Avoid Lexar at all costs.
the knock-off works great.
Never had a problem with it...Well, the nervousness was unfounded! I've used this stick heavily since I bought it a few months ago, and has never failed me. It performs just as well as the smaller sony stick that came with the camera.
I'd also highly recommend the memory stick reader Lexar makes (you'll find it here on Amazon as well). I bought it after loosing the cable that connects my camera to my computer (the memory reader is *cheaper* than that single cable, if you can believe it!) and it's *better* because you don't waste batteries transferrring your pictures, and there's no cables to mess with when it's time to upload your pictures - just pop the mem stick into the reader that's always hooked up...
End result - Very happy with this memory stick and other Lexar products. They've worked flawless for me so far :)

- Completely Hot-Swappable

- Weighs less than 2 ounces ? roughly the size of a credit card!
- Embedded USB 2.0 cable inside card reader

Wonderful Product
Yes it is
Works fine on Win2000-SP3I did not install the included driver which is for Windows 98. The unit gets detected every time it's plugged in. I also tested with different brands and types of media: Viking 512MB compact flash, Memorex 128MB secure digital, Lexar 64MB memory stick and SanDisk 64MB smart media -- all were able to read and write.
The built-in USB connector can be tucked away inside the device case (a nice touch). A 3 ft USB extension cord and a vinyl pouch (case) are included.
If you are brand conscious, take a look at the Imation FlashGo!2.0. I think both of these units come from the same factory as they are the exact same size, except for the slots placed in a different arrangement. I have both units and they've performed reliably well so far. The Imation unit is more expensive though. I've also tried the SanDisk USB2.0 6-in-1 reader -- that gave me a lot of problems: froze my system and couldn't get detected, so I returned it.

- Hi-Speed USB 2.0 certified for fastest data transfer
- Backwards compatible with all USB 1.1 ports
- Easy to install and use; true plug and play

Mac ProblemsUsing this on my Mac was another story. I have USB 2.0 and 1.1 on my G4 (10.3.4).
USB 1.1 worked as expected, slow but sure.
USB 2.0 would lock-up when copying large amounts of data. Small files would copy ok.
I replaced this reader with a SanDisk 8-in-1 Reader (SDDR-88-A15) and it works great with my Mac and PC.
Compact Flash Cards used: SanDisk Ultra II 512MB, Kingston 128MB, Simpletech 128MB.
Good Inexpensive ReaderPlease note that the comment above, that says that you probably won't see an improvement in speed if you don't use high speed compact flash cards is untrue. I see a significant improvement in speed when reading my Lexar 4x compactflash in this USB 2.0 reader compared to my old USB reader.

254 shots with 8 Megpixel Camera
Ignore the negative review:This is a CF II card...that means it's for cameras and devices with a CF II slot...
In any event, this is an excellent card. Very fast with my Cannon 300D (Rebel). Uses minimal power, with no moving parts. I've never had a problem with any read / write operation. I'm getting 287 6 MegaPixel images...hopefully enough for most people! Overall very happy with this card.

MEMORY CRASHED
Inexpensive and eficcient
It works great
This reader is great if:
1. You actually need to use more than just a compact flash or smartmedia card reader: this reader is also equipped to handle Memory Sticks, Secure Digital, MultiMediaCards, and IBM Microdrives.
2. You're planning on using this reader for your desktop and not a laptop.
This card may not be the best choice if you plan to travel (or just go mobile with your laptop) based on its size and weight.
