Buyer beware
I purchased this card to use in my mp3 player. It will not work, because it is not a standard compact flash card, it is about 50% thicker than a compact flash card, no where do they tell you this, and the picture does not even show it. I would suggest to look elsewhere.

Great Product
I recently bought this product but almost didn't based on the reviews.

I received the product and it works great in both my digital camera and MP3 player. The size of the card is the same as the lower density cards I currently have.

Besides, if they would have sent the wrong card I am sure they would have swapped it out, their customer support number is located right on the package.

Highly recommended

    Overpriced Memory
Memory on this site is overpriced. Living in Saint Louis, I can at least MATCH and usually BEAt these prices and save the postage amount plus getting the memory immediately! This place is no bargan.

Acually this is a really good price
i dunno where that other guy shops or buys but i have been keeping an eye on rambus memory for a while and this is some of the cheapest namebrand rambus memory i've seen. the fact of the matter is that ALL rdram is expensive when compared to other memory types, but for good reason. rambus is by far the fastest memory available today and will be the fastest available tomorrow (even more importantly). if your mother board supports it, it will allow clock speeds of up to 1077Mhz, in my opition this stuff is the best money can buy, if you want the fastest machine money can buy rambus memory is definietly the way to go ... if this other guy can do it for cheaper than 40$, he's either stealing it or making it himself . and, no i don't work for Amazon.com, i'm just a fan of kick a** technology standing up for a kick a** product.

    Deceptive packaging
I paid more $$ to get a Japanese card with a guaranteed speed rating, good brand name, etc. This is an excellent price for a 256MB card, but buyer beware: even though the company is Japanese, the packaging clearly says "Made in Taiwan" on the reverse. Even worse, once you crack open the seal, the card itself is not made in Japan or Taiwan, but in mainland China. According to multiple sources, SD cards made in China have the worst quality control and are unpredictable often resulting in loss of data or formatting. Better to skip this card unless Amazon or their subcontractors guarantee a card made in Japan or at least Taiwan.

    Super!
I have hade the cards for a couple of months, and never had any problem with it. Works like a charm! Have been able to use my camera in a whole new way thanks to this memory card!

      To costly...
Check out the Ridata 512MB card - faster performance for half the price...

      Excellent Card
Lexar makes reliable cards that professionals swear by, not at. The 12X card is faster than the regular cards, but keep in mind that it isn't actually 12 times faster -- the 12X rating is based on CD-ROM transfer rates. These cards work great in my Canon A70, and general compatibility for Lexar seems to be good.

      Not worth it
Whatever money you save by getting a Mad Catz memory card instead of a Nintendo one is negated by the fact that these things suck. I've only had this memory card for like 6 months, I try and save a game one day and I get, "This memory card is corrupt and needs to be formatted." Goodbye all the time I just spent playing games for 6 months. Don't bother, just buy accessories made by Nintendo.

      Just as Good
I buy Mad Catz products all the time. I have 3 of their controllers, and 6 memory cards both for Playstation2 and Game Cube. I've had most of these things for almost a year, playing with them almost every day, and I've yet to have a single problem. I trust Mad Catz implicitly, and besides, their products are usually better looking.

If it breaks you're out of luck
I recently (like 4 weeks ago) bought a PNY multicard reader that does USB 2.0 and reads smart, mmc, compact flash, memory stick, etc.

Well it worked fine for a few weeks than broke. If its plugged in my computer won't boot, and if I boot my computer then plug it in the computer freezes.

So no problem I thought...I'll just RMA it and get another one. Well I go to their site and click on Warranty and the multicard isn't even listed. So I thought I'd email them? Well no email address. Fax them? Nope no fax.

I go and get the original packaging I had with the card and call the tech support number. I must have clicked through 20 voice menu prompts and it seemed like forever (10 minutes probably). I finally get to the point where it tells me to hold for a tech support person...and the hold time was like 40 minutes (this is well before christmas too). It says I can leave voicemail and they will call me back...so I do...and I don't hear back.

