I'm a boy scout leader. I own a few of these. The thing about these is that everyone likes them so much that they always want to use them. I end up passing mine out and ending up with one less. I must be their best customer. I always end up buying replacements.

This is the perfect size for around the house or in the car (we bought about 4 of them to keep them in both places). We use rechargeable batteries (2 - C size) and they work great. The light is just the right amount to see what you need to see without being a big bulky flashlight. Solid too - will lsat forever I think.

A typical example of a "good ole" American quality product! If you don't lose it I am sure your Grandchild will still be using it!

so I must like them. They look more like power strips or simple surge suppressors, and they provide fairly good (about 7 mins running time for my CPU /w 19" monitor on) UPS at a reasonable price.

This is one of the most inexpensive and inobstrusive uninterruptable power supplies, but when there is a power outtage, it provides battery power only for a few minutes (and maybe not even that).

I found through several power outages in my building (versus just power fluctuations like in a thunderstorm) that if you have high wattage devices in the three UPS sockets (the 280C has six sockets - 3 UPS and the other 3 only surge protected) that supplied power may only be 15 seconds or less. I had a 21" monitor, my CPU, and a scanner in the three UPS sockets... the 280C would start beeping, warning of power outage... I would start shutting down and then suddenly everything switched off... no clean shut down. Since then I have only the CPU plugged in... no problems (I'm not worried about seeing what I am doing in a power outtage, I just want my machine up constantly since I often use it as a server).

4 stars only since the directions don't indicate that runtime is severely reduced when all three UPS sockets are in use.

I've got 3 of these units and swear by them. First, at my office -
everytime someone prints to the network laserwriter the power drops.
Since I've had my APC it gives the audible beep of the power drop and
kicks in so that my PC is not surged/fried everytime. The two at home
have performed flawlessly in all sorts of thunderstorm
conditions.

From a usability standpoint - this unit really addresses
the need for multiple line-outs. Three of the six are backup power
supplied to your critical electronics - the other three are normal
surge protected. However, the spacing for the mega-large resistors
from other peripherals actually: 1) fit in the 2 designated spaces
without rendering the adjacent outlets useless and 2) because of the
breadth and serious weight of the APC 280, the resistors stay
perpendicular - instead of pulling out eventually because of gravity.

The price is reasonable.

The Mag Instrument S2C016 Black Heavy-Duty 2 C-Cell Flashlight used to be my most used flashlight. Now a days, there is a lot going on with the technology of flashlights. LED, Lithium batteries, focus bezels, etc. The Maglight brand has fallen behind a bit technologically, but is still a great flashlight for minor emergencies NOT involving looking for criminals, terrorists or signalling for a chopper pick up. The Mag Instrument S2C016 Black Heavy-Duty 2 C-Cell Flashlight is perfect for a tool box or deep pocket. The product is very durable and they are proven reliable. Don't get me wrong. I've depended on Mag lites of all sizes for years. But head to head , the Surefire brands have quickly surpassed Mag lite in every important aspect of flashlights - usable light power, size, durability and weight. The Mag light brand just isn't keeping up with the new technology. And that's too bad for us who value product loyalty.
The Mag Instrument S2C016 Black Heavy-Duty 2 C-Cell Flashlight is STILL a good value and I have several in the house and the vehicles. But they're being replaced by Surefires as they wear out.

The 2 c-cell MagLight is durable and reliable. Being a pilot I use a flashlight for all night flights. For safety's sake I cannot afford to have a flashlight with a flimsy switch, cheap construction etc. Mag Instruments makes a great light period.

The 2 c-cell model is a bit large for the average kitchen drawer or auto glove compartment. But it works great for aviation and should be equally suited for boating, camping etc.

I have several D-cell Mag Lights and one AA-cell Mag light, but the former were too large and the latter too small to grab and run check on this or that when the need arose. The C-cell light is just the right size. I was pleased to see a History channel Egyptologist carrying the same one, a few months after I bought mine.

( WHEN USING THE FLASH - THE BATTERY LASTS 20 MIN )
I BOUGHT THE AAA ENERGIZER BATTERY'S 700 MA IN A ( 4 PACK )
WHICH ARE 1.2 VOLT ( ON THE PACKAGE ) I TESTED THE BATTERYS AFTER CHARGING ( 15 HR) AND ( ON THE MY METER WERE ALMOST 1.4 - 1.5 VOLT )

AND THE POWER IN THIS BATTERY IS GREAT .
AFTER CHARGING THEM FOR 15 HR. ( IN THE SPECIAL ENERGIZER CHARGER FOR NIMH 15 HR CHARGER ) WHICH WAS SOLD SEPARATE .
THE BATTERYS HOLD THERE CHARGE VERY WELL.
( 2 WEEKS AGO 1-15-02 I PURCHASED RAYOVAC NIMH ( 550 MA BATTERYS ) THEY DO NOT HOLD THERE CHARGE I BROUGHT THEM BACK )
IN MY OPINION THE ENERGIZER IS THE BEST BATTERY FOR MY MONEY BECAUSE IT 1) HOLDS A CHARGE A LONG TIME 2) AFTER CHARGING IT LASTS A LONG TIME 3) !!! LIFE TIME WARRANTY !!!)

