No on/off switch?
I would not buy this product again. My unit emits a constant electronic hiss even when all controls are in the neutral position. As far as I can tell, there is--incredibly--no switch that disconnects battery power when the unit is not in use.

I have no idea what your talking about
Your recorder must have a fault mine doesn't make any sound at all and doesn't use any battery power when not listening or recording. That's what the red light is for.

Advantages:
One touch recording
Speed of tape switch
Clear voice thingy
Looks pretty cool

Disadvantages:
No voice activation

Impossible
To use the Elura 2 or 2 MC effectively you have to have the BP-422 or a third party battery. The standard battery is quite pathetic. If you have the big LCD screen open, you can literally see the battery life draining away as you shoot. Maybe 20 Min of life. Just sad.

Battery life is a joke!
Unless you have 5 of these batteries, you cannot even shoot a 60 minute tape. It is preposterous -- to have this battery as the standard for this video camera.

nice and compact
The whole reason for buying an Elura is it's SMALL. Same thing for this battery.

It runs the camera for about an 45 minutes. Am I taping the whole time? No. The camera uses energy when on whether taping or not, so it would be silly to ask Canon to predict how many actual minutes of tape will be shot.

I carry a spare in my pocket. (They're small, so it's no problem.)

garbage
after using for only a few times, the power supply burnt out.bought another power supply, burnt that out after unit got very hot.need to be a professor of engineering to figure out the led light system, very confusing..would not reccomend this is.... this is a totally crap product all the way...sakar sucks.....

Fast Charger.. But..
This unit charges batteries very fast (Hence the name Rapid Charger), It does make the batteries very hot during charging, I believe that it might damage the batteries in the long run, But so far it seems to work correctly, The provided 4 batteries are only 2000mAh (*New Updated*) which are worthless, My 4 year old Creative 1800mAh Batteries are better even after all these years of use.(You get the point?) The A/C adapter is good for only 120V AC, wish it had dual A/C selection switch for use in other countries, Car Charger adapter is added bonus, But that is rarely used. There are better products out there, But for the Price I think it does it's job okay.

FAST !
This charger is super fast. The batteries get hot, so you need to let them cool down a bit before use, but they seem to last as long as any other rechargeable I've used. Didgital cameras suck the power out of batteries. I have a Canon C-740, and I can easily take these newly charged batteries out hiking for a few hours and they will perform great. I use them every day, and I have had them for about 6 months. They don't seem to be charging any differently in all that time. I have an older Ricoh digital camera that eats the batteries much faster, but for my situation now, I find these to be a perfect fit.

There's a better alternative!
Try buying a Delkin RCR-V3 lithium-ion charger and battery. So far, I've taken about 40 pictures with my Coolpix 3200, many with flash, and I see no sign of low battery. Lithium-ion batteries do not have a "memory" and also keep a charge and will take more pictures. And, right now, it costs less than the Nikon battery and charger kit. One warning: Technically, if Nikon decides that the battery causes a problem with your camera, it would invalidate the warranty.

Worked perfectly for me
Unlike all other bad reviews, mine works perfectly.
when i bought the coolpix 3200 cam, it came with the charger and batteries.
I took more than 100 pictures with flash and didn't have to replace batteries.

WORTH THE MONEY!!!
I don't know what these other guys are talking about! I have had no problems with them. These batteries have lasted A LOT longer then regular AAs. They are definitely worth buying!

Charger stinks
I've had the very same problem as others. Obviously the Charger is crap.

absolute garbage product
As others have stated, this charger is a piece of garbage. I have a 10 year old cordless Skil that keeps working, and a 7 year old DeWalt that just don't stop. This is very expensive junk that is better to look at than use.

Drill is nice and works well. But, I have blown through 2 chargers now. Batteries keep working. P/C should realize that this is no better than generic and 10x the price! Do yourself a favor and don't buy another charger. Just buy a new drill but a DIFFERENT brand than Porter Cable! Obviously the company is going after profit RATHER than quality.

