Are you looking for a reliable compact multi card reader? Look no further. This usb 2.0 card reader reads and writes CompactFlash (CF), Secure Digital (SD), Multimedia (MMC) and SmartMedia cards plus Memory Sticks and IBM Microdrives. I've used the CF, SD, and SmartMedia slots many times and have never had any problems. I use it on my Windows XP, and the card reader uses Mass Storage Compliance technology so there is no need for drivers. Just plug it in and transfer your files faster than you can dream of compared to direct link from your digi cam or pda.

With so many different gadget choices, you can never figure out which one YOU need to help upload those pics you took!
The Adapter is a PCMCI card that you plug your compactflash card into. So if you have a PCMCI slot on your computer, this is your BETTER CHOICE.
If you don't, then the reader is for you.

Sturdy and solid case. Only negative is round shape and relative bulk, but that's what makes it sturdy.

Although this little guy works very well so far as a SmartMedia card reader, it is not also a 4-port USB hub as advertised. I have not tried the CF reader functionality, as I do not own any CF media.

Plug and play - all I did was insert the USB plug into one of my slots and 10 seconds later it was installed (all by itself - no drivers from the CD needed) and XP prompted for reboot - that was it - 30 seconds and it was done

Good quality product. Works faster than any reader. Readers are painful to carry, plug etc.

This is a quite a solution. If you can afford another memory other than the one in your dig cam, this can act as your backup hardrive for important files. that;s how useful this is !!!!

The Amazon product description is erroneous. This 4-in-1 PC Card adapter for flash memory cards can do Secure Digital (SD), Multimedia Card (MMC), MemoryStick (MS), and the older SmartMedia cards, but not the larger CompactFlash (CF) card. I have yet to find a PC Card adapter that can do both SD and CF formats.

Otherwise this is a good, solid adapter which turns your flash memory card into an external drive on a laptop PC. Just insert the flash memory card into the adapter, then plug the adapter into your laptop, presto! the memory card appears in your My Computer or Windows Explorer as an external removable disk, and you can do all the copying and moving you want.

this is great! TRUE plug and play with both MAc(both 9 and 10) and Win(all versions 2000 and up)

so much better than a pny one - which isn't true plug and play at all even with windows xp you still have to install the drivers from the cd =(

I have couple of sd memory cards and they all work great with this product..Worth to buy..

This product has been serving me well for a couple of days now and it fufills all of my needs as a photographer on the go. It's 3.2 gig hard drive is enough room for as many pictures as I can take at any shoot or vacation. I love it, yet it has an external battery (made of double-a's) and is made a little cheaply. For the price, thuis blows away all of its competitors and is just what I needed.

I use this card reader with a Simpletech 256 MB SD card and my Canon SD10 (Digital Elph). The card lives inside my laptop, and it essentially creates a SD port. I don't own any of the other types of media that it supports, but for my SD card it is perfect. I don't have to worry about keeping track of the messy USB cable that came with the camera--I just pull the SD card out of the camera and slip it into my laptop, and Windows XP immediately recognizes it. Couldn't be easier. It also uploads the images to my computer MUCH faster than the USB (1.0) connection.