BATTERYS ARE VERY IMPORTANT WHEN YOU ARE USING A DIGITAL CAMERA .
I WOULD NOT LEAVE MY HOUSE WITH OUT THESE BATTERYS IN MY CAMERA.

I bought these Engergizer AccuRechargeable NiMH batteries in the new packaging which says they are 700mAh capacity. That is the highest of all AAA NiMH that I've been able to find. All NiMH batteries discharge when not used in about 90 days. So far these power my Palm M100 for 45 days use the way I use them. This is comparable to the Duracell Ultra's that I was using.

I also have 4 of them in a small R/C car to power the motor. They run forever (>45 minutes) and when they are done a 1 hour recharge will get it moving again.

I charge them on a Rayovac 1 hour charger which charges each battery idependently until it's "full" and I think that this makes a big difference over other cheaper chargers that charge 2 cells at once and/or for a fixed amount of time.

If you need AAA size and want the best rechargeables you can get I'm convinced that these are probably those batteries. Get them and a Rayovac charger and you are set.

I have two sets of these and two sets of Rayovac AAA NiMH batteries and the Energizers are definitely longer lasting than the Rayovacs in this size (the reverse is true with AA size - Rayovacs have more juice). If you look at the specs, you will see why. The Energizers are 700 mAh of power, whereas the Rayovacs are only around 600 mAh. Not a bad buy for the price, but there may be brands of industrial and photographic NiMH batteries out there that will best these Energizers by a slight amount.

I usually can get about ten days of use (10-40 minutes per day) out of these in my Handspring Visor PDA before I start getting squeamish about battery levels and decide to swap in a fresh set. Energizers, like all other brands of NiMH batteries, tend to drain their charges fairly quickly when not in use, much more so than standard or alkaline batteries, so I would not blame these models more than the others in this category. With NiMH batteries, you are trading off poor long term life to obain excellent short term life and power.

It is a very durable, compact CD player with rechargable batteries so you don't need to keep getting new batteries. With a handy display for changing songs ect.

...I especially love the very long battery life time...I often have to wait for a month until I have to use the charger. This is what a call a long time.

The sound is also very good. The small cylinder remote control is quite fun to use too, with all the features of the player on it. I just couldn't believe how small the player was when I first saw it, but it has performed well beyond my expectations of it. I would recommend this one for anyone. It is quite pricy for some, but for me it was well worth it. The player also has two levels of Mega bass...Having proper hearphone makes a world of difference. The earphones enclosed aren't very good...

Here's what to know about this CD player from Sony:

-It's super compact. The player has almost the exact same diameter as an actual CD, and it's super thin. This is far and away the thinnest player that Sony makes, and the rival Panasonic model is roughly the same. It's very light too.
-Rechargeable batteries last. I was using this for my daily commute to and from work in NYC over the summer (about 45 minutes to an hour a day), but only had to recharge every two or three weeks. It seems like they never wear out.
-The thing just doesn't skip. I've shaken the thing furiously while playing a CD to test it and it keeps going. You really have to jar it hard for it to skip (as in hit it against something).
-Eye candy value. The designers at Sony did it again; this thing is about as svelt as they make CD players. Everytime my friends see it I get lots of oohs and ahhs.

The only things I would warn you about are:

-It's so thin that you can't put too much pressure against the top or the case will actually press against the CD and slow the disc down causing it to skip.
-The motor that moves the laser is actually kind of loud, so when you skip tracks or reach the end of the CD you can hear it from pretty far away (dunno if other people find this to be true). Otherwise it runs very silently.

If you have the money to spend, this is a great product. But it does sell at a premium. I bought mine in Japan.., so it's a bit pricier..[other places], but this model isn't easy to find elsewhere.

Energiser has been known to keep going and going and going... well, I bet they could design a battery that lasts longer than this...sure, it might outlast duracel, but I KNOW they can create a battery that lasts longer (jeez, in Eng-Phys we made a better battery!) but too the battery... on the market these days, this is the best you are gonna get... my one complaint would be that the "tester" should be designed better... the stars is just not enough of an accurate reading! I much prefer Duracel's tester to this one, at least you can gauge longevity!

