god awful
i purchased this camera on this site nearly a year ago. since that time, i've taken it on two major vacations (alaska and paris) and was dissappointed with the results. my friend and travel companion purchased disposable cameras and took better pictures than i did. a month ago, i went to montana on vacation and took pictures with the evoca. each one turned out with a bright halo like ring of light surrounding the boarder of the photo.....50% of the pictures were completely indistinguishable.

i tested it again in las vegas with the same halo like result. so much for the high price tag and fancy lens....

Unfortunately, multi-function can be a minus for some folks
One of the best features about this camera is that it offers many different features and settings for different conditions and purposes. Examples: Conditions - weather, sunny versus cloudy, dark, night, and on and on. Purposes - Landscape shots? Continuous shots for your kid playing soccer? And more.

One must be careful to set the control dial on a appropriate setting otherwise you may get strange results like Mr. Barber did - I am pretty sure that's what he did, not reading the instructions and trying different things without paying attention. (Sorry if I am jumping the gun, Mr. Barber ^_^) For instance, red-eye effect does not work under certain special settings. Blurry images like Mr. Barber had is a classic example of taking normal shots on landscape setting. (I often see people make this mistake when traveling, going back and forth between simple portrait shots and landscape shots)

This is a great camera, which combines the modern technology of precise motor mechanism and digital elements with one of the most highly regarded lenses in the industry for its quality and history. Photo quality of this Samsung camera is immaculately fine and sharp, filled with pleasing colors to viewers' eyes. The greater thing is that its price is very competitive when compared to its similarly equipped cameras from other brands.

Great camera...great price!
I've had this camera for six months, and it's been nothing less than perfect! Terrific zoom length, very compact size, and quality features, such as the Schneider Optics lens.

I've yet to have had one problem, and have shot many rolls of film. Another reviewer (Mr. Barber), must have received a defective product. A 1-star review of this camera just doesn't make sense, and to say that a disposable took better photos, is patently absurd!

Samsung includes a 3-year extended warranty with this model. Buy this camera without hesitation!

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE SHOTTING
Just a heads-up to those thinging about these cameras. DON'T USE THEM FOR ANY IMPORTANT PHOTOS! These cameras are used cases with new film added. I don't not recommed them, they are cheap, but be aware. I've had problems with 2 different cameras(I probably wouldn't buy again, but maybe), and wish I'd read a review like this before taking them to Mardi Gras...oh well, who wants to remember a swamp tour in an fan boat anyway.

Pretty ggod for the price
I purchased for a wedding and these took as good as pictures as the Kodak Wedding pack cameras that we had purchased also. I highly recommend.

Not so plug and play.
The first machine I pluged this into it work well. It came up as a card reader, but hey I was able to put some files on it. I have not gotten it to work on any of the 6 computers I have tried it on since. Old, new, win 98 (which you have to install the drivers for it), WINme, WinXP, it didn't matter, it never worked. I have Made sure that the USB ports were Enabled, and the whole nine yards. Now I'm trying to get technical support and the only page of the manufactures web site that is down(and has been for 3 days now) is the support section. It has been miserable, and I was so looking forward to it.

Does the job
Very easy to use. Drag and drop files between computers. Would love more space but good balance between price and size. Just enough to manage key files. Great for getting to a printer from a laptop that is off of the network for example.

not compatible with mac os 10.2 jaguar
if you have the new mac os 10.2 dont buy this reader.

Quick and Easy
I am pleased with the Zio CompactFlash media reader. It is simple and easy to use, out of the box. The benefits of reading the card directly into the computer from the card without having to attach the camera itself include:
1) I'm not using up the camera battery
2) I don't need the optional AC power cord (a significant savings)
3) It is easy to share the contents of the FlashCard with friends without having to give up the use of the camera while they are downloading the pictures to their PC
I certainly recommend this product for any digital camera user.

