Short on stated memory
I realize that 32 mb means 32 million bytes which is actually less than 32 mb. SanDisk shortchanges that figure and you don't get nearly what you are paying for. I have 32 mb cards from other manufacturers and they all give substantially more memory than SanDisk. The cards work fine...

Good as others....becoming obsolete.
With the advent of 64 mb native memory and the high memory demands of pdas and cameras, the memory capacity of this chip is almost quaint.
However, it does provide excellent response and reliable storage.

This is a superb secure digital card
I have been cheeking this card out for a while and i have compared its price, size and warrenty to all the others.I would have to save scan disk did it again. they offer in ,my opinion, the best secure digital 32mb card out there. The things that turned me onto this is the great price, the excellent warrenty and of course the drop pertection. I have broken a fex before by droping them when taking the m out but i hope i wont drop this one, and if i do it most likely wont break!!

Software Could be Better
Pros: The concept of this device is great. While traveling and taking photos, I definitely need someplace to dump files off my flash cards without having to lug around a laptop. The size is very portable and just right. The easy dumping acting with the one buttom "copy" function is perfect.

Cons: The device gets pretty hot when in use. The software in this device surprised me. I thought it would be a little more sophisticated than it is. It's a little tedious going through the programs/menus etc.

Wishful thinking: I really wished the screen was better...wouldn't it be great if it could have had a plasma screen? :)

Very good allrounder
I had the need for a product that could be used for: 1. playing MP3, 2. dumping photos 3.Viewing photos and 4. Portable data storage. Along with the Archos products this was the only device which can do it all. I selected this because I prefer the "gameboy" design since it protects the screen well. In fact, I was so impressed with the specs that I was prepared to pay about $170 shipping(to south africa) and run the risk of losing it since there is no support outside US/Europe at all. It all paid off(so far). Fortunately it arrived intact and I have had the device now for 3 problem free months.

It plays music with exceptional quality and photo dumping from all card formats are a breeze with the very flexible optional adapter. TV connection also works well. The video only supports Motion JPEG - MJPEG.AVI files. I have been able to look at .avi videos taken with a Canon camera successfully. However with a downloadeable translation tool from their web site, many other formats can be translated and it works. The translated video takes up a bit more space after translation. Since the device firmware can be upgraded, one hopes that they will come out with more video codecs. The only glitch i found is that the operating system can be very slow when you have large directories. With 40GB of dispace available, a directory can become too large very quickly. That requires a lot of organizing if you have lots of music to store. I also requested from the support people to confirm (before I ordered)whether I would be able to read a Memorystick Duo (with supplied adapter) but there was no satisfactory answer. Battery life is not great, about 3 hours when playing music only, but that should be expected for a device such as this. When only using it for dumping photos, it lasts for days.

A nice feature is that it can read .M3U playlists created on our PC and you can create playlists on the device itself.

An all in all impressive product which have given me countless hours of joy(so far) and I would recommend it for sure. In fact, I have not seen a device on the market yet for the price that can beat it.

One of the better digital storage devices out there
-Easy User Interface. Plug and save for your compact flash card without having to turn the unit on if you are in a hurry.
-Nicely designed exterior and 3.5 inch display.
-The screen resolution in review mode wont allow you to determine sharpness absolutely but definitely will allow you to review pictures and show them to friends.
-There are smaller units out there but this is a nice compromise for size and functionality.
-This unit is a hard drive,so don't expect to take this running when you listen to you MP3 player.
-It has good sound quality when using headphones.
-My only complaint is the "case" is just a felt bag, I was expecting something more durable.

This Viking ram is on a sinking ship
I recieved my Viking C01064 256MB PC100 ram for my Compaq 18XL280 Laptop with anticipation of extra speed and performance. What a disappointment! After installing the ram, I found that the computer sat on the initial "Compaq" screen and wouldn't proceed any farther into the boot up process. Apparently the computer won't recognize the new ram. Switching back to my old 128MB ram worked so it appears the problem is with the new ram. This particular 256MB ram was the one that the "Memory Finder" said was compatible with my computer so I'm assuming it is correct. At this point, I'm going to get busy contacting Viking's 24/7 Technical Support line and see what happens but I'm not real happy about it...we'll see!

Upgrade your RAM now!
I purchased 2 of these to max out the RAM in my Compaq Presario 1700US Notebook. What a STEAL!!! If you order the same memory (at another retail store), 256Mb costs (more) plus shipping, so I saved about $250 by purchasing two RAM chips here! I made the mistake of believing that I had to use OEM RAM for it to work properly. This memory works very well, and your computer will surely benefit.

