Cheap, low quality
These are cheap, low quality CDRs. My car stereo has a hard time playing music burned to these discs.

Leap of Faith
I bought a 50 pack but I haven't tried them yet. After reading the 2 bad reviews written before me, I decided that Imation CD-R's are unreliable. However, since there are also a couple of positive reviews on the media, I opted to go ahead and try these babies out. Meanwhile, I have tentatively awarded the product 3 stars. Here goes my leap of faith...

imation works great
I've used two 100-packs of imation CD-Rs over the last couple of years and have had no problems. The burned CDs have played fine in my Car CD player as well as my home CD-changer and DVD player. I've burned data CDs, audio CDs and Video CDs with no difficulties at all. For those interested, I have a Sony CD burner and use NERO to burn all of my CDs.

Horrible!
These CDs are pretty slow to burn, but thats not a huge problem for me, until I played one for about 5 times the coating began to warp and come off. Come on! The rest began to do the same thing too! Don't buy these, unless they are going to be a one time use sort of thing, and you don't mind having a slow burn rate.

worst c.d.r.!s ever
Don!t buy. The worst c.d.r.!s ever. Has an extremely low burn rate. Most of them I had to throw away. Don!t waste you money.

large failure rate DON'T BUY..
Out of 50, I was able to burn six CD'S, an 88% failure rate.

    Not backward compatible.
These discs cannot be formatted by my 8x Dell (Sony) CD_RW drive. I bought thirty and had to return them all. The manufacturer claims "backward compatibility" but they misspeak.

    Works fine.
I bought the 10-pack and they all seem to work fine. The jewel cases don't shut very well.

dirt cheap and works like a charm
i have a plextor 12x-10x-32x and all the discs work at 10x rewrite. I will stock more the next time I order something from amazon.

    Memorex CDRW Discs
I had a problem with these discs after purchasing at Staples.

Because I am new to CD-R/CD-RW recording I thought it was all
ME, even though, initially my computer integrator gave me
Verbatim CD-RW discs which were great, and, no problem.

In searching for other matters on CD related internet newsgroups
I found I was not alone....regardless of software or hardware used in connection with these discs, there was no one who found favor with them and returned the discs to the retail store for credit or just dumped them rather than be bothered.
There was a consistency with bad reports on Memorex and no
others I found after searching more than 30,000 postings.
This can be verified by going to Google.com - newsgroup search
    and typing in Memorex

    defective disks
Of the five disks that I have tryed to formate 3 were defective. This may have just been a bad batch, but on the basis of this experince I can only say I found the product to be a disapointment.

    Forget the jewel cases
I ordered two packages of these on different occasions. From a functional standpoint, they work great with Nero's InCD. The problem is that both times, every jewel case in the package was cracked. Not a big deal for me, because I do not use the jewel cases, but thought I should let everyone know.

    Terrible!
These disks worked very poorly with my Sony cd-burner. I'd say that at least a third of the spindel had to be thrown away due to errors while burning. I couldn't burn a cd faster then 4X without these cds craping out on me. I've tried [other brands], and have been able to burn much faster and with fewer errors. I've also noticed that the music quality is pretty shoddy as well. All in all, these are terrible cd-r's....

    Abyssmal!
Got more "unexpected I/O errors" using these with my new Iomega Predator and CD Creator 4.02. What a waste of money.

    GREAT CD'S
These Memorex CD's are extremely reliable and I have bought many spindles to keep my supply up. They almost all burn perfectly, although I've had an error or two so far. If you want a[n inexpensive] way to backup and distribute data, these disks are great!

    Good while it lasted.
My 750MB Zip drive malfuctioned just after the warranty had expired. Beware!

    The click of death lives!
Omigod---just bought two of these drives and now they both, with regularity, destroy any disks used in them. But not immediately...everything works great for about 3-4 files, then at some point the drive starts to run, and run, and run---and at the end, you have no files, and 250 MB disks cannot be reformatted (can only do short format on these). Iomega gneraously replaced my disks; great, now all the replacements are corrupted. I guess it's the click of death--the symptoms are very similar in terms of what happens to the disks, but the drives do not click! Iomega tech support never heard of this, naturally. Although cheap, I don't care much for CD-RWs, so I've gone to MO disks---much more reliable, I've never had a failure.

    Big Capacity, Easy to Use
I have been happy with my three older zip drives, and this drive is continuing my unbroken string of satisfaction with Iomega products.

Installation: The software installed cleanly. I love boring installations!

Connectivity: The drive ran fine on a hub. It helps that it is self-powered and doesn't need to draw power off the USB line. It comes with an adapter-at least my drive did. (The "Technical Data" section of this site's product description says that the drive is powered by your USB cable. But if you choose to use the adapter, I doubt that that statement is correct.) I later installed a USB 2.0 card and gave the zip drive its own port, but it is still plugged into the adapter.

Speed: Speed is relative. Even with the obsolete USB 1, the 750 was faster than my 4x CD-RW, my previous backup engine. And now with USB 2.0, it writes a 175 MB zip file in 45 seconds.

Human Factors: Another reviewer complained that this drive is so lightweight that it just scoots backwards when you try to insert a disk. He's right. So I took a crude but effective approach to "planting" the drive. I took a big piece of duct tape and taped the drive to the top of my system unit. Now the drive is in a real handy spot, and it doesn't budge when I insert a disk. So what if it's no longer portable, and it's more like an internal drive. That's OK.

Vulnerable to static discharge? It is, according to one reviewer, who had a spark leap from his finger to the drive, and said spark temporarily knocked his drive out of commission. I have had no such problem because with the drive taped in place, I don't have to hold it down with one hand when inserting a disk. So I don't need to touch the case. Also, it may help that the drive is against my system unit's metal case.

