Minolta SLR Gadget Bag with Shoulder Strap

    Do'nt count on this Bag
A bit loose pouches make this bag very ugly. Since I am obcessed for good looking, I discarded this immediately after receiving it free with Maxxum 5. I counted 10 percent of the advertised price and would not have bougt it even for the 10% price if I have seen it before.

    It's OK.
I purchased it without knowing what it looks like. I'll try to describe it since Amazon.com doesn't have a picture of it. It's black, approx 12-inch long, 6-inch wide, 6-inch high and comes with a shoulder strap. It has a stiched Minolta logo in the front that doesn't look like a genuine Minolta logo (but close enough). It has lots of room for the camera and several films and maybe you can also fit another lens (I don't have another lens, but I think you can do it). It also has two side pockets (one on each side) that come with padding for protection. You can remove the padding for extra storage, but don't bump the bag/camera. The bag can be bulky. I don't regret this purchase.

not so good for everyone and in every situation
It is good only for those professional persons who always carry additional lens and other things together with the camera. Or if you travel around, it is also good. You can put a bottle of water or other small stuff in this bag.Because the bag is a little bit big. So I bought another small one from ebay.

Canon HC4100 Lockable Hard Case for GL1/GL2

      Beautiful but fatally flawed.
This case is sexy and very professional-looking. It is obviously rugged and well-constructed. But just a few minutes ago, the shoulder strap slipped through the hitch system, and the case (and expensive camera therein) slammed onto the pavement.

When I first got this case, I had noticed the ridiculous attachment of the strap (relies on friction, expecting slippery nylon webbing to grip to itself... stupid) and wondered if I should do something about it.

Other complaints - the "swivels" that connect the strap to the box - don't swivel. So the strap gets all munged up and twisted. Very annoying.

Lastly, with a quick-release tripod plate (Bogen/Manfrotto in my case) left on the camera - the case won't close! STUPID. Even a thinner plate (not that I've seen one) wouldn't work - the fit is so designed. Maybe carving out one of the rigid foam supports in the lid will fix this.

Anyway - I think you'd be better off cutting custom foam for an excellent Pelican case (also readily available on Amazon.com).

The Canon case is a very pretty thing, and will give your rig a very professional look, if that's most important to you. But a Pelican would likely survive a drop out of a car on the freeway... no way this thing would.

Basic and as inexpensive as they get
Unfortunately, if you need a ruggedized case, this is as inexpensive as they come. If you want a truly ruggedized case for professional use, this is not it. If you use a quick release tripod attachment the camera does not fit in the case.
It is quite effective for storing all of your cabling, power supply, tapes, and a few other accessories. And, let's face it, if you shelled out for the GL-2 you are going to want to protect it.
If you truly need a well protected camera and intend to use a Bogen quick release mount, and are lugging this thing all over heck and back, get a custom cut case. Otherwise, this is a great deal at the price, and very sexy.

Case? yes. Secure and safe? no.
I owned a DSC-S75 camera prior to selling it and then getting a DSC-S85 instead. This case is designed to fit both cameras and it does that. It forces you to store the camera in one direction, due to the lens housing on the camera and the case's design. The case lid is then secured with a velcro closure that you can't see in the picture but is right behind the label on the case. The velcro is not tremendously strong. The case's design also makes it top heavy with a camera inside. I had the case turn upside down at least twice while carrying on my shoulder (with the strap) and those times, the velcro did not hold it closed, thereby dumping my camera on the ground. Once was indoors, however the other was outside and while riding a bicycle. That incident severely damaged the camera body and I had to have Sony repair it. When I took the case and camera to the Sony repair station, they were sympathetic and understanding to the design flaw and did not charge me for the repair - they covered it under the factory warranty! In addition to both of those camera models no longer being in production by Sony, this case isn't either. I would not recommend this case for any camera, much less kleenex. The list price was also excessive compared to other cases available. There are also no other pockets or pouches besides the battery/memory stick pouch on the strap. The only real plus I would give this case is that it is somewhat hard or sturdy.

      Bull
Nice Case. but, a little pricey for what it is. It's tiny! so is the camera, though.. too bad the memory stick offered by Tech Depot didnt show up. They told me I could go pound salt instead of getting the stick. Not very stoked about the whole sit'. First prob I've had with Amazon.com beside their slow saver shipping. know what you're getting here. u might get it for cheaper elsewhere.

Pretty box, but what is in it?
I own a fuji602 and am very happy with the results I get from it.You know how it is,there's always something else that you want to add to what you already have.Well this 'starters kit' is obviously a total waste of time and money. They don't even want to tell you what is in the box !
Take it from me that whatever it is you can do without it !
Carry case ? Extra memory ? Batteries? Charger? Mains adapter ?
These are all available form other sources and probably at a better price.Have a look around your local store and take your pick.
Sorry Fuji but you have shot yourselves in the foot with this product.
BTW How come we in the UK pay a good 50% more for any digital camera?

