Customer Service ripped me off on this one
This housing rocks!!!
Excellent Underwater Camera Housing!!!Photos up to 40 ft. were perfectly clear. I did not have an external strobe, so the deeper I took it the darker the photos got. But the deeper photos cleaned up beautifully with Dell's Image Expert. Will try the external strobe on my next trip!

Nikon Coolpix 775 Case Description and ReviewThe case is the size of the Coolpix 775 camera (about 4" high and 3" wide). It is made of soft grey material with a metal Nikon logo on the front. There is a two sided zipper coming up from both sides, allowing the camera to be inserted from the top. The zippers go down to about 1" from the bottom. The camera's lanyard can be left protruding through the zipper, or tucked inside. On the back is a strap that filts over your belt. On top is a detachable 2 ft lanyard (a 1/4" thick string) with an adjustable stop that can be moved up and down (shortening the loop, but leaving the rest of the lanyard hanging out.
My opinion--the good:
A small camera deserves a small case. This one fits the bill. The soft sides, both inside and out, make it less likely to scratch the LCD panel. Wearing it on my belt (with the lanyard detached), I found it very easy to get the camera in and out of its case in seconds. There was no fumbling involved. Having the lanyard detachable is a real plus when wearing the camera on my belt.
The not so good:
While the small case is nice, it would be nice to have a small pocket to store a spare battery, CF card, or even the lanyard when detached. Also, I find the two foot lanyard awkward. It is a bit long. I would much prefer a somewhat shorter and flattened shoulder strap; I think it would be easier to carry on my shoulder. (There is also the option of carrying the case around by the camera's lanyard protruding from the zipper.)
perfect fit
A compact case for a compact camera.....The case is a stretchy wetsuit type material that offers moderate protection and is robustly constructed. The lining is a nylon type fabric - not fuzzy but perfectly adequate.
There is a simple pocket in the inside that will take a compact flash card (naked, without plastic case or a tight squeeze with a case). Room for a spare battery would be nice.
The cord is a long 2 feet which allows the camera to be carried around the neck but also unclips easily, and could easily be replaced or shortened if the length bothers you.
The 2 zippers open the case wide for easy access.
Overall, perfect fit, sturdy and functional. Buy it if you want a compact case for your compact camera at a good price.

Great bag...Too bad it's Too small!

Adequate. Not built to last. Also the zippered opening of this bag is prone to slightly scratch or mar plastic, or antireflective coatings such as those on camera LCDs.

shutter lagThe shutter lag is about a second, which means that the camera takes a picture about a second after you press the button (see other review). Now try shooting fish when bouncing in the surf!
Very disappointing indeed. I hope they fixed this for the Xt, because the Minolta hotline plainly stated, that it's just the way it is for my camera, not fix is being considered. Now if you shoot static pictures on the beach, the case may be nice, but trying to frame marine life is next to impossible and makes the case practically useless for snorkelers or divers.
amazing device!

Not so Great
Important Option
More than just a battery pack. You have to remove two parts from the camera to install the MB-E5700. The MB-E5700 has slots to store these parts, so they don't become lost. It takes only a minute or so to install.
The MB-E5700 has a lockable shutter button and zoom control that are intended for use when the camera is held in the vertical position. The shape of the battery pack itself assists with holding the camera in the vertical position.
Finally, the bottom of the MB-E5700 is flat and wide to accommodate placing the camera on a flat surface and being able to take photos with the camera perfectly level. There is a tripod mount as well. The battery pack places the camera a small distance away from the tripod itself - giving more room for handling the camera's controls and looking into the viewfinder.
This is a good accessory for the 5700. I just wish it were lower in cost.

it does not fit a G3
looks great, ok function
Handsome, sturdy case if you own the G2Yes, the case is in two parts, but this is how standard SLR cameras have been made for years. And contrary to what other are saying, you do not have to 'take one part off and set it aside in order for you to use the camera.' While not recommended during extensive use, you can have the upper part dangle. This is simply how old-style SLR camera cases have been made for years!
And yes, accessibility is limited with the case, but I really don't know how they could have made the case be protective without it limiting some of the access. The ports that are available are the power and the PC connection ports.
Look, the main reason why I bought this is because I don't want the body of the G2 scratched up, and protected from minor bumps and drops. The case does this fine. And it good looking to boot.

