I got this card to work with a SmartMedia adapter for my Handspring PDA.

I haven't had any problems at all while using this item. The extra 64 megs of space is great. My only problem with it could be the slow speed of the card, but that could be due to the fact that it is attached to a PDA.

Rating: A definite buy

My friend got this product for his rio 500 so he could hold more music. We thought it would be a peice, because of the price, but it turned out to work quiet well. It just plugged in and puff he had a card that could hold as much as his unit for under 50 bucks. i would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a smart media card, and the price is great for a solid product. (it won't break easy because i droped it twice).

There should be a description for this product. Let me clue you in on what you'll get if you buy this. This is a 256MB upgrade, but it contains 2 128MB RIMMs. I should have tried to decode the part number.

RIMMs need to go in as pairs. Order one of these and you'll get 1 pair of 128MB RIMMsfor a total of 256MB. If you want 2 256MB RIMMs (as I did, for a 512MB upgrade) this product is not what you want.

It doesn't make much sense to me that the in the guy's review above me, he gives this RAM a *bad* review because of *his* mistake. That's not what reviews are all about. This RAM works fine.

The card is fine, but you don't have to buy the RCA. Any CompactFlash card will work in the Lyra, and for just $50 more you can get 128MB, or more than two and a half times the storage on this card.

The flash card is great because I can use it in my Hewlett Packard Pocket PC and in the RCA MP3 player. This versitility is really what sold me. Plus the Flash card is not flimsy like the smaller multi-media cards that most MP3's use. I recently took a road tip where I had over 16 hours of audio on a 48MB card with room left over for some MP3s.

Bought Sandisk cruzer micro sometime back.Looks very small and rugged though slow. Slowness may be due to the fact I am using USB 1.1 not 2.0 but I can not say for sure.
I shall give excellent rating on compactness. It fits where ports are very close (where bigger drive may be an issue). I chose this over cruzer mini so that it can fit on PCs where ports and keyboard/mouse cables etc are very close and I think I am right.
I found that drive becomes warm after prolonged use but I do not see any issue there. I wish that writing may be faster even on USB 1.1

Yet another entry into the increasingly crowded flash drive market, Sandisk's Cruzer Micro sets itself apart with a great form factor and nice design. It's almost half the size of my Cruzer Mini, which was run over by a car and replaced by this. Instead of a green LED, you get a nicer-looking blue one. The body is plastic like on the mini, and feels really solid.

Write speeds are decent on a USB 2 machine, and livable on a USB 1.1 machine due to the slow interface. You won't get anywhere near the theoretical 480 megabits per second (60 megabytes per second) USB 2 peak data rate due to limitations of the memory controller and memory chips themselves. In testing, I get a little over 3 megabytes/second of read/write speed on a USB 2 equipped computer, and about 600-700 kilobytes/second on a USB 1.1 machine.

The Cruzer Micro comes with about 249MB free out of the box, which is a relief coming from Memory Sticks with 70+ MB missing due to formatting and copy-protection space.

You can also use the Cruzer Micro as the memory portion of an mp3 player that Sandisk is releasing, but seeing as it isn't available anywhere yet, the jury is still out on this added feature.

Why did I dock it one star? In use on USB 2 machines, the Cruzer Micro heats up quite a bit with extended read/writes with large files. This was noticed on both a Sony VAIO laptop and a Dell Dimension Desktop. On USB 1.1 machines the Cruzer did not heat up. It wasn't quite hot, more uncomfortably warm. I always worry since heat is the enemy of many electronics, and other flash drives I've used don't heat up to quite this degree. I did an exchange, and the replacement did the same thing. My Cruzer Mini also did this, so I'm not sure what to make of it.

Aside from the small heat issue, it's a tiny flash drive that looks great and works well. With prices dropping all the time on flash drives, the convienence of transporting your files around is now very affordable. Highly recommended.

I bought this poduct about two months ago and, for the most part, it does what it is advertised to do. I have been able to use three different media card types (by far the most frequent is a 128 MB CF card followed by a 512 MB CF card ). My computer easily recognized the new drives and never skipped a beat.

The issue that I have had more than a couple of times is the actual writing to the disk. I expect that, when the file transfer progress box goes away, that the files have been transferred to the card. I many cases, this is not an appropriate assumption. Instead, when you pull the card out, it waits for about thirty seconds and then flashes up a message box that says the files were not written and no data was transferred. It works if you wait for about two minutes after the files have "finished" copying before you pull the media card though.

Still, I have to dock 2 stars for the card reader not doing being able to achieve it's primary task.

This is a very good product for the money. It is almost 3-4 times faster than the USB1.1 products. I own both. I use the regular CF card(not the high speed ones). This thing is very small and ligh weight.

Overall, I recommend this product.

I got this for my Dell Inspiron 5000 notebook and it wouldn't recognize it when I installed it. I emailed Viking support (it was late on a Friday so they didn't reply until Monday) but the guy suggested that the computer didn't see the memory correctly and to reinstall it. I don't know what I did different the 2nd time but it saw the memory and booted right up. Made a HUGE difference in the overall speed and reliability of my system. Might have to get another one and get this puppy up to the 512MB memory max :)

I installed the 2 dimms of 256 in my Dell Inspion 7500, It really boost it up, I was thinking of replacing the system but with this upgrade It will be usefull for a lot more time.

My Legend Supreme 1910 from Packard Bell NEC only recognizes 32 megabytes rather than the full 128mb.

My computer seems to use the Intel 430VX chipset that this DIMM is designed for.

According to Packard Bell you need to install two special 64mb DIMMs to get 128 meg.

I'm not even sure yet that the 32 megs that my computer does recognize are being used. If so, then this DIMM might have been worth the price. An actual 32mb DIMM costs more than the 128mb DIMM so even if only 32 out of 128 work, I'm okay.

Viking is the only brand that claims their SDRAM compatible with Intel 430VX. Others claim for only 430TX. Crucial Technology even told me "Intel 430VX has a tough time handling more than 32MB SDRAM." If you also own a system using Intel 430VX, try this memory to get SDRAM performance.

Replaced a Dell Memory Key with this as Dell was too fat to fit in USB slot if adjacent slot already occupied. This is much slimmer and sleeker than the Dell but it is very difficult to attach to a keyring. It has only a tiny little opening which makes it near impossible to thread a keyring through. They supply a keyring attached to some threadlike material which I guess is supposed to go thru the opening, however it seems a bit flimsy.

Great product!! If you have enough capabilities to stick this correctly into a USB plug, you have what it takes to use this product... It's that easy. Just plug it in, go to the My Computer icon on any PC with Win 98,XP,2000 etc and use it like you would any kind of drive. I've encountered one glitch with it... a few PCs with the USB port in front wouldn't recognize this (I just plugged it into the port at the back and presto), but it seems to me like this is not a problem of the device, but of the PC I tried it on. Highly recommended!
