Very good all-around lens
I purchased this lens for use with a Minolta 600si body. This was my first experience using either a zoom or an autofocus lens as I have been an ardent "manual" equipment photographer for over 40 years. Well, I am very surprised to find this piece of glass a pleasure to work with and I now use it for most of my photos. The mechanics have worked flawlessly and the photos are clear and sharp. I do find the lens rather "slow", although at f3.5-4.5 it is still faster than most zoom lenses in this price range (maybe I've been spoiled by my faster fixed lenses). I therefore use 800 ASA film. The lens mates very well with the Minolta camera, is well balanced and lightweight. For the money it is an excellent choice for wide-angle to portraits and low power zoom. All in all I find the lens to be an excellent choice for an "all purpose" lens.

Great lens!
Great versatility. A little more than the 28-80 but worth it for the time you save changing the lens and greater scope it gives you in pictures. Consider buying just the body of the camera and fixing it up with this lens rather than going with the standard 28-80.

Outstanding wide angle zoom!
This lens is widely held to be one of the best if not the best wide angle professional zoom lens for 35mm and Digital SLRs compatible with Nikon's lens system. I've had mine for about 6 months on a Nikon D-100 and have absolutely nothing I don't like about it. It's sharp from corner to corner at all zoom settings and any pincusion destortion is negligible even at 17mm @ f2.8. The AFS focusing motor is lightning fast and accurate. Filter size is 77mm, same as my Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR lens. Since filters this size aren't cheap, it's nice to be able to share. This lens will support 35mm, APS, and DX format film and digital sensor sizes and comes with a 5-year warranty. If you want the best, and can afford it, you won't be sorry you purchased this lens.

The best wide-angle Nikkor zoom for compatible film cameras
Of the auto-focus Nikkor lenses, I've owned the 20/2.8D, 24/2.8D, and 35-70/2.8D. My current lenses are the AFS28-70/2.8D, AF80-200/2.8D (2-ring version), and the AFS17-35/2.8D.

The AFS17-35/2.8D is the sharpest lens of all the manual and auto-focus Nikkor lenses I have owned/used. Since purchasing this lens almost 3 years ago, it has become the standard lens on my Nikon F5.

I travel with the AFS17-35/2.8D and (in my opinion) it's natural companion the AF80-200/2.8D. Both zoom lenses are ranked number 1 and 2 in sharpness respectively.

Amazing lens
This is my favorite lens -- I often carry only it and a 28mm lens while hiking. The wide angle for landscapes, the 105 for detail shots. The 105 is super sharp and useful for way more than just macros, which of course it does flawlessly. The focal range is from mere inches to infinity, which means that the autofocus (on my N80, at least) sometimes takes a sec to work, so I usually manually focus it. In fact, for macro work without a tripod, it's easier to focus by moving the camera closer or further from the subject.
The lens is a great portrait lens -- I have used it outdoors and in the studio for close crops (head & shoulder shots). It has very narrow depth of field, perfect for high-illumination outdoor portraits to keep the background blurry.

Outstanding for macro fans
When you get tired of the poor optical quality of screw-on close-up filters, and are sick of switching extension tubes constantly, this lens is the answer. The ability to focus down to 1:1 (pretty much fill your frame with a quarter) without stopping to add tubes is a huge time saver.

Perfect for flowers and larger insects, this lens is also a flat field and so is excellent for copy work. It's slightly long focal length also makes it a pretty good portrait lens. The best part is that it has that famous Nikon glass, so color saturation and sharpness is simply amazing. Use it with Fuji Velvia (ISO 50) with a diffused flash and you will never regret buying this lens.

...this macro lens delivers
I was a bit apprehensive about using a screw-on attachment, and was concerned that edge sharpness, light falloff, or general inconvenience would be problems. The lens performs very well in all of these areas of concern. This is a fine optical addition to the E-10's fixed zoom, one that Olympus has put considerable thought into. It operates throughout the wide-tele range. It does require setting the macro mode in the control panel, but this only takes a few seconds, and then you can move in on subjects, such as a bee on a flower, dew on a spider's web, or the details on a coin. It would be nice if this sort of accessory was a little less expensive, but it is well worth the price, as it comes in a well made case, with a cover that serves as a lens cap when the lens is mounted on the camera.

Macro-mania
This is a huge lens, and that seems right, because it makes everything huge!

This really is a nice lens. The pictures it takes are sharp and really close up.

Cool!

Medical centres choice!
I pretty much bought this Plasma Purifier without hesitation for my new born baby nephew in Hong Kong, after hearing that some medical centres there have been using it as well. With the bad air pollution there and caring about the air he's going to be breathing in, I feel there is no better choice.

I personally have the much advertised Ionic breeze, and don't think it realy helps that much, although I still keep it on. Don't worry about changing the filter either, 5years is a very long time and putting one in is a breeze.

SIMPLY AWESOME
I have severe allergies and have tried all of the air purifiers on the market with no luck. I decided to plunk down the $$ for this unit and kept my fingers crossed for any improvement with my allergies. Well, this is THE UNIT and I actually feel better.

    Excellent Teleconverter
Works wonderfully with my Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 HSM. Fast, very sharp. Seems to be very well made. A great addition to any fast Sigma lenses.

    Excellent converter.
I use this converter on my Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 HSM Nikon mount. I used it first last fall at the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta and was very impressed with the results. Aperture is reduced to f/4, which is still a bright finder, and autofocus operation is not negatively effected. All electronic functions such as HSM and D coupling still work. Very sharp from my experience.

      Excellent General Purpose Lens
We have a Canon SLR (IX, I think). It's the precursor to the Rebel 2000. Anyways, we had an older Sigma 28-200mm lens that somehow got out of whack. It would no longer focus on close objects. We went to a local retail outlet (Wolf), and bought this to replace our older Sigma 28-200mm lens. The addition of the macro functionality is superb.

We can now take excellent pictures of our son (telephoto) and also landscapes and scenery (wide angle). This is an excellent general purpose lens.

      INCREDIBLE LENS
I ADORE this lens. Sigma has the greatest lenses in the world. ONE lens to shoot MOST EVERYTHING. I enjoy being able to take one lens, the camera, film and a few filters to shoot 98% of everything in the greatest of detail. NO fumbling back and forth for the correct lens. It is the closest thing to an all-in-one (zoom), you can find. The 28/200 is worth the money. Less hassle, Great Quality. My photos are Excellent.

      All in one lens
What I have read in other websites supports Monica's comment,it's all in one lens.

Excellent Tool to achieve better photography
This is an excellent tool to make better photography though the art is in your "eye". It's small and lightweight, and a very useful feature is that it covers almost all lens sizes, which allows you to carry only one lens on your gadget bag so you can make from wide angle to close-up shuts without having to switch between lenses.
      Just Excellent!!!

      Also works with FD200
In my accessory manual for my FD200 it lists this
item. That means it will aslo work with the FD200.

So take heed FD users, this will work for you TOO!

      Awesome for outdoor use!
Pity it didn't come with the camera, but for outdoor use it's a real lifesaver. Especially for those bright days when it's exceptionally hard to see the viewfinder.