A Half-Effort by Canon, Not Worthy of Carrying My PowershotFor all of us who have a Canon S-series Powershot, we spent a lot of money on our higher-end consumer digicams and want a Canon-branded case to show off our camera and feel good about our purchase. So the least you'd expect would be either (1) they'd include a nice Canon-branded case with the camera or (2) make a Canon-branded case worthy of this line of digicams. I love my Powershot S-30, am taking fantastic pictures with it, but I have to say the case options Canon gives you has been the biggest frustration with my purchase thus far.
The positives: it's leather (or leatherette..hmm?), looks OK, specifically fits the S-series well and isn't priced outrageously for the value you're getting. As far as the negatives, enough people have already pointed them out so I'm going to focus on what to buy instead...
WHAT TYPE OF BAG ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
-FULLY PADDED WITH ROOM FOR ACCESSORIES: if you want a bag w/ good protective padding, that has room for an extra battery and CF card and has a neck/shoulder strap, you should seriously think about a LowePro. After spending countless hours on Canon message boards, I can't begin to count the number of times people recommended these - good looking, sturdy construction and a very good value. You can find many of their models on amazon - but check out their website, and specifically the D-series and Z-series bags.
-BELT CLIP CASE: while the PSC-30 fits the minimum requirements here (it clips to your belt), many of LowePro's models allow for clipping to the belt and are still very compact (and btw, no I'm not a LowePro employee - read on...)
-FORMFITTING SLIMLINE: by definition, these aren't going to provide a lot of impact protection, simply weather/scratch protection. so, having said that, for the ultimate in slimline cases, I'd go with Canon's SC-PS900 specifically designed for the S-series Powershots. This case is made of a neoprene-like material that pound for pound probably provides a good deal of impact protection, form fits the S30/40/45/50 perfectly with just enough room for a spare battery (w/o the little battery tray) and the camera wrist strap attached to the camera, looks cool as heck and has the all-important red Canon logo displayed on the front. But wait...they don't sell them in the US! Huh? You can get them in Europe, Asia and even Canada, but for some strange reason Canon is not allowing US retailers to sell them - sounds like a payoff from the camera bag manufacturers or something else sinister. For those in the US, the cheapest way to get it is through Canadian photo retailers (try Harry's or Vistek). No doubt it will run you more than the PSC, but I guess you get what you pay for.
Full disclosure: I have absolutely no affiliation with LowePro, but I did end up getting the SC-PS900 from a Canadian retailer and have been very happy with it.
basic protection, perfect fit, quick & easy access to camerapros:
- protects from everyday wear and tear without adding bulk or weight to your camera/case package.
- designed specifically for the canon s-series so it's a perfect fit.
- very quick and easy access: using this case's belt loop, it's a two second operation to flick open the velcro cover and fish the camera out.
- reasonable priced - in the ballpark of generics.
cons:
- does not have enough padding/protection: from all the reviews i've read, this is one of two main complaints. i have to agree; this case won't protect your camera if you drop it, but it wasn't designed to do that. if you want more padding (but with more bulk), you'll have to look elsewhere.
- no extra pockets for CF cards or spare batteries: this is the other main complaint, and again, this is true. while this is an issue for some, it isn't for me because i was looking for the smallest case i could find. adding more pockets means more bulk. besides, i bought a 512MB card and for me, that's enough storage capacity that i don't need a spare CF card. a spare battery, if i felt i needed it for that day's activities, will sit in my pocket.
i like this case. i accept the "cons" i listed as a necessary trade-off to what i was really after: the smallest, lightest case for my s50. it really depends on what you want to use this case for. if you need more protection or more storage, pass on this case. if you're looking for a simple case that offers everyday protection, a perfect fit, and allows quick and easy access to your camera, this is the one.
i hope this helps you with your buying decision. peace.
I totally love this caseI am reading that people don't like this case because you can't carry an extra battery or memory card (now if Canon did put a small pouch in front so you could carry an additional card that would have been slick). But if your just using the camera for the day or weekend, one battery and card should be adequate.
You get the benefit of having this camera attached at your hip with little interference. I absolutely love this case for what it was designed to do.
