Sony RMDR1 Wired Remote Control for DSCF717

Great tool to have
This unit is great. If you need to take pictures without moving the camera while touching the "fire" button, you definitelly need this. The unit works as advertised giving you zoom and fire control. Great for long-exposures. A nice plus is that it is compatible with the external HLV1000 flash unit, so that when the flash unit plugs into the camera remote control port, you can still plug the remote control into the flash's remote control port (i.e.: daisy-chain the remote control and the flash unit). The only downside is that I wish the unit could somehow be dettached and used as a wireless remote control as well, but heck, I guess you can't have everything. I also find the price a bit steep.

Shutter remotes have come a long ways.
The major draw back (other than the price) is the clip on the remote. It would have been nice if the remote itself was not on the clip. Other than that it is easy to use. This item coupled with a tri-pod, produce clear crisp pictures. The remote also allows the user to zoom in and out.

I have been very happy with the picture quality of my DSC F717. This remote helps to improve picture quality and allows me to utilize longer shutter speeds without distortion due to camera movement. I like the fact that even with the remote plugged in I can still use the controls on the camera.

Tamron 75-300mm f/4-5.6 LD w/ Hood for Pentax SLR Cameras
Made by Tamron

Put this lens in your toolkit
The Tamron f/4-5.6 75-300 zoom is a great buy at the price. The zoom is very smooth and auto focus very responsive. Very nice optics. For outdoor work you can, almost, get away with this as the only lens. Results are crisp beautiful photos. Quality is vastly superior to the lenses generally included in a Pentax kit.

Personally I find the low end of the focal length limiting (indoors in particular) and it could be a bit brighter (aperture) but the quality is very good at 300mm. As far as cost goes there is nearly a $100.00 price delta between this and an equivalent 28-200mm lens.

I have personally used this lens for several weddings (paid and voluntary) with great results. Lens is light enough that I have been able to do a lot of shots freehand (no tripod) without noticeable "shake" in the resulting photos. In addition to the weddings I have also had good results with equestrian, other "slow" action photos and in particular landscape shots where I use the zoom to frame the shot with different points of view (POV).

In summary this is a very good lens at a very good price. If you need a long lens in your set this is a very good choice.

Nice little bag
This bag is compact, very light, and cheap. It can hold your compact or mid-size camcorder, it's charger, and a few extra tapes. It's a nice bag to have if you just bring your camcorder on family vacations. It is also very durable. If you have a larger camcorder or use your camcorder frequently I suggest a larger more expensive bag.

Telrad Finder Sight

Average review score:

A simple finder for amateur telescopes
The Telrad is an easy to use 1x (that is right one power) reflex finder. I use one with my Meade 8" LX200 telescope. The advantage of a reflex finder is that you can aim the telescope at the area you see with your naked eyes. If I had one of these finders when I started out with my first telescope, I would have spent more time looking at objects than looking for them. It can be used as a complement to the "minature telescope" finders, or with a "Go-To" scope as the only finder. How does the Telrad work? it projects three concentric rings of 4, 2 and half a degree on a transparent window that you look through. The key to using it is to point the telescope at a bright object, then align the reticle (rings) to be centered on the object, and then use the rings to point the scope where you want to observe. The biggest advantage is if you aren't on a target, you can see which direction you need to move the scope without having to make the mental calculation... is my image reversed/upside-down, etc.? The one drawback is that you can only use objects (stars) that you can see with the naked eye. That makes it less useful in light polluted areas. The one thing about the Telrad that is a pet peeve, is that it is large. Also, in damp locations, it is suseptable to dew. There are a number of simple solutions to this. Since installing the Telrad on my LX200, I haven't used the 8x50 finder that Meade sells as standard equipment.

Average review score:

Small, but still a bit too big
The case is sturdily built with two zippered closures and an adjustable shoulder strap. The exterior bottom panel is a nobby ruggedized material that probably is waterproof. The remainder of the case exterior is pebble grained leather-looking material.

