Too sharpThe only 'disadvantage', is that the lens is too sharp and therefore if you do not focus very carefully, u will get a lot of blur (not camera shake). Yet, a bit of practice will sort this out.
It is a rare lens and therefore a must have for people who need to take pictures indoors without FLAH! Unfortunately, I did not have the relevant indoor colour balance filters. They are necessary for indoor pictures to reduce that greenish and orange effect.
I recommend this lens!

Excellent LensEventually, through reading other reviews on Amazon about the uselessness of most lens kits, I realized I'd have to buy a new, more expensive, better quality lens if I was going to at least take satisfactory pictures--which was my reason for buying an SLR camera in the first place.
Someone else's review of the Pentax SMCP-FA 50mm lens inspired me to purchase it. It's primarily a close-up lens, but it takes good pics from any distance. I've taken some really impressive, professional-looking photos with it.
All I need now is a business card--"Angie's Professional Photography," or something. I could make money off of this!

I love the new look
- Air cleaner for your personal space features UVC light to help kill airborne viruses, mold spores and bacteria that enter the unit. Enjoy silent operation; efficient air cleaning; odor reduction; no replacement filters; low energy use; continuous air cleaning. Traps airborne irritants, allergens and pollutants on stainless steel collectors that are easy to wipe clean.
- Proven to kill germs! A top researcher at a prominent U.S. university tested the GP Desktop and the results show that this personal-size air sanitizer "removes and/or kills essentially all of the bacteria that enter the unit" and that "virtually none of the organisms are surviving passage through the unit" because of the built-in UVC light.
- No filters to replace! The GP Desktop is an electrostatic precipitator air cleaner with patented, silent electronic propulsion. There are no disposable filters to find, buy, store or replace. Airborne contaminants that enter the unit are charged and then trapped on oppositely charged, permanent stainless steel collection blades. Simply wipe them clean with a cloth.
- Cleans 24-7! Airborne pollution is constant and that's why any air cleaner, to be effective, should be run continuously. Like our other Ionic Breeze air purifiers, the GP Desktop is designed to run 24-7, with very low 20W power demands and completely silent operation. The included 6W UVC germicidal bulb is effective for about 8 months continuous use.
- Stands just 12" tall on a small 5" x 8" base. Runs on a low 20 watts. Plugs into any standard wall outlet with its included AC/DC adapter. Five-year warranty. Specials: Full-price unit includes FREE $69.95 Ionic Breeze Air Freshener; buy two air purifiers and save 50% on the second. Created by Sharper Image Design.

You'll never buy anything but a Sigma HSM lens again!
I find the 35mm focal length to be far more versatile than the 50mm traditionally recommended to beginning photographers. It's wide enough to be useful for scenics, and still long enough for environmental and half length portraits. Pentax's SMCP-FA 35/2 AL is a super example of what the 35mm focal length can offer.
I've been using FA 35/2 for over two years and, despite having added another six primes (all very good, btw) to my 35mm kit, I still expect this lens to have the longest legs of all.
If you prefer the virtues of primes over the convenience of zooms, this is a prime you owe yourself some time with.
Enjoy.
