  • Alas, most of us live in or near major cities, and our air quality is far from pristine
  • Winter weather traps in bad air, compounding the problem

"Packs a punch"
We have over 20 birds, 4 dogs and live on the lake. Dust, dander and the likes are commonplace. I happened upon this particular air cleaner at a discounter and purchased it for a great price. I am very pleased with the results! The room I have it in is much larger in size than what is recommened for this particular model and even then this little guy packs a punch! The only negative is the cost of the replacement filters. We are an extreme example, however. If a small room ( 8 X 10 is recommended ) with limited pollutents is in receipt of this wonderful contraption, I can't imagine anyone being dissatified.

portable, relatively quiet, well-designed
This unit is a bit large, but not very heavy at all and has
a convenient handle on top, making it easy to move it to
another room, if necessary. The purifier both takes in and
expels air horizontally in all directions, taking in air
through the grille and expelling it very close to the floor
through the gap that runs around the unit just above the fan
switch. The lower of the two fan settings is very quiet and
is barely audible. The higher setting is audible but unless
you're a light sleeper (e.g., unable to sleep w/ an air
conditioner on), you could put this unit in a bedroom. The
handle has a threaded bolt built into it and screws on to
the top of the unit, securing the plastic grille/cover.
This makes opening up the unit to replace filters is as easy
as spinning the handle to unscrew it and lifting off the
cover. It's worth noting that we don't have really bad
allergies, so I can't provide a confident testimonial of
this product's effectiveness for a severe allergy sufferer,
but we definitely noticed an improvement in air quality in
our (small) apartment. (Of course, you have HEPA
certification and the promise of handling 192 cubic feet to
take at face value.)

      Imatin floppy cleaning kit
Of all the ones I have used this has always worked on the first try.It does not go into dos which is annoying and wastes time. I have found Imatation products to be of consistantly high quality. On the very rare occations when I have had a problem whith one of their floppies they not only replaced the flawed disk without complaint, the gave me a few extras.

Does what it says it will do
Biozone is the best. If I were going to sell 3 things in this world this would be one of them. It is quiet, doesn't take up the space that others do. It can fit almost anywhere, there is no filter to change or clean. It is does what it says it will do. Cleans the air, helps you breathe better, gets the toxins out of the air and you know that there are more toxins in your home then there are outside it, in most places. Helps you to sleep uninterrupted by allergy coughs. It is just great, you can be smaller ones fro one room or even you car. I know people who no longer have to go to Arizona in the winter, but can go, because now they have a choice. If you haven't tried it, Do it. Give it a week in your home and you will be SOLD. I wouldn't do without mine and that is for sure. Sound like a salesman... maybe, but I am just a very satisfied customer.

It's the best value despise the high price.
Although I don't have chemical sensitivity problem, I am very sensitive to certain smells. Certain food like becon smell drives me crazy to the point I can't sleep. I've tried everything. I had five cans of air fresheners around the 928 sq.ft. apartment on top of the two heated scent oils. I had two TrueAir units in the kitchen that I ran 24/7. These just didn't work for me. After an exhausive research on air cleaners and filtrations, I finally gritted my teeth and bought this expensive IQAir because it had 12 lbs of activated carbon filter.

As soon as we got it, We tested the thing out right away by cooking spicy Italian suasage for dinner. We dragged the unit into the kitchen and let it run at the highest fan speed for a few hours. By the time we went to bed, the smell was gone. It used to take a few days with two TrueAirs to get rid of the smells. We dragged the thing back to the bedroom and let it run at the lowest setting the whole night to test out the HEPA pre-filter. The next morning my husband woke up without a stuffy nose.

      PROs
      - It works exactly as advertised.

      - It kills odors completely. If you have a very sensitive nose, you'll know what it means.

      - HEPA pre-filter. Allergy anyone?

      - The fan is very quiet. The lowest two settings is hardly heard. Even at the highest setting, the fan hums rather than blasts.

      - It is programmable. We can set it to run a few hours before we get home from work. That helps prolong the filter life. You can program the dust load, fine dust load, and gas load and it automatically calculate the filters' lives for you. So, if you live in a less dusty area, your filters last longer. It'll tell you exactly when to change the filters.

      - It is a solid machine. No flimsy parts.

      - It covers 900 sq.ft. One unit is enough for an entire apartment.

      CONs
      - The caster wheels work fine on a hard surface floor. They don't move effectively on carpetted floor. I found it easier to half lift, half drag the unit between the kitchen and the bedroom. Because the heavy carbon filters are on the top part of the unit, this thing is top-heavy. When you drag it and the wheels got stuck, it tends to tip over.

      - The assembly instruction sucks. It doesn't show you how to put the carbon filters together. You pretty much have to guess what goes where.

      NOTEs
      - When you unpack the carbon filters, be sure to wipe them really good with damp paper towel. Do not use a cloth towel unless you plan to throw the towel away. Of course, the instruction doesn't tell you this. (It doesn't tell you anything, actually.) I figured that out on the second filter.

      - Amazon website listed this as 1200 sq.ft. coverage area. But the manufacturer's site says 900 sq.ft. The model that covers 1,200 sq.ft. has twice the carbon capacity and costs twice more.

      - Neither one of us has chemical sensitivity so we can't test that feature. However, I notice that the Clorox smell doesn't linger on for half a day the day I do laundry like it did before.

        Use On All Your Discs...
We spend alot of money keeping ourselves entertained with little discs. CDs, DVDs, CD-ROM, PlayStation...so it makes sense that we want to keep all these discs working at top performance. The "Maxell CD Cleaning Cloths" are a safe(lint-free and non-abrasive), easy and econimcal way to keep them dirt and smudge free, insuring a better quality playback. One gentle wipe of your disc may help to eliminate mistracks or sound distortion.

The price is right for such a little item that does such a big job. I consider them essential. When offered by Amazon(I see they are only available from outside sellers at this time), they're a great buy as you can throw them in your cart whenever you need just that little extra to put you into the free shipping range.

And... Don't forget about the CD and DVD players themselves...cleaning the lenses occassionally also helps to improve perfomance. I use and recommend the Memorex CD/DVD Laser Lens Cleaner. It does a good job, is reusable, performs optimazation tests(that checks your system), and is a very reasonable price as well.

And don't forget... always clean your CDs in an outward motion starting from the center(never circular).

        Go For It....Laurie
