I bought this lens without getting my hopes too high. But it turned out to be a good macro lens. There are few short comings. 1. Auto focus mode - camera gets confused. 2. Good for only closeups. Long shorts gets bit blurry.

Manual closeup works great. I finished one full role on this lens and generally the above rule applied to the picture. You can buy it if you are planning to use it only for closeup and you already have a good lens for you portraits, landscapes, etc. Best wishes

The zoom range and macro mode make it a very useful all-around tele-photo lens. I have taken some very sharp macro shots and have had no problem with vignetting.

My interest is urban wildlife and this lens can cover just about all my needs. Its range and macro mode make it the lens I keep on my camera. I use a manual SLR and have not had a chance to test the auto-focus.

I did a comparison of the Kenko SGT-20Hi with the Sony VCL-R2037, and the Kenko had the superior optics. Flare and coma were much smaller in the Kenko SGT-20Hi. Looking at Jupiter at night, the Kenko was able to resolve one of Jupiter's moons to a pixel, while with the Sony the moon appeared only sporadically. Chromatic aberration was a bit less in the Kenko. The vignetting that all the telephoto lenses have when the camcorder is in its wide angle zoom was slightly greater on the Kenko.

With a Sony CCD-TR500 camcorder, some telephoto lenses have a problem of being "near sighted"---unable to focus beyond about 50 feet when the camera is zoomed. This problem occurs with the Sunpak CAL-1160 and Kenko SGT-20 lenses, but is not a problem with Kenko SGT-20Hi or the Sony VCL-R2037 lenses, which have enough leeway in the focus to even accommodate far-spectrum red lights.

It does its job good and it is a smart purchase to protect your camera lens with. It's better to take the chance of messing up a $6 filter lens than your $500+ camera's lens. The only thing I didn't like about this filter is that it comes in a very cheap case that won't really protect it in storage at all. Besides that its all good.

The Tamron became my standard all-purpose lens for my Canon 10D, covering the range of 45-120 (with the conversion factor of 1.6). Love the constant aperture of the whole zoom range, makes nice portrait shots.

I prefer to have it at around 4 - 11 aperture, if crispness is really crucial, that's where it performs really nice. Slightly off around the sides at lower apertures, but that's not really an issue.

The Tamron f/4-5.6 75-300 zoom is a great buy at the price. The zoom is very smooth and auto focus very responsive. Very nice optics. For outdoor work you can, almost, get away with this as the only lens. Results are crisp beautiful photos. Quality is vastly superior to the lenses generally included in a Pentax kit.

Personally I find the low end of the focal length limiting (indoors in particular) and it could be a bit brighter (aperture) but the quality is very good at 300mm. As far as cost goes there is nearly a $100.00 price delta between this and an equivalent 28-200mm lens.

I have personally used this lens for several weddings (paid and voluntary) with great results. Lens is light enough that I have been able to do a lot of shots freehand (no tripod) without noticeable "shake" in the resulting photos. In addition to the weddings I have also had good results with equestrian, other "slow" action photos and in particular landscape shots where I use the zoom to frame the shot with different points of view (POV).

In summary this is a very good lens at a very good price. If you need a long lens in your set this is a very good choice.

I have been using this lens for a couple of weeks now and over all have been very pleased with the results. I have shot over 500 photos (I love digital photography!) and for the price you cannot beat the wide range and over all function of this lens. Sure there are better and faster lens out there but they will not cover the zoom range and you will pay out the nose for a brand name lens. I have to admit I use PhotoShop to tweak all my photos but for me, that is part of the fun. This is the only lens you need to carry in the old camera bag!

I recently tried this zoom at a camera store. It's distance is amazing, though it is also very cheap so it delivers an amatuer interface. The lens makes pictures much, darker ruining some of your shots that you take inside, but other than that its a great lens. I an no pro but if you have the extra cash go for a better Tamron 75-300 or a 28-200 Sigma.

I highly recommend this lens for amateurs like me, but if your a pro then forget about it!

Overall nice lens, good construction, sometimes seems to "hunt" for focus, but otherwise no complaints. Image quality seems to be good, possibly a little distortion out toward 300 but nothing extremely noticeable. A bigger aperature would be nice, but for this price the lens is great.

For everyday use, this filter will protect you camera against scratches and increase your lens's life.
