Partially Dead on Arrival
I am sure this is a good product, but the one I brought did not work properly. It could read and write Compact Flash and Smart Media cards, but when I inserted a Memory Stick or a Secure Digital card I was always prompted to insert a disc in the drive. That is, it did not recognize the latter formats.

This must be a sample defect, but it was disappointing and I returned the drive.

It does exactly what it's suposed to
I bought this card reader as a replacement for another one, which is no longer compatible with windows xp. This card reader is extremely easy to set up. With xp, all you need to do is plug it in. With windows 98, you just need to install the drivers and then plug it in. Setup takes mayber five minutes. I have only a few complaints. For some reason, it creates a new directory for each slot, four in all. It is kind of odd, and it takes a while to figure out which new drive name goes with each slot. Another thing which worries me is the piece of plastic seperating the slots for SD cards and memory stick cards from the smart media card slot is extremely thin. I keep worrying im going to break it off. Another oddity of this drive is its two part usb cord. A small, two inch long cord comes off of the drive. It then plugs into a longer usb cord. While i can see the advantages of this system since the small piece folds up into the reader, it is just a bit weird. Other than these gripes, it is a very solid piece of equipment, which performs exactly as specified.

Simple, Fast, Reliable Media Reader
I've been using Lexar Media products for years.

I bought SmartMedia memory and a little diskette PC interface years ago from Lexar directly. I used it reliably for 4 years to transfer pictures from my digital camera to my PC via the diskette reader.

Six months ago I bought the RW017 to upload photos from my Secure Digital Cards and upload/download data/pictures to my Clie memory stick. This small green USB-connected unit is a charm.

The cable is very secure and has a very usefull connector just outside the reader box. Smart design!

The included software install created multiple drives on my PC for each media type it supports. This is a bit strange but has caused me no problems other than when I go to copy data from one of the reader drives I have to hunt down the list of "removable drives" in Windows Explorer to find the one that has my memory in it. No big deal.

I've used with my Compaq notebook [Win XP Home] as well as my Gateway desktop [Win 2000 Pro] with no problems.

This memory goes fast but for an mp3 player its worth theprice. This is so much cheaper than the rio or any others and it worksbetter than them. I can't belive that it was this great. I love it and i suggest u buy it.

Excellent product I own just bought the second one
This product is great. I use it with flashpath adapter to download jpg files from my Olympus c2500L camera. I bought the second one and never had any glitches it work flawlessly. Now I can take upto 60 pictures without having to download the files to my laptop.

This is what to get with a SmartMedia device
Although "New Media Technology" SmartMedia cards cost less than name brand cards, they are functionally identical.

I have found that the most effective way to use a SmartMedia card, like this one, is with an external USB card reader. (I use a Feiya USB unit... it works seamlessly and costs less than the "New Media Technology" version because it doesn't read CompactFlash.) These readers are the absolute fastest method of transferring photos/files/MP3s or whatever.

But please note that 64MB SmartMedia cards will be widely available soon. Because the 64MB cards' cost-per-megabyte is currently lower than the 32's, the price of these 32MB cards might be forced down.

A+ for product, F for rebate
I've been using Lexar sticks for over a year with
a Sony digital camera. I've never had a problem with
a stick going bad, nor have I ever lost a single photo.

Although I crossed my t's and dotted my i's and sent
the rebate form in weeks before the 'must be received
by' date, the envelope was returned unopened, stamped
PROGRAM CLOSED. Not nice.

Woks Great!!!
I had slight confusion whether to choose the sony 64 MB memory stick, which is nearly the same price or this one, which has twice the memory capacity of the previous one. I choose this one for the better deal and to add to my surprise J&R Electronics shipped it so quickly(You guys Rock!!!). This one comes par with sony memory media in every field. So why choose the one with lesser memory capacity. Choose this one and feed your camera with some memory space!

Ninguna diferencia.