OK
I bought this camera as a beginer, and it was a bit to much advanced. It does have some very handy features, like 3 flash modes, but it is much to complexed for beginers. For advanced people, it doesnt have all the bells and whistles you would want (my neighbour, who is crazy about photography said that)

Good AutoFocus for a great price
I have been a satisfied Minolta camera user since 17 years. I had bought this camera for about $50 and then used it for 3 years after which I lost it. Every indoor/outdoor picture that I had taken with it was good. For twenty bucks, this is an excellent valued camera with good features.

A review
I bought this camera as a gift for myself on a trip to Cardiff. It was only 60£ on sale(Gadgetshop). And while it's not a professional camera, it's very nice for snapshots. I have found that if you shoot into the sun, it flairs badly and the sensor is overwhelmed in direct sunlight, But the camera does take reasonable photos. The camera suffers jpeg compression problems on large areas of similar colors, But on complex scenes they do not appear. The flash is only effective up to 12 feet. Night photography is not what this camera is designed for. But I like the features, The camera has a video output that can perform a slide show in PAL or NTSC formats, and uses SD/MMC flash memory. This contrasts with other less than 100£ cameras that need the batteries to maintain the photos. The movie mode is also a quite nice feature even without sound. And best of all the Camera does not require any drivers for a Mac using OS-X. One other note, the lens displays no noticeable barrel, or pincushion effects and no noticeable unsharp areas along the edges of the images.

Nice compact camera
I bought one of these last September, and really like it, as do my friends. It's very small and compact, and takes decent photos, enough for most snap happy people. I agree about the night time stuff. I dark light, the camera has to be a certain distance away. Too close and everything is white, too far away, and there's little to be seen, but you soon get used to it.

Very good in sunlight, although it does put a hue on the picture that some people might find annoying, but I kinda like it. Works very well with Mac OS X and iPhoto, and also compatible with XP without drivers but don't know what software is like.

The card crashed on my vacation
I bought this card because of its capacity and it crashed on me during my vacation. I got a replacement card when I returned home. Luckily there was not a complete failure and I only lost a couple of pictures.

I have a Viking Card, which is really good.

No problems.....
I have owned two of these cards for around three months now, and not had a single problem with the cards. The ease of use and the reliability of the card is great. I waited to write a review of these cards to make sure that they opporated correctly and they do. Great price and great preformance.

Verbatim Travel Case for CompactFlash and SmartMedia
Made by VERBATIM CORPORATION
  • Holds 2 cards
  • Easily transport your memory
  • Protects your memory cards

Not for Smart Media
Although the name of this case says it holds Smart Media cards, it is not really designed to do so. Smart Media cards do not fit in the two compartments of the case; so if they are set inside the case they will just flop around and potentially get damaged. The case seems to be designed to hold only compact flash cards; however I do not have any compact flash cards, so I cannot say for sure if they would fit.
The case itself is very nice and sturdy for whatever does fit in it.

Protecting Your Media Cards Is Essential
This TRAVEL CASE FOR COMPACT FLASH & SMART MEDIA CARDS from Verbatim Corporation is similar to the ones that come with some media cards. Unfortunately when purchasing some brands of media cards, a useless vinyl sleeve or nothing is included to store and protect the card. Media cards are sturdy but not indestructible. The thin metal contacts must be protected from damage to be readable and writeable. If a media card is unintentionally flexed, irreparable damage will occur. A protective case is an essential accessory especially as the MB size of media cards increases. Now that 128MB and 256MB cards are becoming more common, you risk losing hundreds of pictures by damaging a media card not properly protected. These cases from Verbatim are ideal since they are sturdy and hold 2 cards each. Now I'm able to remove a memory card from the camera and place it in the protective case while the next card to be used is still protected and readily available.

Buy an iRiver ihp 120
First, I want to explain why I started off enthusiastic, but returned the 220 after a week.

