An excellent reader.
Great Compact Flash Reader, as Fast as USB AllowsInstallation is a breeze, if you have a recent operating system like Win 2K or Win XP. You just hook the cable to your computer and it is ready to go. The reader comes with a driver CD for older operating systems.
It is also easy to use. You insert the compact flash card in the reader and it is available as a drive that can be read by any program. You simply copy or move the files you want. Select the eject option in the explorer to make sure the changes are synced and then pop the card out.
This compact flash reader is better than some others I have used. Other ones required special USB drivers that had a tendency to get themselves wedged and be unable to read a card until you rebooted. This reader has worked flawlessly so far. I highly recommend this product.
ALL computer devices should work this way!A few product details: This is a simple product -- there are no little lights and no eject buttons. You stick the card in and you pull it out yourself. If you want to see if you have a card in it, just look! Access speed is fast -- fast enough that I didn't care that it didn't have an access indicator light. It seems as fast as, if not faster than, my USB zip drive. And DEFINITELY much faster than a floppy! There are no instructions either, unless it's in the software CD. I didn't check. But who needs one with something this simple? It's as easy to use as a floppy or zip drive. This is how plug and play should be every time!

Works well.
This card's a winnerYou can transfer all your pictures over to the hard disk at USB speed, open them right off the card to preview them, even delete those you don't want before transferring. There's no need to fire up the camera to do all this.
When you've transferred what you want, delete the files from the card and you're back in business. I use this on my home computer, but have also used it on a notebook computer in the field.

so so
Good product--Great value
My computer is worth using now!I didn't know that RAM can make such a big difference, even if you aren't using big programs. Easy to install, a monkey could do it. I upgraded my system from 128 MB RAM to 384 MB RAM with this card and my computer is easily twice as fast as before. If your computer is slow, just get more RAM :)

A Much Needed Drive for the New Macs OwnersAnyway, this drive's design is great. It takes up very little space and matches perfectly with graphite iMacs/Macs. And it's USB powered, so there's no worry of an extra plug. The only negative is its somewhat high price.
Three in one- certainly is convenient! As others noted, it installs right out of the box with the enclosed CD-ROM. Had no problems with Windows 98 operating system, despite a warning on the documentation that it might. My box came with no paper manual- ALL the documentation is digital. All three new drives were recognized by my computer immediately after installation.
For MAC users without a floppy who still share files with others (and NO, alas, ZIP drives never were nor will they ever be ubiquitous), these are ideal. But, I've had problems with my floppy on my home desktop, plus the laptop I use has no floppy, so I can see this being portable and usable on both machines.
Highly RecommendThe reviews I read were written by Mac owners, so their information was a little confusing to me. I contacted VST tech support by phone and the technicians were very courteous and helpful.
The unit is really easy to use. All I had to do was to slide my compact flash card in the slot, go into my "Pichture It!" program, click on the drive indicated, and all the pictures downloaded in record time. This Tri-Media reader is one of the best products I've ever bought!

Not Worth the Price PremiumThe core of all the cards (known in technical terms as the "controller") are made by only a few DRAM manufacturers. Those handful of DRAM manufacturers then sell the "controllers" to the major flash card manufacturers (i.e. SanDisk, Kodak, Olympus, and Viking). The flash card manufacturers then simply throw some plastic casings on the controllers, slap on a label, and ship the cards. As long as the flash card manufacturer is reputable, has a good warranty, and has been around for over 5 years; you will be just fine.
What I am trying to get at? I simply want to make it clear that you should not buy a card based solely on the fact it is made by Kodak. Check the pricing against the other major manufacturers (i.e. SanDisk, Viking, etc.) and then make your decision.
No problem here
useful reliable memory cardsThis card can hold about 65 pictures in the best-quality JPG format from my DC4800 camera. When shooting in the highest-quality mode (TIFF format), I can get only about 10 pictures on this card. For those times when I shoot in the TIFF mode, I bought the bigger 128meg Kodak card which holds twice as much.
I have a Digital Wallet 6-gig storage device onto which I download pictures from the chip when I'm on the road, and as should be expected - this Kodak card works fine there too.
These cards come pre-formatted for Windows but you can reformat them for Mac computers.
These great Kodak cards are reliable ...

