this clock-radio is evil!
Our toddler got hold of our Sony Dream Machine and dispatched the one essential dial that controls time/alarm setting, so for several months we've been depending on internal body alarms--with the usual resultant catastrophes. What's more, since "spring forward" daylight savings the clock has been an hour off. Ah, parenthood. Finally we got around to ordering this Panasonic. But once out of the box (yesterday) the myriad problems quickly began to announce themselves. First, the design interface of the buttons is cryptic at best. Enlarge the image above and you'll see what I mean. Various functions are attributed to the same buttons, and they're all so squeezed together that the text directionals are not entirely clear. There are TWO time-set controls. Why? After fiddling with the danged thing last night I finally had to consult the instructions to set the alarm. In other words, it was not clear and apparent how to do a routine adjustment to a bottom-of-the-line component. Gimme a break. Even after reading the instructions we had difficulty. Maybe this was a lemon--and maybe not. We couldn't figure out how to make the "fast" function work in setting the alarm, so it took a long time and much button-pressing. We never did get it right, in fact.

This clock-radio represents much of what's wrong with the modern world, in albeit simplified terms:

1. Apparently it was designed by a troupe of monkeys. Seriously, Panasonic should be embarrassed by the poor design of this product. If I owned Panasonic stock (I don't) I would be selling today.

2. Just like car stereos, in which the classic, time-tested volume control knob is somehow not good enough (so they had to replace with complicated multi-function push-button controls that cannot be operated by anyone aside from the driver who has painstakenly learned the "rules"), the designers/manufactures of this clock-radio have taken a simple concept that worked...and ruined it.

3. Marketers/advertisers bombard us with lies about how great this product is.

4. Consumers, like a bunch of sheep, take the abuse--insuring the cycle will be repeated again, and again, ad nauseum.

Forget it. We want out. We're sending the blasted thing back today. Thankfully Amazon will refund our purchase and we can try again. There must be someone out there who can manufacture a clock-radio that does the job it was intended to do.

More isn't always better
I got this as a replacement for my girlfriend. It has a lot of nice features, but (unfortunately) we're considering taking it back... The biggest problem is that the buttons are too small and too close together. The snooze, while bigger than the rest, is in a corner that can be hard to hit if the clock is not faced a certain direction. That's bearable, but the rest of the 5-6 buttons are tiny little circles all in a tight row. The off button is in the middle of the row and I have yet to hit it without pushing at least a few others in the process.

Similarily, the buttons to set the clock/alarm are positioned so that it is difficult to change the alarm time with one hand.

Finally, the "Tender Wake-Up System" is nice, but whenever I push snooze or off the volume goes up to full for a fraction of a second. Just long enough to really annoy me.

Overall the clock is just... annoying. We'll probably keep it and we'll probably get used to it, but I certainly wouldn't buy it again.

cool clock
.
I'm really happy with this little clock radio. It's an excellent value for the money. It looks great, works great, and sounds great. The glow is not too bright; it has a high and a low (I keep mine on low all the time). A note about the alarms: One is a radio alarm only and the other is a beeper alarm only. The radio alarm doesn't work if the power is out. The beeper alarm will work if the power is out. I thought that was odd. The unit does have a battery back-up.

I'm very pleased with this clock radio. I bought mine for $$$and not shipping cost on another website. Happy hunting!

Failed Twice
While I like the operation, the size, the shape, etc., I don't like the fact that I've replaced it twice. Unit A1 failed and I mailed it for warranty replacment. Being addicted, I ordered another right away; figuring that it's an electronic device and [things] happen. I figured wrong. Unit B1 has now failed in the same manner. Unit A1 was replaced promptly. I'm now using Unit A2, and have returned Unit B1 for replacment. But I have no confidence. I'm buying another, different, unit. Unit B2 and probably Unit A2 can be emergency backups.

Simple, compact, good microphone
If you believe in the 80/20 rule (80% of the work gets done by 20% of the functionality), then you'll go for this recorder. I could write a long list of the things it doesn't do. For example, it doesn't have message folders, no date/time stamp, no automated voice activitation, etc.

What it does do is provide one of the smallest, really useful notes recorders around. It really does slip in your pocket. It just seems to naturally fit in your hand for those quick notes of brilliance that hit you while driving down the road. It has high quality electret condensor microphone that seems to be very sensitive. Its tiny speaker is good for speech but doesn't have much volume. It comes with a good earphone. However, don't record with the earphone plugged in! It monitors what you say and there is a slight delay from the time you speak to the time you hear it in your earphone. It will drive you crazy!