The main compartment for the camera is easily accessed via the zippered front flap and is padded on left, right, back, and bottom. Top and front padding is thinner. The inside of the main comaprtment flap has a zippered pocket suitable for holding a memory card. Inside dimensions (inches): 6H x 3.25W x 2.5D The main compartment zippered opening is 3 inches wide.

The smaller zippered compartment is on the back of the case. It contains loops for 4 AA batteries, a zippered pocket suitable for a memory card or slim remote control, and a second unzippered pocket that is a little smaller than business card size.

I got this case to house an Olympus D-40 zoom digital camera. The main compartment is far too big for this camera. By itself, the camera would rattle around inside the case. I've filled the extra space by putting a carry case for 4 AA batteries into the bottom of the main compartment and adding a pair of light socks to fill in the remaining space. This leaves the smaller compartment free for the remote control and a small notebook.

I'm keeping the case. It provides more than adequate protection for the camera (with socks installed!) and will work fine for day trips and similar short outings.

A good solid camera bag for the D-490
A couple of weeks ago I picked up the Olympus D-490 and this was the case I bought for it. I must say that this is definitely a great product. It is extremely well built for it's price and hosts some good solid features. There are 2 compartments of storage: the main pouch and the front zippered accessory area. In the front zippered area there are 3 compartments: the battery elastic band which holds 4 AA batteries and 2 zippered mesh pockets. These pockets are large enough to carry memory cards and accessories for the D-490.

The whole case is sturdy and built rugged with it's soft pading for the camera and durable bottom. I definitely recommend this bag for anyone who has a digital camera with the approximate dimensions of the D-490. You will enjoy this case as it is inexpensive, functional, sturdy, well designed and looks good.

Carry the essentials
This is a nice digital camera bag, very sturdy and well padded. The interior has a soft plush lining to prevent LCD screen damage. It is a perfect size for a "point & shoot" type digital camera, such as the Olympus D360L. The front of the case zips open on both sides to reveal a flap with mesh pockets suitable for a spare set of NiMH batteries, cables or extra memory cards. It also features a sewn on belt loop and removable shoulder strap. Well made & compact.

Get the DLO charger and save yoursefl $10
This device is not worth the $30+ since the amplifier function is so hit and miss. With my car stereo & iPod mini the signal produced from the "amped" line-out on the charger is about 1/50th of the volume produced just by hooking the tape adapter into the normal audio-out on the iPod. I didn't even think the charger's line out was working at first until I cranked the stereo all the way up with the "amped" line out volume on max. Basically, I paid an extra $10 for a non-feature. In hindsight I should have ordered the DLO charger only for $20 from somewhere else because all I have is a charger.

GREAT PRODUCT!
I think that the folks that gave this product low ratings have electrical systems in their vehicles that are not compatible or are hooking it up wrong (somehow?). This charger should not have any effect on the hissing sound through a cassette adapter. There are many ways to use the line output with this product: If you have an aftermarket cd player that has a line input on the front of the head unit, you can use a 3$ mini stero jack cable and hook it up that way (from the ipod headphones or the Charger). Better yet, in my case my cd player has RCA line inputs on the back, so I just bought a Mini Stero Jack that splits to two RCA's and plugged them in...AWESOME SOUND!! I recommend the charger, and for me it works great!!

Great when working with RCA to Mini Jack Adapter
From my Car Stereo Head Unit, I bought a 15 dollar rca adapter to convert the CD changer port to a standard RCA Input. Go out and buy a 5 dollar RCA to Mini cable and connect that from the RCA adapter to the Auto Kit. Connect your IPOD to the Auto Kit, and away you go. The best sound you can get from your IPOD. No static Cassette, no low sound FM transmitter. Just straight RCA input into your Car Stereo.
Total cost approx. 55 dollars to get the best out of your ipod while charging. After buying two cables and the Auto Kit. 1.5 years and still going...
Worth the buy.