Great Camcorder with abundant features.
I have been using this camcorder little over than 1 year. This has great features especially optical and digital zoom. Never used EIS, MagicVu features but I am sure I will someday. Easy accessibility to the DV cassette (to remove and replace). Ergonomic features like zoom, record buttons. Blank search is really helpful. Memory card that comes with the cam is useless and also the pictures are not that good. Have to buy i.Link interface cable to transfer videos to Pc as its taking too long with USB cable. Battety life is less but you have to buy a spare one. Overall this camcorder is a good one and worth to buy than a Sony which has less features for the same price.

Why buy a siny
I got a good deal on this minidv. I got it from CompUSA for $199 it was a demo and their last model. I compared it to sony trv 19,22, jvc, canon zr series and optura 10. I like the way that the panasonic feels. It feels like consideration of was put into this camcorder as to how it would fit in the hand. The videos look absolutly great, colors are vibrant. The ZOOM MIC works really well and helps the sound too. It has MAGICVU whiich it their version of nightvision. It works wonderful. You can see at night. It is equal if not better than sony's nightvison. Only one problem. The MAGICVU button is on the side of the lense. I thought it was in a akward place.
There are a few accessories that are avaliable for it like, 2x telephoto lense $45, batteries from 75min 9.5 hours. I picked up a 75 min battery for $32 at walmart. The 9.5 hour battery is $95 at walmart and other online stores, additional lighting is avaliable and expensive from $69-$229. Since mine didn't have a charger, I picked that up at best buy for $49.99. The camcorder is awsome. I recommend it to everyone

Very New
Batteries, accessories and disks still hard to find. Product works well. Disk and card option neat for quick computer interface. Simple controls, PHd not rquired. Pricey but seems to have the bells to be worth it. Small DVD's a plus. Fast recording speed. No negatives.

Does not work with my Polaroid PDC 640 digital camera!!!
My camera came with a 2MG card. After ordering the Sandisk 32MB card for my camera, I found out, from Polaroid, my camera won't recognize anthing larger than an 8MG Smart Media card. It would have been nice if they'd put that somewhere in the documentation.

So then I ordered this card, and guess what? It won't work either. This card is a 3V while the one that came with the camera is 3.3V. With the card that was too big the camera showed "media failure", but with this card, the camera won't even power up.

Another reveiwer claims this card works with his Polaroid PDC640 digital camera, but I'd advise you to check the card that came with it before ordering this one! If your card reads 3.3V, don't waste your time.

For Those Of Us With Older Cameras
My old Polaroid PDC-640 won't handle anything bigger than 8MB; (and Polaroid certainly didn't make *that* very clear) so this is a great buy for anyone who's still "stuck in the late '90s" with regards to their digital camera.

Snap 'em up while they're still available, nothing says you can't have more than one!

Great Item
This SmartMedia memory card is an excellent purchase because of the cost and dependablity.

They dont even make these this small anymore
16 MB grow up and get a 128 MB

Too Small and Too Expensive!
While the card worked fine functionally, it is simply too small to use in a normal environment. When I use it in my digital camera it only gives me a few "good" quality pictures. The card only holds a few songs in my MP3 player, too.

Anyone considering this card should look at other options before purchasing it. Take a look at the 32MB and 64MB cards.

P.S. The price from Viking on equivalent products are better. Take a look at (SSFDC3/16, SSFDC3/32, SSFDC3/64).

Great for Cameras unable to use the larger capacity cards.
I just ordered a couple more of these before they don't make them anymore! As to the comment about 'grow up and get 128MB', the reason these are still available is that a lot of older perfectly usable digital camera's are unable to address more than 16MB. My Olympus being one of them. This is a known problem with Smartmedia. Personally I don't mind having a bunch of smaller cards anyway, since this way I don't have all my eggs in one basket. 16MB on a 1.3 Megapixel Camera still gives just over 70 pictures in the High Resolution mode anyway so it's not like the capacity isn't decent.

Don't buy the 3rd party reader
It worked only some of the time, usually my PC wouldn't recognize the hardware. I sent it back, seller was very accomodating. Now I've ordered a genuine Sony reader.