So I try to call back today (day after christmas) and the line is busy. Unbelievable. I'll never buy another PNY product again.

      Very smart design
Generally speaking, a card reader is a card reader and nothing to get religion about. However, this PNY has some smart features that others don't that are worth noting:

o You don't need to drag around a USB cable. The PNY comes with an extension cable, but you don't need it; this plugs directly into a computer... and its baby cord squeezes between the other USB plugs.

o This is much more portable than pretty much any other reader I've seen. If you plan to leave your reader on your desk connected to one computer, then the other guys are just fine. But this fits easily into pants or shirt pockets -- and again, there aren't any cords to lug around (and leave behind).

o I haven't had any of the hassle another reviewer mentions.

      Not fully compatible
I purchased this unit to facilitate the exchange of jpeg's between my Sony Digital Camara and my desktop PC. While you can read and write data to the Memory Stick Reader with the PC, when you attempt to download files created on a Sony camara it will give an error of "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." The same files are accessible in my camara or Sony Notebook: they cannot be accessed with the SmartDisk Reader. My attempts with SmartDisk Technical Support were unsuccessful.

Don't purchase thid unit if you plan to use it with genuine Sony hardware.

      works fine
works fine for me. i have a sony dsc-f717. i have used lexar, sony and sandisk without any problems.

        At least it looks alright
Simply put, it doesn't work. I got this for my dad the christmas, along with a Toshiba camera, and new (128mb) smart media memory card. Being an aesthetic freak, i have to say that it does look kinda cool, but thats where my praise ends. Of course, it may be a defective one, but i've got to report on the one that I got. We're not really sure why it doesn't work, it could be the fact that the connector is really loose in the unit itself, or maybe the build quality is just bad. I really would not suggest you buy this, as it doesn't work (for me at least), and it just sems to ooze cheapness and poor build quality. Do ourself a favor and check out one either here, or try somewhere else, like Directron.com for a smart media specific one, its up to you.

        True plug-n-play
Ok, the hardest part was opening the heavy duty plastic package. I read the first paragraph of the instructions, plugged one end of the USB cable into the unit and the other end into a USB port on my PC.

Windows 2000 immediately sprang to life, detected and set up the SmartDisk media reader in about 10 seconds. I looked at the diagram in the instructions to see how to orient the SmartDisk and put it in. When my PC still said to enter a disk, I realized I needed to push it in all the way, kind of like a diskette.

When I did that I had a 64 Meg removable drive online, and it is MUCH faster than the floppy disk adapter that I was replacing. I uploaded the pictures from my digital camera in about 30 seconds.

        Thumbs up on this one!

Not Compatible with new Apple Firmware
This RAM chip is NOT compatible with the firmware update that Apple released in March. It will not work on any Apple Computer that has had the Firmware udate.

Actually, the RAM module DOES work with the Titanium G4, you just have to make sure that it's properly seated....

        Not compatible
I own a Toshiba Satellite 2545CDS with only 32MB of RAM. That was plenty when I bought the system, but now, of course, I need considerably more. I was going to order the memory module directly from Toshiba, but when I saw that I could order it here for... less, I went ahead and did so. The module arrived, I installed it carefully, turned on the computer and . . nothing. I reinstalled the module, tried again, and still the computer only had 32MB of RAM. It took several days for me to get a response from Viking customer service via e-mail, and by then I'd done enough research to know that the module was either incompatible with my motherboard (despite the guaranteed compatibility) or that it was defective. I'm not willing to go through the whole process again, so I'll go ahead and order the module from Toshiba this time.

I've given the module two stars, because there always is a chance that it is damaged....

Excellent, Low-cost Upgrade for Toshiba Laptop
I also own a Toshiba Satellite 2545CDS that came with only 32MB of RAM. Unfortunately, the 128MB upgrade is no longer manufactured so I had to settle for a measly 64MB. However, for its low price, the Viking T75064 is a bargain, and worked flawlessly the moment I installed it and turned the machine on. There is absolutely no need to pay more than double its cost buying the original Toshiba part, or even Kingston's KTT version. The Viking is just fine.
