A must have (well for me anyway)
If you purchase a 10D, I consider this as a "must have" accessory. The portait position auxillary button and data wheel are lifesavers when you're popping out a lot of shots. The dual battery slots make for what seems like an unending amount of battery life. I can honestly say that I've never run out of battery life on an assignment when starting with a full charge. In between assignments I can go a couple of weeks of occasional use before I need to charge up even if I use the LCD a lot. It does add a bit of weight to the camera and may be considered bulky to some but having used motor drives on my SLR film cameras for years, the feel is completely natural to me and I wouldn't leave home without it.

Some find it indispensable . . .
The Canon BG-ED3 battery grip is an accessory which depending on your shooting preferences, may provide features that are extremely useful. The device is compatible with Canon's D30, D60 and 10D model digital SLR cameras, and accommodates two BP-511 type batteries, providing power capacity for an extended period of time. BP-511 batteries are generally very long lasting, and having available the power of two batteries provides peace of mind for those who shoot for long hours, or frequently use the LCD display.

Very handy for some shooters is an auxiliary shutter button, located on the grip, and positioned to be used when the camera is held in the conventional vertical shooting position. The shutter button is activated by a recessed switch on the grip, and operates in a manner identical to the camera's shutter button.

Though it is relatively light, some may find the grip's additional weight objectionable. Others find the camera to be more balanced and easier to hold and handle, with the grip attached. Especially when a long or heavy lens is attached. Be advised that with the grip attached the space requirement in your camera bag or other carrying gear, will need to be increased a bit. Another "benefit" is purely esthetic, as some users feel the camera simply looks "better" with the grip attached. Secured primarily by a screw that threads into the tripod socket, the grip does have a tendency to loosen up with continued use, and just needs to be tightened occasionally.

With some other Canon camera systems, buying a battery pack grip could be justified for cost saving reasons. Using rechargeable batteries in the grip, eliminates the need to purchase non-rechargeable lithium batteries. Over time, one could save enough to pay for the cost of the grip. In this case, there is no such benefit, as these cameras only use rechargeable BP-511 type batteries. So unless the other features are useful to you, the BG-ED3 may not be a recommended purchase. It mainly depends on the kind of shooting you do, and perhaps the type of lenses you have.

Essential kit.
I have extremely large hands and simply cannot hand-hold a standard EOS 10D without the BG-ED3 battery grip. Without it, I cannot grip the camera with the little finger on my right hand, making the camera feel unbalanced. The front of the BG-ED3 grip rests neatly and comfortably in the heel of my left hand and provides support for the lower half of my right hand, making for very stable shooting in horizontal format. For vertical format shooting, Canon have neatly arranged the controls so that there is minimal difference in feel when shooting this way, again making steady shots much easier. It's ergonomically brilliant. The extra power provided by the second battery is really appreciated when you are shooting with flash. My battery grip lives on the camera and I will, like as not, never take it off. It's an essential piece of kit and I would not use an EOS 10D without it.

Works great + can use car adapter
It really does charge regular old cheapsky NiMH batteries in 30 minutes. Who needs the much more expensive 15 minute batteries?

Plus, the recharger unit connects to the AC adapter via a 12 volt power jack, so you can easily find a car adapter for it. I use the one from my rechargeable spotlite.

Not a sales pitch
Wow, who could miss that these other reviewers work for Energizer? Anyway, not me and I don't own stock. I did buy this recharger at Target, for my digital camera AAs. It works as advertized, so I would say I am satisfied. Fast is good. But I would be more satisfied if the price was $19.99 not $29.99. It is easy to pack, but a little heavy, I guess that's to be expected with the transformer and batteries themselves. Overall, recommended.

Four batteries, (almost) no waiting
If your digital camera uses 2 AA batteries, this is probably the best accessory you can buy.

After an initial break-in charge of 24 hours, these 1850mAh batteries are ready to power you through as many snapshots as your camera can take. With one pair in the charger and the other in your camera, you won't miss a shot or hold up the fun while you head off to the nearest convenience store for an overpriced stale battery. The charger handles any AA or AAA NiMH battery of any capacity including the newer 2100mAh cells, but be sure to charge similar sizes and capacities together. NiMH battery chargers are controlled by microprocessors, so all of the batteries have to be the same size and capacity for proper discharging, charging and post-charging maintenance.

