of speakers.

Got it with my Samsung 570V. 1.7W is good for nothing (unless added cosmetic value to your LCD). I combine it with my stereo system (70W speaker) as rear speakers. Turns out to be not too bad. When I watch DVD/play music, they act as the front speaker (treble & mid range.

Good for personal use in a dorm/apt where you can't play too loud either.

This item is what it states. A no thrills speaker stand. Well actually it is just two poles. This item does not come with the attachment screws for your speakers. You would have to go to Radio Schack for that. So if I am there buying screws why not just buy the whole thing there....

My suggestion to you is do not buy this, spend a little more and get a good stand..

These speaker stands are well constructed and attractive (in a very industrial kind of way.) However, their height is not adjustable. This is ok for front speakers, but you want rear surround speakers to be a bit above you. So they really don't work. You would mount rear speakers above you on the wall, but don't buy these for rear speakers. Also, Wharfedale appears to have difficulties getting their screws set up appropriately since it was a serious pain to get on of the stands attached to the base.

I received this as a gift and know the Grundig name typically as a quality product. The sound was so poor I decided there must be something wrong with the unit. I called the Grundig tech support and explained that I heard a very tinny sound with no bass at all. The tech without pause said "Thats typical with all of those units." He further continued to say "you'll get some bass response with the headphones but thats as good as it gets." I couldn't believe something with a $150 price tag was known to sound so bad. Do not waste your money on this product.

Unfortunately, my husband bought this piece of junk well before I'd had a chance to read any reviews. I think it's all been said before, but this CD player is a complete rip-off, and an expensive rip-off at that! We were wondering why we only got a couple hours out of a set of batteries, but apparently it's not just us; the problem is inherent in this poor excuse for a CD player. And if you still think you might like to buy one, you can have mine. I'm going to buy something that works.

I purchased this to wake up to a CD. It takes 40+ seconds to fill the buffer for the anti-shock system. During this time, the CD stutters. Extrememly annoying. You can shut the anti-shock system off, but only after it begins playing. By that time I'm awake and irritated.

Other than that, I like it.

We bought this system for our home. We bought it as an investment that we would have for years. Bose is supposed to be some of the best speakers on the market. We have Bose 601 speakers and they are awesome. This system sucks and I wouldn't recomend anyone spending $1,000 on this system. You should go to Wal-mart and buy the cheapest boom box they sale and get the same effect. Please concider what I am saying and try something else. We bought sony and it is much better. I am a former BOSE Acustimass 10 owner. When i got into Home theater, I was a newbie and pretty much bought into the marketing power of BOSE. They had the nice little Demonstration stands at Best Buy and at Fry's Electronics, they have the Soundroom that is tweaked to make the Bose sound incredible. Problem is, that room costs hundreds of thousands of dollars of technology to make the BOSE Accoutimass speakers sound that good. I don't have $$$,$$$.$$ to spend on a room. You need to see the EQ equiptment in that room.

Safe to say, I was slightly dissappointed then these speakers did not sound as good in my house as in the store. Still un-deterred, I figured it was my room (of course, it can't be as good as THAT sound room) and they still sound better then some other satellites speakers (though not by much) is why i justifying paying a much higher price.
Little unknown fact: These little cubes cost BOSE about $35.00 to make each double cube speaker. (5x35 = 175.00 plus probably 75 for the bassmodule = $250. This means on a $1000.00 system,the retailer and BOSE is pocketing $750.00 of your dollars)

The most important thing is, if you have a decent A/V Receiver, you should be able to select "Source Direct" which means the Reciever acts as a pass through, adding no EQ to the music, and just supplies power to the speakers. When playing anything in "Source Direct" mode, these BOSE speakers were the same as a cheap clock radio or the TV speakers. Actually, the TV speakers on my Sony Vega was better. Only if you use EQ, like Jazz Club, or Stereo or something like that did the speakers a little better. This is for music.
I am glad for 1 thing. I was not duped into getting a Bose Lifestyle system. My AVR and DVD separates are much better then the lifestyle box. I mean.. come on BOSE, can't you put a Progressive Scan DVD player in it?

For HT, the accoustimass is slightly better. since they do play squeakly noises good, you are able to get pretty good glass breaking sounds. This is because BOSE has almost no lower midrange sounds to speak of. This way, the sqeaky highs are of course going to sound more defined. The Bass module is way underpowered. You will never get the feel like a real subwoofer. Thats a little dissappointing with the movies and no "boom" effect during explosions. Almost everyone who keeps the AM system will get 1 or 2 subwoofers. (250 to 500 a piece). At that point, you are already almost in 1500.00 area. That puts you direct against some "reference" lines of Klipsch and Polk Audio.

Still, i was not so upset to return the system. I pretty much decided that all speaker systems sound good at the store, but will lose something at the house. It wasn't until recently when I started to learn more about speakers like Polk Audio and Klipsch did I realize what I was missing out on. I bought a new speaker system and sold this BOSE system on EBAY. I am happy that BOSE has good re-sell value due to their extensive marketing. I have a new klipsch system which forced me to re-listen to every music CD that I had to see what i have been missing all this time. Its truly incredible. I had to re-watch my movies on DVD and they all seem more alive and exciting. Much more like the theater. To say the least, if you only listen to BOSE or the stuff at Best Buy, you have little to compare with. The better audio stuff is only a few dollars more, are more flexible and deliver superior performance for the dollar. I guess BOSE will sound better then those cheap 200.00 systems, but only marginally better. I bought a cheap kenwood 206 system for my mother. It under $250.00 and it was very comparable to this Bose system for $999.99 and it came with a A/V Receiver!!! What are you paying for? I guess the rights to those 4 letters... B-O-S-E. For my money... BOSE is not much different from WOES.

I bought a pair of these speakers for my Jeep. I was excited about them because they seemed great - big magnets, high power, and so on. However, I put them in and they ended up sounding really tinny and unclear. I had 50 watts rms running to each speaker, and they handled that power well at first. They didn't distort (although they didn't sound clear and crisp at all), but very quickly the power blew the woofers. Now the tweeters make a little bit of tinny sound, but the woofers do nothing at all. I am very disappointed with these speakers. They do not sound like quality speakers in the least, although they do look pretty cool. Their power ratings are completely unrealistic, as they couldn't even begin to handle a quarter of the power that they are advertised. The company also has not responded to my emails to see if they will fix the speakers.

Because these stands were one of the more expensive sets at Best Buy, I thought they'd be fairly decent. However, they are ABSOLUTE garbage... the upper portions were not of matching diameter and did not install properly into the bases. I ended up cracking the plastic adjustment "bolt" on one stand. The one stand that was not "defective" would not stay at the proper height and the speaker would rotate too easily. The screws stripped the plastic pieces. The base is too light... it would take very little to knock the speaker stands over even without a speaker installed. Overall, because of the price and picture on the box, I thought these speaker stands would be a good buy; however, they turned out to be very flimsy and defective. Even if one of the stands was not defective, I still would not recommend them. I am no longer using these stands. Don't waste your money.

quality is poor and the warranty is only 90 days. you are throwing your money away.

Save your money, I've heard $20.00 pairs of speakers with better sound. They have no bass what so ever. It was like listening to music through two tin cans.