What is in a 'digital camera accessory kit'?
I have yet to stumble across a listing for anything comparable to this FP-SO1 thingy that says what on earth is _in_ the kit.

The picture of the green box doesn't enlarge enough for me to be able to hazard a guess beyond bag, maybe a memory disk, and maybe a battery charger.

So I can't tell what this pig in a poke is; and I can't tell if the kit includes things I might need that aren't included with the camera itself, or things that I might want like a USB cable; and I can't comparison-shop between the mystery kit and an a la carte selection.

Maybe I've missed the right button to click, but it sure seems like there ought to be a way- without making a trip to an Office Depot, for instance- to know what is in this accessory kit.

      Accessory Kit
The accessory kit contains a soft case, 4 rechargeable batteries, a battery charger, and a 1 gigabyte IBM micro-drive memory card. Just the memory card alone makes the kit worth purchasing.

Not a good deal from Celestron
I had formed a good impression of Celestron based on my experience with the Nexstar5, so I was quite disappointed with the price:quality ratio of this accessory. What you get for the money is a fairly inexpensive plastic case (production cost to Celestron, probably <$10) and several sheets of pre-scored, low-density foam. The idea is you are supposed to "pluck" out pieces of the foam until you've got a cavity that fits the very irregular profile of the scope. I guess that's the idea - there are no instructions in the box as to how to achieve the fit. And after over an hour of very careful plucking, I ended up with a very unsatisfactory result. In order to fit the scope and foam in the box, you have to thin down the foam margins to the point that they fall apart (remember, they are pre-scored right to the edges). The margins are also thin enough so that I doubt they would provide much shock protection. Finally, the multiple floppy sheets have no way to hang together when the scope isn't in the box. Overall, it's a very poor product for the price, and very surprising, as it would have been very cheap for Celestron to supply a pair of pre-formed foam inserts.

        Too Big
The camera bag does is too big! I own a 120MI, and it is like marble in a bag. I think I'm going to buy the case for the EfinaT b/c it has to be smaller. I am disappointed in the size of this bag. It does feel nice, and is well made, but the size is more then I wanted. My camera swims around in there!

        Description totally inaccurate
This case is inaccurately described. There are no interior compartments, side or rear pockets. This is nothing more than a single compartment case with a small interior mesh pocket just large enough for a memory card.

          It works, theoretically...
I bought one of these off E-Bay for $25.00. I first tried it out in my reader, and it worked fine...I could write and read stuff off it easily. But in my camera, which is what I needed it for, it doesn't work at all. When I tried to format it, I just got a 'card error' displayed. I searched the net for possible fixes, perhaps some way to format it through my computer, and found nothing I'd feel secure about...

In the future I'll pay more attention to brand, that's for sure.

          Rick

          try a different brand
i've had nothing but trouble with my memorex 128mb card. i'm using it with a korg pxr4 digital recorder, and it periodically stops being recognized by the recorder or my card reader, and i've lost a lot of data and time.

i've had no problems with other cards. just this one.

the little plastic case is nice, though.

          Great Product, Bad Manufacturer Service
Okay, so here's the lowdown on this thing. It works well with just about any device that requires these cards, no problems there. Can take all 128MB and not break a sweat. Originally, there was a rebate offered with this product. I know two other people who bought this exact same product, sent it in, and didn't get jack for it. Don't buy if you think you're going to get some of that money back. Anyways, overall a great product. Enjoy it!

Poor choice for the Powershot S1
While this carrying case might have been designed specifically for the Powershot S1 in mind, it is a VERY poor choice for the following reasons
          - It is difficult to open and close. There is a zippered left and right side which goes down about 2-3 inches. The top flap closes with velcro. It therefore takes three movements to open the bag. An awkward and timeconsuming process.
          - There is no space to keep a spare set of batteries, the minimum accessories a person would want to keep along with their camera. There is an inside pocket for memory cards. But I find that one card is all that fits easily. Any more, and the camera case will bulge.

This is designed for the fashion concious and trendy crowd who want the Canon logo on their camera case. It is not a practical carrying case. The least I would have expected is for Canon to design a concelable strap for this case. Instead, there is a belt loop which is pretty much useless as this camera is a little too bulky for you to put around your belt loop. And it seems certain to distort the shape of your belt. Do think twice about this purchase.

I am still looking for another case for my Powershot S1. I see a Targus Digital Camera Max case for under five bucks on Amazon and think I will get that instead. If you have alternate suggestions, do add them, for the benefit of other folks, right here.

          Alternate to PSC-70
I've heard other negative comments about the size case and found the Tamrac 5693 fits the Canon S1, and looks a lot better.

          Not for DSC-V1
This bag is NOT for the DSC-V1. The box says this bag is for DSC-P10/P8/P9/P7/P2. You can not fit the camera in this bag. It's a nice bag though.

          Not worth it.
This case looks nice, but is hard to get to the camera, and has no room for anything else. Look for a better deal.