Great - once I found the driver software.
The Strastechnologies 3rd-party card is a bargain and worked flawlessly ONCE I figured out something that the product descriptions (even on the Sony brand) don't reveal. Specifically, if your PC is running Windows® XP (Home or Pro), ME, 2000, or 98SE operating systems, this card won't work without the installation of driver software that is not included in the package! It took me a lot of research to get the correcct software directly from Sony. To save you the trouble, here is the link: http://ciscdb.sel.sony.com/cgi-bin/swu-install.pl?upd_id=1277&PASSVAL2=SMB and the driver file is MSFMTINST210.EXE. I would have given it 5 stars if this information had been enclosed. Go for the bargain!

Great product !!
This is a terrific product for laptop computer users on the go. I was carrying around an external 6-in-1 media reader, which took up a bit of space in my bag.

This PC Card adapter is slim and easily fits in a pocket. I inserted it into an available PC Card (also known as PCMCIA) slot in my XP laptop and it installed itself and read the files on my card immediately. (Although it recommended a reboot to work, I didn't need to.)

I was concerned it would only read Sony brand memory sticks, but it has no problem reading Lexar. File transfer speed is pretty quick also... the images came in faster than when I used my external media reader.

All in, another excellent Sony product. Recommended.

Card was unusable after 1 use
I took about 10 shots with my canon digital rebel, uploaded to my laptop and it was fine. Put it back into the camera and it wouldn't read it. Nor did my card reader. Sent it back for a amazon replacement, but they refunded me instead. Maybe its because it's...more expensive now...

It's a ok card but there are much better once
I own a Canon 10D with a Sandisk ultra 512 and a lexar 512 12x.

The lexar is just slow basicly i would say go for the fast ultra 2.
But the lexar works fine only it takes time.

Very acceptable Nikon d70 performance
The 12x is the slowest you can use AND be satisfied in 6MP mode. You can get four frames out @3fps before you have to wait for the buffer to write to memory in the RAW+JPEG mode. Otherwise you can shoot @ just under 1fps until the memory is full. In JPEG Fine and JPEG Normal you get 11 and 16 shots off, respectively, before this ram slows you down to just above 1fps. In JPEG Basic mode I quit at 49 shots out @3fps but never filled the buffer. Therefore, if you typically are shooting less than 1 frame per second in 6MP mode this ram will never let you down and it will handle the occasional sporting event.

    Worst Flash Drive to buy
This is the worst flash drive ever someone can buy. I bought two of them for my personal use and both of them failed to work between USB2.0 and USB1.1. I've two computers at my home with one being USB2.0 and the other one being USB1.1. This flash drive miserably failed to work. Every time, I switch between the USB systems, the flash drive would have to be formatted.

This is more nuisance then ever.

I would never by a flash drive from Memorex ever in my life and I would certainly inform my friends about the same.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at prsiva@hotmail.com

    Works for me.
I had a bit of trouble getting the drive to be recognized on some of the older PCs at work but soon figured that out.

It takes some getting used to but I now use it all the time to transfer the data I used to carry on floppies and some CDs.

If you can't get it to work for you, stick to floppies!

    among the best jumps
I have two of these memorex jumps "thumbdrive." Both have worked fine and taken a lot of abuse as well!
To the reveiwer below who had trouble with their USB, perhaps you a a newbie. I suggest you check your machine. I have used a dozen different brands (memorex, sandisk, lexar, etc) and never had trouble with a single one or machine pc or mac, usb 1, 1.2 or 2.0 and any drive. perhaps you twisted it while taking it out.

In any case memorex support is great, I had one drive I crushed in a door (my fault and a strong enough impact to also destroy may car alarm gizmo) and they sent me a new one! I have had otehr brands (ironically the lexar "sport"), where the keychain holder broke, memorex is actually more study than most)

Memorex jumps are also true usb 2.0 and there are a few cheap ones that aren't.

How could I give you my opinion on the product that I have not received?

    Great Memory Card
I use it in my digital camera. There isn't much to say about it. I use it, it saves my pictures, I like it.

    SanDisk 16 MB
I use this product in my Casio EM-500. It gives me a total of 32 megs of ram which is enough for now. The card has proven it's reliability to me which I use for backup. I will probably increase my ram later. Remember the first rule concerning any kind of pc, ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR DATA.