This recorder is not for everyone. You really have to have a focus on its positive attributes, but if those are your hot buttons, you'll love it.

I bought it for what it it, and it is good at it!
As others have mentioned here, I bought this unit to record in digital format, to have a small unit, easy to use and high quality audio recording. It does all that very well. If you are looking for more features, this is not the unit for you, but if you want long battery life with high quality audio in a small package, this is for you.

    difficult to purchase
If I wanted to go looking for a local store that had these batteries in stock, I wouldn't be here, would I?

    This listing is useless.

    No Drain
This product worked super. I have been using it over and over again for 3 months now on my digital camera. I got an extra set to always have fresh batteries. Another brand that I will not mention gave me only a few charges before it went belly up. I believe it when they say it will give 1000 charges.

wrong battery for the Panasonic KX-TG1000N
In March 2002 I had to send this battery back for credit as this phone requires a two cell battery unit instead of this three cell unit which is too big to fit in the handpiece battery compartment. So far I have found no other source for the correct Panasonic battery except Panasonic.

    Also fits Uniden EXI8966
Bought this battery Jan. 2001, for my Uniden EXI8966. Works beautifully for over a year now. I believe several Radio Shack cordless phones with the handset look like this Uniden, are made by the same manufacturer so this battery should fit those phones as well.

    too much
I have found this on the intrnet for $39.95

Black and Decker Cordless Drill and Battery
While now dated and surpassed by newer models, the Univolt drill kit was the first cordless tool to demonstrate that this drill and battery could be a serious tool.

On a darkening afternoon, it was possible to screw down seven or eight 4x8 sheets of plywood to complete a roof deck, before the storm hit!

The Univolt battery lasts for a mornings work and generally recharges during lunch for the afternoon session.

While the product line has changed with the upgrade to the Yellow Dewalt line, the consumer level Black and Decker units, especially the new Firestorm models should be given serious attention by the homeowner, or professional needing a less expensive but very servicable tool.

I was putting these batteries into a tv controll and I dropped one and it fell into a pond by my house because for some odd reason I was outside, nearly 50 feet from my house. Well anyway, I picked it up and put it into the controler and now it doesnt work!!!! I am so mad!! Like this smiley!!!! >8(

    These tubular devices really ROCK
I just put 2 of these in a CD player and BOOM! the player began to work and music came through the headphones, just like that! Before I had these batteries, I couldn't figure out how to make the player work. I really recommend these batteries!

    According to MY experience...
I use a portable Discman about three hours every day, and so have to change batteries frequently. I've found that Duracell and Rayovac batteries have short life-spans, while Energizers last surprisingly a long time.

The Copper-Top Still Rocks to the Top!

According to my experience, Duracell AA batteries last the longest in all portable music devices.

Where's the mapping of battery to camcorder?
What good is an on-line store selling camcorder batteries if it doesn't list which camcorders the batteries will fit? Energizer obviously doesn't sell camcorders, so there's a necessary mapping of battery to camcorder and Sony for instance isn't going to list whic Energizer batteries support it's cameras.

    The best
This is one of the best batteries i have ever used. I recommend that you should buy it if you have the option. Will work for long time.

Not for single charge, long term use...
I bought 8 size D's for my boom box thinking it would be the answer to having to buy batteries every few camping trips. Wrong answer. I was able to play 2 1/2 CDs before my box was out of juice. Game over. I realize these batteries lose their charge quickly by sitting around, but these batteries were fresh off the charger when I left. I figured they'd at least last into the night, but they were finished before sundown. Don't believe anyone who says these are for high drain devices... I got fooled. Fool me once, shame on you. We can't get fooled again.

Ni-MH cells are great but pass these up.
While several manufactures make quality batteries these are simply C size or perhaps even Sub-C cells in a permanant adaptor. While several brands of AA cells are reaching capacity of 1600mA these D cells are approx 3 times as large and only have a rated capacity of 2200mA. It also is normal for Ni-MH batteries to loose charge while not being charged or used these seem to loose charge quite fast.

If your just getting started with rechargable batteries Ni-MH is best suited for smaller cells and high drain devices, while Ni-Cd still holds the C, D, and larger packs.

      D "AACU" batteries
Unlike NiCad batteries, I found these D batteries particularly long lasting for medium to heavy drain application such as electronic keyboards and flashlights. I have twelve batteries which I regularly recharge, without any concerns for their level of discharge. This is a great choice! FF