    Some nitpicking:
    (1) This drive is much noisier than my previous three zip drives (all internal). Its "zip" noises are loud and raspy.
    (2) Dust might get inside the drive because there is more air space around the door than I have ever seen on a drive. I hope it won't collect enough dust to damage it. I see no way to safely clean it out.
    (3) Iomega innovates so quickly that any Iomega product you buy may soon be obsolete.

SAVE THE ANTI-STATIC BAG that the drive ships in. If you ever need to carry the drive somewhere, you can use the bag to protect it from static and keep that loose penny in your purse or briefcase from slipping into it.

    Looks can be Very Deceiving
I bought a pack of these disks (in translucent colors) about a year ago for three reasons: their cool looks, the neat case, and their cheap price. Now, I regret it; the only good thing about them is the case (one star for the case and another star for the colors, no stars for their insides).

I would only recommend these disks if you attach absolutly no value to your data or pictures and have no intention of accessing your information. In the past couple months I used these disks to store some archived data concerning my workplace. Lately, when it was necessary to access this information, the computer was unable to. At first I blamed the software, but was suspicious when more files became inaccesable. After running Scandisk, I found the files were damaged because the disk contained numerous BAD SECTORS.

I have since switched back to the reliable Fuji disks. I have used Fuji disks for the past six years and have NEVER had a problem with them. Actually, I've never had a problem with any brand of disks except Memorex. The Fuji disks, by the way, are also available in rainbow colors and look even better than the Memorex ones.

    Colorful, inexpensive, work just fine!
I am not sure why some other reviewers rated these floppy disks so low, but I have had absolutely no trouble with them - and I have used them on a number of different computers (from home to office). They work perfectly fine every time and have not failed at all. The price is right; they're colorful (my day certainly needs brightening-up sometimes!), and the box they come in is great storage. While it may be true that now we have better storage media in the form of CD writers, not everyone has a CD writer - or wants one for that matter! Meanwhile, all PC's still come with a floppy drive and these disks will work perfectly.

Awesome "film" for my digital camera.
I have a Sony Mavica and use these disks whenever I go on a trip as temporary "film" until I get back home. I haven't lost a picture yet on them. Once I get back home, I burn them to a CD-RW, but they are great for going on the road and not having to take a laptop with a CD-RW and media along. I just put the case in my oversize camera bag with a couple extra charged batteries and away I go. For the price, they can't be beat.

does not play correctly in some players
does not play correctly in some players, skips and some were defective before even adding anything on them. as i said before this used to be a really good company at one time.

    plus the packaging looks generic.

Great Discs. No Problems at all
These are great DVD+R discs. I have had trouble with others, such as Memorex in some players. The TDK ones, as well as Sony, work perfectly. I run a very high end PC, so I have no issues with the data speed transfer and write, which is the usual cause of the poor DVD performance post-burn and failed burns. All I buy now is Sony and TDK, and couldn't be happier.

    Zero problems with these disks
I purchased a TDK external Indi DVD burner and tried several brands of DVD's. The burner has been flawles with all brands of DVDs that I used (TDK, Memorex, Verbatin). However, I have had problems with Memorex CD-Rs in the past and have noticed that the Memorex DVD's are somewhat transparent (very noticeable when you use a marker on the front) which probably does not bode well for long term life. I have burned over 50 of the TDK DVD's without any problems and have played them in a variety of DVD players without any problems. TDK has very good reputation among DVD enthusiasts and the Indi burner is a CNET editor choice (and the Sony is not). Perhaps the other reviewers here had other problems that were not really the result of bad media or hardware.

AVOID IF YOU HAVE NEC 1300a
It will not work on this drive. Period. I switched to Maxell and Fujifilm disks, and now I'm a happy camper.

Does not work with Plextor PX-708A Drive
These disks simply do not work with the Plextor-708A DVD writer, even with the latest firmware upgrade. When I called Plextor for some guidance, they told be never to use this brand. I switched to TDK and had no problems after that.

    Very Good dvd-rw media.
I've bought these five Memorex dvd-rw on Amazon. All five of them are very good so far. To write and rewrite and rewrite on 3 disks and they are all good. I've used them with new Sharp 300U Dvd-recorder with 80GB HDD.

Don't let the 24X label fool you!
It does not work at 24X. I bought these to try to use my Mt. Rainier-enabled drive that supports rewriting at 24X so I can use these CDRWs like floppies. But they do not rewrite at 24X! Searching the forums on the web will reveal that these can only write at 16X and while this may be acceptable for some people who are willing to reduce the rewrite speed to 16X and not use the UDF packet writing, if you are like me and want to use packet writing, these disks are not for you. They will just cause headaches and lots of read / write failures. I've heard Verbatim brand ultra speed CDRWs work at 24X. While they do not have the 700mb version yet, sacrificing 50mb for a working disc is acceptable in my opinion.

      not for car audio use
the original plan of use for these discs were to be used for an mp3 disc for my sony cd/mp3 cd player in my car. i have a high speed sony cd-rw drive (48x/24x/48x) and when mp3s are written on 16-24x on the cds, the music constantly skips. an ideal speed is 2x or 4x. i learned the hard way, but i have no problems saving some of my downloaded mpegs on these discs.

i think the other reviews saying that thses discs dont write past 16x are due to the fact that mabey they dont have an ultra speed cd-rw drive like i do. i have had no problems writing on 24x.

      Work Great
These are the only CD-RW's I can create VCDs with AND run on my set-top DVD player (Sony SVP-S530D). Even the green boxes of Memorex don't work, but these consistently work great.