1) My simpletech flash card, which works with many other devices, couldn't be read by the Gmini

2) Battery life was around 6 hours

3) The screen was poor, even with contrast settings and backlight

4) Playlists got mangled when used with the resume function

5) Recording using the internal mic picked up loud screen noise

I just replaced it with an iRiver ihp-120. It is my third player, and I think I might keep it.

Here are the properties that the iRiver shares with the Gmini:

-same volume/weight
-browse by folder and connect as external hard drive
-record either by line in or internal microphone

However, the iRiver adds:

-true 16 hour playback, more than double what I had with my Gmini
-a full functioned remote with screen
-built in FM tuner

Now, you can't dump CF cards directly onto the iRiver. However, Macally makes a product which will let you do that. See http://www.macally.com/new/new_syncbox.html for details

I checked out http://www.misticriver.ws for a while before I made my decision. There is lots of good information there.

Best Value for Price
I selected the Archos on the basis that I could also use the unit as an external Hard Drive. For the price, the Archos GMini 120 gave the largest hard drive capacity when compared to the iPod and the players from Dell and Samsung. I had no problems with the unit being recognized by Win XP, and I upgraded the unit's system software from v1.2 to v1.5 with no difficulty. The controls and menus are functional and logical although the buttons are slightly hard. My player runs 8.5 hours on a full charge, but I get occasional error messages during the last half-hour of use when playing WMA music files (it says there is something wrong with the file). The included ear buds are good, but I prefer my Sony ear buds which give a richer sound. Fit and finish is adequate. The hard drive inside is extremely quiet. I am not interested in the extra cost features so that has not been a problem for me. Overall, this has been a happy experience so far.

Just what I wanted - Works Great!
I spent weeks researching mp3 players and ended up with the GMini 220. I wanted both the music and Photo wallet features. I travel for extensive time without a laptop and needed something to down load pictures to. The sound quality is great and the photo wallet works great. I've had the unit for 5 months now and it has worked perfectly. I would buy another one (or maybe the GMini 400 series when that comes out)

Doesn't work with Windows Mobile 2003
Card worked with PPC2002, but when I upgraded my Dell Axim X5 to Windows Mobile 2003, the card stopped working. Have followed all the advice on Linksys' website to no avail. Tech Support does not respond by email or telephone. Try another card with Windows Mobile 2003.

It works mostly
Got this card for my Casio E-125 PocketPC. Fits quite snuggly in the CF slot, but it goes in with a little patience. The drivers out of the box said that it did not work with the "connected device". So I downloaded the slightly newer driver from the website. The new driver installed and I was able to set the SSID during installation. But the Linksys Wireless CF Control panel doesn't work keeps saying that I'm missing a progam or library. (I've reinstalled numerous times to no avail)

I can however connect, so the only access control I can turn on is MAC level from the access point (USR8011). I suspect WEP is setup in the control panel that I can't start on the E-125.

Drains the battery significantly as well. Equivalent to running some media playback, and having the screen on all the time (cause that's pretty much what you'll be doing).

Connects fast! Maybe a second or two and the card is connected.
So it works adequately, I just don't know if I'm missing anything with the lack of WEP.

Works with a little effort
When first installing the card into a WindowsCE 3.0-based Casio E-125, it complained it could not find "PRISMSTA.exe or one of its components". The on-line chat system with Linksys technical support was helpful, but their only response was to send Beta drivers which didn't help. It turns out, at least on my system, PRISMSTA.exe was looking for a needed library file called 'mfcce211.dll', a Microsoft foundation classes dll for Windows CE 2.11. Once I located the file on the web and placed it in the same folder as the PRISMSTA.exe file(I expect it would also work when placed in the Windows subdirectory), the configuration utility worked and I was able to configure the card for my home network. I purchased the card through Amazon and hopefully this will help anyone else with the same problem. All my other 802.11 devices are Linksys, work great, and this card is no exception. It appears the only weakness was in the installation program that one would expect to verify the presence of other files the driver/utility depends upon.
