Avoid this product.
When I first got them, I thought that maybe my minidisc player was defective. Now, I know better. Don't buy this, unless you want to throw away your money.

IT'S GREAT!!
The mini disc can hold more songs then the cd's of today and it can hold more if you store two songs on one track, I know one thing..you don't have to worry about cleaning the disc. I use the mini disc a lot, It's great for downloading music on web (Mp3 etc.) or just recording music that you already have. It's a great buy!!

Excellent Recordable Media
These blank minidiscs are the best recordable media i have found they give excellent sound quality even after the hundreds of times I have recorded over the and there resistance to extreme temperatures is excellent in case you leave a minidisc in your car which i have done previously and lost alot of minidiscs from.

I Need Music
After purchasing 100 of these CD-Rs they are not good for my purpose. I now find that there are different kinds of CD-Rs out there, be sure you pick the right one.

Worth the purchase
I've gone through 3/4 of the 100 CDs and haven't had a problem yet.

I mainly use them for data CDs so I can't really comment on the audio part. They've worked great for me and I'm currently buying another pack.

Greate product
I've been using these CD-Rs for storing data and create music CDs. So far I've used more than 10 disks and never had a problem. This is really a good quality product.

    Beware this media!
Like lunor, I got a spindle of defective TDK 16x CDR media. The writes fail at approximately the same place on each blank CDR.

I don't think I'll be buying TDK in the future, although it *used* to be my favorite brand!

Be Careful! These CD-R could be Ritek's CD-R!
TDK used to be my favorite CD-Rs. They were used to be made in USA, now they are being produced in Taiwan. I bought TDK CD-R spindle from Amazon a couple of times, and I have 100% failure with all the TDK CD-Rs I bought from Amazon! ...
A quote from [another] website ...:

By selling RiTEK made CD-R's TDK has seriously damaged their credibility of selling quality CD-R media, as stores don't know the difference between these CD-R's and just sell them for one price. Usually this price is higher than the regular RiTEK made CD-R's. So check the package before buying TDK CD-R's!

    "All Speeds" means just that...
I recently purchased a new high speed CDrw drive capable of burning CDR disks at 20x. Needless to say I needed to find a CDR media that could keep up. This TDK "All Speeds" CDR media truly lives up to it's name. I also own some very high end audio equipment, and the audio quality of this TDK media is excellent. So good in fact I've switched over to using it exclusively. If you need a CDR media that can keep up with the latest 20x burning speeds and if sound quality is extremely important to you, then this is the CDR media for you! Highly recommended...

I wouldn't recommend Iomega Zip Drive
I have used Iomega Zip since the early days of parallel Zip 100. As an IT Professional, I need my portable storage to be fast, convenient and 100% reliable. Unfortunately, the USB Zip 250 and 750 drives I possess are none of these things! The disks corrupt often and catastrophically - it is really frustrating, as the potential flexibility and convenience of this format is great.

Go the CD-R or CD-RW route, or even better, use something solid-state, but don't buy this product.

Better and faster than floppies, but recommend USB Drives
I've use zip disks for about a year now. Have to admit that at least i haven't had to worry about scratching them up like CDs but they're not all that dependable when transferring from computer to computer. The only reason i really used them was because I had to for my multimedia class in college. They only equipt a few of their computers with CD Burners and most have Zip Drives. Out of the 5 zip disks i used, 2 of them had problems which have caused me to spend extra time redoing corrupt files for class. While they work pretty well if u want to be able to carry some files around with you in your pocket or just toss it in your backpack, i dont recommend using zips to transfer your work between many computers such as for computer labs. USB ThumbDrives for me. They are solid state, fast, and dont corrupt as easily if at all.

    Great stuff!
Though I hear people complaining that Zip disks are corruptable and break easily, I've never had a problem with them. I'm a student and I've used Zip disks since high school and never once have they gone bad on me. I've used them to store simple Word files to large computer-generated images and I find them a convieniant way to store big amounts information you don't want eating up valuable space on your hard drive. CDs may be cheaper to buy, but with a CD-R once you put information on, you can't edit what's on the disk, and CD-RWs are a tad bit more expensive, plus CDs scratch more easily and one bad drop onto a kitchen floor can crack them if you're not careful. I think ZIP disks are the best way to go.

      These disks really do STINK!!!!!
I bought 1 40 pack of these disks so that I could create a set of Windows 95 setup disks. They worked to install windows once and then they all started dying. I went to run Windows setup and got halfway through and got a "cannot read from device" error. After that I ran scandisk on all of them and only 1 disk didnt have bad sectors. A few of the disks had bad sectors in the system area rendering them unformattable. I advise anybody who reads this to steer clear of these cute little disks unless you want to use them as christmas ornaments.

These cute little disks STINK! (for a lack of a better word)
TWO times have I lost precious information while using the cute colored disks!! I recommend not buying these disks and going with perhaps 3M.

And thank you Memorex for wasting my time and money!

First review and had to be a negative one, SORRY
I dont write reviews, well this is my first one....
well I bought tthis Memorex 80 Minute/700 MB 52X CD-R Discs (100-Pack Spindle), in January and I was so happy because i thought it was a great deal.... but I WAS WRONG, I dont burn cds daily, so the time passed, and I noticed that when I was burning any king of data in this cd-rs I noticed that they had file errors... so far I have thrown away like 20 cd-rs because they are not good backup copies, I have like 60 blank cd-rs and Im gonna throw them away....THE WORST THING ABOUT THIS IS THAT I CANT GET MY MONEY BACK.