The charger and its AC adapter will slip easily into your luggage when you go on a trip, supplying all the juice you need for all those pictures you're going to take. Both sets should easily get you through a day of shooting and when you come back to the hotel, a half-hour in the charger will have 'em ready to take on the night. These are batteries that can stay up late and still be ready for another day of all-day shooting.

NiMH batteries are also excellent for PDAs, MP3 players, handheld games and digital camcorders. With this 30-minute charger, no one will complain about having to wait all night for a fresh battery.

Great for electronic prototyping
I design and build electronic circuits for equipment and robots, and having plenty of batteries around for breadboarding and plugging into robots being tested is extremely handy. I've tried NiCad batteries and was not happy with their performance. I've used regular alkaline batteries, and although they offer the best performance, they're more expensive in the long run and worse yet, have to be dropped into a landfill or something when they're dead. I've used the Millenium charger for AA, AAA, and 9V batteries and I'm very satisfied with them, although when their charge drops off, it drops off fast. I use a pair of AAAs in my cordless headphones, and they last for weeks of regular use. I use AAs and 9Vs in my electronic prototyping work, and will soon be getting some Ds for my Maglite (flashlight).
The only concern I have with this battery system is that the charger doesn't seem to work properly with 9V batteries -- the LED never changes to green. Other than that, no complaints at all.

Excellent product.
What can I say? It does a great job and it was less expensive than the alternatives at the time I purchased it. Mine works absolutely great - no complaints at all. It is not one of those quicky chargers, but if you can wait a fe hours, it is the best choice (IMO). I have always been of the belief that a slower charge is better anyway.

I like it
Like most other reviewers, I find this to be a great little device and it certainly does what it is designed to do. 5 hours is a very workable time frame and then to be able to leave them there longer without fear of over-charging is great too. I only charge double-A's and have not tried doubling up on any batteries to do 8 at a time (see other reviews for the argument), but I would guess that even if it showed tht it was charging, it might not be wise to do, as it is not designed for such. I bought 2 so that I could do 8 batteries without worry. The unit is attractive too! Go for it.

The only rechargeable batteries that work.
I've tried others for my digital camera--but these hold their charge and continue to recharge many times over. I lost my original set and was forced to buy other brands a few times over because I couldn't find Kodak in retail stores. I won't waste any more money on other brands of rechargeables, they simply don't last.

50% cheaper at Kodak
Kodak makes great batteries, but you can find these 50% cheaper at Kodak.com..

Excellent batteries !
Finally, someone made REAL AAA rechargeable batteries.
You don't need nothing else.

DYNO-MITE
The best flashlight in the world. Almost too pretty to bang around the shop. All the pro's use them( police, fire,mt rescue etc)because these things are bullet proof and built to last. From it's self cleaning switch to it's on board bulb storage and rubber seals this thing is a work of art.Do yourself a favor and buy a Mag Instrument.

Now get out there and light up the night.

Fabulous flashlight in an indestructible case
I own four of these 2 D-Cell mag lights. There's one in each of my cars, and one on each floor of my home.

They are bright, focusable, and it always turns on without fail. No more shaking your flashlight to keep it lit! It's well weighted, so you won't get tired by carrying it, and dropping it won't break the lens or the case.

We also purchased an orange plastic cone that attaches to the front like many police officers have for directing traffic, which makes this flashlight perfect for walking at dusk or at night.

Highly recommended!

Flashlight perfection
Need a flashlight? Contemplating whether to buy the El Cheapo plastic flashlight, or the Mag? Get the Mag if you can afford it. After all, you get what you pay for, and with the Mag, you get the embodyment of flashlight perfection.

Just the weight of the Mag with batteries in it gives me a sense of satisfaction (for some reason). It is a heft bugger, but that's why it's so durable. The light is also crisp and powerful.

Need I say more?