I am now running 512 RAM in my notebook, and this thing is FAST. The default configuration of 192Mb was not bad, but now I'm running a multi-boot OS with Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP Pro with ease. I also regulary use RAM intensive programs such as Photoshop and Sound Forge and having a lot of memory saves a lot of time and makes everything run smooth.

Do yourself a huge favor and upgrade your laptop NOW while RAM is cheap!

Plug and Play
I have been a bit scared to buy this item when I read the other not so encouraging preview. Though, it seemed to be what I needed for my laptop so I decided to buy it. I have absolutelly no problem with it, and it works fine. Remove the battery, clik the memory in and start.
My config : A Compaq Presario Laptop 1800FR (1GHZ, comes with 128MB of Ram, 64 soldered and 64 on a DIMM like this one). I am now up to 320MB. I did not expect to see some major improvements with the speed of my machine as it was nearly never swaping before. But for sure I did not lose any performance in the deal.

Cheers.

not compatible with mac os 10.2 jaguar
if you have the new mac os 10.2 dont buy this reader.

Quick and Easy
I am pleased with the Zio CompactFlash media reader. It is simple and easy to use, out of the box. The benefits of reading the card directly into the computer from the card without having to attach the camera itself include:
1) I'm not using up the camera battery
2) I don't need the optional AC power cord (a significant savings)
3) It is easy to share the contents of the FlashCard with friends without having to give up the use of the camera while they are downloading the pictures to their PC
I certainly recommend this product for any digital camera user.

    Gets the job done
It's your basic compact flash/PCMCIA adapter card. Great for laptops when all you want to do is transfer digital pictures from your compact flash to your laptop.

Too bad this an Office Depot product that you can't pick up in the store. The shipping alone pretty much kills this product as a good deal.

    Real plug and play reader
This real plug and play compact flash card reader is a must for every laptop owner. Any laptop has a PCMCIA slot, and every laptop nowadays comes with a modem , LAN , built in, so you use the PCMCIA slot for nothing, but the reader.
I usually keeps it plugged in the laptop, and take a backup for my critical files on it. With a 512 MB card, it really takes a lot, and provides me with peace of mind with an online , reliable and fast backup.
With technology, the storage capacity doubles every 12 months , and the MB/$ drops by half every 9 month. Soon, you will be able to buy a 10 GB compact flash card for the price of 512 MB nowadays. And, still , you will use the same reader !!

Verbatim Travel Case for CompactFlash and SmartMedia

    Not for Smart Media
Although the name of this case says it holds Smart Media cards, it is not really designed to do so. Smart Media cards do not fit in the two compartments of the case; so if they are set inside the case they will just flop around and potentially get damaged. The case seems to be designed to hold only compact flash cards; however I do not have any compact flash cards, so I cannot say for sure if they would fit.
The case itself is very nice and sturdy for whatever does fit in it.

Protecting Your Media Cards Is Essential
This TRAVEL CASE FOR COMPACT FLASH & SMART MEDIA CARDS from Verbatim Corporation is similar to the ones that come with some media cards. Unfortunately when purchasing some brands of media cards, a useless vinyl sleeve or nothing is included to store and protect the card. Media cards are sturdy but not indestructible. The thin metal contacts must be protected from damage to be readable and writeable. If a media card is unintentionally flexed, irreparable damage will occur. A protective case is an essential accessory especially as the MB size of media cards increases. Now that 128MB and 256MB cards are becoming more common, you risk losing hundreds of pictures by damaging a media card not properly protected. These cases from Verbatim are ideal since they are sturdy and hold 2 cards each. Now I'm able to remove a memory card from the camera and place it in the protective case while the next card to be used is still protected and readily available.

    Is it doing anything?
This product was easy to install, and when I turned my computer back on - Wow!, I had 128 more megabytes of memory.
Unfortunately, except for the readout on my computer about more memory, I have seen no other sign of increased memory. My computer is not any faster, I cannot open any more programs at the same time, and some computer games which could not be opened because I didn't quite have enough memory, still can't be opened.
I phoned to get help from Viking, and they were friendly, but said the readout on my computer that says I have 128 more megabytes of memory may be the only sign I have that the product is working. This product may be doing great things inside my computer, only I wish it SHOWED some sign of this in my daily computer use.

    Great, inexpensive memory
We purchased this to upgrade the memory in our computer and I was so pleased with the product, service, and the ease of installation for us.