      Thank you

      Solid performance with great value!
Before I start, I would like to remind people that compatability problems still exist with CDRW burners. Some media brands will just work better on certain hardware/burners. On reviews like these, it's best to state your burner as well so readers will have an idea of what media matches best with what hardware/burner. I would also like to remind people that compatability problems exists between CDRs and late model CD players - wether on a boombox or on your car's player.

Ok now onto my review... I have a LiteOn CDRW 40x burner (on my old PC), Teac DVD+/CDRW combo burner and an LG-Hitachi 48x CDRW burner. Memorex media works flawlessly on all these burners! Music CDs that I made plays perfectly on all my components - 5-disc Sony caroussel from the early 90s, my DVD player from 2000 and the rest of my CD players in the house and not to mention my car's CD player. No problems at all.

The only problem I encountered was when I made VCDs using these disc. They "sometimes" wouldn't work on my Panasonic DVD/VCD player (year 2000). They would give me playback problems such as pixelation and audio skipping! But when using another brand, such as TDK or Fuji, I don't get these playback problems. The Memorex VCD would work on my dirt-cheat Apex though. Further, establishing the idea that media do have compatability problems.

Considering my hardware, the brands that gave me no problems at all were: TDK, Fuji and Maxell - they just work flawlessly on whatever I throw at them. I would put the Memorex up there with the other brands but they seem to be only good when it comes to music and data but now much on video projects. But since most people use their CDRs for music and data anyway, these CDRs are still a great buy in my opinion! I currently have TDKs and Memorexs.

Excellent product, used over 400 over the years....
Memorex cd-r's are one of the best cd-r's on the market.

I've been using them for the past 6 years or so and I've recorded around 400+ cd-r's over the years and probably have only had maybe a dozen bad cd's.

Usually when you have a bad cd-r it is because I've gotten in such a hurry that I forget to turn off the screensaver that could cause problems in the recording of the cd (user mistake, not the cd-r). lol.

Advice for users that aren't too familar with recording cd-r's, try not to leave your screen saver on while recording, also try not to be doing other things on the computer at the same time as you are recording cd's. This will help ensure that your cd-r will record perfect 100% of the time.

Very poor with stand alone CD recorder
I have a Mazantz 631 professional CD recorder embedded in my A/V system. I purchased a 30 pack of these Merorex "white label" 700MB disks. The first 5 out of the box would not record: OPC error. They cost $0.66 a piece. In this case, you get what you pay for.

        Slow, slow, slow
These are terrible CDRs. It says multi speed, max 40x, but when I burned them on my 20x, it only lets me burn at 12x for no reason, and my burner never has any problem burning CDRs. Then I used another burner at 16x, took almost 8 minutes for a 700mb CD. I mean, this is just not right! The only good thing is burning at such low speed so those CDs are more reliable with no picking problems. Get Imation! It's much better!!

        Not For Computers
These CDs are are manufactured for stand-alone CD Recorders not for CD "burners" in computers. The stand-alone units will not accept computer discs, but computers will accept both. The CD-R Music (or audio) cost more because they are taxed by the RIAA to compensate artists for piracy. Computer discs do not have that tax, and are therefore cheaper. The quality of the discs differs from brand to brand, and results vary from brand to brand and CD Player to CD Player. I would not buy these CDs for a computer burner, it's not as cost effective as other CDs for computers. I do, however, reccomend the Memorex CD-Rs with the white labels over other brands. These seem to have fewer problems in car CD players and older cd players.

        coasters, coasters, coasters
Using these on an iMac equipped with 4x Superdrive so far has burned coasters half the time (3 out of 6), either using the built-in disc burner features of MacOS X or using Toast Titanium 5.2. The coasters actually look discolored or cloudy, like something happened to the plastic of the DVD in the burning process.

Also, the discs are not labelled with their speed -- they burn only at 1x so even when they do burn successfully it is incredibly slow.

I would give 1 star but the cases are very nice.

Absolutely No Problem Using This DVD-RAM
I have owned the Panasonic DMR-E20S DVD Recorder/Player
        since November of 2001.

I bought 20 Panasonic Disks (at about twice the price) and 30
of the Memorex. Apart from having to format the Memorex before
using it (about 1 minute each side on the machine), there seems
to be no difference in the quality.

However, since I only have the one machine,
I have no way of knowing how readable the disks would be on Computer DVD-RAMs and other Recorder/Players.

Also, Memorex makes an affordable DVD-R (#3202-5510) which can be recorded on the Panasonic Machine (only once).
They work on any DVD player that can play a DVD-R (such as my Sony Portable).

        Disappointed
A great product, but disappointed Office Depot do not ship outside of US. The licensed bandits here in Saudi Arabia charge 40 Riyals ($...) a piece for DVD-R and I was getting set to buy a bundle from you guys. Looks like I will have to shop elsewhere.

Trouble using them to burn large VCD files
I'm having the same problem that another review indicated, when burning large mpeg's (larger than 659 MB) i'm getting consistent data redundancy check errors.

          Questionable Quality
I put large video files on them. About 1 in 5 discs fail after
burning sucessfully. That is, when I go to access the file on the disc later, I get a cyclic redundancy error. This occurrs on both of my computers, both of my burners. So... I'm pretty sure it's a problem with these disks -- just being very easily damaged.

          Very good product