Like the Energizer bunny
What else can I say? This is the best thing going as far as lights are concerned. The brightest two cell light on the planet. Plus, it looks so cool in your favorite color. Get it wet , no worry. Drop it, don't even give it a second thought.Pick it up and it's going to work. Is it possible to wear it out? By gosh I don't know. If they wear out it takes a good number of years. I've never been able to do it. Camping, working, emergency , you name it you need this light. As long as you have fresh batteries around , It's never going to let you down.

Mag-Lite Outshines the competition
Mag Instrument's lighting products are of high quality in all aspects of the products' construction and function. The body of the lights are strong and durable. The interior workings last for years without fatigue that is found in most other flashlights. Fatigue in the springs and contacts cause intermittent light and eventually failure. Not so with Mag products. The switch is high quality and durable and offers many years of dependable use. The relflector and beam adjustment feature work well together and offer a wide range of beam dispersal. Mag flashlights are worth every penny and will continue to function for many years.

Buy one flashlight for life
This is the last one you'll every need to buy. It is virtually indestrutible. mine fell on the street and got rolled over buy a dozen cars and trucks. When I went to fetch it, it still works. Amazing!

Mag lite is simply the best
Everyone knows that maglite makes the best flashlights in the world. Now, with the silver finish, it looks as good as it works. I recommend this to anyone who wants to look good and perform good.

Mag is the best......Indestructable
I have had this flashlight for a few years and would never buy anything else but a mag.

Mags take a beating and keep on ticking. I have dropped this on the concrete, pavement anything you could think of only a tiny scrach. It provides a very large light which you can adjust simply from the top for a more exact stream of light. I have yet to change the batteries(2 years) even though i use it constantly. The on/off switch has never failed or broke. Remember all the flashlights you have had when you have to keep hitting it every 10 seconds to get it to work? Not this one.

Great for working in the garage, anywhere outside or when the lights go out. If you want a real flashlight get a mag they are the best by FAR... Don't hesitate

None other
Pay a little more now, pay a lot later!

Good Battery Charger
This is a good recharging AA battery unit. I own both this one and the Kodak K2000 unit. ( AA battery usage in my household/business is rather common). This unit works just as fast as the Kodak unit, if not faster, and has most of the same features. But I like the Kodak unit better.

The storage space of the device is very important to me. I don't like carrying around dead weight that could be eliminated. The Olympus unit is compact, EXCEPT for the extension cord, it takes up more room than the unit itself. The Kodak K2000 is a wall mounted unit, that does not require a cord. It fits perfectly into my camera bag, without any hassle. I've never had a "loose" wall outlet attachment with the Kodak, if I did, I would tighen it by pinching the plug slightly together.

This Olympus system and the Kodak system both work very well. Both are compact, both recharge quickly. My preference is the Olympus at home, and the Kodak on the road.

High capacity, take-em-anywhere, fast charging
I'm glad I bought the batteries and charger for two major reasons

* The batteries are 1600mAh and therefore last longer than cheaper (but lower capacity) cells

* The charger runs on any voltage from 100-240V, so I can take it on overseas trips

I use these batteries in an Olympus E-10 camera, and they last all day -- over 100 pictures in one case. The recharger works just fine in Europe and the US, and there is no difference in recharging time.

Recharging takes a little over 3 hours from completely flat, and you can re-charge NiMH batteries from any state and not worry about memory effect (i.e. no need to completely discharge before recharging)

All in all, a great package of charger + batteries with the flexibility to take off to anywhere and not worry about voltage converters etc. Highly recommended.

Good little charger
I bought an Olympus camera and got this charger and battery set to go along with it. The batteries are the 1600 type. So far, I've used and charged them several times and it seems to work flawlessly. I'm lazy and use my digital camera with the monitor on all the time, so this was a must for me. What else can I say? Much better than spending a fortune on AA batteries.

Sony Infolithium Battery NP-F550
It is good idea to buy used but in case of batteries one should at least know how many hours it has been used,If one can get hardly used battery used once or twice,It will be a big saving.
I have bougt a new Camcorder DCR-TRV720E with a NP-F330 battery, with 4 inches screen I need more power of battery if i use my Camcorder throgh screen It can last only one hour, With NP-F550 it will work for two and half hours, if I use with view finder it can last for five hours, but i need more than that which I think will be NP-F960 if I get one with a special price it will be big saving.