Great quality and capacity
KODAK Compact flash card excellent value up to 300 pix's !!With a 1.2 mega-pixel camera you can get up to 300 pictures (fair quality), 2.2 mega-pixel camera 140+ pictures (excellent quality up to 8x10) & 3.1 mega-pixel camera 100 pictures (outstanding quality greater than 8x10).
If you have the KODAK Personal Picture Maker 200 (ink-jet printer - see my review) you can insert the 96MB Card directly and print pictures or with a Zipdrive attached via a fast USB cable from the Maker 200 down load the pictures and save then. This allows you to re-use the 96MB Card for more photo shooting.
NOTE: With the KODAK 96MB Picture Card you have the ability to shoot, edit & delete photos as you go. Bring extra camera batteries because that will be the first to run out!!!!!
This Picture Card is a great value and 140+ photos are plenty especially when you can edit and delete digital photos as you go. Enjoy!!

I purchased the 40x 256MB Lexar CompactFlash and it works no faster than the 8x 16MB Lexar CF which came w/ my Nikon 4300. I only found out about needing a WA-enabled camera after reading the back of the CF package. I find it very misleading that this information is not included in the product description at any of the online stores i shopped.
I'm sure the Write-Accelerated cards are great, as long as you have the right camera.
Great card and fast for saving images!
Lexar 24x CompactFlash Cards1.) Images are saved faster.
2.) Battery life improves as a result.
I am extremely happy with this card and am buying a second to replace a pile of smaller, slower cards.

Great Combination of Features/PriceAs a Mac user, I've seen a lot of players that needed Windows software or drivers. Not the Lexar - it needs no drivers or special software. You just plug in to a USB port, then drag music files in and out. Simple!
I wasn't too sure about the single "joystick" control, but have since come to the conclusion that it's an elegant way of handling things. With that single control, you can easily and intuitively move between different songs, play modes, EQ settings and more.
The sound quality is absolutely great, though the ear buds were useless for me (a side note: was I sick from school the day they taught people how to jam ear buds into your ears? I can't make them stay in!) which is the only reason I've given the product 4 stars instead of 5. I've substituted the very inexpensive & lightweight SONY MDR-WO8 headphones, and it's a great combination.
A side note: I've got tinnitus (a condition in which you have constant ringing/whistling in the ears), and frequently need to have "white noise" to mask the unpleasant sounds. I've put several sound effects tracks on this player - white noise, rainstorm, babbling brook - and can use the player anytime and anywhere I need. Dedicated in-the-ear systems for tinnitus sufferers run hundreds of dollars, so the Lexar is a bargain (plus, there's still room for plenty of my favorite music!). Highly recommended.
Easy to use, inexpensive, and decent features.Transfering music is as easy as plugging it in. It is automatically picked up by the operating system as a removable drive - no drivers, no CD, works on Mac OS X, Windows, Linux, you name it.
The case is durable and fits in my hand well, but could be a bit more substancial. Navigation is fairly intuitive with one joystick that controls all functions.
Sound quality is great... I can't complain about the earbud headphones that it comes with. The backlit screen is easy on the eyes and battery life is pretty decent off of 1 AAA battery (included).
Room for improvement: I'd love a belt clip... the lanyard doesn't do much for me when working out.
Great product!Pros:
-Ease of use, no installation of software
-Great volume varience
-One button control works quite well
-Even though it is USB 1.1, files trasfer very fast, at about 3 seconds for a 4 mb song.
-Good sound quality
-Back-lit display can be seen perfectly in the dark
-Scrolling text display, songs can be played in random order, displays battery life, and more!
Cons:
-Doesn't seem like the sturdiest thing in the world; I wouldn't drop it
-Slightly bulky, but it will still fit easily in your pocket
Conclusion: A great product! You perhaps could get more than 128mb for the price, but this unit seems to be on sale quite often. 128mb seems to be the threshold for a good mp3 player, as I have this baby filled with about 29 songs.

panorama gets addictive
Might not be worth the price premiumThis is a nice feature, but not a feature most of us use often. If you are going to purchase multiple SmartMedia cards, you might be able to do with just one or two Olympus brand cards - especially since they cost more than other brands. I use two 32Mb other brand cards, and save my two 8Mb Olympus brand cards for when panorama shots present (since you can switch the cards out at anytime - unlike traditional camera film).
Worth the price premium!