    Not to shabby
For this price I would rather buy Radeon 9800, Radeon 9800 will Over clock at Pro, And the diffrence with ATI and Nvidia is huge especially with AA enabled.

    Order from JandR
Ordered from JandR off of amazon, they took my order, even emailed me a fony shipment confirmation! I called them and they said they didn't have that card anymore and my order was cancelled even thou their system emailed me a shipment confirmation. Took 2 weeks to get my money back!!! Nvidia cancelled this card, and has a new GeForce 5700 out.

    Impressive.
I upgraded to this from a Geforce 2 MX so my brother could play Dark Age of Camelot on my old computer without lag. Installation was easy and fast as it uses the same driver as my old card so I didn't have to download another one over my lame dial-up (although I did have to uninstall it so it would recognize the new one which was no big deal). Games look awesome and more importantly, it plays them very smoothly.

Also, mine came with Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell.

Doesn't work with Windows Mobile 2003
Card worked with PPC2002, but when I upgraded my Dell Axim X5 to Windows Mobile 2003, the card stopped working. Have followed all the advice on Linksys' website to no avail. Tech Support does not respond by email or telephone. Try another card with Windows Mobile 2003.

    It works mostly
Got this card for my Casio E-125 PocketPC. Fits quite snuggly in the CF slot, but it goes in with a little patience. The drivers out of the box said that it did not work with the "connected device". So I downloaded the slightly newer driver from the website. The new driver installed and I was able to set the SSID during installation. But the Linksys Wireless CF Control panel doesn't work keeps saying that I'm missing a progam or library. (I've reinstalled numerous times to no avail)

I can however connect, so the only access control I can turn on is MAC level from the access point (USR8011). I suspect WEP is setup in the control panel that I can't start on the E-125.

Drains the battery significantly as well. Equivalent to running some media playback, and having the screen on all the time (cause that's pretty much what you'll be doing).

Connects fast! Maybe a second or two and the card is connected.
So it works adequately, I just don't know if I'm missing anything with the lack of WEP.

    Works with a little effort
When first installing the card into a WindowsCE 3.0-based Casio E-125, it complained it could not find "PRISMSTA.exe or one of its components". The on-line chat system with Linksys technical support was helpful, but their only response was to send Beta drivers which didn't help. It turns out, at least on my system, PRISMSTA.exe was looking for a needed library file called 'mfcce211.dll', a Microsoft foundation classes dll for Windows CE 2.11. Once I located the file on the web and placed it in the same folder as the PRISMSTA.exe file(I expect it would also work when placed in the Windows subdirectory), the configuration utility worked and I was able to configure the card for my home network. I purchased the card through Amazon and hopefully this will help anyone else with the same problem. All my other 802.11 devices are Linksys, work great, and this card is no exception. It appears the only weakness was in the installation program that one would expect to verify the presence of other files the driver/utility depends upon.

    Sandisk 6 in1 has it's limits
I have tried it with a 512 Sandisk SD memory card. 1st on a win98SE laptop platform, & subsequently on a WinXP desktop w/ USB 2.0

In both cases the process starts OK & then stall @ about 15 Second left when copying to the HD on the pc with files over 1MB.
    The PC then locks up.

In win98, a newer driver must be downloaded from Sandisk's website.
In Win Xp no driver required.
Each port shows up as a different drive letter to allow copying from one type card to another.
When the disc copy option is selected only options for other media in this device are listed, along with floppie ( Not HD's ).

    DONOT WASTE MONEY ON IT
looks and Feel great, read 32M CF card and SD card is ok, but not read the 256M CF card. Try to get another brand now :(

I hope the store will take this one back ...
I've had a [$$$]SD reader for some time but it's a USB 1.1 and even waiting for the folders to open was too long for me.

I shopped (too quickly) for a 6 in 1 (now 8 in 1's out there) and picked up this SanDisk USB 2.0 reader. After taking a lot of pictures I couldn't wait to plug it in and ...wooosshhh... them onto my hard drive.

No go ... I plugged it in and XP did its bit to auto-install the drivers and then told me that the drive was unavailable "J:\ refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, ...". After some digging around I realized that Norton AV auto-protect disables the drive because it considers the SD card to be a boot drive - DISABLING NAV allows this card to work just fine thus far.

So, it it NAV fault or SanDisk? - no idea but until I find out that all readers do this then I'll be trying to return this one. Now I'm off to remove drives H,I,J,K,L,M from my computer.

If you don't have NAV auto-enabled then this card reader may be just the one for you.