Another bad charger
I have owned my PC 14.4 1/2" hammer drill for nearly two years - while I do tote my drill around a fair bit, the charger has mostly lived on a shelf in the basement. With no inkling of a problem, it just quit. The drill is great, the batteries are above average, and the charger just plain stinks. (My DeWalt 12 volt of six years has gone through two pairs of batteries - and the charger keeps working.) Perhaps the "diagnotic" feature on this charger is a little too fragile.

    Don't Waste Your Money!
I purchased this cassette recorder because I wanted a small one with a full size tape. When I listened to the first recording that I made of a meeting, there was a constant hum or noise during the playback that clearly came from the recording mechanism. The recording feature is of such poor quality that I am surprised that this product is still on the market.

My advice to anyone considering this recorder is to look at another brand. I returned the one I bought for a refund because in my opinion, it was worthless.

    Tape recorder noise.
This compact recorder has jacks, controls and a counter. However, that's where the attractivness ends. the noise from the gears that drive the tape is picked-up by the built in microphone producing a very poor quality recording.

    hiss
I purchased this recorder to record voice only. I will use these tapes to record and listen to auto-suggestions during self-hypnosis. I found the machine easy to use but the noise recorded from, apparently, the machine itself is so distracting that it is not usable. In other words it self creates and records noise. During playback while I am speaking it is just barely acceptable. During pauses in speaking it is noisy and distracting to the point of irritation. I would have been willing to pay more for a recorder for this use but it was the only one available at the store I was in. Now I am searching for a machine with better quality audio. In the future I am sure I will switch to digital but tape is most functional for me at this point in time...

    Not for Israel
I was going to buy this to power a Sony SW radio I have as I try to spend a month in Israel every year. The Sony weighs a bit and I would have been very sorry to take an adapter with me that did not work. Thanks for the advice.

    Not for Creative Nomad!!!
I bought this charger for use with the Creative Nomad NX MP3 player, after seeing it was recommended in the amazon site for use with the Nomad.
Well... it seems that someone didn't even care to check if the technical specifications are correct!! after recieving it I discovered that it does not fit the specifications for the player (Creative engineers did not understand why amazon was recommending to buy this adaptor with the Nomad!!) and that the reversed polarity does not enable it to be a true "international" adapter. I only found reversed polarity in the US so the adaptor does not fit into any other socket or adaptor for European sockets!!!!
I am quite angry that no one cared to check if the specifications correlate with the Nomad before recommending to buy it.
So to sum up - don't get it. you will be throwing away your money.

    about to buy it
This is the accessory AC Power supply that SONY (www.sonystyle.com) lists for its ICF M410V radio, which I have and like. The voltage is the same as the three AA batteries that radio uses. I assume that the polarity will be correct. It is not correct to assume that an adapter of appropriate voltage will work with other manufacturers' products; polarity/plug size likely will be incorrect. (How else to ensure incompatibility and force us to buy more stuff?) I have the 9-volt version of this adapter (came with Sony portable speakers). It works great, and I especially like that the blades of the plug fold in for packing (like Apple computer, Ipod adapters). All of them should do this.

      Lemonade anyone?
This unit just died on me within three months. The charger works (I bought it separately) but I cannot hotsync anymore - what's the point of having a iPAQ that does not sync? It's either the connector to the cradle or the connector to the base of the handheld that's not connecting. For the high $$$ that I had to pay for this flimsy product, it's really a pity that HP will not provide a good product. It's poor design makes the iPAQ rock back and forth without a firm connection.

      cradle for 1910
I gave this one star bcs it does NOT charge your unit, as one would expect. This cradle is just a display holder.

To charge your unit, there are four ways:

      1. Buy a charging cradle, which is an extra cost (no universal one to fit several PDAs, just one for the 1910, according to hp tech support; I couldn't get an answer as to whether an other hp PDA would also fit the 1910 but I think I read this somewhere on a customer review site). This is the most expensive option.

