128 megs, quite enoughThis media card was just the thing I was looking for. I have a Rio One mp3 player with only 32 megs onboard and with this media card I expanded it to 160 megs, that's about 160 minutes of near cd quality music. So, I'm very satisfied with it.

One note, played wellThe reader does what it is supposed to. I use it for transfering digital camera files, and it is substantially faster than a USB reader. Lexar kindly made it possible to use a standard FireWire 400 cable with it. Unlike with some other Lexar readers, the door doesn't function as a stand, and it is clumsy to get off and on.

MINDS@WORK MSADP4N1 4-In-1 PCMCIA Type II Adapter
Made by Minds @ Work
Amazon base price: $
Average review score:

Seems to work fineI just received this item a couple of hours ago, but so far it seems to work just fine. I only have memory stick and smartmedia media so I can't vouch for the other media types, but the adapter was able to read them just fine. My Windows 2000 laptop didn't require any new drivers and the adapter doesn't come with any. Having one card to read both media I use will be very convenient and it costs basically the same as a single media type adapter. The only tradeoff is that my smartmedia only adapter comes with an eject button and the 4 in 1 doesn't - you have to eject the adapter to be able to remove the media, but given the different form factor media it accepts, an eject button would probably have been a minor miracle of engineering. As long as this adapter keeps working like it does now, I'm happy with it.

This Was Exactly What I WantedVery easy to install. I had to download the updated drivers for XP, but once I did that it was recognized at once. It replaced a USB hub and a smart media drive and also let me connect my zip drive, printer and scanner to my laptop at once. When I need to take the notebook with me I can disconnect two cords and fly knowing that I can reconnect it as easily when I get back to the office. Now I can take digital pictures, view them from the integrated smart media drive, edit them and back the whole thing up to the flashmedia drive for storage.
Life is good.

New Media Technology 32 MB CompactFlash Card (NMT00713)
Made by New Media Tech

Average review score:

Fine card, but packaging could be nicer.I've tried this brand and the Lexar Media brand (which purportsto have 4x speed) and have found no appreciable difference inday-to-day usage. This seems like a fine card.
My only complaint about the New Media Tech cards is that the plastic card holder cases are physically much larger than they need to be and the way the card snaps into the case is a bit of a pain. If you carry and swap a couple of cards, this is a minor inconvenience.

Panorama feature is nice, but may not be worth price premiumSmartMedia is sold under several brands. Olympus branded SmartMedia allows you to take "panorama" shots. Essentially, you take multiple shots while making sure to overlap edges. You then reassemble these multiple shots using the "Camedia" software that came with your Olympus camera. The difference is that when an Olympus brand SmartMedia card is used, your digital camera keeps exposure settings constant across these multiple shots; which makes for a consistent panorama when you reassemble the individual shots via your computer.
This is a nice feature, but not a feature most of us use often. If you are going to purchase multiple SmartMedia cards, you might be able to do with just one or two Olympus brand cards - especially since they cost more than other brands. I use two 32Mb other brand cards, and save my two 8Mb Olympus brand cards for when panorama shots present (since you can switch the cards out at anytime - unlike traditional camera film).
