A must have accessory if you carry a small camera and like to keep it in a shirt pocket.

(A color choice would have been nice.)

The camera captures such beautiful and clear images. The camera also has many, many options such as several modes (like action, portrait, and landscape), it can record MPEGS, and has up to 15x zoom (3x optical, 5x digital). The zoom is really impressive. The quality of the MPEGS are really great too. You just plug the camera up to the printer or computer, and you are looking at some great stuff!

The printer was really impressive as well. With this printer, I feel like I never need to get my photos developed again (professionally). The 4x6 quality is really great. The printer is quick, quiet, and accurate.

The memory card holds a lot of pics and MPEGs to my surprise. I can't say how many because we haven't filled it up yet, but it's really a great size (especially for a starter).

This is the best and most complete set in digital imaging (in my opinion). When you buy this, you really don't need anything else. You have the memory, paper, batteries, and cables. Nothing else needed really. I've seen other bundles for less money, but none of them had as much as this one has. This one is far superior.

The printer and camera are also very user friendly. Just plug and play without the need of any direction. Very, very user friendly.

This would be a great buy for anyone, and it would also make the ultimate gift. I'm honestly thinking about getting a second one of these. That's how much I love it!

It also holds a ton of photos. I use it with my Nikon 5000 and it holds hundreds upon hundreds of photos. The great thing about it being spacious is I can use it to transfer songs, games, photos with my dad's G4 powebook.

What I really like is the fact that it comes with a PC card reader. This makes it so much faster to download photos then with a usb connected camera.

In conclusion, in all this is a solid all around microdrive, it is very spacious and easy to use. Although expensive, the benefits this microdrive has far outweighs the cost.

Have you ever wondered why a normal camcorder looks so bad on an HDTV? It's because an HDTV is very high resolution. When you connect a traditional camcorder (even a Mini DV), the TV sees a much smaller, comparatively low resolution picture and must scale it (digitally enlarge it) to fit the screen. It doesn't matter if you have a $400 low end cam or a $4000 high end cam... Scaling the picture on virtually any HDTV will ruin your camcorder picture.

JVC solved this on the GR-HD1 with the world's first consumer HD camcorder. Basically, it's the first consumer camcorder ever that makes a picture which correctly fits a widescreen HDTV. It records a picture with 720 x 1280 dots, compared with 480 x 720 dots for a normal camcorder.

The result? The detail & resolution is simply phennominal! The colors look great! The video is much more appealing to watch in widescreen because it more closely matches your natural field of vision.

The only thing you need to be careful of is the frame rate. This shoots 720/30P. What that means is it takes video at 30 frames per second. As a result, if the camera uses too fast of a shutter speed you may see a "jitter" in things that move on-screen. The fix is really easy: Simply take the camcorder out of the "auto" mode and lock in a 1/30th of a second shutter speed. This eliminates the vast majority of the jitter. What you are left with is a superb high resolution video with a subtle "film-like" quality.

You don't have to be Stephen Speilberg to appreciate this. This is the ideal camcorder for any type of family video. Think about the great stuff happening today that you'll want to be able to watch 10-20 years from now, and still be happy with the quality.

If you own an HDTV, no other camcorder else even comes close!

This video light takes care of this. It will come on automatically when the ambient light drops too much. A feature wich not only saves batteries but also makes for extremely easy use. You CAN set the light to always on mode (or off), but I never do.

At first I was concerned about the coverage of the light. Don't get me wrong, it is very bright but it's not going to illuminate an entire room and it shouldn't. Besides, it already sucks the batteries, any brighter and your battery life would drop to nothing. The lumination it provides is perfectly balanced for the shooting of video in low light conditions.

The final point I want to make is that this thing is TINY and it looks great mounted on the camcorder.

With a Sony CCD-TR500 camcorder, some telephoto lenses have a problem of being "near sighted"---unable to focus beyond about 50 feet when the camera is zoomed. This problem occurs with the Sunpak CAL-1160 and Kenko SGT-20 lenses, but is not a problem with Kenko SGT-20Hi or the Sony VCL-R2037 lenses, which have enough leeway in the focus to even accommodate far-spectrum red lights.