      2. Use the sync cable. Run it btw the USB port on your desktop and the USB port on the unit, hooking tog. as tho you are going to sync. This is the easiest option.
      3. Get your cell phone A/C adaptor. Plug into the wall. Plug the male part of the A/C adaptor into hp's 1910 adaptor and plug the other end of hp's 1910 adaptor into the USB of your desktop. This requires purchase of the 1910 adaptor. Amazon has it for $.... $... elsewhere.
      4. Buy a 2nd battery.

Some people buy two charging cradles (one for home, one for work) and others just carry around the sync cable.

      mb

      What is promised
The cradle is a good buy, it holds the iPaq upright while charging and synch'ing it. It is true that the plug is not included but me advice is to get a travel plug from eBay and use the original with this unit. It works great, no problems. By the way, the cradle on eBay is going for [$$]so this is actually cheaper.

        Poor Value for Money
Short service life. Mine only lasted 13 months. Battery capacity suddenly dropped from 4-6 hours to 10 minutes. All tech support said was "It has reached its end of life and may have to be replaced". Pretty disappointing, given that it cost over US$400.

Product no good, worst customer service, EVER
Well, I bought the PowerPad 160 (not cheap, those things are like $400) last fall. Last month the thing went dead. It would not charge at all. So I called customer service, and was told that they'll give me an exchange after I send in the proof of purchase. By the way, customer service over there = 1 person (Michael). So I did, and nothing happened for days. Called back, apparently whoever received the proof of purchase never informed customer service. Finally, their RMA department (possibly the same person), according to Michael, gave the exchange approval and told me RMA number is on the way. So I wait for another week...nothing. Called back, apparently there's another communication breakdown. No one bothered to call or email the RMA number and instruction. By the way, they don't ever return your calls. So leaving messages is pointless, you'll just have to keep calling. So I got the instruction over the phone, and was told that they will ship out a brand new replacement unit the day after the old unit is received. So I overnighted my old unit. Almost another week went by, nothing came. So I called again for the tracking number. This guy told me: "I got your message and was about to call you. But I can't read the tracking number I wrote down so let me look it up." A few minutes later, he came back and said "I can't find the tracking number, it hasn't been entered into the system" (hmmm....interesting, Michael, I though you just wrote it down and was about to call me)..."however, we did sent out your replacement unit on Thursday and you should receive it today or tomorrow." So I thought I'd finally get the new powerpad. So the next morning, while waiting anxiously for the UPS delivery, I get a call from electrovaya. Someone from electrovaya had just informed me that they received the unit I sent, it is unrepairable and since I've had it for 7 months so it exceeded the 6 month warranty, there's nothing they can do but to safely dispose it. Wait a minute; I said, for the last 3 weeks, I've been told a new unit was on the way! So the woman goes talk to Michael (customer service department). 10 minutes later, I find out that nothing was shipped out, he made up the whole thing about the exchange approval, they make a bad product that breaks as soon as warranty is up, nobody talks to each other, nobody knows what's going on, they need to improve internal communication, and oh yeah, you just wasted a bunch of money. Hey, electrovaya, there's this thing Alexander Gram Bell invented in 1875 called the telephone, use it! So I hope the $400 some dollars was a nice bonus for some proud electrovaya employee and made his kids happy over last Christmas. Or use it to cover overhead used to fire the customer service department. In conclusion, their product is crap, people I've dealt with over there are clueless and dishonest. If you are looking for an external batter, check out Valence at http://www.valence.com, a US company with a cheaper, and mostly likely, better product.

Very good product, slightly flawed manufacturing
I have been using the EV120 now for several months with a Compaq laptop. The battery works as advertised. It fits easily in my case and provides a minimum of eight hours (If I'm watching DVD's) and up to twelve hours for normal usage.
The only gripe I do have is that it doesn't seem to be built to the highest standards. The glue at the joints is uneven and the unit itself doesn't seem to be particularly robust.
The bottom line is that, if you need to use your laptop for extended periods away from power outlets then this is a good product and definitely worth the money, but take care to not handle it too roughly as I doubt it will hold up.