I've done my own un-official testing of Energizer Vs. Duracel on MANY occassions; keeping track of the amount of play-time I could get out of each, while using them in portable Tape Players and C.D. Players over a period of approximately 10 Years. Without question, Energizer wins ........................ PLUS, THE LIL' BUNNY'S JUST PLAIN CUTE! (***My only complaint: I wish they'd make up their minds and CONSISTENTLY put the Testers on ALL of their Battery Sizes!).

These truly are an incredible feat of engineering. When my HP calculator ceased to function I was told I needed some new 'batteries' to get it to work again. Apparently the answers to all my compational questions are stored in these little guys, and I had used up all the answers from the set included with the calculator.

First I was enraged that I was tricked into buying into a subscription service to use my calculator, I can't just own it, no, I have to pay money every year to use it, and recharge the 'answer juice'. Truly a crock.

Then came fear as I wondered whether the new answers stored in the batteries would be as accurate as the ones before, just the daunting prospect of having to test all the possibilities and verify their results sent chills down my spine.

But I needed my answers! So I shelled out the money and bought myself four of these magical answer stores. Of course my calculator only needed three (yet another scam from the hotdog and hotdog bun people!), but so far all the answers I've been getting seem accurate, so I give these 5 stars.

My only complaint would be that they should be designed so that I can input answers into the batteries myself, so that I might recharge them without buying new ones. This seems like an obvious idea, and I suspect the 'powers that be' are just keeping that technology away so we keep sustaining them with the ridiculous subscription model.

This is a timed charger, but well matched to the supplied 2100mAh NiMH batteries. The manual recommends charging after a full discharge, so it may overcharge your partially depleted cell or an older cell with lower capacity. As long as you recharge a fully empty, ~2100mAh cell, it shall be fine.

The included cells, actually made by Sanyo-GE, are premium cells, and only surpassed by Sanyo's latest 2300mAh cells.

I ordered this product a week ago and it's still not have been shipped; despite the "ships in 24 hours" expression.

The other items in the same order were delivered days ago, but Sony Power Charger is still waiting for shipment...

This set includes 4 AA cells Made in Japan for Sony by Sanyo, as well as a timed charger, NOT a smart charger as its similar looking Sony variants.

The Sony Power Charger can recharge 4 AAA or AA cells at a time. Unlike the Panasonic BQ-390 which I also used and reviewed, this Sony uses a timer to stop charging. The Panasonic BQ-390 has advanced circuitry inside to monitor charging through temperature, voltage drop, and the cell's internal resistance, so that you'll get more precise charging and less damage from overcharging of simpler chargers. Sony also offers a similarly advanced product, but this model is a cheaper timed model. It charges the 2100mAH cells for 8 hours straight, or 800 mAh AAA cells for 7 hours straight. If you charge a partially used cell, it will not detect when the cell reaches full charge, and might overcharge. It's best to charge a fully depleted cell with timed chargers.

I bought this sharpener because we have a large collection of very thick color pencils which require the largest hole on this sharpener to sharpen. This sharpener works fine.

However, I was rather surprised by its large size. It is twice as tall as most of the electric sharpeners one sees in offices and homes, and it is wider and heavier.

I was the collegue of Bret Beckle who was frantically trying to finish sharpening pencils for testing. I had already froze/overheated two pencil sharpeners and only managed to finish about 10 pencils out of 30. The Boston School Pro finished the rest in no time and all. It is amazingly quiet and efficient. It is well worth the money, this is the best price around!!

Today we started our Standardized testing for our school. A fellow teacher was frantically trying to sharpen 30 pencils before class. Predictablly, after only a half-dozen or so pencils, her electric sharpener "overheated" and stopped working. My Boston Pro to the rescue! My Boston Pro took care of the remaining pencils in no time.
I had my class make contribuitons to the "Sharpener fund". Once the sherpener arrived I had each student who contributed sign the sharpener in perminate marker!
My was brand new. No dings or scratches! Be warned, other teachers will want one!

The BP-200 adds functionality to my Rebel 2000, but admittedly I'm a bit disappointed. It definately has a cheap feel to it. It does help with the balance on the camera and is egonomically better than the standard grip. I just wish it felt more substantial.

I recently purchased the Canon BP-200 and would like to say that it compliments the camera nicely. If you own a rebel eos 300 series, then you know how light the camera is (Too light that is!). The battery pack adds a good weight to steady those camera shots and for those with tripods, there is a hole for a mount on the bottom of the battery pack! Also, to avoid circuit discharge, common sense tells you that you don't leave batteries in any mechanism when not in use. Canon has reasssured me that under proper use, the product is guaranteed to work with the EOS rebel 300/2000 and will not cause any malfunction. Two thumbs up for this accesory!