Hours of use!!
Absolutely worth the money - I use this battery with my Sony Mavica FD92 and I can use it for hours at full charge. It takes maybe 3-5 hours to charge an empty battery... and with my flash on, and taking continuous shots for 2 hours straight the battery never goes empty! My camera runs at optimum level and my pictures come out great! No complaints.. definitely worth the $!

A smart purchase
It's a shame to have to buy another battery after buying the camera, but you won't regret spending the money. This battery lasts significantly longer than the F330 that typically comes with the Sony digital cameras. Buying this will also allow you to have two batteries on hand, the new one and the one packaged with the camera, and should be plenty of battery power for even above average use of the camera.

If you have a Mavica and don't have a camera bag already, I would recommend buying the ACC-MVC2 Starter Kit. It comes with the F550 battery, a carrying case, 3 floppies and a LCD cleaning cloth for around $80.

Belkin 650V Regulator Pro Gold USB with UPS Battery Backup Auto Voltage Regulation and Warranty

    Budget-minded protection
I was lucky enough to get a "like-new" 650V Regulator Pro for about fifty dollars less than retail, but it's well worth full price if you're looking for competant surge protection.

Those power bars that most Retail Computer stores try to sell you when you purchase a new computer will not protect your computer from lightning strikes or regulate "dirty power". Having a stand alone Surge Regulator is every bit as important as having an Anti Virus program these days.

In addition to the amount of protection you'll get from this particular protector, you'll also get about five minutes of battery power (the box says more, but the higher-end computer you have the more power it will consume and the less time the battery will give you), which has come in handy three times since I bought it in june.

Belkin lost a star because I had problems installing the included software package and have yet to resolve the problem (though I'm running Windows XP, which seems to have problems with everything). It will work without the software, but it's irritating to not be able to use the full capabilities of the product. Still, highly reccommended.

very dependible and tough as nails
-2003-The first UPS system I purchased was some [off] brand. When I set it up and turned on my PC, the instant I unplugged the cord, it lost it's charge. That wimpy system does not work on a game machine. At the time I thought nothing would, then I tried this. The most powerful model sold on this site(couldn't get it locally). I got a charge for a good fifteen minutes when I disconnected the AC. The Computer worked flawlessly and I even tried it in graphic intensive games like Quake III and Morrowind no stuttering or crashes, not one! When you have spent the money to get a powerfull PC, you should also spend it on a powerful(and dependable) Back up powersystem. I have a power hungery video card(PNY Geforce III Ti 500 at the time of testing) and Athlon along with a 17" monitor and USB hub hooked up to the battery. I also have a home and a towne where brownouts and power surges are commonplace. Even when my lights dim, my computer is still running strong(doesn't reboot) and the monitor shines bright.
    Get this system...-2003

    April 2004 update.

This unit is still going strong. I have had it since 2001 when I took a PC class at vo-tech speaking of the need for UPS backup on all PC's. I cannot believe the reliablity but it's there. I have done absolutely nothing to this unit as far a maintainence. It still has the original battery(which can be replaced via Belkin Customer service at five year end). As far as this unit is concerned it's battery health will probably out last my own ;} Why in heaven's name doesn't Amazon carry this item anymore. It's better than the garbage their peddling today.

    P. S. My current computer(it's a Falcon Mach V) makes my other one look like a wimp. Ole smokey here drinks up a lotto gas from my still chugging UPS.

    Belkin Beats APC
Never again will I use APC products to protect my electronics. In the first 6 months that I bought APC products 3 of the 5 batteries failed, APC's customer service was non-existent, the charge never held, and they did not do what they were rated for. I have had 2 of the Belkin 650 Gold for over a year and I am buying more, because they do what they say, their customer service is easy to reach (like I needed it), and they do hold their charge. This is just my opinion and experience, but if you really want to waste you time and money with APC, then to each their own.
