The best I could find for my needs at $Unfortunately, as with many products, there are some down sides. First of all, I sure as hell wouldn't want to drop it because it would probably have a good chance of breaking. And for a $ investment, it would be nice if the recorder came with a carrying case to help protect it. So, the first thing that I did was run down to Best Buy and bought a mp3 case made out of neoprene for $10 that fits great with this compact recorder. Also, it is a bit odd that there is no on/off switch, which does leave the unit on all the time. However, the only power drain problem that I have had is when I use the pause button because it flashes the pause message until you either push play or stop. I suppose that you could take the batteries out if you become worried about excess power drainage. Finally, I could do without the mic jack that comes with it. I feel this would be a great place to to put a D.C. inlet instead. Oh well, I still highly recommend this recorder to anyone that is looking at recording time, quality sound (not bad in long record mode either), and file bins to store different messages in. If I broke mine today, I would not hesitate once to go out and buy another ICD-B25 just like it.
Good Recorder for recording lectures ...

It worksThe reason I give this item only four stars is because I need to physically remove the adapter card from my computer whenever I want to change to a different CompactFlash card. It would have been nice if SanDisk had either provided an ejection mechanism or maybe just make the CF slot a little shallower so that I could grip the CF card to pull it out.
However, that's a minor inconvenience. It works 100%.
Real plug and play readerI usually keeps it plugged in the laptop, and take a backup for my critical files on it. With a 512 MB card, it really takes a lot, and provides me with peace of mind with an online , reliable and fast backup.
With technology, the storage capacity doubles every 12 months , and the MB/$ drops by half every 9 month. Soon, you will be able to buy a 10 GB compact flash card for the price of 512 MB nowadays. And, still , you will use the same reader !!
Great CardReader. Great Price

Samsung140sQD
My take on this cameraI can understand the frustration of the buyer who gave one star because of poor reliability. I have experienced similar cases in the past when buying electronics, but not with this camera. It has been money-well-spent and the first battery I put in, it lasted more than two years (I took at least more than 300 shots with the first battery). If you have more money, I recommend Evoca 170 which gives you more range.
Excellent buy!The pros and cons of this camera in my opinion are as follows:
(+) The camera is very small and extremely lightweight. Samsung has done an excellent job in squeezing loads of features in such a small space.
(+) Variety of shooting modes: I won't list every shooting mode here and take your time (you can check them out in product details), but it has *a lot* of shooting modes for a point-and-shoot camera, including panaromic mode. When taking a panaromic shot, the camera adjusts the viewfinder so that you can actually see the shot in panaromic mode before shooting (didn't see this feature in many cameras).
(+) Flash modes: Evoca140 has a number of flashing modes. To me, the most important 'flash features' were: 1) red-eye reduction, and 2) the ability to take photos at night. Red-eye reduction works perfectly (didn't have a single red-eye in about 30 rolls), and the flash is powerful enough to take good pictures at night. When using a flash is impossible (for example, when taking a photo of a distant object at night), you can use the bulb mode to take beautiful pictures (However, make sure that you have a tripod for this).
(+) Power save: I don't really know if this is a common feature among point-and-shoot cameras, but, I like the 'power save' feature of this camera. It shuts itself down after 30 seconds if there is no user interaction.
(+) The 4x zoom works perfectly: The clarity and color of pictures were perfect in the entire 38-140mm range.
(-) The only drawback in my opinion is the buttons on the top side of the camera (which are used for flash modes / date-time / captioning etc). They are very small and a little hard to push. Forget about adjusting the flash mode when you have your gloves on :) But given the size of the camera, I probably shouldn't complain about the size of the buttons.
To summerize: Given the price of Evoca 140S, it is an excellent buy for a point-and-shoot camera.

Mega Disappointment
I Like ItPros: Really, really bright. There's no hype there. This thing is like two car headlamps strapped together and placed in your hand.
The sealed lead-acid batteries (there are two, one in the bottom "block" and one in the upper part behind the lamps themselves) are strong, reliable, and long-lasting.
Cons: It's somewhat heavy for one-handed operation, but it comes with an optional strap which you can throw over your shoulder to have to keep from supporting the entire weight with your hand. It may sound awkward as I describe it, but it works very well.
The fit-and-finish is only "average". It's made overseas like so many things these days, and some of the labels, ports/connectors feel less than optimal, but I consider this criticism to be a nit. The things I've mentioned are really only aesthetic and don't affect the light's performance.
And a caution: The lens gets very very hot after use, so you need to store it with that in mind until it cools down after several minutes.
Conclusion: Highly recommended. If you need powerful, portable light, this is it.

Batteris Not Needed
Someone please respond/review to this request 4 information.WHAT kind of battery/batteries it takes. Someone please answer w/
a review to SPECIFY WHAT SIZE AND QUANTITY BATTERY is required to
operate this (apparently very nifty) flashlight. For example, the
battery SIZE is "button" (state which model number); the COUNT to
run the light would be ?? # of cells (for example two AAA's, or 2
button cells, whatever...). The reason I'd like to know (before I
buy) is that I'll be "stuck" with a high-maintenance flashlight @
so much money per set of hard-to-get batteries. It's one thing if
the penlight takes AA or even AAA, but when/if it requires a AAAA
or a set of button cells, then the cost and availability of those
specialty batteries becomes a reason to abandon the thought of an
online order for the flashlight itself. Am a virgo... 'Nuff said?

Not Compatible with Nikon Coolpix 8700?
Compatible with Nikon 8700
Perfect performance in several sizes. Now, my collection of 40x CF cards also includes one 256 meg, two 512 meg cards, and two 1 gig cards. CF has become a winner in the media wars, and Lexar cards work in all of my CF compatible devices, and work fast and error free. Other cards I have used have been as reliable, but not as fast in devices that can make use of write speed.
One last note. A Nikon user here panned the Lexar 1 gig card because he had problems getting it to work in his camera. Since I have been a Canon fan for the past 30 years, I don't care much for Nikon (boys will be boys), but I did take the time to ask a Nikon loving friend that lives in Atlanta if he had a problem using Lexar cards with his Nikon trash (he also has a Canon museum, but took the Coolpix route when he went digital). His answer was "no, Lexar cards work perfectly in anything I have that uses CF".
As I expected. Standards are standards, and Lexar is at the top of the game. I suspect either operator error, or a Nikon software glitch that caused the problem reported in that post. By the way, as I write this post, I'm listening to music on a four year old HP Jornada pocket PC that was written on the 1 gig Lexar card.
The Lexar 1 gig card is fast, reliable, and works in both old and new CF devices. It's also cheap compared to the first one I bought.
Enjoy!

The Flash indicator took a while to light up, but we got it going after some persistance. The photos were ok, nothing great though. The results produced fairly natural looking colors, but many of the indoor/nightime shots were slightly blurry and grainy. Many photos appeared under-exposed, like the Flash wasn't bright enough. 3/5 stars.
